  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the applicability of DGS(dynamic geometry software) for the assessment of reasoning ability and the influence of DGS on the process of assessing students' reasoning ability in middle school geometry. We developed items for assessing students' reasoning ability by using DGS in the connected form of 'construction - inductive reasoning - deductive reasoning'. And then, a case study was carried out with 5 students. We analyzed the results from 3 perspectives, that is, the assessment of students' construction ability, inductive reasoning ability, and justification types. Items can help students more precisely display reasoning ability Moreover, using of DGS will help teachers easily construct the assessment items of inductive reasoning, and widen range of constructing items.

  • Since PISA2006, the computer based assessment in mathematics(CBAM) was introduced for the first times and at last PISA2015 used all items in CBAM for problem solving. In this study, we focused on which important properties were considered in constructing geometric 'fence items' used in PISA 2015 to find the future direction over our teacher education, especially for constructing 'computer based assessment items.' For the purpose of the study, we analyzed the fence items on three components such as dependency, invariant, and path found in dragging activities, within a computer environment using the dynamic Geometry Software, GSP. Also, for the future, we provided an open-ended problem related to the fence items, which we could use as the merit of computer-based environment.

  • For the instruction of units dealing with the conic section, the most important factor that we need to consider is the connections. In other words, the algebraic approach and the geometric approach should be instructed in parallel at the same time. In particular, for the students of low proficiency who are not good at algebraic operation, the geometric approach that employs visual representation, expressing the conic section's characteristic in a dynamic manner, is an important and effective method. For this, during this research, to suggest the importance of dynamic visual representation based on GeoGebra in teaching Quadratic Curve, we taught an experimental class that suggests the instruction method which maximizes the visual representation and analyzed changes in the representation of students by analyzing the part related to the unit of a parabola from units dealing with a conic section in the "Geometry and Vector" textbook and activity book.
