This study was carried out to investigate the residual level of 5-methyl-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-b][1.3] benzothiazole (tricyclazole) and the amount of transfer to Korean cabbage grown in treated soil with tricyclazole. The field trial on Korean cabbage was done at two different green houses located in Gwangju (Field 1) and Yongin (Field 2). Soil and cabbage samples were collected at different days after soil treatment of tricyclazole with two different concentration levels, respectively. Average recoveries of tricyclazole ranged from 83.5 to 92.1% in soil and cabbage and the variation coefficient was 1.3-6.8%. The initial concentrations of tricyclazole in field 1 soil were 4.25 and 8.97 mg/kg and decreased to 2.48 and 4.26 mg/kg at 43 DAT (day after treatment) and 0.88 and 2.02 mg/kg and decreased to 0.43 and 0.98 mg/kg at 36 DAT in field 2, respectively. The half-life of tricyclazole was about 39.6 and 28.1 days for the low and high concentration of tricyclazole treated soils in field 1 and 27.9 and 17.2 days for the low and high concentration of tricyclazole treated soils in field 2, respectively. Residual levels of tricyclazole in Korean cabbage were ranged from 4.03 to 18.26 and from 8.26 to 35.08% of initial concentration in filed 1 and field 2 soils, respectively.

This study was conducted to investigate the residual level and the amount of transfer to lettuce grown in field condition treated with the 5-methyl-1,2,4-triazolo[3,4-b][1,3]benzothiazole (Azoxystrobin). The field trials on lettuce were carried out at two different green houses located in Gwangju (Field 1) and Yongin (Field 2). Soil and lettuce samples were collected at different days after soil treatment of azoxystrobin with two different concentrations, respectively. Average recoveries for azoxystrobin ranged from 86.9 to 113.6% from soil and lettuce with the variation coefficient of 0.1-4.6%. The initial concentrations of azoxystrobin in Gwangju soil were 9.20, 11.00 mg/kg and decreased to 1.36, 2.70 mg/kg at 43 DAT (days after treatment) in field 1, while 1.06, 2.23 mg/kg decreased to 0.20 and 0.67 mg/kg at 36 DAT in field 2, respectively. The half-lives of azoxystrobin were about 19.4 and 23.3 days for the low and high concentration of azoxystrobin treated soils in field 1 and 11.5 and 17.8 days in field 2 soils, respectively. Residue levels of azoxystrobin in lettuce were not detected in filed 1 and field 2 soils, respectively.
Objectives : Acupuncture is frequently used as an alternative therapy for Parkinson's disease(PD) in Korea. Using 1-methyl-4-phenyl-1,2,3,6-tetrahydropyridine(MPTP)-induced Parkinson's disease mouse model, the present study investigated a possible role of acupuncture stimulation at GB34 in suppressing dopaminergic neuronal death and regulating the phosphorylation of protein kinase B(Akt) in substantia nigra(SN) and striatum(ST). Methods : Eight-week-old male C57BL/6 mice were administered intraperitoneally with 30 mg/kg of MPTP at 24-h intervals for 5 days. Acupuncture stimulation at GB34 or SI3 was performed once a day for 12 days consecutively from the first MPTP injection. After the last acupuncture stimulation, pole test was performed to assess the effect of the acupuncture stimulations. Dopaminergic neuronal survival in the SN and the ST, dopamine transporter( DAT) and caspase-3 expression in the ST were evaluated by immunohistochemistry. The phosphorylations of Akt in the SN and the ST were measured by Western blotting. Results : MPTP administration caused behavioral impairment and dopaminergic neuronal death in the SN and the ST. It also decreased DAT expression and increased caspase-3 expression in the ST. Acupuncture stimulation at GB34 alleviated these MPTP-induced impairments. Moreover, MPTP suppressed Akt phosphorylation in the SN and the ST, whereas acupuncture stimulation at GB34 alleviated the phosphorylation in the SN. Conclusions : These results indicate that acupuncture stimulation at GB34 can inhibit MPTP-induced dopaminergic neuronal death and alleviate the Akt phosphorylation in the SN, suggesting a possible role for acupuncture in the treatment of PD.
