다중 차분 필터에 의한 IEEE 802.15.4b LR-WPAN 주파수 옵셋의 개선 (Improvement of IEEE 802.15.4b LR-WAPN Frequency Offset with Multiple Differential Filter)

  • 본 논문에서는 915MHz 대역 IEEE 802.15.4b LR-WPAN(Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network) 비동기 DSSS O-QPSK 기반 수신 시스템의 주파수 옵셋 영향을 분석하고, 차분 필터를 추가 함으로써 주파수 옵셋을 보상할 수 있는 방법을 제시한다. IEEE 802.15.4b 915MHz 규격에서는 DSSS PSSS-ASK 변조방식과 DSSS O-QPSK 변조방식을 채용하여 250kbps의 전송율을 갖는 새로운 방식을 제시하고 있다. 본 논문에서 사용한 DSSS O-QPSK 변조방식은 40ppm(주파수 옵셋 36.6kHz)까지는 BER에 변화가 없으나, 그 이상의 주파수 옵셋이 발생하면 BER이 높아져 안정적인 수신이 어려운 문제가 있다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 DSSS O-QPSK 기반 수신기의 상관기에 MDDF(Multiple Delay Differential Filter)를 적용하여 ${\pm}80ppm$에서도 안정적인 수신이 가능함을 보인다. 제안 알고리즘의 성능을 검증하기 위해, 다양한 AWGN 및 주파수 옵셋 환경을 가정한 컴퓨터 모의실험의 결과를 제시하고, 그 유효성을 입증한다.

  • 본 논문에서는 전력선통신에서 발생하는 잡음에 대해서 DSSS을 적용할 수 있는 가능성을 분석했다. 이 잡음은 4가지가 있는데, 이들 잡음을 분석하기 위해서 특성에 따라서 실제로 전력선에서 발생하는 잡음원을 만들었다. 이들 잡음모델을 대상으로 DSSS을 적용한 BPSK의 BER 성능을 DSSS을 적용하지 않는 BPSK의 경우와 비교해서 모의실험하고 분석했다. 그 결과, DSSS을 적용한 BPSK의 경우가 DSSS을 적용하지 않는 BPSK의 경우에 비해서 8 dB 개선되었음을 알 수 있었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 송신기와 수신기의 구현에 있어서 많은 장점을 제공하는 직접 확산-주파수(DSSS-FSK) 변조를 제안한다. 주파수 변조를 사용하여, 직접 확산 통신에서도 주파수합성기(PLL)를 이용한 송신기의 구현이 가능하므로 저전력, 저가격이 가능하다. 또한, 반송과 인접 대역에 정보를 전송하지 않아서 직접변환방식 수신기(DCR)의 구현을 용이하게 한다 한편, DSSS-FSK 신호를 위한 최적 동기 검파와 반동기 상관 검파 구조를 제안하고 그 성능을 분석한다. 매우 큰 반송파 주파수오프셋에서도 우수한 비트오율성능을 가지기 위해서, 분할 반동기 상관 검파 구조를 제안하고 성능을 분석한다.

Performance analysis of DSSS- and CSS-based physical layer for IoT transmission over LEO satellites

  • To determine a suitable waveform for Internet of Things (IoT) transmission over low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, this paper reports the results of a performance comparison between chirp spread spectrum (CSS)-based LoRa and direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS)-based Ingenu. The performance of both waveforms was measured in terms of the packet error rate, throughput, and packet loss rate, considering the Doppler effect caused by the high speed of LEO satellites and the interference among multiple terminals. Simulation results indicate that the DSSS scheme is more suitable than the CSS scheme for high-traffic IoT services because of its robustness against interference among multiple terminals. However, the CSS scheme is more suitable than the DSSS scheme for high-mobility IoT services because of its robustness against the Doppler effect. We discuss various solutions, such as the preprocessing of Doppler effect and avoidance of packet collision, to enhance the performance of the DSSS and CSS schemes. The simulation results of the proposed solution show that the enhanced DSSS scheme can be a proper waveform in IoT transmission over LEO satellites for both the high-traffic and high-mobility services.

FHSS 및 DSSS 방식 소출력 무선기기간 간섭 분석에 관한 연구 (A Study on Interference Analysis between FHSS and DSSS Short Range Radio Devices)

  • 본 논문에서는 FHSS 방식의 소출력 무선기기와 DSSS 방식의 소출력 무선기기가 동일 주파수 대역에 존재하는 경우 업무간 간섭을 분석하였다. 분석 방법은 몬테 카를로 방법을 이용하여 DSSS 방식의 소출력 무선기기의 불요 방사가 FHSS 방식의 소출력 무선기기에 미치는 영향을 간섭 확률 측면에서 계산하였다. 간섭 시뮬레이션은 DSSS 방식의 소출력 무선기기의 대역폭과 충격 계수에 따른 간섭량을 계산하였고, 전파 모델은 자유 공간으로 가정하였다. 그리고 간섭원과 피간섭원 사이의 거리에 따른 영향을 수신기에서의 BER 측면에서 분석하였다. 간섭 분석 결과, 간섭원의 대역폭보다는 충격 계수가 시스템 양립성에 많은 영향을 주는 것을 확인할 수 있었고, 단일 간섭원과 다중 간섭원이 존재하는 경우 BER 기준을 만족하는 이격 거리를 확인할 수 있었다.

