Samchulgeonbi-tang (SC) is well-known traditional herbal medicine which is composed of fourteen medicine herbs. SC has been used for the treatment of the chronic gastritis, indigestion, gastric ulcers, gastroptosis and diarrhea disease. The variation in the amount of bioactive components of SC and its fermentation SC with ten Lactobacillus strains were investigated via high-performance liquid chromatography coupled with diode array detection (HPLC-DAD). Simultaneous qualitative and quantitative analysis of seven bioactive compounds; paeoniflorin, liquiritin, hesperidin, liquiritigenin, kaempferol, atractylenolide III, magnolol were achieved by comparing their retention times ($t_R$) and UV spectra with those of the standard compounds. In the results, the amount of paeoniflorin and hesperidin were 7.967 mg/g, 7.251 mg/g that were the main compounds in SC. The amounts of liquiritigenin was increased by all ten Lactobacillus strains, except strain 128. Especially, the liquiritigenin amount was highest in SC fermented with strain 145 (0.201 mg/g), which was increased by 158.39% compared to SC (0.081 mg/g). In the fermented SC using strains 344, almost components were increased than non-fermented SC, except paeoniflorin and kaempferol. Thus, these results considered that the strains 145 and 344 are most excellent fermentation strains among the 10 species of fermentation strains.
Galgeun-tang (GGT) is a traditional medicinal formula that is widely prescribed to treat cold, asthma, and hives in Korea. Fermented herbal medicines can be made more effective than normal herbal medicines by increasing the absorption and bioavailability of the active compounds. In this study, we fermented Galgeun-tang to produce bioconversion constituents using Lactobacillus plantarum (GGT144), and found that four peaks were decreased, three peaks were increased and two new peaks appeared in the HPLC-DAD chromatogram. After HPLC-DAD-guided fractionation of the newly-appearing compounds (1 and 5) and the increased (6, 7, and 9) compounds, the structure of the compounds was determined using NMR and MS. Using this approach the compounds were identified to be pyrogallol (1), daidzein (5), liquiritigenin (6), cinnamyl alcohol (7), and formononetin (9), respectively. In addition, the decreased compounds were identified to be daidzin (2), liquiritin (3), ononin (4), and cinnam aldehyde (8) using HPLC-DAD analysis with standard compounds. The high performance liquid chromatography method was used to quantify the nine constituents in GGT and GGT144. All calibration curves of the standard compounds displayed excellent linearity with a $R^2$ > 0.9968.

A Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is a group of independent mobile computing nodes that consist of a multi-hop wireless network without a central administration or any infrastructure. Every node that wants to join a MANET must obtain an address for communication. Having a centralized DHCP server that provides addresses to nodes, we can easily and automatically obtain addresses. However, a MANET lacks any fixed infrastructure such as a DHCP server. We therefore propose a distributed address autoconfiguration approach for a MANET using a reserved address and optimistic Duplicated Address Detection (DAD). The reserved address helps to reduce the allocation latency, and the optimistic DAD guarantees the uniqueness of addresses and lessens communication overhead. We then suggest methods of handling network partition and network merging situations, and go on to evaluate our approach through simulations. The simulation result shows that our scheme guarantees the uniqueness of allocated address and considerably improves allocation latency and communication overheads.

Gumiganghwal-tang has been used for the treatment of common cold for a long-time. We developed an accurate and sensitive high performance liquid chromatography-diode array detection (HPLC-DAD) and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry method for the simultaneous determination of ferulic acid, baicalin, bergapten, methyl eugenol, glycyrrhizin, oxypeucedanin, wogonin, nodakenin, atractylenolide III, imperatorin, and atractylenolide I in Gumiganghwal-tang samples. The analytes were separated on a Shiseido C18 column ($5{\mu}m$, $4.6mm\;I.D.{\times}250mm$) with gradient elution with acetonitrile and 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid. Eleven compounds were quantitatively determined by HPLC-DAD and identified by LC-MS data. We also validated this method. The calibration curves of all the compounds showed good linear regression. The limits of detection and the limits of quantification ranged from 0.04 to 0.63 and from 0.12 to $1.92{\mu}g/mL$, respectively. The relative standard deviation values of intra- and inter-days of this method represented less than 2.9%. The recoveries were found to be in the range of 90.06 - 107.66%. The developed method has been successfully applied to the analysis of Gumiganghwaltang samples. The established HPLC method could be used to quality control of Gumiganghwal-tang.
This paper focuses on message complexity performance analysis of mobile ad hoc network (MANET) address autoconfiguration protocols (AAPs) in reference to link errors generated by mobile wireless nodes. An enhancement was made using a proposed retransmission limit, S, to be computed for error recovery (based on the link error probability), to measure message complexity of AAPs in reference to the link error probability, $P_e$. The control procedures for the retransmission limit have been included for each of the AAPs. Retransmission limit control is critical for efficient energy consumption of MANET nodes operating on limited portable energy. O-notation has been applied to analyze the upper bound of the number of messages generated by a MANET group of nodes. The AAPs investigated in this paper are strong duplicate address detection (DAD), weak DAD with proactive routing protocol (WDP), weak DAD with on-demand routing protocol (WDO), and MANETConf. Each AAP reacts different to link errors, as each AAP has different operational procedures. The required number of broadcasting, unicasting, relaying, and received messages of the nodes participating in a single-node joining procedure is investigated to asymptotically calculate the message complexity of each AAP. Computer simulation was conducted and the results have been analyzed to verify the theoretical message complexity bounds derived. The message complexity of WDP was lowest, closely followed byWDO, based on the simulation results and analysis of the message complexity under nominal situations. The message complexity of MANETConf was higher than WDO, and strong DAD resulted to be most complex among the four AAPs.

