Dynamic Active Earth Pressure of Gabion-Geotextile Bag Retaining Wall System Using Large Scale Shaking Table Test (진동대 실험을 이용한 게비온-식생토낭 옹벽 시스템의 동적주동토압 산정)

  • This study was conducted to characterize shearing strength of geotextile bag, connecting materials and gabion. A largescale shaking take tests were conducted to assess kinetic characteristics of gabion-geotextile bag retaining wall. Based on the results of large-scale shaking table test, dynamic characteristics of gabion-geotextile bag retaining wall structure against acceleration, displacement, and earth pressure were also analyzed. The increments of dynamic active earth pressure were determined to be (0.376-0.377)H at 1:0.3 slope and $(0.154-0.44)g_n$ earthquake acceleration, and (0.389-0.393)H at 1:1 slope, suggesting that the increments tend to rise as the slope decreases.

  • When designing building structures, dynamic serviceability is one of the most important items. Much research is being carried out on machine vibrations that affect inside residents and expensive equipment in the building structure. The vibration effect generally depends on the mass ratio, and an adequate mass ratio is determined by comparison with the serviceability limit according to the criteria. This study investigates the evaluation of vibration serviceability by using ISO 2631 to confirm the propriety of adequate mass ratios and it is verified that the application of a complicated FE model to model the real large shaking table facility with the mathematical model simulated as a SDOF system. The weighted RMS value is then compared with the comfort limit given by ISO 2631. As a result, the analysis of the numerical model is consistent with analysis of the FE model. Moreover, it is found that the adequate mass ratio of the concrete foundation and shake table, considering the self-weight of the real facility, should be less than 0.013. It is also confirm that the sample facility is satisfies the requirement of an adequate mass ratio.

  • This paper presents the results of analytical simulation of shake-table responses of a 1:5 scale 10-story reinforcement concrete(RC) residential building model by using the PERFORM-3D program. The following conclusion are drawn based on the observation of correlation between experiment and analysis; (1) The analytical model simulated fairly well the global elastic behavior under the excitations representative of the earthquake with the return period of 50 years. Under the design earthquake(DE) and maximum considered earthquake(MCE), this model shows the nonlinear behavior, but does not properly simulate the maximum responses, and stiffness and strength degradation in experiment. The main reason is considered to be the assumption of elastic slab. (2) Although the analytical model in the elastic behavior closely simulated the global behavior, there were considerable differences in the distribution of resistance from the wall portions. (3) Under the MCE, the shear deformation of wall was relatively well simulated with the flexural deformation being overestimated by 10 times that of experiment. This overestimation is presumed to be partially due to the neglection of coupling beams in modeling.

  • Food goods traded between Korea and Japan during the middle period of the Cho Sun era included Insam (Jinseng), rice, beans, honey, perilla oil, starch, adlay, walnuts, pine nuts, jujubes, hazelnuts, and dired chestnuts as exports ; and pepper as imports. The number of Japanese envoies that visited regularly was one thousand five hundred people a year. The receptions that were held for them during the middle period equaled those of the first term of the Cho Sun era, but these receptions were only held in Pu-san. The expense of daily meals was broken down into 8 grades ranging from \129,300 to 2133. The daily meals included Jo-ban (breakfast), Jo-seok-ban (breakfast and dinner), and Ju-jeom-shim (lunch) for the Japanese who visited regularly. During the course of a year, the total amount spent on daily meals was put at a billion won. The banquet style meals included Ha-seon-da-rye (a welcome tea party), Ha-seon-yeon (a welcome banquet), No-cha-yeon (a banquet that was held on the street), and Ye-dan-da-rye (a drink banquet that was held when silk was offered as a gift). It also included Byeol-yeon (a banquet out of the dordinary), Sang-seon-yeon (a farewell banquet), and Myong-il-yeon (a banquet that was held on a national holiday). The banquet style meals were composed of Ceon-tack (to set a table for dinner), Sang-hwa (a flower that was put on the food), Kwan-hwa (to offer a flower when a banquet was held), Ju-9-jan (the ninth wine glass), Dae-seon (meat), music, and Jung-bae-rye (a banquet that was held again after a banquet). The Cho Sun government held banquets forty five times for the Japanese, the food expense for the banquets was put at two hundred and thirty million won.

Wired/Wireless LED Lighting Communication Using Reconfigurable Peripheral Unit (재구성형 주변장치유닛을 사용한 유무선 LED 조명 통신)

  • In this paper, a reconfigurable peripheral unit for LED lighting communication is presented. Embedded lighting devices require various communication protocols. Usually, serial communication protocols and lighting control communication protocols such as DALI, DMX512, UART, SPI, IrDA, etc. are used in lighting devices. When the requirements of communication protocols are satisfied with separate IPs, the cost and the power consumption can considerably increase. We propose a reconfigurable communication peripheral unit which uses analysis of signal formats of the protocols. The gate count of the reconfigurable peripheral unit uses only 57% of the gate count of the separate implementation. Also, in this paper, a mapping table based DALI-ZigBee interfacing method for flexible lighting network configurations is proposed. Using this method, various DALI-ZigBee network systems can be easily set up. An LED lighting system platform is implemented to verify the operation of the DALI-ZigBee interfacing method. The reconfigurable peripheral unit and the DALI-ZigBee interfacing method can be efficiently used to implement various wired/wireless lighting communication systems.

