Recently, many construction firms fall on hard times because construction business continues to stagnate. In this paper, we analyze the efficiency of the listed construction firms using a combined AHP and DEA model. In order to determine the input and output factors of DEA, the AHP model is applied to evaluate the importance of input and output factors. The benchmarking companies and efficiency value for the construction firms with inefficiency are also provided to improve the their efficiency. We analyzed the 57 listed companies consisted of 36 listed on KOSPI and 21 listed on KOSDAQ at the end of 2009. The analysis results show that eleven companies whose values of CCR are 1, and fourteen enterprises whose values of BCC efficiency are 1. In additions, the eleven firms have the scalability efficiency. Finally, we test the correlation between efficiency and the stock price and the correlation coefficient of efficiency group is 0.7 in the CCR model.

This paper presented a approach to the measurement of efficiency in container terminals in Korea. To perform this objective, it used Data envelopment analysis(DEA) which has particular applicability in the service sector. DEA as mathematical programming techniques enables relative efficiency ratings to be derived within a set of analysed units. So this paper investigated the efficiency employing DEA-CCR and DEA-BCC Model on data for 15 container terminals from 1998 through 2005. Results of this paper, suggested to some plan for operation strategy in Container terminals.

This study is to analyze the efficiency of oriental hospitals using DEA. The input variables are the numbers of doctors, nurses, medical technicians, and beds. The output variables are the numbers of annual inpatients and outpatients. The statistical analysis tools used are EnPas and IBM SPSS Statistics 19. The result in efficiency analysis by establishment type showed that the national and public hospitals had the most efficiency. In the case of location, the efficiency of the oriental hospitals in Seoul was the highest but those in the Metropolitan areas had a relatively low efficiency. If the number of the beds was generally less than 50 beds, the hospitals were highly efficient, but the hospitals in the medium category of 51-100 beds were low in efficiency. The Logistic regression analysis conducted to analyze the variables that have affected the efficiency of oriental hospitals resulted that the efficiency increased by 1.045 everytime the number of nurses increased by 1.

The supply of public libraries in Korea has been rapidly improving because of the recent increase for cultural demands and revitalization of the local culture. This paper aims to analyze the efficiency about 565 public libraries using Clustering DEA/AHP(CDA) model. This model is employed the efficiency analysis in order to incorporate project irreversibility and division due to the limit of resources spending. The results shows that the public libraries are divided into three groups which are large size libraries(Group 1), middle size libraries(Group 2) and small size libraries(Group 3). Their average efficiency was found as 0.89, 0.72 and 0.60 each.

Although the display industry plays an important role in the entire Korean economy, few empirical research has analyzed the efficiency of display companies. The purpose of this paper is to measure and analyze efficiency of korean listed display firms using DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) models. We evaluate the CCR and BCC efficiency in DEA models and the return to scale of the Korean listed display companies. The benchmarking companies and efficiency value for the display companies with inefficiency are also provided to improve their efficiency. We analyzed the 44 listed companies consisted of 7 listed on KOSPI and 37 listed on KOSDAQ at the end of 2010. The analysis results show six companies whose values of CCR are 1, and fourteen firms whose values of BCC efficiency are 1. In additions, the six companies have the scalability efficiency. Eventually the efficiency analysis can provide the valuable information for inefficient companies to find benchmarking companies and to improve their efficiency.

Since most of studies for information efficiency measurement of healthcare organizations have mainly focused on searching a measuring standard used for performance of informatization and each researchers subjective standard having been used, they can not be easily measured and objective. This study showed a possibility that efficiency measurement of healthcare organization can be performed by solving a problem related to objectiveness, which may occur in measuring many organization with many measuring items, with DEA (data envelopment analysis). For proving this possibility, efficiency evaluation and analysis for information resources utilization of domestic tertiary healthcare organizations have been performed by using DEA model. As a result, DMU (decision making unit) having efficiency rate of 1 will be evaluated that output is higher than input and information resources are being used efficiently, but on the other hand, DMU having efficiency rate of below 1 will be evaluated that output is lower than input and information resources are being used inefficiently, which is required to be improved.

