순환여과식 사육장치내에서 이스라엘계 잉어(Cyprinus carpio)의 성장을 위한 최적용존산소량 (Optimum Dissolved Oxygen Level for the Growth of the Israeli Strain of Common Carp, Cyprinus carpio in the Recirculating Water System)

  • 부산수산대학 어류양식연구실 순환여과식장치내에서 1985년 8월 28일부터 9월 17일까지 DO농도에 대한 이스라엘계 잉어의 성장효과를 알아보기 위한 실험이 수행되었다. 순환여과사육장치중의 5개 탱크를 이용하여 동일조건하에서 DO농도 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 및 4.0mg/l로 구분하여 실험했고 실험어는 평균 300g으로 각 탱크에 200kg씩 방양 사육한 결과는 다음과 같았다. DO 3.5mg/l 구에서 사료계수 1.57, 일일성장율 $1.411\%$로서 가장 좋은 성장결과를 얻었으며 DO 4.0mg/l 구에서는 사료계수 1.63, 일일성장률 $1.365\%$를 나타냈다. 그리고 사료섭취량은 이 두 실험구에서 거의 같았으며 DO 3.0mg/l 농도이하에서는 성장율과 사료섭취량이 현격히 감소했다. 실험기간동안 2.0mg/l와 2.5mg/l 농도에서는 사료섭취가 활발하지 않았으며 사료를 먹고난 후 대부분이 주수구에 몰려 산소부족현상을 나타냈고, 4.0mg/l 구에서는 5미가 columnaris 병에 의한 아가미 부식병으르 폐사했다. 이상의 결과를 종합해 볼 때 순환여과식장치내에서 평균수온 $27.5^{\circ}C$에서 DO 3.5mg/l와 4.0mg/l에서 거의 같은 좋은 성장률과 사료효율을 나타냈으므로 DO 3.5mg/l 이상만 유지시키면 에너지 효율면에서 경제적이 된다고 사료되고, 4.0mg/l 또는 그 이상에서는 energy의 낭비를 초래하고, 또한 부작용이 나타날 가능성이 있지만 이에 대해서는 더욱 연구해 볼 필요가 있다.

Prediction of pollution loads in agricultural reservoirs using LSTM algorithm: case study of reservoirs in Nonsan City

  • The recurrent neural network (RNN) algorithm has been widely used in water-related research areas, such as water level predictions and water quality predictions, due to its excellent time series learning capabilities. However, studies on water quality predictions using RNN algorithms are limited because of the scarcity of water quality data. Therefore, most previous studies related to water quality predictions were based on monthly predictions. In this study, the quality of the water in a reservoir in Nonsan, Chungcheongnam-do Republic of Korea was predicted using the RNN-LSTM algorithm. The study was conducted after constructing data that could then be, linearly interpolated as daily data. In this study, we attempt to predict the water quality on the 7th, 15th, 30th, 45th and 60th days instead of making daily predictions of water quality factors. For daily predictions, linear interpolated daily water quality data and daily weather data (rainfall, average temperature, and average wind speed) were used. The results of predicting water quality concentrations (chemical oxygen demand [COD], dissolved oxygen [DO], suspended solid [SS], total nitrogen [T-N], total phosphorus [TP]) through the LSTM algorithm indicated that the predictive value was high on the 7th and 15th days. In the 30th day predictions, the COD and DO items showed R2 that exceeded 0.6 at all points, whereas the SS, T-N, and T-P items showed differences depending on the factor being assessed. In the 45th day predictions, it was found that the accuracy of all water quality predictions except for the DO item was sharply lowered.

Mechanism Analysis of Effect of Oxygen on Molecular Weight of Hyaluronic Acid Produced by Streptococcus zooepidemicus

  • Dissolved oxygen (DO) has a significant effect on the molecular weight of hyaluronic acid (HA) during the fermentation of Streptococcus zooepidemicus. Therefore, to further investigate the effect of DO on the yield and molecular weight of HA, this study compared the metabolic flux distribution of S. zooepidemicus under aerobic conditions at various DO levels. The metabolic flux analysis demonstrated that the HA synthesis pathway, considered a dependent network, was little affected by the DO level. In contrast, the fluxes of lactate and acetate were greatly influenced, and more ATP was generated concomitant with acetate at a high DO level. Furthermore, the has gene expression and HA synthase activity were both repressed under anaerobic conditions, yet not obviously affected under aerobic conditions at various DO levels. Therefore, it was concluded that the HA molecular weight would seem to depend on the concomitant effect of the generation of ATP and reactive oxygen species. It is expected that this work will contribute to a better understanding of the effect of the DO level on the mechanism of the elongation of HA chains.

