This study investigated the enzyme inhibitory effects of ethanol extracts from the different parts of rough rice (Oryza sativar L.) from its germination period. Rough rice was germinated at $37^{\circ}C$ for 6 days, then separated into hull+sprout and brown rice. ${\alpha}$-Glucosidase inhibitory activity had the highest value (39.38%) in hull+sprout extracts after 5 days of germination. ${\alpha}$-Amylase and DPP-4 inhibitory activity had the highest values (75.32% and 47.77%, respectively) in hull+sprout extracts after germination for 5 days. ACE inhibitory activity of hull+ sprout extracts increased from 43.16% at the beginning to 58.60% at 5 days, while brown rice extracts increased this activity from 0.88% at the beginning to 14.50% at 4 days. The xanthine oxidase inhibitory activity of hull+ sprout extracts increased from 62.02% at the beginning to 64.49% at one day, and then decreased. Lipase inhibitory activity had its highest value (55.17%) in hull+sprout extracts after germination for 5 days. These results indicate that the optimal germination period for increasing enzyme inhibitory activities may be 5 days, and that hull+sprout extracts have a higher enzyme inhibition activity than brown rice.
We synthesized the binuclear Tetradentate Schiff base cobalt (II) complexes; [Co(II)$_2$(SMPD)$_2$(L)$_2$] and [Co(II)$_2$(SPPD)$_2$(L)$_2$] (where, SMPD: N,N'-bis(salicylaldehyde)-m-phenylenediimine, SPPD: N,N'-bis(salicylaldehyde)-p-phenylenediimine, L: Py, DMSO and DMF). We identified the binuclear structure of these complexes by elemental analysis, IR-spectrum, and T. G. A. According to the results of cyclic voltammetry and DPP measurements in aprotic solvents containing 0.1M TEAP as supporting electrolyte, it was found that diffusionally controlled redox process of two step for one electron was reversible or quasi reversible process in 0.1M TEAP-pyridine and 0.1M TEAP-DMSO solution at mononuclear complexes; [Co(II)(SOPD)(L)$_2$]. But, we knew that diffusionally controlled reduction processes of four steps with one electron for binuclear [Co(II)$_2$(SMPD)$_2$(L)$_2$] and [Co(II)$_2$(SPPD)$_2$(L)$_2$] complexes was Co(III)$_2\;{\longrightarrow^e}$ Co(III)Co(II) ${\longrightarrow^e}$ Co(II)$_2\;{\longrightarrow^e}$ Co(II)Co(I) ${\longrightarrow^e}$ Co(I)$_2$ in aprotic solvents.

