Textile machinery affects various industry, such as sport leisure industry, metal and chemistry material, electric electron, mechanical energy, packing and printing industry. In case of design of textile machine, the very important fact is absorbing the minute vibration induced by spinning thread and insert which is the part of spindle plays a role of reduction of impact caused by oscillation of thread bobbin. Therefore, Optimal design was executed by design of experiments and kriging optimal design methods to prevent fracture of spindle insert under the fatigue condition and deduced the best value of design parameter to improve the stability of the products. The highest sensitivity is showed at the design parameter A and D. As the spiral number of insert is increase, tension force applied its edge is distributed at whole model and the stress concentration is reduced.
The use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) have been regarded as a promising technique in both military and civilian applications. Nevertheless, due to the lack of relevant and regulations and laws, the misuse of illegal drones poses a serious threat to social security. In this paper, aiming at deriving the three-dimension optimal surveillance trajectories for group monitoring drones, we develop a group trajectory planner based on the particle swarm optimization and updating mechanism. Together, to evaluate the trajectories generated by proposed trajectory planner, we propose a group-objectives fitness function in accordance with energy consumption, flight risk. The simulation results validate that the group trajectories generated by proposed trajectory planner can preferentially visit important areas while obtaining low energy consumption and minimum flying risk value in various practical situations.
This study examined the optimal ingredient mixing ratio for the preparation of steamed cake containing mugwort (Artemisia princeps var. orientalis) powder. After preliminary studies, the following ingredient ranges were determined; 110~129% sugar, 3~8% mugwort powder, 10~25% oil. Among the different mixture designs, the D-optimal design was chosen for analysis. The results of F-test, specific gravity, viscosity, volume and color values (L, a, b), hardness decided a linear model, while the sensory characteristics (color, taste, texture and overall acceptance) decided a quadratic model. The fitness analysis results showed that in all characteristic, the probabilities were significant within 0.05%; thus, the models were accepted as appropriate. The response surface and trace plot results showed that increasing amounts of mugwort powder decreased the brightness, and increased redness and yellowness. As the level of added oil increased, the softness of the cake increased. Cake samples received low sensory evaluation scores when sugar, mugwort powder, and oil were added above their optimal levels. The optimum formulations by the numerical and graphical methods, were similar, and with the numerical method presented as: sugar, mugwort powder, and oil at 120.7%, 5.1%, and 16.2%, respectively(flour weight basis). The above results demonstrate the feasibility of adding mugwort powder to sponge cake, and therefore, the commercialization of mugwort powder cake marketed as a functional food is deemed possible.

An active micro-mixer, which was composed of an oscillating micro-stirrer in the microchannel to provide rapid, effective mixing at high flow, rates was analyzed. The effects of molecular diffusion and disturbance by the stirrer were considered with regard to two types of mixer models: the simple straight microchannel and microchannel with an oscillating stirrer. Two types of mixer models were studied by analyzing mixing behaviors such as their interaction after the stirrer. The mixing was calculated by Lattice Boltzmann methods using the D2Q9 model. In this study, the time-averaged mixing index formula was used to estimate the mixing performance of time-dependent flow. The mixing indices of the two models compared. From the results, it was found that the mixer with an oscillating stirrer was much more enhanced and stabilized. Therefore, an optimum design for a dynamic micro-mixer with an oscillating stirrer was performed using Taguchi method in order to obtain a robust solution. The design parameters were established as the frequency, the length and the angle of the stirrer and the optimal values were determined to be 2, 0.8D and ${\pm}75^{\circ}$, respectively. It was found that the mixing index of the optimal design increased 80.72% compared with that of the original design.

Almost all injection molds have multi-cavity runner for mass production, which are designed with geometrically balanced runner system in order to minimize filling imbalance between cavity to cavity during processing. However, even though geometrically balanced runner is used, filling imbalances have sometimes been observed. These filling imbalances have historically been considered as result of uneven mold temperature and mold deflection, but it actually results from non-symmetrically shear, pressure, temperature distribution within melt material as it flows through the runner system. Filling imbalance could be decreased by modifying processing conditions that are related to shear, pressure, temperature such as injection rate, mold temperature, injection pressure, melt temperature. In this study, a series of experiment was conducted using Taguchi method to determine which processing condition influence as the primary cause of filling imbalance in geometrically balanced runner system. As a result of experiments, this paper could present an optimal processing condition to minimize variable that brings about filling imbalance geometrically balanced runner system
A new and efficient method for estimating the statistical moments of a system performance function has been developed. The method consists of two steps: (1) An approximate response surface is generated by a quadratic regression model, and (2) the statistical moments of the regression model are then calculated by experimental design techniques proposed by Seo and $Kwak^{(4)}$. In this approach, the size of experimental region affects the accuracy of the statistical moments. Therefore, the region size should be selected suitably. The D-optimal design and the central composite design are adopted over the selected experimental region for the regression model. Finally, the Pearson system is adopted to decide the distribution type of the system performance function and to analyze structural reliability.
A die cast impeller blade has been developed in the effort on cost reduction in marine equipment industry. The purpose of this work is to optimize the die casting process using Taguchi's design of experiment for minimizing the internal defect of the die cast impeller blade. The experiments were preformed using the numerical simulation based on the L18 orthogonal array. As a results, the internal defect size of the die cast impeller blade for optimal design was controlled less than 1mm.

To enhance the precision and productivity of ultra precision aspheric surface micro lens, the development of ultra-precision grinding system and process for the aspheric surface micro lens are described. In the work reported in this paper, an ultra-precision grinding system for manufacturing the aspheric surface micro lens was developed by considering the factors affecting the grinding surface roughness and profile accuracy. This paper deals with mirror grinding of an aspheric surface micro lens by resin bonded diamond wheel and spherical lens of BK7. The optimization of grinding conditions on ground surface roughness and profiles accuracy is investigated using the design of experiments.

Response Surface Method (RSM) constructs approximate response surfaces using sample data from experiments or simulations and finds optimum levels of process variables within the fitted response surfaces of the interest region. It will be necessary to get the most suitable response surface for the accuracy of the optimization. The application of RSM plan experimental designs. The RSM is used in the sequential optimization process. The first goal of this study is to improve the plan of central composite designs of experiments with various locations of axial points. The second is to increase the optimal efficiency applying a modified method to update interest regions.
In this study, a design of experiment, Taguchi method, was applied to optimize gating system design of escalator step die casting parts. Six shape factors which affect filling sequence of melt are adopted and divided into two levels respectively. Initial feeding differences of melt which were calculated by using S/N(signal-to-noise) ratio in each condition were demonstrated with the simulation of Flow-3D software program. Variations of S/N ratio according to shape factors were obtained and the optimal condition of gating system could also be obtained. It could be found that width of gate, contact angle of gate, thickness of runner are more effective factors on the filling sequence of melt than the others in this case of escalator step die casting parts. It showed that the economical gating system and sound filling sequence of melt were obtained by using Taguchi method.