Corrosion Fatigue Cracking of Low Alloy Steel in High Temperature Water

  • Fatigue crack growth test or low alloy steel was performed in high temperature water. Test parameters were dissolved oxygen content. loading frequency and R-ratio ($P_{min}/P_{max}$). Since the sulfur content or the steel was low, there were no environmentally assisted cracks (EAC) in low dissolved oxygen(DO) water. At high DO, the crack growth rate at R = 0.5 tests was much increased due to environmental effects and the crack growth rate depended on loading frequency and maximized at a critical frequency. On the other hand, R = 0.7 test results showed an anomalous decrease of the crack growth rate as much different behavior from the R = 0.5. The main reason of the decrease may be related to the crack tip closure effect. All the data could be qualitatively understood by effects of oxide rupture and anion activity at crack tip.

혐기와 호기 상태의 물과 토양에서 pH, PO4-P, 탁도, T-P 농도 관계 (Relationship between Concentration of Phosphorus, Turbidity, and pH in Water and Soil under Aerobic and Anaerobic Conditions)

  • 본 연구는 호수바닥에 있는 인의 용출 메카니즘을 규명하고자 유기물이 없는 시료(흙)에 호기성과 혐기성 실험하여 인 용출을 연구하였다. T-P의 증가 대부분은 $PO_4-P$ 증가에서 기인됐고, 약 pH 4-7 정도에서 $PO_4-P$는 호기, 혐기 그리고 pH 변화에도 점진적인 증가를 나타낸 원인은 한번 용출된 $PO_4-P$는 탁도에 흡착되지 않고 용존 하면서 계속해 탁도물질에서 $PO_4-P$를 용출하기 때문이다. T-P, 탁도, pH 그리고 DO의 유사한 변화 양상은 시료의 포도당 분해 시 DO 감소로 혐기화되면 유기산이 생성되어 pH가 감소하고, 탁도물질은 pH 감소로 침전이 촉진되며, 침전된 탁도물질은 미생물의 분해작용이 없어도 인이 용출된다. 이 메카니즘은 호수 바닥으로부터 물로 공급되는 인을 이해할 때 대단히 중요하다.

호흡률 및 송풍기 제어 기반 포기조 최적 DO 농도 설정과 전력 비용 절감 연구 (Optimal DO Setpoint Decision and Electric Cost Saving in Aerobic Reactor Using Respirometer and Air Blower Control)

  • 하수처리장을 운영함에 있어 안정적인 방류수질 확보와 이에 따른 처리 비용을 최소화하는 것이 주요 목적이다. 하지만 유입수 유량 및 성분 농도의 변화와 미생물의 비선형적인 동특성, 기타 환경 요인에 의해서 최적의 운전 제어를 하기가 쉽지 않기 때문에, 기존의 하수처리장에서는 필요한 양 이상의 폭기 및 화학물질을 과량 주입하는 방법 등을 사용하였다. 본 연구에서는 포기조에서 미생물에 필요한 용존산소농도는 유지하면서 과폭기로 인한 전력 비용을 감소하는 최적 제어 방법을 제안하였다. 하수조성와 포기조 미생물의 호흡률은 실시간 미생물 호흡률 측정기(Oxygen uptake rate, OUR)를 이용하여 측정하였고, 실시간 호흡률 측정값을 바탕으로 현재 미생물에 필요한 최적 DO 농도를 제안하였다. 유입수 부하변동에 따라 변화하는 미생물 호흡에 필요한 산소량 만큼만 폭기하도록 구성함으로써, 방류수 수질기준을 만족함과 동시에 전력 비용을 최소화할 수 있는 방안을 제시하였다.

  • An advanced mobile technology is described for saturating water with oxygen. The MTR(Mass Transfer Reactor) is 2~10 times more effective in dissolving oxygen in water compared to most other systems used in aquaculture, because it can generate extremely small(0.005~0.05mm) bubbles. New fish farming facilities could make use of this technology to build deeper ponds for raising multiple species with optimized conditions for DO(dissolved oxygen), food, light, etc. The proposed technology offers higher DO levels with minimal operating costs. It is easy to use and maintain, with a high reproducibility. Accordingly, the MTR can be industrially applied in the treatment of fish waste and reduction of water consumption during fish farming.

