Light-Field 영상획득 및 재현 기술동향 (Trend of Light-Field Image Acquisition and Representation Technology)

  • Light-field(LF) 기술은 자연스러운 완전 입체영상을 재현하면서도 홀로그램에 앞서 실현 가능한 기술로 알려져 있으며, 이에 대한 기술개발이 국내외에서 활발히 진행되고 있다. LF 기술은 카메라로 빛의 세기와 방향 정보를 획득 후 디스플레이로 그대로 재현함으로써 시각적으로 왜곡이 없는 완전 입체의 실감영상을 시청하게 하는 것이다. 조밀한 시점영상, 깊이영상의 제공으로 3D 단말 분야뿐만 아니라, 초점조절 기능을 통해 다양한 2D 응용 기술로 활용할 수 있다. LF 기술은 대형 디스플레이에서 완전 입체영상 제공을 목적으로 개발이 시작되었지만, 최근에는 모바일 단말, HMD와 같은 개인용 단말에 LF 기술을 적용하기 위한 기술개발이 시도되고 있다. 본고에서는 LF 카메라 및 단말 기술의 원리와 개발동향에 대해 살펴보고자 한다.

Curvature Estimation을 이용한 3차원 사람얼굴 세그멘테이션 (3D Human Face Segmentation using Curvature Estimation)

  • 본 논문에서는 3차원 사람얼굴의 굴곡표면에 대하여 특징 값들을 추출하여 회전벡터를 이용하여 회전한 후 그들을 분석, 표현하는 방법을 제안한다. 또한 실험을 통하여 정확하게 추출된 굴곡표면의 특징 값들은 3차원 사람얼굴을 세그멘테이션 하는데 적용되었다 사람얼굴의 표면은 메쉬(mesh)모델을 사용하여 파라메타를 계산, 추출하였으며, 추출된 특징 값들은 얼굴표면을 Gaussian과 Mean 곡면 분류표(classification)를 사용하여 임계 값을 사용하지 않고 3D 얼굴표면을 세그멘테이션 하였다.

  • An implicit discontinuous Galerkin method for the two-dimensional Euler equations was developed on unstructured triangular meshes. The method can achieve high-order spatial accuracy by using hierachical basis functions based on Legendre polynomials. Numerical tests were conducted to estimate the convergence order of numerical solutions to the Ringleb flow and the supersonic vortex flow for which analytic solutions are available. Also, the flows around a 2-D circular cylinder and an NACA0012 airfoil were numerically simulated. The numerical results showed that the implicit discontinuous Galerkin methods couples with a high-order representation of curved solid boundaries can be an efficient method to obtain very accurate numerical solutions on unstructured meshes.

Servo Design for High-TPI Hard Disk Drives Using a Delay-Accommodating State Estimator

  • This paper presents a servo design method for high track-density hard disk drives, in which the plant time delay, mainly due to the processor computation time, is taken into account. The key idea behind the proposed design method is to incorporate the delay model into the output equation of the state-space representation for the plant model; thereby, the delay is accounted for by a standard state observer in a natural manner, with simplified state equations as compared to those for conventional methods. The results from practical application confirm that the proposed method is quite effective in realizing a high-bandwidth servo system in hard disk drives.

  • A captive trajectory simulation (CTS) system is used to investigate the separation behavior of the store model by moving the model to an arbitrary pose and position based on aerodynamic data. A CTS system operated inside a wind tunnel is designed to match the structure of the wind tunnel facility. As a result, each CTS system has different kinematic structure, and inverse kinematic analysis of the system is necessary. In this study, kinematic/inverse kinematic analysis for the CTS system with functional redundancy is performed. Inverse kinematic analysis with combined numerical and analytical approach is especially proposed. The suggested approach utilizes the redundancy to improve the safety of the system, and has advantages in real time analysis.

초실감 메타버스 시각화 기술 동향과 전망 (Trends and Prospects in Super-realistic Metaverse Visualization Technologies)

  • Wearable metaverse devices have sparked enthusiasm as innovative virtual computing user interfaces by addressing a major source of user discomfort, namely, motion-to-photon latency. This kind of latency occurs between the user motion and screen update. To enhance the realism and immersion of experiences using metaverse devices, the vergence-accommodation conflict in stereoscopic image representation must be resolved. Ongoing research aims to address current challenges by adopting vari-focal, multifocal, and light field display technologies for stereoscopic imaging. We explore current trends in research with emphasis on multifocal stereoscopic imaging. Successful metaverse visualization services require the integration of stereoscopic image rendering modules and content encoding/decoding technologies tailored to these services. Additionally, real-time video processing is essential for these modules to correctly and timely process such content and implement metaverse visualization services.