For the development of integrated pest management system by harmonizing biological and chemical control, some experiments wee carried out to select low toxic pesticides against natural enemies. and their residual toxicity were evaluated. Leaf dipping method, body dipping method, and diet treatment method were set up for the toxicity evaluation against Cotesia glomerata adults. We had tested 46 different pesticides (31 insecticides, 11 fungicides, 4 herbicides) at recommending concentration commonly used to control diamond back moth, disease and up-land weeds in chinese cabbage field. Twenty three insecticides, eleven fungicides, and four herbicides were shown to be low toxic to C. glomerata adults in the treatment of body dipping. After insecticide spraying at recommending dose on the chinese cabbage, we examined residual effect of insecticides by introducing natural enemies on different days. Safety interval for the introduction of C. glomerata adults was established according to the residual toxicity of pesticides. Safe insecticides for the introduction of C. glomerata adults at one day after treatment (DAT) were thiacloprid, acephate, chlorfenapyr, clothianidin and at 3 DAT were imidacloprid, deltamethrin, thiamethoxam, dimethylvinphos, emamectin benzoate.
Crop growth models are useful tools for understanding and integrating knowledge about crop growth. Models for predicting plant height, net photosynthesis rate, and plant growth of quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd.) as a leafy vegetable in a closed-type plant factory system were developed using empirical model equations such as linear, quadratic, non-rectangular hyperbola, and expolinear equations. Plant growth and yield were measured at 5-day intervals after transplanting. Photosynthesis and growth curve models were calculated. Linear and curve relationships were obtained between plant heights and days after transplanting (DAT), however, accuracy of the equation to estimate plant height was linear equation. A non-rectangular hyperbola model was chosen as the response function of net photosynthesis. The light compensation point, light saturation point, and respiration rate were 29, 813 and $3.4{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$, respectively. The shoot fresh weight showed a linear relationship with the shoot dry weight. The regression coefficient of the shoot dry weight was 0.75 ($R^2=0.921^{***}$). A non-linear regression was carried out to describe the increase in shoot dry weight of quinoa as a function of time using an expolinear equation. The crop growth rate and relative growth rate were $22.9g{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}d^{-1}$ and $0.28g{\cdot}g^{-1}{\cdot}d^{-1}$, respectively. These models can accurately estimate plant height, net photosynthesis rate, shoot fresh weight, and shoot dry weight of quinoa.

Environmental effect of water-saving irrigation on the emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) has not been well investigated. The objective of this study was to measure the effect of water-saving irrigation on GHGs as well as water use and rice production yield in paddy field condition in Korea. Four experimental runoff plots of 4x35 m in size were prepared at an existing paddy field. GHGs emission was measured during the 2012~2013 growing seasons while a Japonica rice variety was cultivated. Four different water management methods, 1) Continuous Flooding (CF), 2) Intermittent Drainage (ID), 3) Water Saving (WS), and 4) CF+WS, were used during a rice growing season to compare the effects of water management methods on GHGs emission. CF method is flooding all the time, ID method makes paddy water drained 40 days after transplanting for about two weeks, WS method maintains 2~3 cm water-level, which should be refilled when the water-level decreased to about 0 cm, and CF+WS method combines CF method before 30 days after transplanting (DAT) and WS method after 30 DAT. Regardless of water management methods, paddy field water was drained about 30 days before harvest. Amount of GHGs emission from WS plot was reduced by 69.3% compared to that from CF plot and by 59.0% compared to that from ID plot. Amount of GHGs emission from CF+WS plot was reduced by 60.7% compared to that from CF plot and by 47.5% compared to that from ID plot. Weed occurrence in CF+WS plots was reduced to 62.2% in comparison with the WS plot, implying that CF+WS plot showed the best effect to mitigation of the greenhouse gas emission in the atmosphere.