  • Objectives : We examined the reliability and validity of the Korean version of the Depression and Somatic Symptom Scale (DSSS) in Korean patients with depressive symptoms. Methods : Participants were 55 outpatients diagnosed with major depressive disorder, a depressive episode of bipolar I disorder, somatoform disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, or post-traumatic stress disorder according to the DSM-IV criteria. We assessed them using the Korean versions of the DSSS, Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HDRS), and Quick Inventory of Depressive Symptomatology Self Report (QIDS-SR). Results : The Korean version DSSS had a Cronbach's alpha of 0.90. Moreover, each item's correlation with the total score was statistically significant (r=0.24-0.71, p<0.01). The test-retest correlation coefficient (r=0.83, p<0.01) was relatively high, and the DSSS correlations with the HDRS and QIDS-SR were 0.77 and 0.74, respectively. Conclusion : These results demonstrate that the Korean version of the DSSS could be a reliable and valid tool for screening and assessing depressive patients. The Korean version of the DSSS will be a useful tool for screening both depressive and somatic symptoms in Korea.

Partial Matched Filter for Low Power and Fast Code Acquisition of DSSS-CPFSK Signals

  • A partial matched filter (PMF) for semi-coherent correlation code acquisition of the DSSS-CPFSK signal is proposed. It is a calculation-reduced structure of the hard-limited signal based FIR filter, yet its code acquisition time is equal to that of the hard-limited signal based FIR filter. The PMF eliminates duplicate calculations by utilizing the characteristic that the hard-limited DSSS-CPFSK signal has same value in several consecutive samples. For example, the PMF can achieve about 95% reduction in gate size, as compared to the hard-limited signal based FIR filter, when the modulation index of the DSSS-CPFSK signal is equal to 1.5 and the sample rate is equal to 40 sample/chip.

  • In this paper, we investigate interference between short-range radiocommunication devices (SRDs) with frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) and direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) methods when they are in the same frequency bands. In order to analyze interference from unwanted emission of SRD with DSSS to that of FHSS, Monte-Carlo (MC) simulation method is employed and interference probabilities are calculated. We simulate interference scenarios in accordance with several duty cycles and bandwidths. It is also assumed that the propagation model is free space The effect of distance between interfering transmitter and victim receiver is analyzed and bit error rate (BER) is simulated. From the interference analysis results, it is shown that duty cycle affects compatibility more than bandwidth does. Also, we can make sure of the separation distance which satisfies BER criterion when there are only one interfering transmitter and multiple interfering transmitters.

표본화 벡터 개념을 이용한 분산 표본 혼화기의 간단한 구현 (Simple Realizations of Distributed Sample Scramblers Using the Concept of Sampling Vectors)

  • In this paper, the concept of sampling vectors is introduced, and used for a simple realization of DSSs(distributed sample scramblers). In DSSs, if the sampling times of the scrambler state samples are not identical to their transmission times, samples are delayedtransmitted to the descrambler. and in this case the DSSs need additional memory elements storing the samples and additional clocks for informing their transmission times. The concept of sampling vectors helps move the sampling times of delayed samples to their transmission times, thus eliminating the additional memory elements and clocks in the DSSs. In the paper, the conditions on the synchronization of the scrambler and descrambler are derived for the DSS employing sampling vectors,and demonstrations are given on their applicaitons to cell-based ATM DSSs.

A Survey of Security Mechanisms with Direct Sequence Spread Spectrum Signals

  • Security has long been a challenging problem in wireless networks, mainly due to its broadcast nature of communication. This opens up simple yet effective measures to thwart useful communications between legitimate radios. Spread spectrum technologies, such as direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS), have been developed as effective countermeasures against, for example, jamming attacks. This paper surveys previous research on securing a DSSS channel even further, using physical layer attributes-keyless DSSS mechanisms, and watermarked DSSS (WDSSS) schemes. The former has been motivated by the fact that it is still an open question to establish and share the secret spread sequence between the transmitter and the receiver without being noticed by adversaries. The basic idea of the latter is to exploit the redundancy inherent in DSSS's spreading process to embed watermark information. It can be considered a counter measure (authentication) for an intelligent attacker who obtains the spread sequence to generate fake messages. This paper also presents and evaluates an adaptive DSSS scheme that takes both jam resistance and communication efficiency into account.