Because the transport policy of Korea has overemphasized road, the physical distribution function of railroad has dwindled a great deal relatively. Recently, the railway has started to be embossed due to the rise of oil prices and environment problems, in addition the government is investing greatly in railroad. The railway corporation took a big step in its history in changing to a public corporation in 2005, and it has been making every possible endeavor to improve management. This research analyzed the trend and stability of the efficiency of railway container handling goods station in korea from 2002 to 2007 based on time of after being changed to a public corporation in 2005 in order to look into the trend of efficiency. The DEA- AR(Data Envelopment Analysis-Assurance Region) and the DEA-Window, widely used as the estimation techniques of the efficiency, were used. According to the results, the efficiency was a little enhanced in 2003 in comparison with 2002, after which it continuously decreased up to 2006 and again rose in 2007. The efficiency of the railway corporation was 0.6777, but after changing to a public corporation, it showed a trend of better efficiency after some transition period had passed.

There have been various research in analyzing airport productivity such as measuring total factor productivity using the models of translog cost function. DEA(Data Envelopment Analysis) model is very useful in measuring productivity with linear programming when the output is not clearly identified and measured quantitatively in such complex facilities as airport. This study is to measure airport productivity using DEA approach for Northeast Asia. Seven international airports were analyzed including Incheon International Airport in Korea, Cheklapkok Airport in Hongkong, Narita Airport in Japan, and Changi Airport in Singapore. With the productivity measured, we can identify one of the important aspects of comparative advantage in hub competition in Asia.

항공운송산업에서 항공화물이 차지하는 비중이 점차적으로 확대되고 있으며 향후 2020년(보잉은 2022년)까지의 성장률도 보잉과 에어버스에서는 여객 수요보다 화물수요가 각 1.3%, 0.8%의 높은 성장을 거둘 것이라는 전망을 하고 있다. 특히 에어버스에서는 아시아 태평양 지역 역내와 중국 발 유럽행의 항공화물이 평균 7.0%의 높은 성장을 할 것으로 전망하고 있다. 이러한 높은 성장 전망 외에도 항공화물이 항공운송산업 혹은 세계경제의 선행지표로도 사용되고 있다. 이렇듯 항공운송산업에서 항공화물 부문의 역할이 점차적으로 증대되고 있어 본 연구에서는 항공화물 사업부문에 많은 활동을 하고 있는 항공사의 효율성이 그렇지 않은 항공사의 효율성을 비교하는 연구를 하였다. 먼저 항공 화물 매출액 기준 상위 10개사(2002년 기준)의 효율성을 자료포락 분석(DEA, Data Envelopment Analysis)을 이용 분석하였다. 그리고 이를 이용하여 항공사 전체 매출액 상위 10개사(화물 매출액 상위 10개사를 제외), 미국의 9개 항공사(상위 50대 항공사 중), 기타 10개사를 선정하여 각각의 효율성 비교를 통하여 항공화물 사업을 활발히 하는 항공사와 그렇지 않은 항공사와의 효율성에 대해 상대적 비교를 하였다. 이를 통해 항공화물 사업 부문이 항공사의 경영 효율성에 미치는 영향에 대해 간접 비교를 시도하였다. 분석 결과 항공운송사업중 항공화물 부문이 상위 10대 항공사 효율성이 다른 그룹의 항공사 보다 높게 제시되었다. 이는 항공사의 운송 사업을 화물 운송과 여객 운송 부문의 공동 네트워크의 활용을 통한 시너지 효과를 통해 항공사 효율성을 높일 수 있음을 의미한다.

This study focuses on the use of competitive analysis to identify the effective benchmarking target through consulting techniques to derive improvements. After developed using DEA(Date Envelopment Analysis) the relative efficiency analysis tool for competitor analysis to apply in consulting on-site or within the organization, this study compared the new techniques and the existing techniques. This study was carried out as follows. First, through a review of the literature, consulting competitive analysis techniques and methodologies relative efficiency analysis technique DEA for research scholars examined. Second, DEA-based competitive analysis, multidimensional efficiency analysis is presented. Third, The case study was conducted to determine the suitability and practicality of this analysis method for public company "A".
