In this paper, we propose a new and cost-effective RCP (Rapid Control Prototyping) system based on Matlab/Simulink and a DAQ (Data Acquisition) unit with the high speed USB communication interface. The proposed RCP system has a feature that a computer on which Simulink is running acts as a realtime controller and a DAQ unit performs data acquisition, transmission of the data to and from a computer, and the application of control data received from the computer. For its implementation, we develop 10 communication blocks each of which is constructed by using S-function. In order to increase the data communication speed and thus to reduce the sampling period of the overall control system, we propose to use a batch transfer strategy through the USB interface. The proposed RCP system has several advantages over existing methods such as good maintainability, portability due to the USB interface, low cost, and no necessity for C-code generation even though it can only be applied to control systems with moderate sampling rates. It is expected that the proposed RCP system can be useful in teaching control-related topics to undergraduate and graduate students.
This paper is purposed to develop DAQ H/W, S/W and DB which can be used in developing electrical fire alarm system or in analyzing electrical fire cause, by detecting and monitoring precursor signals which have high possibility leading to electrical fire on electrical distribution wires. In this paper, developed was DAQ H/W adopting the C8051FXXX CPU which can analyze the measurement signals of current and voltage in electrical distribution wires, other CPU was investigated in view of the best digital sampling rate on the basis of previous researches for electrical fire alarm system. Also, the S/W which can interface with DAQ H/W's communication protocol and can be applied for electrical fire causes analysis, are embodied by LabVIEW. The combined DAQ H/W and S/W could analyze efficiently normal as well as abnormal electrical signals such as RMS value, instantaneous value of current and voltage, frequency signals etc, on the electrical wires. Also, DB system was constructed for recording various analysis results for precursor signals including voltage and current signals. The results by simulator and experiment showed that the suggested scheme with DAQ H/W, S/W and DB in this paper has high usability.

In recent machine learning studies, in order to consider the quality and completeness of data, derivation of non-functional requirements for data has been proposed from the viewpoint of requirements engineering. In particular, requirements engineers have defined data requirements in machine learning. In this study, data requirements were derived at the data acquisition (DAQ) stage, where data is collected and stored before data preprocessing. Through this, it is possible to express the requirements of all data required in the existing DAQ system, the presence of tasks (functions) satisfying them, and the relationship between the requirements and functions. In addition, it is possible to elicit requirements and to define the relationship, so that a software design document can be produced, and a systematic approach and direction can be established in terms of software design and maintenance. This research using existing DAQ system cases, scenarios and use cases for requirements engineering approach are created, and data requirements for each case are extracted based on them, and the relationship between requirements, functions, and goals is illustrated through goal modeling. Through the research results, it was possible to extract the non-functional requirements of the system, especially the data requirements, from the DAQ system using requirements engineering.

The large-area Compton camera (LACC), featuring significantly high detection sensitivity, was developed for high-speed localization of gamma-ray sources. Due to the high gamma-ray interaction event rate induced by the high sensitivity, however, the multiplexer-based data acquisition system (DAQ) rapidly saturated, leading to deteriorated energy and imaging resolution at event rates higher than 4.7 × 103 s-1. In the present study, a new simultaneous multi-channel DAQ was developed to improve the energy and imaging resolution of the LACC even under high event rate conditions (104-106 s-1). The performance of the DAQ was evaluated with several point sources under different event rate conditions. The results indicated that the new DAQ offers significantly better performance than the existing DAQ over the entire energy and event rate ranges. Especially, the new DAQ showed high energy resolution under very high event rate conditions, i.e., 6.9% and 8.6% (for 662 keV) at 1.3 × 105 and 1.2 × 106 s-1, respectively. Furthermore, the new DAQ successfully acquired Compton images under those event rates, i.e., imaging resolutions of 13.8° and 19.3° at 8.7 × 104 and 106 s-1, which correspond to 1.8 and 73 μSv/hr or about 18 and 730 times the background level, respectively.