This paper presents three different search engines for the detection of CAD-parts in large databases. The analysis of the contained information is performed by the export of the data that is stored in the structure trees of the CAD-models. A preparation program generates one XML-file for every model, which in addition to including the data of the structure tree, also owns certain physical properties of each part. The first search engine is specializes in the discovery of standard parts, like screws or washers. The second program uses certain user input as search parameters, and therefore has the ability to perform personalized queries. The third one compares one given reference part with all parts in the database, and locates files that are identical, or similar to, the reference part. All approaches run automatically, and have the analysis of the structure tree in common. Files constructed with CATIA V5, and search engines written with Python have been used for the implementation. The paper also includes a short comparison of the advantages and disadvantages of each program, as well as a performance test.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the speech rate of an esophageal speech group that is capable of vocalization after surgery. The subjects in this experiment were 10 male esophageal speakers and 10 male laryngeal speakers. Each group read a reading passage that was recorded by a DAT recorder (Rolando, EDIROL R-09). These records were analyzed by using CSL (Computerized Speech Lab, model 4150). The results were as follows: (1) the overall speech rate of esophageal speech was 2.50 SPS (syllable per second) while the overall speech rate of laryngeal speech was 4.23 SPS. (2) The articulatory rate of esophageal speech was 3.14 SPS (syllable per second) while the articulatory rate of laryngeal speech was 4.75 SPS. Speech rates as well as articulatory rates of esophageal speech were significantly lower than laryngeal speech. These differences between the two groups may be due to reduced efficiency of airflows across the pharyngeal-esophageal segment for esophageal speakers when compared to airflow through the glottis for laryngeal speakers. These results would provide a guideline in speech rates for esophageal speakers in clinical settings.

Shipyards are potential environments for using IoT services, sensor networks, and delay tolerant networks. Simulations of those services and networks strongly rely on human mobility models. Results obtained with an unrealistic model may not reflect the true performance of applications, protocols, and algorithms in a shipyard. A lot of synthetic models for human movements have been studied but most of them are generic and focus on the daily movements of humans on city scales. Nevertheless, workers in shipyards have unique movement characteristics such as movement speed, pause time, and attractions places. For instance, workers usually move to some places, where they work, and rarely move to other places in the factory. Movement characteristics of workers not only depend on workers but also on tasks, which they do. For instance, workers, who paint ships, have similar movement speed and pause time. Hence, in this paper, human movements in shipyards are studied. We propose a new human mobility model called the human mobility mode in shipyards (MIS). In MIS, workers are classified into multiple types. Movement characteristics of a worker are similar to other workers in the same type. Based on the visiting probability, workers have some places, where they frequently visits, and some places, where they rarely visit. We analyze real mobility traces and studie to achieve human movement characteristics from real traces. The results show that MIS provides a well-match to the movement characteristic from real traces.
We present the first speech coarticulation database of Korean, English and Konglish/sup 3)/ named "SORIDA"/sup 4)/, which is designed to cover the maximum number of representations of coarticulation in these languages [1]. SORIDA features a compact database which is designed to contain a maximum number of triphones in a minimum number of prompts. SORIDA contains all consonantal triphones and vowel allophones in 682 Korean prompts of word length and in 717 English prompt words, spoken five times by speakers of balanced genders, dialects and ages. Korean prompts are synthesized lexicons which maximize their coarticulation variation disregarding any stress phenomena, while English prompts are natural words that fully reflect their stress effects with respect to the coarticulation variation. The prompts are designed differently because English phonology has stress while Korean does not. An intermediate language, Konglish has also been modeled by two Korean speakers reading 717 English prompt words. Recording was done in a controlled laboratory environment with an AKG Model C-100 microphone and a Fostex D-5 digital-audio-tape (DAT) recorder. The total recording time lasted four hours. SORIDA CD-ROM is available in one disk of 22.05 kHz sampling rate with a 16 bit sample size. SORIDA digital audio-tapes are available in four 124-minute-tapes of 48 kHz sampling rate. SORIDA′s list of phonetically-rich-words is also available in English and Korean.
