A direct computation algorithm of two dimensional fast Fourier transform (2D-FFT) is considered here for implementation in mesh connected multiprocessor array of both a 2D-toroidal and a rectangular type. Results are derived for a hardware algorithm including data allocation and interprocessor communications. A performance comparison is carried out between the proposed direct 2D-FFT computation and the conventional one to show that a new algorithm gives higher speedup under a reasonable assumption on the speeds of operations.

This paper introduces a project for the development of an F-125 machine using 3D PLM systems including 3D CAD, CAM, CAE, PDM, and DMU systems. Here, the F-125 machine is a formula racing car equipped with a 125cc motorcycle engine. A development process and computer-integrated environment was established using 3D PLM systems on the conceptual basis of concurrent and virtual engineering. A DMU model for a full vehicle was built using CATIA V.5 and used to check interference between parts and to simulate assembly process. This DMU-based approach enables to find and fix manufacturing problems in the early design stage. All development activities have been done by the graduate and undergraduate students of the automotive engineering department of Kookmin University. Through the project, the students could acquire knowledge about car development process and 3D PLM systems in automotive industry.
We investigated the electronic structure and magnetism of the (3d, 4d)-Pd alloyed c($2{\times}2$) monolayer systems, by use of the FLAPW band method. For comparison, pure 3d- and 4d-transition metal monolayers are also considered. We found that the antiferromagnetic configuration of pure V monolayers is sustained in the V-Pd alloy system, while the Ti-Pd alloy system is changed to antiferromagnetic configuration from the ferromagnetic state in pure Ti monolayer. The 4d TM (Mo, Ru, Rh)-Pd monolayers are found to be stable in ferromagnetic configurations. The magnetic moments of Ru and Rh atoms in Ru-Pd and Rh-Pd systems are almost same with those of pure Ru and Rh monolayers, while the magnetic moment of Mo atom is increased to $2.98\;{\mu}_B$ in Mo-Pd alloyed system from the value of Mo monolayer, $0.02\;{\mu}_B$.
A monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) chip set consisting of a power amplifier, a driver amplifier, and a frequency doubler has been developed for automotive radar systems at 77 GHz. The chip set was fabricated using a 0.15 ${\mu}$ gate-length InGaAs/InAlAs/GaAs metamorphic high electron mobility transistor (mHEMT) process based on a 4-inch substrate. The power amplifier demonstrated a measured small signal gain of over 20 dB from 76 to 77 GHz with 15.5 dBm output power. The chip size is 2mm${\times}$ 2mm. The driver amplifier exhibited a gain of 23 dB over a 76 to 77 GHz band with an output power of 13 dBm. The chip size is 2.1mm${\times}$ 2mm. The frequency doubler achieved an output power of -6 dBm at 76.5 GHz with a conversion gain of -16 dB for an input power of 10 dBm and a 38.25 GHz input frequency. The chip size is 1.2mm ${\times}$ 1.2mm. This MMIC chip set is suitable for the 77 GHz automotive radar systems and related applications in a W-band.

We show that a strong system of derivations ${D_0, D_1,\cdots,D_m}$ on a commutative Banach algebra A is contained in the radical of A if it satisfies one of the following conditions for separating spaces; (1) $\partial(D_i) \subseteq rad(A) and \partial(D_i) \subseteq K D_i(rad(A))$ for all i, where $K D_i(rad(A)) = {x \in rad(A))$ : for each $m \geq 1, D^m_i(x) \in rad(A)}$. (2) $(D^m_i) \subseteq rad(A)$ for all i and m. (3) $\bar{x\partial(D_i)} = \partial(D_i)$ for all i and all nonzero x in rad(A).

In this paper, we propose an optimal relay selection scheme for decode-and-forward relaying systems. The optimal relay selection minimizes the number of time slots used to relay source's signal and maximizes an end-to-end signal-to-noise ratio. However, decode-and-forward relaying systems require additional overhead for the optimal relay selection. Assuming independent and identically distributed Rayleigh fading channels, we provide exact and closed-form expressions for the outage probability of capacity and the bit error rate for decode-and-forward relaying systems with the optimal relay selection. It is shown that the analytic results are perfectly matched with the simulated ones. When the numbers of relay nodes are 2, 4, and 8, and the numbers of time slots for overhead are 1, 2, and 4, respectively, the proposed system achieves 1 dB, 2 dB, and 3 dB gains at 1% bit error rate, respectively, and 0.5 dB, 4 dB, and 12 dB gains at 1% outage probability for 1 bps/Hz, respectively, over the conventional decode-and-forward relaying system.
This work describes the design and characterization of a X-band power amplifier (PA) monolithic microwave integrated circuit (MMIC) using a $0.25{\mu}m$ gate length gallium nitride (GaN) high electron mobility transistor (HEMT) technology. The developed X-band power amplifier MMIC has small signal gain of over 22.7 dB and saturated output power of 43.02 dBm (20.04 W) over the entire band of 9 to 10 GHz. Maximum saturated output power is a 43.84 dBm (24.21 W) at 9.5 GHz. Its power added efficiency (PAE) is 41.0~51.24% and the chip dimensions are $3.7mm{\times}2.3mm$, generating the output power density of $2.84W/mm^2$. The developed GaN power amplifier MMIC is expected to be applied in a variety of X-band radar applications.

This paper proposes some further improvements on N.K. Bose's 2D stability test for polynomials with real coefficients by revealing symmetric properties of the polynomials, resultants occurring in the test and by generalizing Sturm's method. The improved test can be fulfilled by a totally algebraic algorithm with a finite number of steps and the computational complexity is largely reduced as it involves only certain real variable polynomials with degrees not exceeding half of their previous complex variable counterparts. Nontrivial examples for 2D polynomials having both numerical and literal coefficients are also shown to illustrate the computational advantage of the proposed method.

LTE-Advanced system has been deployed with 2 and 4 transmission antennas (Tx) while the specification supports up to 8Tx. Due to deployment space, antenna dimension and complexity, the needs of deploying 8Tx system has not been motivated by operators. Recently, three dimensional (3D) beamforming with active antenna has attracted significant attention in the wireless industry. By incorporating 2D active array into LTE-A systems, the system offers freedom in controlling radiation on elevation and horizontal dimension. When the number of antennas increases in the form of 2D arrangement, spatial separation can be realized simultaneously in horizontal and elevation domain and vertical beam-steering can increase SINR of UEs in high floors. In this paper, we study the system operations and implementations for supporting 3D beamforming with 8Tx antennas. In our schemes, by reusing the conventional CSI feedback framework, the system can operate 2D active array without harming the backward compatibility. Evaluation results show that 3D beamforming provides capacity boosting over the conventional 2D beamforming systems while keeping same antenna structure.
