  • Generally additional leakage inductance and two clamp diodes are adopted into the conventional phase shift full bridge (PSFB) converter for reducing the voltage stress of secondary rectifier diodes and extending the range of zero voltage switching (ZVS) operation. However, since additional leakage inductance carries the ac current similar to the primary one, the core and copper loss oriented from additional leakage inductance can be high enough to decrease the whole efficiency of DC/DC converter. Therefore, in this paper, a new ZVS phase shift full bridge converter with separated primary winding (SPW) is proposed. Proposed converter makes the transformer and additional leakage inductor with one ferrite core. Using this method, leakage inductance is controlled by the winding ratio of separated primary winding. Moreover, by manufacturing the both magnetic components with one core, size and core loss can be reduced and it turns out the improvement of efficiency and power density of DC/DC converter. The operational principle of proposed converter is analyzed and verified by the 1.2kW prototype.

  • In this paper, we investigated the electrical characteristics through DC power at manufacturing the MIS capacitor insulator AIN thin film based on reactive sputtering method. In case of deposition temperature 250$^{\circ}C$, pressure 5mTorr, total flow rate 8sccm(Ar:4sccm N2:4sccm), AIN thin film was deposited with changing DC power. As DC power increses, resistivity is observed a little increase. When AIN thin film is deposited at 100W, the result shows leakage current 10$\^$-8/A/$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 0.1MV/cm. Otherwise, In case of depositing at 150W and 200W, the result shows that the characteristic of leakage current is under 10$\^$-9//$\textrm{cm}^2$ at 0.1MV/cm. In C-V characteristic with DC power, deep depletion phenomenon is observed at inversion region in 100W and 150W. In 200W, that phenomenon, however, was showed to decrease. It shows that the hysterisis increases with being increasing DC power.

  • In this paper, a new NMOS gate cross-connected current-mirror type bridge rectifier for UHF RFID applications is presented. The DC converting characteristics of the proposed rectifier are analyzed with the high frequency equivalent circuit and the gate capacitance reduction technique for reducing the gate leakage current due to the increasing of operating frequency is also proposed theoretically by circuitry method. As the results, the proposed rectifier shows nearly same DC output voltages as the existing NMOS gate cross-connected rectifier, but it shows the gate leakage current reduced to less than 1/4 and the power consumption reduced more than 30% at the load resistor, and it shows more stable DC supply voltages for the valiance of load resistance. In addition, the proposed rectifier shows high enough and well-rectified DC voltages for the frequency range of 13.56MHz HF(for ISO 18000-3), 915MHz UHF(for ISO 18000-6), and 2.45 GHz microwave(for ISO 18000-4). Therefore, the proposed rectifier can be used as a general purpose one to drive RFID transponder chips on various RFID systems which use specified frequencies.

  • The objective of the study is to design and develope a 13kW zero voltage switching DC-DC Converter far high power application. Due to using the snubber capacitor in the right leg instead of increasing transformer leakage inductance, DC characteristics and the total efficiency in the proposed ZVS DC-DC converter is increased mere than in the conventional ZVS DC-DC converter by reduction of the circulating current when the load current is large. Also, this paper includes simulation and experimental results of the proposed ZVS FB DC-DC converter.

  • In contrast to AC grounding systems, the ground electrode in DC systems continuously maintains positive or negative polarity. Ground electrodes with (+) polarity proceeds by oxidation reaction. Thus, the DC current should flow opposite to the polarity of the leakage current flowing through the (+) ground electrode by using a compensation electrode, and the current flowing through the (+) ground electrode can be 0A. However, according to protecting the (+) ground electrode, the compensation electrode corrodes and gets damaged. Thus, the (+) ground electrode must be protected from corrosion, and the service life of the compensation electrode must be extended. As an alternative, the average value of the current flowing through the compensation electrode should be equal with the value of the leakage current flowing through the (+) ground electrode by using the square waveform. Throughout the experiment, the degree of corrosion on the compensation electrode is analyzed by the frequency of the compensation electrode for a certain time. In the experiment, the frequencies of the square waveform are considered for 0.1, 1, 10, 20, 50, 100 Hz, and 1 kHz. Through experiments and analysis, the optimal frequency for reducing the electrolytic damage of the (+) electrode and compensation electrode in an LVDC grounding environment is determined.

  • It is well known that the degradation of transformer oil conseqently lead to the failure of transformer. This paper discussed the characteristics of the degradation sensor checking transformer oil condition in live line. The degadation sensor is composed of base ring, electrodes and porous ceramic, passed through the transformer oil and checks the transformer oil condition through sensor's leakage current. So it is important to minimize the leakage current of base ring and connection parts. To investigate the leakage current of base ring and connection parts the characteristics of V-T-I and DC 2 KV and other examinations were performed. It is verified that ionized transformer oil caused by the expansion of temperature increases in the leakage current of porous ceramic sensor. It is certification that the leakage current of other parts of porous ceramic is very small(about 2%) compared with the porous ceramic body and it is confirmed that the leakage current in porous ceramic is changed sensitively according to the new oil(NO) and and the degradation oil(DO).

  • Only the power is converted from AC to DC, in accordance with IEC 60587 based test method, in order to develop the LSR(Liquid Silicone Rubber) insulator material for HVDC, the experiment of Inclined Plate Tracking and Erosion Resistance was conducted. A contaminant (2.5 mS/cm: ammonium chloride) was applied at a rate of 0.3 ml/min and a voltage of ${\pm}3.5kV$, and was evaluated on the basis of 60 mA/2s. The samples were prepared by dispersing LSR/Nano silica_25wt% Composites in LSR. The erosion phenomena of surface discharge and tracking due to DC polarity and negative polarity were measured by image, leakage current maximum and thermal camera. The thermal imaging camera measured the surface temperature generated by the joule heat of the leakage current due to the drying discharge and the conductive current. After the measurement, the tracking and erosion mechanisms were evaluated for erosion weight, erosion depth and erosion length. Positive and negative polarity of LSR/Nano Silica_25wt% composite Tracking and erosion results show that positive polarity is more severe than negative polarity.

  • Recently, the high frequency isolated boost DC/DC converter has been widely used for the PCS (Power Conditioning System) system because of its small size and low cost. However, the high frequency isolated boost DC/DC converters applied the conventional voltage-fed converter and current-fed converter have the problems such as the high conduction losses and the surge voltage due to the high circulating current and the leakage inductance, respectively. To overcome this problems, in this paper the secondary LLC resonant converter is proposed, and the experimental results of the secondary LLC series resonant converter for boost DC/DC converter are verified on the simulation based on the theoretical analysis and the 700W experimental prototype.