  • This paper proposes a design and implementation of transversal adaptive digital filter using LMS (Least Mean Squares) adaptive algorithm. The filter structure is based on Distributed Arithmetic (DA) which is able to calculate the inner product by shifting and accumulating of partial products and storing in look-up table, also the desired adaptive digital filter will be multiplierless filter. In addition, the hardware implementation uses VHDL (Very high speed integrated circuit Hardware Description Language) and synthesis using FLEX10K Altera FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) as target technology and uses Leonardo Spectrum and MAX+plusII program for overall development. The results of this design are shown that the speed performance and used area of FPGA. The experimental results are presented to demonstrate the feasibility of the desired adaptive digital filter.

Speed Improvement of an FTICR Mass Spectra Analysis Program by Simple Modifications

  • Two simple algorithm modifications are made to the THRASH data retrieval program with the aim of improving analysis speed for complex Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance (FTICR) mass spectra. Instead of calculating the least-squares fit for every charge state in the backup charge state determination algorithm, only some charge states are pre-selected based on the plausibility values obtained from the FT/Patterson analysis. Second, a modification is made to skip figure-of-merit (FOM) calculations in the central m/z region between two neighboring peaks in isotopic cluster distributions, in which signal intensities are negligible. These combined modifications result in a significant improvement in the analysis speed, which reduces analysis time as much as 50% for ubiquitin (8.6 kDa, 76 amino acids) FTICR MS and MS/MS spectra at the reliability (RL) value = 0.90 and five pre-selected charge states with minimal decreases in data analysis quality (Table 3).

  • The emergence of RFID markets and development of various RFID-embedded mobile devices has brought fundamental changes to our lives. As the availability of RFID readers and tags that are implanted in smart phones and table PCs increases, information on RFID-affixed objects can be tracked wirelessly and this had open possibilities for B2B businesses to be run like B2C businesses. However, given the popularity of the RFID markets, there is limited research in this area. This paper serves to develop an extended technology acceptance model by Mobile RFID characteristics (perceived cost, security, instant connectivity, context awareness, and result demonstrability) examines the determinant factors that cause the acceptance of mobile RFID. To do so, the study conducted a survey targeting smart phone users and used the PLS path modeling, one of the structural equation models to verify the significance of research hypothesis. As a result, perceived cost, instant connectivity, context awareness, and result demonstrability turned out to have a real effect on intention to use mobile RFID by means of perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. Security turned out to have a partial effect on intention to use mobile RFID by means of perceived usefulness or perceived ease of Use.

  • Processing techniques of remote sensed image data using computer have been recognized very necessary techniques to all social fields, such as, environmental observation, land cultivation, resource investigation, military trend grasp and agricultural product estimation, etc. Especially, accurate classification and analysis to remote sensed image da are important elements that can determine reliability of remote sensed image data processing systems, and many researches have been processed to improve these accuracy of classification and analysis. Traditionally, remote sensed image data processing systems have been processed 2 or 3 selected bands in multiple bands, in this time, their selection criterions are statistical separability or wavelength properties. But, it have be bring up the necessity of bands selection method by data distribution characteristics than traditional bands selection by wavelength properties or statistical separability. Because data sensing environments change from multispectral environments to hyperspectral environments. In this paper for efficient data classification in multispectral bands environment, a band feature extraction method using the Rough sets theory is proposed. First, we make a look up table from training data, and analyze the properties of experimental multispectral image data, then select the efficient band using indiscernibility relation of Rough set theory from analysis results. Proposed method is applied to LANDSAT TM data on 2 June 1992. From this, we show clustering trends that similar to traditional band selection results by wavelength properties, from this, we verify that can use the proposed method that centered on data properties to select the efficient bands, though data sensing environment change to hyperspectral band environments.

  • In Dongeuibogam "東醫寶鑑", Qian Yi(錢乙)'s had been reorganized in more elaborated ways, comprising Ju dan Gae(朱丹溪)'s 'Yang is always sufficient and Yin is always deficient theory(陽有餘陰不足論) and Li Dong Yuan(李東垣)'s 'Theory of the Spleen and Stomach(脾胃論)'. In organizing the contents, 5 Organs(五臟) were mostly concerned especially 'the Heart, the Fire (心火) and the Kidney, the Water(腎水)' as the axis and 'the Spleen and Stomach(脾胃)' as the center of 5 Organs. Based on this concept, the patterns of disharmonies were categorized and the table of content was organized. In this book, 'Deficiency-Excess and Nourishing-Draining(虛實補瀉)'is the basic treatment rule and the concept of 'Yin and Yang(陰陽)' and 'Exterior and Interior(表裏)' is considered to help tell the prognosis. This book has importance of systemizing Qian Yi(錢乙)'s , which was previously mentioned in Hyangyakjipseongbang("鄕藥集成方"),Euibangyoochui("醫方類聚"), Euirimchyalyo("醫林撮要"), by comprising the theories of Jin Yuan Si Da J ia -the four great masters of the Jin Yuan Dynasties(金元四大家).
