  • Spent nuclear fuel is highly radioactive and requires remote operation due to radiation exposure. Motors which have been used in the highly radioactive environments are a DC type because of their easy implementation on control system. However there are some problems such as mechanical maintenance of brush and commutator, high cost, and heavy material control. AC servo motors are applied and tested on fuzzy and conventional control algorithms. Fuzzy logic controls of AC servo give adequate control accuracy and power for spent fuel handling in radioactive environments.

  • DC Motors have been widely used in industry as driving power motors for electrical vehicles cranes and winches due to their strong starting torques and as servo-motors for position and speed control systems due to their convenience of speed control etc. Generally in the speed control systems of motors speed sensors are required and this fact results in he increased price and operating cost and in the limitted applications. This paper presents a new speed control method for sensorless DC motors. In this scheme the speed signal is estimatd by the measurement values of the armature voltage and current. A Fuzzy feedback controller instead of the conventional PID controller. Through simulations the effectiveness and usefullness of the proposed method are illustrated.

뉴로 관측기를 이용한 교류서보 전동기 제어 (AC Servo Motor Control Using Neuro Observer)

  • DC servo motors have a defect that they need a periodical maintenance because of a brush commutation and also they have a difficulty at high speed operation. In this reason, the use of AC Servo motors are increasing these days. In this paper, a proposed neuro observer is applied to speed control of AC servo motor. The proposed observer complement a problem that occur from increase of gain of High-gain observer in proportion to the square number of observable state variables. And also, the proposed observer can tune the gain obtained by differentiating observational error automatically by using the backpropagation training method to stabilize the observational speed. The excellence and feasibility of the proposed observer is proved by making a comparison test between the proposed observer and the others applied to the same AC servo motor.

  • The servo system requires faster and more accurate dynamic responses. A new technique for the position control of DC servo motors is presented in this paper. The proposed technique employs a Self Tuning Regulator Proportional Integral Derivative(STR PID) position control systems in order to improve the dynamic performance of a DC servo motor. Recursive -least -squares (RLS) method is used in order to estimate the STR PID coefficients, $K_P$, $K_I$, and $K_D$. In order to consider dynamics such as voltage, angular velocity, and rotor angle, the above method was applied position control system.

  • This research presents the parallel control scheme of PID servo-driver for shaping of the curved glass. The designed system consists of a PC, main controller and 11 servo-drivers. Each elements are connected by using RS-232C and 8-bit bus communication. In order to guarantee the stability and the control performance, we use the LM629, a precision PID motion controller, and LMD18200, a H-bridge on the servo-drivers. PC calculates position values of 11 DC motors by using the pre-determined curvature value and offers the user interface environment operator.

  • In this paper, we discuss about the real-time distributed system for the control of to motors using uCOS-II kernel. Real-time kernel needs to process the tasks for two motors in desired time to synchronize motion. We used both semaphore and message mail box for synchronization. In the previous study, we used step motors for the actuator of two axes robot, but could not draw a clear line because of motor resolution and synchronizing step pulse. To resolve the problem we rebuilt the transfer robot with DC motors and the dedicated position servor which had built in out lab. Moreover we developed the PC based graphic user interface for generating planar drawing image control. Experimental results also presented to show the proposed control system is useful.

  • Two control algorithms for synchronizing multiple DC motors are proposed to compensate load variation and gain mismatches. Specifically, a mathematical model of a practical DC servo system is drived and analyzed to see synchronizing effect at the steady-state. Also a compensator is proposed to synchronize multiple motors at the transient-state. As an experimental system, two-axis synchronizing control system is developed and tested to show the validities of our proposed method.

  • In this paper, we consider feedback-kinearizing control of brushless dc motors which have been increasingly used in high-performance servo applications, We completely characterize the whole class of the feedback controllers that enable the brushless dc motors to behave like linear systems but without torque ripple. The whole class of the feedback-linearizing controllers is characterized in the explicit form which contains a function to be chosen freely. The previously known controllers correspond to either the particular ones in our whole class of the feedback-Linearzing controllers or their truncated Fourier expansions. This free function can be used to achieve other control objectives as well as linear dynamic characteristics. Furthermore, our feedback-linearizing controllers can be easily determined from the measurement data of back EMF.

  • In this paper, the design and the implementation of the controller for an articulate robot, which is developed in our Automatic Control Laboratory, are mainly discussed. The controller reduces software computational load via distributed processing method using multiple CPU's, and simplifies structures by the time-division control with TMS320C31 DSP chip. The method of control is based on the fuzzy-compensated PID control with scale factor, which compensates for the influence of load variation resulting from the various postures of the robot with conventional PID scheme. The application of the proposed controller to the robot system with DC servo-motors shows some excellent control capabilities. Also, the response characteristics of system for the various trajectory commands verify the superiority of the controller.