  • This paper presents a new method for representing complex power system phenomena using 3-D computer graphics animation. The proposed method was tested on both the generator dynamics phenomena and subsynchronous resonance phenomena. It is anticipated that the proposed method would be helpful for the operator training as well as power system education.

버핑 로봇의 오프라인 경로 프로그래밍용 5축 마이크로스크라이브 개발 및 응용 (Development of 5-Axis Microscribe System for Off-Line Buffing Robot Path Programming and Its Application)

  • 신발 버핑공정에서 로봇 메카니즘과 같은 5축 마이크로스크라이브에 의하여 신발창 형상을 따라서 버핑 로봇 경로를 오프라인으로 프로그래밍하는 방법을 제안한다. 개발한 마이크로스크라이브 시스템은 턴테이블이 부착된 5축 로봇링크, 신호처리장치, PC 및 응용 소프트웨어 프로그램으로 구성되어 있다. 많은 조인트를 가진 마이크로스크 라이브를 신발창 표면을 따라 이동시킴으로써 로봇 경로가 만들어진다. 개발시스템은 마이크로스크라이브 암의 회전에 해당되는 엔코더 펄스 값을 환산하며, 이 각도 값을 신호처리장치를 통하여 PC로 전송한다. Denavit-Hartenberg's(D-H) 직접 키네메틱스가 마이크로스크라이브 조인트 각도 값으로서 글로벌 좌표값을 만드는데 사용된다. 마이크로스크라이브의 키네메틱스 문제는 D-H 표현에 의하여 효과적이고 시스템적으로 해결된다. 개발시스템은 D-H식에 의하여 계산된 좌표 값으로서 신발 갑피 위에 버핑 게이지 라인을 그릴 수 있으며, 또한 신발 갑피 위에 각 점들과 그 점에 수직인 벡터와 결합된 2개의 외곽 라인으로서 로봇 경로를 얻는다. 개발시스템을 FMS의 버핑 로봇에 적용함으로써 실제적인 버핑 로봇의 경로를 프로그래밍하는데 효과적으로 사용될 수 있다.

REAL-TIME 3D MODELING FOR ACCELERATED AND SAFER CONSTRUCTION USING EMERGING TECHNOLOGY

  • The research presented in this paper enables real-time 3D modeling to help make construction processes ultimately faster, more predictable and safer. Initial research efforts used an emerging sensor technology and proved its usefulness in the acquisition of range information for the detection and efficient representation of static and moving objects. Based on the time-of-flight principle, the sensor acquires range and intensity information of each image pixel within the entire sensor's field-of-view in real-time with frequencies of up to 30 Hz. However, real-time working range data processing algorithms need to be developed to rapidly process range information into meaningful 3D computer models. This research ultimately focuses on the application of safer heavy equipment operation. The paper compares (a) a previous research effort in convex hull modeling using sparse range point clouds from a single laser beam range finder, to (b) high-frame rate update Flash LADAR (Laser Detection and Ranging) scanning for complete scene modeling. The presented research will demonstrate if the FlashLADAR technology can play an important role in real-time modeling of infrastructure assets in the near future.

GENERALIZED WEYL'S THEOREM FOR ALGEBRAICALLY $k$-QUASI-PARANORMAL OPERATORS

  • An operator $T\;{\varepsilon}\;B(\mathcal{H})$ is said to be $k$-quasi-paranormal operator if $||T^{k+1}x||^2\;{\leq}\;||T^{k+2}x||\;||T^kx||$ for every $x\;{\epsilon}\;\mathcal{H}$, $k$ is a natural number. This class of operators contains the class of paranormal operators and the class of quasi - class A operators. In this paper, using the operator matrix representation of $k$-quasi-paranormal operators which is related to the paranormal operators, we show that every algebraically $k$-quasi-paranormal operator has Bishop's property ($\beta$), which is an extension of the result proved for paranormal operators in [32]. Also we prove that (i) generalized Weyl's theorem holds for $f(T)$ for every $f\;{\epsilon}\;H({\sigma}(T))$; (ii) generalized a - Browder's theorem holds for $f(S)$ for every $S\;{\prec}\;T$ and $f\;{\epsilon}\;H({\sigma}(S))$; (iii) the spectral mapping theorem holds for the B - Weyl spectrum of T.