A data acquisition (DAQ) system based on oscilloscope was developed and evaluated for radiation detector. The dedicated LabVIEW program that perform the oscilloscope control and the data process was developed. Triggered events for each analog channel were acquired and the output signals were subsequently digitized and recorded for offline processing. Radiation pulse generation circuit was developed to evaluate the intrinsic characteristics of DAQ system. Energy linearity and energy resolution performances were assessed by voltage-peak channels and FWHM obtained from Gaussian fit, respectively. Radiation detector consists of LYSO and GAPD array. The 16 output signals were multiplexed by the RCD networks, and they were fed into the custom-made preamplifiers. Voltage-peak channels was linearly changed as a function of input voltage and the estimated coefficient of determination ($R^2$) was 0.999. No considerable changes in voltage resolution were observed. All 16 crystals were clearly identifiable on the resulting flood image and the mean energy resolution was ~15.1%. This study demonstrated that it is feasible to develop the DAQ system based on oscilloscope and LabVIEW program for radiation detector and the proposed approach offers opportunities to build simple DAQ system in various radiation measurement field.

Background: For positron emission tomography (PET) application, cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) has been investigated by several institutes to replace detectors from a conventional system using photomultipliers or Silicon-photomultipliers (SiPMs). The spatial and energy resolution in using CZT can be superior to current scintillator-based state-of-the-art PET detectors. CZT has been under development for several years at the Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute (KAERI) to provide a high performance gamma ray detection, which needs a single crystallinity, a good uniformity, a high stopping power, and a wide band gap. Materials and Methods: Before applying our own grown CZT detectors in the prototype PET system, we investigated preliminary research with a developed discrete type data acquisition (DAQ) system for coincident events at 128 anode pixels and two common cathodes of two CZT detectors from Redlen. Each detector has a $19.4{\times}19.4{\times}6mm^3$ volume size with a 2.2 mm anode pixel pitch. Discrete amplifiers consist of a preamplifier with a gain of $8mV{\cdot}fC^{-1}$ and noise of 55 equivalent noise charge (ENC), a $CR-RC^4$ shaping amplifier with a $5{\mu}s$ peak time, and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) driver. The DAQ system has 65 mega-sample per second flash ADC, a self and external trigger, and a USB 3.0 interface. Results and Discussion: Characteristics such as the current-to-voltage curve, energy resolution, and electron mobility life-time products for CZT detectors are investigated. In addition, preliminary results of gamma ray imaging using 511 keV of a $^{22}Na$ gamma ray source were obtained. Conclusion: In this study, the DAQ system with a CZT radiation sensor was successfully developed and a PET image was acquired by two sets of the developed DAQ system.
The incidences of cardiovascular diseases are rapidly increasing worldwide. The electrocardiogram (ECG) is a test to detect and monitor heart issues via electric signals in the heart. Presently, detecting heart disease in real time is not only possible but also easy using the myDAQ data acquisition device and LabVIEW. Hence, this paper proposes a system that can acquire ECG signals in real time, as well as detect heart abnormalities, and through light-emitting diodes (LEDs) it can simultaneously reveal whether a particular waveform is in range or otherwise. The main hardware components used in the system are the myDAQ device, Vernier adapter, and ECG sensor, which are connected to ECG monitoring electrodes for data acquisition from the human body, while further processing is accomplished using the LabVIEW software. In the Results section, the proposed system is compared with some other studies based on the features detected. This system is tested on 10 randomly selected people, and the results are presented in the Simulation Results section.

At present many research projects on high-speed spindles are being conducted. These projects require a measurement technique which includes heat expansion, vibration and displacement measurement according to angular velocity. This paper presents the development of a measurement system for high-speed spindle displacement. The measurement system is based on $LabView^{(R)}$ and features the following sensors: optical sensor which reacts to the position of a marker on the spindle and enables two Laser Displacement Sensors(LDS). These Laser Displacement Sensors send their data to a DAQ(Data Acquisition Device). It is important that the delay time caused by the response times of the sensors as well as the sampling rate of the DAQ is considered because the spindle revolves at very high speeds.
