Effects of Cellulose and Pectin on Diet-induced Thermogenesis in Young Women (한국인 젊은 여성에서 셀룰로오스 및 펙틴이 식이성 발열효과에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of fiber free control diet (CD), cellulose diet (CED) and pectin diet (PTD) on diet induced thermogenesis (DIT) in healthy Korean woman for 3 hours. The three test diets were as follows: CD (carbohydrate intake: 63.4% of energy, protein intake: 14.0% of energy and fat intake: 25.8% of energy), CED (carbohydrate intake: 62.5% of energy, protein intake: 14.0% of energy and fat intake: 26.1% of energy) and PTD (carbohydrate intake: 62.7% of energy, protein intake: 14.0% of energy and fat intake: 26.2 of energy). Groups were served 10 g of cellulose for CED and 10 g of pectin for PTD, respectively. DIT was measured at fasting state and at 30, 60, 90, 120, 150 and 180 min after consuming each diet. The mean age of all subjects was $22.3{\pm}1.9$ years. Body weight was $52.5{\pm}8.6$ kg and body mass index was $20.6{\pm}2.7kg/m^2$. Preprandial resting energy expenditure was $0.79{\pm}0.02kcal/min$ and postprandial DIT were $14.05{\pm}0.62%$ for CD, $9.33{\pm}0.62%$ for CED, $11.07{\pm}1.35%$ for PTD as a percentage of the energy load. DIT of CD was significantly higher than those of CED and PTD. There was no significant difference in postprandial change in body temperature after consuming each test diets and the sympathetic nervous system activity measured by heart rate was significantly higher in CD than CED and PTD (p<0.05). With this study, it can be concluded that CED and PTD have significantly lowered in DIT (p<0.05). We didn't show the correlation of the factors that relate in DIT; thus, further experiments on that matter should be followed.

Memory Reduction Method of DIT-based IFFT Bit-Reversal (DIT 기반 IFFT의 Bit-Reversal 메모리 감소 기법)

  • IFFT is one of the key components in OFDM-based communication systems. In this paper, we propose a new memory efficient IFFT design method for OFDM-based communication systems, based on a mapping of three IFFT input signals which consist of modulated data, pilot and null signals. The proposed method focuses on reducing the memory size in the bit-reversal block which requires the largest number of memory cells in IFFT architectures. To reduce the memory size, we propose a selection mapping method based on decimation-in-time (DIT) algorithm. It is shown that the proposed method achieves a memory reduction of about 50% compared to conventional methods.

  • Purpose: This Study was performed to measure the moral judgment of nursing students, and to identify an effect of ethics education being provided to nursing students. Method: This study is a kind of nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest using the Korean version of DIT which can measure the level of human's moral development. Result: In experimental group, the posttest scores on 4 stage and P are higher than the pretest of them, but these gaps between posttest and pretest are not statistically significant. The posttest scores of lower group on 4 stage and P are higher than the pretest scores of them, and these gaps are statistically significant in experimental group. The posttest scores of higher group on 4 stage and P are lower than the pretest scores of them, and these gaps are statistically significant in control group. Conclusion: It is concluded that the ethics education being provided to nursing students has an effect in this study. And it is suggested that it may be a good strategy to use the various scores of DIT to verify an effect of ethics education.

  • The primary aim of the color constancy algorithm is to estimate illuminant chromaticity. There are various statistical-based, learning-based and combinational-based color constancy algorithms already exist. However, the statistical-based algorithms can only perform well on images that satisfy certain assumptions, learning-based methods are complex methods that require proper preprocessing and training data, and combinational-based methods depend on either pre-determined or dynamically varying weights, which are difficult to determine and prone to error. Therefore, this paper presents a new optimization based illuminant estimation method which is free from complex preprocessing and can estimate the illuminant under different environmental conditions. A strong color cast always has an odd standard deviation value in one of the RGB channels. Based on this observation, a cost function called the degree of illuminant tinge(DIT) is proposed to determine the quality of illuminant color-calibrated images. This DIT is formulated in such a way that the image scene under standard illuminant (d65) has lower DIT value compared to the same scene under different illuminant. Here, a swarm intelligence based particle swarm optimizer(PSO) is used to find the optimum illuminant of the given image that minimizes the degree of illuminant tinge. The proposed method is evaluated using real-world datasets and the experimental results validate the effectiveness of the proposed method.