Pentadentate Schiff base cobalt(II) complexes; Co(II)(Sal-DET) and Co(II)(Sal-DPT) were synthesized and these complexes were allowed to react with dry to form oxygen adducts of cobalt(II) complexes such as [Co(III)(Sal-DET)]$_2O_2$ and [Co(III)(DPT)]$_2O_2$ in aprotic solvents. These complexes have been identified by IR spectra, TGA, DSC, magnetic susceptibility measurements, and elemental analysis. It has been found that the oxygen adadduct complexes of $\mu$-peroxo type have hexaccordinated octahedral configuration with pentadentate schiff base cobalt(II) and oxygen, but the mole ratio of oxygen to cobalt(III) complexes of first step for oxygen adduct formation reaction of cobalt(II) complexes in aprotic solvents are 1:1. The redox reaction processes of Co(II)(Sal-DET), Co(II)(Sal-DPT), and oxygen adduct of cobalt(II) complexes were investigated by cyclic voltammetry and DPP method with glassy carbon electrode in 0.1M TEAP-DMSO and 0.1M TEAP-pyridine. As a result the reduction reaction processes of Co(III)/Co(II) and Co(II)/Co(I) for cobalt(II) complexes and oxygen adducts of cobalt(II) complexes are two irreversible steps of one eletron process, and reaction processes of oxygen for oxygen adducts complexes were quasireversible and redox range of potential was $E_{pc}$ = -0.97V∼-0.86V and $E_{pa}$ = -0.87V ∼ 0.64V.
We synthesized the binuclear Tetradentate Schiff base nickel(II) and copper(II) complexes ; [Ni(II)$_2$(SMPO)$_2$(L)$_2$], [Ni(II)$_2$(SPPD)$_2$(L)$_2$] and [Cu(II)$_2$(SMPD)$_2$] and [Cu(II)$_2$(SPPD)$_2$] (where, L : Py, DMSO and DMF). We identified the structure of these complexes by elemental analysis, IR-spectrum, T.G.A, D.S.C and ESR measurements. According to the results of cyclic voltammetry and DPP measurements in aprotic solvent included 0.1M TEAP as supporting electrolyte, we knew that diffusional controlled redox process of one step with one electron was irreversible process in 0.1M TEAP-Py solution. Also it was reversible or quasi reversible process in 0.1M TEAP-DMSO solution and reversible or E.C reaction mechanism in 0.1M TEAP-DMF solution at mononuclear complexes ; [Cu(II)(SOPD)] and [Ni(II)(SOPD)(L)$_2$]. But, we knew that diffusional controlled redox process of two step for one electron of binuclear complexes was as follows. The values of redox potential for dimeric complexes in 0.1M TEAP-L solution (where, L ; Py, DMSO and DMF) with scan rate 100mV/sec.
Chloramphenicol was studied by differential pulse polarography (DDP). A reduction peak which is dependent on pH of the solution appeared in the voltage range between zero and -1.50 volt vs. Ag/AgCl (sat. KCl) reference electrode. A plot of peak potentials (Ep) measured at room temperature (20$^{\circ}C$) vs. pH of the chloramphenicol solutions showed linear relationship changing slope (Ep/pH) at pH 8.9. The slope was -59.7 mV/pH in pH 2.7∼8.9 and -24.3 mV/pH in pH 8.9∼11.2, respectively. A log plot of peak currents (ip) vs. concentrations showed a linearity at the concentrations between 4.8 ${\times}$ 10$^{-7}$ M and 6.2 ${\times}$ 10$^{-5}$ M (0.16 ppm∼20 ppm) chloramphenicol in pH 8.0 ammonium buffer. Between the DPP method and the reference method measuring absorbance at 278 nm, the correlation coefficient was 0.996, which means an excellent linearity. The DPP method was able to detect degradation products of chloramphenicol in mild alkaline solution (pH = 8.0) more distinctly than the spectrophotometric method.

Agastachis Herba (AH) to treat anorexia and nausea and its antidiabetic efficacy was recently reported. This study examined the antioxidant activities and chemical constituents of AH and predicted the target proteins of each compound using in silico approaches. The results showed that EC50 values of AH methanol extract for DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging were 78.6 ㎍/mL and 31.0 ㎍/mL, respectively. Compared to the EC50 values of ascorbic acid (9.9 ㎍/mL, 5.2 ㎍/mL), the AH methanol extract possessed excellent antioxidant activities. Rosmarinic acid, tilianin, agastachoside, and acetin were confirmed as the major compounds of extracts by qualitative analysis performed with HPLC-PDA-MS/MS. The antidiabetic target proteins of these compounds were predicted by applying a structural similarity and inverse docking methodology using a DIA-DB server. The resulting target proteins were PPAR-γ, DPP IV, glucokinase, α-glucosidase, SGLT2, aldose reductase, and corticosteroid 11-beta-dehydrogenase, some of which have already been proven experimentally as target proteins. Therefore, the in silico methods can be considered valid. Finally, AH were extracted with various solvents to determine the optimal conditions for the extraction of active components. Methanol among organic solvents and 80% ethanol in ethanol-water mixtures were identified as the most effective solvent for the extraction.