A simple high performance liquid chromatography - diode array detector (HPLC-DAD) method has been developed and validated for simultaneous determination of the six components (cinnamic acid, cinnamaldehyde, eugenol, atractylenolide I, atractylenolide III, and ergosterol) in Oryeongsan. In addition, identification of six marker compounds was conducted by a LC-MS/MS analysis. The six compounds in Oryeongsan were separated on Shishedo $C_{18}$ column (5 ${\mu}m$, $4.6{\times}250$ mm) at a column temperature of $30^{\circ}C$. The mobile phase was a mixture of 0.1% trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) water and acetonitrile employing gradient elution at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min. The detection wavelength was set at 205, 250, 280, and 330 nm. The developed method had good linearity ($R^2$ > 0.9997) and the limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) were observed within the ranges 0.01~0.15 and 0.05~0.45 ${\mu}g/mL$, respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) values of intra- and inter-day testing were indicated that less than 3% and 90.31~103.31% of accuracy. The results of recovery test were 90.56~106.72% and RSD range was measured from 0.84 to 2.95%. In conclusion, this HPLC-DAD method has been successfully applied to the simultaneous determination of six compounds in Oryeongsan samples.

Citrus junos seeds (CS) have been traditionally used for the treatment of cancer and neuralgia. They are also used to manufacture edible oil and cosmetic perfume. A large amount of CS shells without oil (CSS) are discarded after the oil in CS is used as foods or herbal remedy. To efficiently utilize CSS as a by-products, it needs to be studied through chemical analysis. Therefore, we developed an ultra-performance liquid chromatography (UPLC)-diode array detection (DAD) method for simultaneous determination and quantitative analysis of five components (two flavonoids and threes limonoids) in CSS. A Waters Acquity UPLC HSS T3 column C18 (2.1 × 100 mm, 1.8 ㎛) was used for this separation. It was maintained at 40 ℃. The mobile phase used for the analysis was distilled water and acetonitrile with gradient elution. To identify the quantity of the five components, a mass spectrometer (MS) with an electrospray ionization (ESI) source was used. The regression equation showed great linearity, with correlation coefficient ≥ 0.9912. Limits of detection (LOD) and limits of quantification (LOQ) of the five compounds were 0.09 - 0.13 and 0.26 - 0.38 ㎍/mL, respectively. Recoveries of extraction ranged from 97.45% to 101.91%. Relative standard deviation (RSD) values of intra- and inter-day precision were 0.06 - 1.15% and 0.19 - 0.25%, respectively. This UPLC-DAD method can be validated to simultaneously analyze quantities of marker flavonoids and limonoids in CSS.
A high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with DAD detector and electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS) was established for the simultaneous determination of coniferin (1), loganic acid (2), demethylsecologanol (3), sweroside (4) and loganin (5) from caulis Lonicera joponica. The optimal chromatographic conditions were obtained on an ODS column ($5{\mu}m$, $4.6{\times}150mm$) with the column temperature $35^{\circ}C$. The mobile phase was composed of (A) water with 0.1% formic acid and (B) methanol with 0.1% formic acid using a gradient elution, the flow rate was 0.3 ml/min. Detection wavelength was set at 254 nm. All calibration curves showed good linear regression ($r^2$>0.998) within test ranges. The developed method provided satisfactory precision and accuracy with overall intra-day and interday variations of 0.16~3.28% and 0.14~1.99%, respectively, and the overall recoveries of 99.39~105.89% for the five compounds analyzed. The verified method was successfully applied to quantitative determination of the two types (phenolic compounds and iridoids) of bioactive compounds in 24 commercial caulis L. japonica samples from different markets in Korea and China. The analytical results demonstrated that the contents of the five analytes vary significantly with sources.
(Wright & dore, 1970). AAMI(Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrument)