하수처리장의 포기조 최적 DO 농도 산정 및 공기송풍량 자동제어를 통한 에너지 절감 효과 도출 (A Study on Energy Saving Effect from Automatic Control of Air Flowrate and Estimation of Optimal DO Concentration in Oxic Reactor of Wastewater Treatment Plant)

  • 생물학적 하수처리공정에서 안정적인 방류수질 확보와 처리 비용을 적게 하는 것은 매우 중요하다. 하지만 유입수 유량 및 성분 농도의 변화와 미생물의 비선형적인 동특성, 기타 환경 요인에 의해서 최적의 운전 제어를 하기가 쉽지 않기 때문에, 기존의 하수처리장에서는 필요한 양 이상의 폭기 및 화학물질을 과량 주입하는 방법 등을 사용하였다. 본 연구에서는 포기조에서 미생물에 필요한 용존산 소농도를 유지함과 동시에 과폭기로 인한 전력 비용을 감소할 수 있는 최적 제어 방법을 제안하였다. 최적 제어를 위하여 실시간 미생물 호흡률 측정기(Oxygen uptake rate, OUR)을 이용하여 측정하였고, 실시간 호흡률 측정값을 바탕으로 현재 미생물에 필요한 최적 DO 농도를 제안하였으며, 이에 따라 공기송풍기가 자동제어될 수 있도록 구성하였다. 최적 제어 방법을 통하여 하수처리장 포기조의 공기 송풍량에 소요되는 전력비용을 절감할 수 있었다.

Application of CE-QUAL-W2 [v3.2] to Andong Reservoir: Part I: Simulations of Hydro-thermal Dynamics, Dissolved Oxygen and Density Current

  • A two-dimensional (2D) reservoir hydrodynamics and water quality model, CE-QUAL-W2, is employed to simulate the hydrothermal behavior and density current regime in Andong Reservoir. Observed data used for model forcing and calibration includes: surface water level, water temperature, dissolved oxygen and suspended solids concentration. The model was calibrated to the year of 2003 and verified with continuous run from 2000 till 2004. Without major adjustments, the model accurately simulated surface water levels including the events of large storm. Deep-water reservoirs, like Andong Reservoir, located in the Asian Monsoon region begin to stratify in summer and overturn in fall. This mixing pattern as well as the descending thermocline, onset and duration of stratification and timing of turnover phenomenon were well reproduced by the Andong Model. The temperature field and distinct thermocline are simulated to within $2^{\circ}C$ of observed data. The model performed well in simulating not only the dissolved oxygen profiles but also the metalimnetic dissolved minima phenomenon, a common1y occurring phenomenon in deep reservoirs of temperate regions. The Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) values of model calibration for surface water elevation, temperature and dissolved oxygen were 0.0095 m, $1.82^{\circ}C$, and $1.13\;mg\;L^{-1}$, respectively. The turbid storm runoff, during the summer monsoon, formed an intermediate layer of about 15 m thickness, moved along the metalimnion until being finally discharged from the dam. This mode of transport of density current, a common characteristic of various other large reservoirs in the Asian summer monsoon region, was well tracked by the model.

2중 구조의 PVA/alginate 겔 비드에서의 독립영양 단일공정 질소제거효율 시뮬레이션 (Simulated Nitrogen Removal for Double-Layered PVA/Alginate Structure for Autotrophic Single-Stage Nitrogen Removal)

  • Recently, an autotrophic single-stage nitrogen removal (ASSNR) process based on the anaerobic ammonium oxidation (ANAMMOX) reaction has been proven as an economical ammonia treatment. It is highly evident that double-layered gel beads are a promising alternative to the natural biofilm for ASSNR because of the high mechanical strength of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA)/alginate structure and efficient protection of ANAMMOX bacteria from dissolved oxygen (DO) due to the thick outer layer. However, the thick outer layer results in severe mass transport limitation and consequent lowered bacterial activity. Therefore, the effects of the thickness of the outer layer on the overall reaction rate were tested in the biofilm model using AQUASIM for ammonia-oxidizing bacteria (AOB), nitrite-oxidizing bacteria (NOB) and ANAMMOX bacteria. A thickness of 0.5~1.0 mm is preferred for the maximum total nitrogen (TN) removal. In addition, a DO of 0.5 mg/L resulted in the best total nitrogen removal. A higher DO induces NOB activity and consequent lower TN removal efficiency. The optimal density of AO B and NO B density was 1~10% for a 10% ANAMMOX bacterial in the double-layered PVA/alginate gel beads. The real effects of operating parameters of the thickness of the outer layer, DO and concentrations of biomass balance should be intensively investigated in the controlled experiments in batch and continuous modes.
