Performance Test of APIS, DELOS Algorithm using Paramics (Paramics를 이용한 APID, DELOS평가)

  • The central core of the Traffic Management System is an Incident Management System. Whole approach has been component-orientated, with a secondary emphasis being placed on the traffic characteristics at the sites. The first action taken during the development process was the selection of the required data for each components within the existing infrastructure of Algeria freeway system. After review and analysis of existing incident detection methodologies, Paramics was utilized to test the performance of APID, DELOS algorithms. The existing system of Algeria freeway was tested in a different configuration at different sections of freeway, thereby increasing the validity and scope of the overall findings. The incident detection module has been performed according to predefined system validation specifications. The Paramics simulation was done with the use of synchronous analysis, thereby providing a means for testing the incident detection module.

  • The proliferation of digital libraries (DL) in the twenty-first century has revolutionized the way information is generated and disseminated. This has led to various practical and research models of DLs. This paper discusses the concept and development of digital libraries, and examines various components and characteristics of DLs. It further identifies various models and theories of digital libraries with a special focus on the DELOS Reference Model and 5S Theory. The relationship between the two focused frameworks is analyzed for better understanding of their application in the DL universe.

  • This paper is designed to report the results of development and validation procedures in relation to the Freeway Incident Management System (FIMS) prototype development as part of Intelligent Transportation Systems Research and Development program. The central core of the FIMS is an integration of the component parts and the modular, but the integrated system for freeway management. The whole approach has been component-orientated, with a secondary emphasis being placed on the traffic characteristics at the sites. The first action taken during the development process was the selection of the required data for each components within the existing infrastructure of Korean freeway system. After through review and analysis of vehicle detection data, the pilot site led to the utilization of different technologies in relation to the specific needs and character of the implementation. This meant that the existing system was tested in a different configuration at different sections of freeway, thereby increasing the validity and scope of the overall findings. The incident detection module has been performed according to predefined system validation specifications. The system validation specifications have identified two component data collection and analysis patterns which were outlined in the validation specifications; the on-line and off-line testing procedural frameworks. The off-line testing was achieved using asynchronous analysis, commonly in conjunction with simulation of device input data to take full advantage of the opportunity to test and calibrate the incident detection algorithms focused on APID, DES, DELOS and McMaster. The simulation was done with the use of synchronous analysis, thereby providing a means for testing the incident detection module.

Development of An Automatic Incident Detection Model Using Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test (Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test 기법을 이용한 자동돌발상황검지 모형 개발)

  • 본 연구는 Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test 기법을 이용한 자동 돌발상황 검지 모형을 개발하는 것이다. 본 연구의 수행을 위하여 고속도로에 설치된 루프 차량 검지기(Loop Vehicle Detection System)에서 수집된 점유율 데이터를 사용하였다. 기존의 검지모형은 산정하기가 까다로운 임계치에 의하여 돌발상황을 검지하는 방식이었다. 반면 본 연구 모델은 위치와 시간대 교통 패턴에 관계없이 모형을 일정하게 적용하며, 지속적으로 돌발상황 지점과 상·하류의 교통패턴을 비교 검정 기법인 Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test 기법을 사용하여 돌발상황 검지를 수행하도록 하였다. 연구모형의 검증을 위한 테스트 결과 시간과 위치에 관계없이 정확하고 빠른 검지시간(돌발 상황 발생 후 2∼3분)을 가짐을 알 수 있었다. 또한 기존의 모형인 APID, DES, DELOS모형과 비교검증을 위하여 검지율 및 오보율 테스트를 수행한 결과 향상된 검지 능력(검지율 : 89.01%, 오보율 : 0.97%)을 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 그러나 압축파와 같은 유사 돌발상황이 발생되면 제대로 검지를 하지 못하는 단점을 가지고 있으며 향후 이에 대한 연구가 추가된다면 더욱 신뢰성 있는 검지모형으로 발전할 것이다.

  • This study aims at developing the model that is able to detect the compression wave, which is included as a similar situation in incidents, that causes false applicable to the similar character such as incidents in the incident detection model for expressways. In this study, it has been checked whether the number of false alarms is decreased or not by modularizing this model for being able to applicable to other models such as DES and DELOS, etc. which do not perform the compression wave test based on the compression wave test process of APID model which has been being used in the expressway traffic management system currently. The evaluation in this study focuses on the sensitivity of the model and the results analysis is performed classified by each polling cycle. And how well these models are working is evaluated by each polling cycle. In addition to this, the detection rate, the false alarm rate and the average detection time in both the existing models and the model in this study are calcuated. As a result of appling the model in this study, it is found that the false alarm rate is improved through the reasonable decrease in the number of false alarm frequencies and there are not remarkable changes concerning the detection rate and the average detection time. To sum up, it is expected that a good number of improvement effects will be occurred when this model is applied to the actual expressway traffic management system.