Effects of High Carbohydrate, High Fat and Protein Meal on Postprandial Thermogenesis in Young Women (한국인 젊은 여성에서 고당질, 고지방 및 고단백질 식사가 식후 열생성에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of high-carbohydrate (HC) diet, high-protein (HP) diet and high-fat (HF) diet with a normal diet (N) on diet-induced thermogenesis (DIT) in healthy Korean women. The four isoenergetic test meals consisted as follows: HC (75$ \% $ energy from carbohydrate, 10$ \% $ from protein and 15$ \% $ from fat), HP (10$ \% $ energy from carbohydrate, 75$ \% $ from protein and 15$ \% $ from fat) HF (15$ \% $ energy from carbohydrate, 10$ \% $ from protein and 75$ \% $ from fat) diet and N (65$ \% $ energy from carbohydrate, 15$ \% $ from protein and 20$ \% $ from fat) diet. Fasting and postprandial thermogenesis were measured after each test meals in eight subjects by indirect calorimetry for 3 hours. Fasting and postprandial serum glucose, insulin and triacylglycerol contents were also measured for 3 hours. DIT were 10.4$\pm$3.2 for HC, 12.7$\pm$0.5 for HP, 6.9$\pm$2.8 for HF and 8.7$\pm$4.8 for N diet as a percentage of the energy load. DIT of HP was greater than HF significantly, but had no differences with HC and N Integrated areas under the curves ($ \delta- $-AUC) of plasma glucose and insulin were significantly higher for HC compared to HP, HF and N diets. $ \delta$-AUC of plasma triacylglycerol was significantly higher for HF compared to the other test meals. In conclusion, intake of protein rich meal stimulates postprandial energy expenditure, but has no relation between DIT and insulin response, body composition.

Ethics in University: Cognitive Moral Development and Gender

  • This study examines the accounting students' level of moral development at the university. In this study, we focused on the effects of ethics subject and gender on moral development. Therefore, we compare the moral development of male and female students. We evaluated 216 students in Cognitive Moral Development (CMD) from 17 universities in Indonesia. We measured CMD with the Defining Issues Test (DIT) model developed by Rest in 1986. The findings show that there is no difference in DIT scores between students who have taken the ethics subject and who have not taken. We also confirm female students have a higher DIT score than male students. Our study results show that gender plays an important role in the ethics issue. Our study strengthens the previous research about the effect of ethics study and ethics courses on CMD. This study has an implication for ethics education in university wherein the curriculum or the system should be prepared carefully. Although the results of this study did not show that ethics subject has a strong impact on students' CMD, we still believe that the ethics course plays a significant role in the accountants' morals. For that reason, we argue that morals need time to be developed, and cannot be taught in a short-term course. Future research is needed to explore more about this issue.

Evaluation of Results of Dynamic Immersion Test Using Digital Image Analysis (Digital Image Analysis를 이용한 동적수침시험 평가방법의 개선 연구)

  • PURPOSES : The objective of this study was to evaluate the results of the dynamic immersion test (DIT) through digital image analysis (DIA). METHODS : The asphalt binder retained post DIT was inspected visually by more than three investigators. However, because visual observations can be subjective, depending on the inspector's skills and knowledge, DIA was also performed. The threshold value for the DIA was determined by a mesh analysis, in which the digital image to be analyzed is divided into very small meshes. In addition, the bitumen bond strength (BBS) test was also performed to the compare the visual results with the mechanical values. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS : Depending on the materials used, various methods can be used to predict the behavior of retained asphalt. However, the increasing ratio in the trend of retained asphalt shows different behaviors among the evaluation methods. In this study, the results of the visual observations were significantly different from those of the DIA, the mesh analysis, and the BBS tests. Thus, DIA is an appropriate method for evaluating the results of the DIT. However, in order to use this technique in the field, it is necessary to determine a more reasonable threshold value by performing DIA on various materials.

  • 기술의 발전에 따라 촬영기기 및 영상장비들의 성능이 비약적으로 향상되고, 본격적인 UHD(Ultra High Definition) 시대가 맞이하여 자연스럽게 소비자들은 더 나은 화질을 요구하고 많은 콘텐츠업체들은 초고화질기술을 적용시킨 작품을 제작하고 있다. 또한, 고품질 콘텐츠에 대한 요구 뿐 만 아니라 데이터 관리(Data Management) 및 색보정(Calibration) 등 이와 관련된 기술의 중요도 증가되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 DIT(Digital Imaging Technician) 작업을 차량 내에서 할 수 있도록 특수제작 된 차량을 제작함으로써 현장에서 실시간으로 컬러 그레이딩(Color Grading), 데이터 관리(Data Management) 업무를 수행하여 업무 효율성을 높이고 제작편의성을 증대하고자 한다. 컬러 그레이딩과 데이터 관리라는 요소들이 현재 방송분야보다는 영화와 관련한 분야에서 많이 사용되지만 UHD 시대가 열리는 미래의 방송환경에서는 방송에서도 중요한 요소가 되고 있다.

  • We propose new metrics for understandability and modifiability of class inheritance structures based on the object-oriented metrics suggested by Chidamber and Kemerer. The metrics are evaluated using the results of Gursaran s experiments which validated the empirical relation of DIT(Depth of Inheritance Tree) and NOC(Number of Children) metrics of Chidamber and Kemerer.

  • In this paper, we extract interface trap density with treatment of gate dielectric of OTFT's. Interface trap densities in this paper were extracted from transfer curves. We obtained interface trap densities in pentacene / PVP interface Non-treated device has $1.4{\times}10^{12}cm^{-2}eV^{-1}$ Dit and treated device has $1.1{\times}10^{12}cm^{-2}eV^{-1}$ Dit.