The aim of this study is to examine the effect of Caulerpa okamurae ethanol extract (COE) on glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity as one of the drug targets for treatment of type2 diabetes. COE significantly inhibited protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP1B) and dipeptidyl peptidase-IV (DPP-IV) enzyme activities in vitro assay. Also, COE significantly enhanced the glucose uptake and the expression of insulin receptor substrate-1 (IRS-1) and glucose transporter4 (GLUT4) proteins in 3T3-L1 adipocytes or zebrafish larvae compared with control. In dexamethasone-induced resistance model of L6 myotubes, the protein expression of insulin signaling and glucose uptake was effectively increased by the treatment of COE. In contrast, the elevated phosphorylation of IRS-1 Ser307 was normally suppressed by treatment of COE. However, COE had no effect on insulin secretion in pancreatic beta cells. Thus, our results suggest that COE improves the glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity through the regulation of insulin signaling and GLUT4 protein in insulin's target cells and zebrafish larvae.

Organic field-effect transistors (OFETs) are attracting attention in the field of next-generation electronic devices, and they can be fabricated on a flexible substrate using an organic semiconductor as a channel layer. In particular, DPP-based semiconducting conjugated polymers are actively used because they have higher charge carrier mobility than other organic semiconductors, but they are still lower than inorganic semiconductors, so various studies are being conducted to improve the charge carrier mobility. In this study, the charge carrier mobility is improved by controlling the surface energy of the substrate by forming self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). As the surface energy of the substrate is controlled by the SAMs, the crystallinity increases, thereby improving the charge carrier mobility by 14 times from 3.57×10-3 cm2V-1s-1 to 5.12×10-2 cm2V-1s-1
Phthalate esters are used extensively as a plasticizer in the manufacture of plastic products such as PVC bags and medical devices. Recently, phthalate esters have been shown to induce endocrine system mediated responses. However. only a Jew studies have been conducted for estrogenic activity of phthalate esters. In this study estrogenic activities of seven phthalate esters. butyl benzyl phthalate (BBP), di(2-ethylhexyl) phthalate (DEHP), di-n-butylphthalate (DBP), diethylphthalate (DEP), di-n-pentylphthalate (DPP), di-n-propylphthalate (DPrP) and dicyclohexylphthalate (DCHP), were examined in vitro using E-screen assay and competitive binding assay. From the E-screen assay, BBP. DEHP. DBP and DEP showed weak estrogenic activity at the concentration of 5 $\mu\textrm{M}$. The relative proliferative effect (RPE) and the relative proliferative potency (RPP) were 50~70% and 0.01%. respectively, when compared with 500 pM of 17$\beta$-estradiol (E2). In competitive binding assay with the rat uterine estrogen receptor (ER), BBP and DEP showed weak binding potency [(l/$10^4$~1/$10^5$ of E2] while DEHP and DBP scarcely bound to ER. These results suggest that some phthalate esters have weak estrogenic activities in vitro.

This study examines the cost and benefit (i.e., income) of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) rubber plantations in Thailand. The study attempts to identify the challenges to the implementation of FSC standards in rubber plantations in the country. A total of 60 rubber farmers in two Southern provinces, namely, Songkhla and Rayong, were interviewed through a standardized questionnaire to gather primary data. The study found that small-, medium- and large-sized FSC rubber plantations were worth investing in. All sizes of rubber plantations had similar values of benefit cost ratio (BCR). It was also found that the values of the discount payback period (DPP) of the three forms of FSC rubber plantations were 9-12 years, while the large rubber plantations had the highest internal rate of return (IRR) (19.0%). It implies that the large-size plantations had the highest values. The rubber farmers in the study area reported that they are facing a number of problems and hardships in implementing FSC standards, lacking knowledge and understanding of FSC, especially for preparing documentation. Therefore, the Thai government should take proper policy initiatives to remove all the problems and barriers in implementing FSC standards for the sustainable rubber production in the country.