Development of an AIDA(Automatic Incident Detection Algorithm) for Uninterrupted Flow Based on the Concept of Short-term Displaced Flow (연속류도로 단기 적체 교통량 개념 기반 돌발상황 자동감지 알고리즘 개발)

  • Many traffic centers are highly hesitant in employing existing Automatic Incident Detection Algorithms due to high false alarm rate, low detection rate, and enormous effort taken in maintaining algorithm parameters, together with complex algorithm structure and filtering/smoothing process. Concerns grow over the situation particularly in Freeway Incident Management Area This study proposes a new algorithm and introduces a novel concept, the Displaced Flow Index (DiFI) which is similar to a product of relative speed and relative occupancy for every execution period. The algorithm structure is very simple, also easy to understand with minimum parameters, and could use raw data without any additional pre-processing. To evaluate the performance of the DiFI algorithm, validation test on the algorithm has been conducted using detector data taken from Naebu Expressway in Seoul and following transferability tests with Gyeongbu Expressway detector data. Performance test has utilized many indices such as DR, FAR, MTTD (Mean Time To Detect), CR (Classification Rate), CI (Composite Index) and PI (Performance Index). It was found that the DR is up to 100%, the MTTD is a little over 1.0 minutes, and the FAR is as low as 2.99%. This newly designed algorithm seems promising and outperformed SAO and most popular AIDAs such as APID and DELOS, and showed the best performance in every category.

  • This study was to build a collaborative digital library model between KSTI and JST for sharing science and technology information created in Korea and Japan. For this study, digital library framework, it's main concepts and widely-used digital library technologies were investigated. And also, best practices of collaborative digital library were surveyed to characterize collaborative digital library trends. Collaborative Sci-Tech digital library model proposed in this study can be applied in real environment and expanded into other institutions and/or subject areas.

  • The purpose of this research is to evaluate the health performance of existing buildings which completed green remodeling using the WELL Building Standard developed by Delos in the USA. The features and the level of improvement in health were examined and the results were as follows. As a result of comprehensive evaluation of the health performance of the target building, the health performance after green remodeling improvement was improved by 17.3% compared to before green remodeling. As a result of applying the alternatives for improving health performance, improvements were 22.9% by Alternative 1, 28.8% by Alternative 2, and 28.7% by Alternative 3. If the improvement ratio with respect to the construction cost were compared, Alternative 1 was the best followed by Alternative 2. Finally, the cost effectiveness of improving health performance against construction cost were best in the order of self-closing door installation, airtight seal, and pest inspections.

Predictors and Prevalence of Alcohol and Cannabis Co-use Among Filipino Adolescents: Evidence From a School-based Student Health Survey

  • Objectives: This study explored the prevalence and predictors of alcohol and cannabis co-use among 9263 Filipino adolescents, using data from the 2019 Global School-based Student Health Survey (GSHS). Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional secondary analysis of the GSHS, targeting adolescents aged 13-17 years and excluding cases with incomplete data on alcohol and cannabis use. Our analysis employed the bivariate chi-square test of independence and multivariable logistic regression using Stata version 18 to identify significant predictors of co-use, with a p-value threshold set at 0.05. Results: The weighted prevalence of co-users was 4.2% (95% confidence interval [CI], 3.4 to 5.3). Significant predictors included male sex (adjusted odds ratio [aOR], 4.50; 95% CI, 3.31 to 6.10; p<0.001) and being in a lower academic year, specifically grade 7 (aOR, 4.08; 95% CI, 2.39 to 6.99; p<0.001) and grade 8 (aOR, 2.20; 95% CI, 1.30 to 3.72; p=0.003). Poor sleep quality was also a significant predictor (aOR, 1.77; 95% CI, 1.29 to 2.44; p<0.001), as was a history of attempted suicide (aOR, 5.31; 95% CI, 4.00 to 7.06; p<0.001). Physical inactivity was associated with lower odds of co-use (aOR, 0.45; 95% CI, 0.33 to 0.62; p<0.001). Additionally, non-attendance of physical education classes (aOR, 1.48; 95% CI, 1.06 to 2.05; p=0.021), infrequent unapproved parental checks (aOR, 1.37; 95% CI, 1.04 to 1.80; p=0.024), and lower parental awareness of free-time activities (aOR, 0.63; 95% CI, 0.45 to 0.87; p=0.005) were associated with higher odds of co-use. Factors not significantly linked to co-use included age group, being in grade 9, always feeling lonely, having no close friends, being bullied outside school, and whether a parent or guardian understood the adolescent's worries. Conclusions: The findings highlight the critical need for comprehensive interventions in the Philippines, addressing not only physical inactivity and parental monitoring but also focusing on sex, academic grade, participation in physical education classes, sleep quality, and suicide attempt history, to effectively reduce alcohol and cannabis co-use among adolescents.
