A Study of Attention-Induced Design Dimension Relating to Optimal Cognitive Performance Interface Development for Mentally Retarded Disorders (정신지체인의 최적 인지수행 인터페이스 구성을 위한 주의집중 관련 디자인 차원 연구)

  • This study was to identify HCl design factors for increasing information processing and attention for mentally retarded children. Several factors such as size, location, moving distance were varied for three experiments operated by the amount of information. The results showed that the larger size of target, the greater moving distance of target, and the less amount of information increased mentally retarded children's sensitivity. Also, when the target was displayed at upper left of computer screen, sensitivity of mentally retarded children was high, compared other locations of screen.

Design of FIR Filters with Finite Precision Coefficients Using LP(Linear Programming) (선형계획을 이용한 유도 정밀도 계수 FIR 필터의 설계)

  • In this paper, an optimal algorithm for the design of 1-D FIR filters with finite precision coefficients is proposed. The algorithm is based on the observation that the frequency constraints of a sub-problems(SP) in the branch and bound algorithm, which repeatedly use LP(linear programming), are closely related with those of neighboring SPs. By using the relationship between the SPs, the proposed algorithm reduces the number of constraints required for solving each SP with Lp, whereas the conventional algorithm employs all the constraints, which are required for solving the initial problem. Thus, the overall computational load for the design of FIR filters with finite precision coefficients is significantly alleviated, compared to the conventional branch and bound algorithm. Also, a new branching scheme for the design of FIR filters with sum-of-power-of-two(SOPOT) coefficients is proposed. It is shown that the computational load for the design fo SOPT coefficient filters can be further reduced with the new branching scheme.

  • The deep drawing and ironing (DDI) process involving the use of a high-capacity horizontal press is used for manufacturing acompressed natural gas (CNG) pressure vessel. However, some variables of the DDI process have been determined based on the experiences of workers, and the short die life needs to be improved for manufacturing the pressure vessel withhighquality and lowcost. In this study, process variables such as the draw ratio, distance between dies, radius of rounding of drawing die, and angle of ironing die are chosen to enhance the reliability and improve the die life based on previous studies and experiences. The draw ratio limits at which no tearing or wrinkling occurs are determined using FEA, and the distances between dies, radius of rounding of drawing die, and angle of ironing die are optimized by the DOE method. The results of the optimal process variables are compared with those of the existing DDI process for verifying their effectiveness.

  • This paper presents a structure of the searcher using a diversity in array antenna systems operating in the cdma2000 1x signal environments. The new technique exploits the fact that the In-phase and quadrature components of interferers can respectively be viewed as an independent gaussian noise at each antnna element in most practical cdma signal environments. The proposed PN acquisition scheme is a singles-dwell PN acquisition system consisting of two stages, that is, the searching stage and the verification stage. The searching stage independently correlates the receiver multiple signals with PN generator of each antenna element for obtaining the synchronous energy at the entire region. Then, the searching results of each antenna element are non-coherently combinind. The verification stage compares the searching energy with the optimal threshold, which is predesigned in the lock detector, and decides whether the acquisition is successful or fail. In this paper, we analyzed the effect of tile diversity order to determine the mean acquisition time. In general, it is known that the mean acquisition time significantly decrease as the number of antenna elements increases. But, as the diversity order goes up, the enhancement of the performance is saturated. Therefore, to decrease the mean acquisition time of the searcher, we must design the optimal array antenna systems by considering the operating SNR range of the receiver, the probability of detection $P_D$ and that of false alarm $P_{FA}$ . The Performance of the proposed PN acquisition scheme is analyzed in frequency selective Rayleigh fading channels. In this paper, the effect of the number of antenna elements on PN acquisition scheme is shown according to the probability of detection $P_D$ and that of false alarm $P_{FA}$.

Enhanced Index Assignment for Beamforming with Limited-rate Imperfect Feedback (피드백 에러가 있는 빔포밍 시스템에서 개선된 인덱스 배치기법)

  • The quantized beamforming systems always need the channel state information, which must be quantized into a finite set of vectors (named codebook), and feedback only sends the index representing the desired vector. Thereby it minimized the impact of feedback errors, caused by feedback overhead and delay. In this regard, index assignment (IA) methods, an exhaustive-search and group-based schemes, have been presented for minimizes the performance degradation without additional feedback bits. In this paper, we proposed enhanced group-based IA method, which used the optimal codebook design with chordal distance, having the adaptive properties in application of the existing IA methods. When the number of transmit antennas is 4 and LTE codebook is used, Monte-Carlo simulations verify that the proposed scheme has a power advantage of 0.5~1dB to obtain the same bit error rate than methods without IA, and it has 0.1~0.2 dB better performance compared with the existing IA methods over same environment.

Analysis of the axle load of an agricultural tractor during plow tillage and harrowing

  • Analysis of the load on the tractor during field operations is critical for the optimal design of the tractor. The purpose of this study was to do a load analysis of an agricultural tractor during plowing and harrowing. First, a load measurement system was developed and installed in a 71 kW agricultural tractor. Strain-gauges with a telemetry system were installed in the shaft located between the axles and the wheels, and used to measure the torque of the four driving axles. Second, field experiments were conducted for two types of field operations (plowing, harrowing), each at two gear levels (M2, M3). Third, load analysis was conducted according to field operation and gear level. At M2 gear selection for plowing, the maximum, minimum, and average (S. D.) torque values were 13,141 Nm; 4,381 Nm; and 6,971 Nm (${\pm}397.8Nm$, respectively). For harrowing, at M2 gear selection, torque values were, 14,504 Nm; 1,963 Nm; and 6,774 Nm (${\pm}459.4Nm$, respectively). At M3 gear selection for plowing, the maximum, minimum, and average (S. D.) torque values were,17,098 Nm; 6,275 Nm; and 8,509 Nm (${\pm}462.4Nm$, respectively). For harrowing at M3 gear selection, maximum, minimum, and average (S. D.) torque values were, 20,266 Nm; 2,745 Nm; and 9,968 Nm (${\pm}493.2$). The working speed of the tractor increased by approximately 143% when shifted from M2 (7.2 km/h) to M3 (10.3 km/h); while during plow tillage and harrowing, the load of the tractor increased approximately 1.2 times and 1.5 times, respectively.

A Study on Waveguide to Microstrip Antipodal Transition for 5G cellular systems (5세대 이동통신 시스템을 위한 도파관-마이크로스트립 앤티포달 변환에 관한 연구)

  • In this paper we characterized and designed the waveguide antipodal finline transition at 57-65GHz frequency band in V-band for 5G mobile communication systems. Especially, we proposed the design method of spline taper for finline tapers by means of increasing curvature from linear taper. We could perform optimization more effectively by excluding improper regions for optimal performance from optimization using the method. Return losses and insertion losses of antipodal finline transitions were mainly affected by the taper shape of the finline. The resonances in the structure of the finline transition were the strongest enemies who deteriorate the performance of the transition. And we alleviated the resonances using semicircle shaped patch. The designed antipodal finline transition showed good performance as it showed less than -24.2dB of return loss and -0.24dB of insertion loss in the band(57-65GHz) which we suppose to use.

Optimal Design and Process Parameters of Biological Nutrent Removal Processes using Activated Sludge Model No.2d (ASM No. 2d를 이용한 생물학적 질소, 인 제거 공정의 최적 설계 및 운전인자 고찰)

  • 생물학적 질소, 인 제거 공정(이하 BNR)의 운전에 있어서 최적 유입수의 C/N(COD/TKN)비, SRT 및 온도의 범위 및 정량적 수치 등은 유기물 뿐 만아니라 질소, 인의 처리 효율에 있어서 매우 중요하다. 특히, 외국과 다른 저농도 유기물 특성을 보이는 국내 하수에 대해서는 BNR 공정의 선택과 설계 및 운전인자의 선별이 무엇보다도 중요한 역할을 한다. 본 연구에서는 IAWQ에서 제시한 ASM No.2d를 기초로 하여 만들어진 전산모형인 Envirosim사의 Biowin 프로그램을 시뮬레이션 도구로 활용하여, 국내 하수에 비교적 적용하기 용이한 A2/O 공정과 MUCT 공정에 대한 유기물, 질소 및 인처리 효율을 비교하고 유입수의 C/N와 SRT 및 온도에 따른 질소, 인 처리 특성과 유출수의 거동 등을 파악하였다. 시뮬레이션 결과, 국내 하수에서는 A2/O 보다는 MUCT 공정이 질소, 인 처리효율이 더 크게 나타났다. 온도와 SRT가 일정한 상태에서 C/N비는 7이상에서 TKN과 TP제거효율이 양호하게 나타났고, 온도와 C/N비를 일정한 조건에서는 SRT가 7일을 넘어서면 효율이 급격히 낮아지는 현상을 관찰할 수 있었다. 온도조건 실험에서는 $20^{\circ}C$이하, 특히 국내 하수처리장에 BNR 적용시 설게조건인 $13^{\circ}C$에 근접해서는 TKN의 제거효율은 급격히 떨어지는 반면에 인 제거효율이 상승하는 것으로 나타났다.

  • Even networks were introduced as a class of fault-tolerant multiprocessor networks and analyzed so many useful properties and algorithms such as simple routing algorithms, maximal fault tolerance, node disjoint path. Introduced routing algorithms and node disjoint path algorithms are proven to be optimal. However, it has not been introduced to constructing scheme for edge-disjoint spanning trees in even networks. The design of edge-disjoint spanning trees is a useful scheme to analyze for measuring the efficiency of fault tolerant of interconnection network and effective broadcasting. Introduced routing algorithm or node disjoint path algorithm are for the purpose of routing or node disjoint path hence they are not applicable to constitute edge disjoint spanning tree. In this paper, we show a construction algorithm of edge-disjoint spanning trees in even network $E_d$.

The optimum design of MQW Buried-RWG LD (MQW Buried RWG LD 최적화 설계)

  • We proposed a B-RWG LD (Buried-ridge waveguide laser diode) having more merits than a conventional RWG-LD. It's ridge width is controlled easily, it has the advantage of being more planar than the RWG-LD and it is possible to control refractive index with growth layer thickness. Before fabricating the device, we designed the optimal device for single mode, high efficiency and high power operation. From theoretical analysis, we have to control the $d_2, d_3$ layer thicknesses for lateral effective index difference, $\Delta_{nL}$ to be higher than critical value, and simultaneously consider the ridge width for single mode and low threshold current operation. As a result, it is possible to make a single mode LD having the ridge width of $6~9{\mu}m$ if the lateral effective index difference was controlled properly. perly.
