  • A friction force measurement system using the floating liner method was developed to study the frictional behavior of piston rings. The measurement system was carefully designed to control the effect of the piston secondary motion and the temperature of cylinder wall and oil. The friction force between the barrel shaped piston ring and the cylinder liner, was measured under the condition of flooded oil supply. The measured friction forces were classified into five frictional modes with regard to the combination of predominant lubrication regimes(boundary, mixed and hydrodynamic lubrication) and stroke regions(midstroke and dead centers). The modes could be identified on the Stribeck diagram of the friction coefficients and the dimensionless number of ㎼/p, where the friction coefficients are evaluated at near the midstroke and dead centers.

  • A experimental try was conducted for the purpose of establishment of the cast iron modification by the metal spray method. The friction and wear resistance properties of the metal sprayed cast iron surface were evaluated. The application experiment for the cast iron modification by the metal spray method was conducted in order to develope the restoring method of the scrapped cast iron cylinder liner of the marine engine.

  • Cylinder frame manufactured by casting is assembled with the components such as cylinder head, cylinder liner and main bearing cap, etc. The mechanical contact between all of the neighboring components due to bolt tightening was taken into consideration. The loads used in structural analysis were the bolt tightening forces induced by hydraulic jack and the dynamic forces calculated from kinematic analysis. The difference of forces between the neighboring cylinders was taken into account. The maximum stress, stress amplitude and mean stress calculated from the results of structural analyses were used to evaluate the static and fatigue strength. Gray cast iron which is material of cylinder frame has the material characteristics of very small elongation and different strength in tension and compression. Based on such an material characteristics, the strength evaluation of cylinder frame was carried out with in-house program developed internally.

  • 본 논문에서는 대형 선박용 디젤 엔진의 실린더 라이너의 마모량을 측정하는 새로운 시스템의 개발에 관하여 소개한다. 제안된 시스템은 LVDT, 온도센서, 실린더 내부의 밝기조절용 LED 및 카메라가 각각 1개씩 부착된 측정부, 계측명령전달 및 측정데이터 모니터링을 담당하는 컴퓨터기반 모니터링부, 측정부의 제어 및 측정데이터의 모니터링부로의 전송을 담당하는 주 제어부로 구성된다. 개발된 시스템의 정도는 1/100 mm 의 측정정도를 갖는 내경게이지의 것과 비교되어진다.

  • HCCI engines fueled DME and natural gas have been studied on single-cylinder engine due to availability of reducing on $NO_X$ and PM simultaneously without deteriorating into high thermal efficiency, and thus it is clarified that higher maximum engine load is achieved as DME equivalence is smaller. In this study, combustion tests were accomplished on multi-cylinder engine for practical use of it. When minimum DME equivalence achieved maximum engine load on single-cylinder engine was applied to 4-cylinders engine, there was in unstable running condition that engine revolution fluctuated greatly and cyclically. It is the reason what misfire occurred intermittently with one the same as minimum DME equivalence on single-cylinder due to increase in energy for ignition at No. 1 cylinder with lower cylinder liner temperature. Maximum engine load was achieved by adopting EGR, though it decreased because of knocking at smaller engine load than single-cylinder due to increase in minimum DME equivalence.

35MPa 수소가스 자동차용 복합소재 압력용기의 응력특성에 관한 강도안전성 연구 (Strength Safety Study on the Stress Characteristics of a Composite Pressure Cylinder for 35MPa Hydrogen Gas Vehicle)

  • 본 논문에서는 알루미늄 라이너와 탄소섬유/에폭시 및 유리섬유/에폭시로 구성된 복합소재 압력용기에 대한 응력 안전성 연구결과를 제시하고 있다. 9.2L의 저장용량을 갖는 수소가스 자동차용 복합소재 압력용기에는 35MPa의 충전압력으로 수소가스를 압축한 경우이다. FEM 해석결과는 미국의 수소가스 압력용기에 대한 DOT-CFFC와 한국의 KS B ISO 인증기준에 기반하여 평가하였다. FEM 해석결과에서 알루미늄 라이너에 걸리는 응력 247MPa는 알루미늄 항복강도(272MPa)의 95%에 해당하는 안전기준에 비해 충분히 낮다는 결과이다. 그리고 알루미늄의 표면에 감은 탄소섬유 복합소재는 후프방향과 헤리컬방향에서 발생한 최대탄소섬유응력이 29.43%와 28.87% 수준으로 각각 나타났기 때문에 최소파열압력에서의 최대섬유응력 대비 30% 이하를 유지해야 한다는 안전기준에 부합하므로 안전하다. 또한, 탄소섬유 복합소재에 대한 응력비는 후프방향과 헤리컬방향에 대해 3.4와 3.46으로 각각 예측되었기 때문에 최소안전기준인 2.4보다 높아 안전한 것으로 나타났다.

직접분사식 가솔린 엔진에서 분사시기와 흡입유동이 실린더 내 연료의 거동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Injection Timing and Intake Flow on In-Cylinder Fuel Behavior in a GDI Engine)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the in-cylinder flows and different injection timings on fuel behavior in the cylinder of a GDI engine. Three different flows types induced by using masked port, unmasked port, and port deactivation were tumble, swirl&tumble, and high swirl respectively. LIEF technique was applied to investigate the mixture formation and fuel distribution at ignition time in the transparent engine with optical access through the piston top and upper part of cylinder liner. Injection timings of 180,90, and 60 degrees before TDC were examined. It was found that tumble flow was more effective on the homogeneous mixture formation than other flow and swirl flow transported more fuel vapor to the exhaust side at early injection mode, and swirl and swirl & tumble flow made fuel vapor concentrate around the cylinder center at late injection mode.

경차용 가솔린 기관 실린더 블럭의 열응력 분포 특성에 대한 연구 (Study on the Thermal Stress Distribution Characteristivs of the Cylinder Block of a Light Gasoline Engine)

  • In this study the thermal stress distribution and deformantion characteristics resulting from the nonuniform temperature fields of the cylinder block of a light 3-cylinder 4-stroke gasoline engine were analyzed using the 3-dimensional finite element method. The temperature distributions req-uisite for the thermoelastic behavior alalysis were obtained from the steady-state heat conduction analysis performed on the basis of experimental data. in order to examine the effect of a ceramic material the cylinder liner was replaced by the silicon nitride($Si_{3}N_{4}$) and its thermal behaviors were compared with those of the original block.

비니어 세라믹과 지르코니아 세라믹의 Push-Shear 결합강도 (Push-Shear Bond Strength of Veneering Ceramics and Zirconia Ceramic)

  • 본 연구에서는 원통형 지르코니아 코어에 다섯 종류의 지르코니아 비니어 세라믹을 축성하여 push-전단결합강도를 측정하고, 비니어 세라믹의 이축굽힘강도와 지르코니아 글라스 라이너 처리에 따른 전단결합강도 차이를 알아보고자 하였다. 지르코니아 비니어 세라믹은 piston-on-three-ball test로 이축굽힘강도를 측정하였고, 지르코니아 실린더 코어와 비니어 세라믹은 push-shear test로 결합강도를 측정하였으며, 결과값은 이원분산분석을 사용하여 분석하였다. 이축굽힘강도는 Cercon ceram kiss (CE)군에서 가장 높게 측정되었고 전단결합강도는 글라스 처리군과 Triceram(TR)군이 높게 측정 되었으며 Creation ZI(CR)군에서 가장 낮은 값이 측정 되었다. 실험군에서 지르코니아 라이너 처리군이 라이너 처리하지 않는 군보다 전단결합강도가 높게 나타났으며 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다(P<0.05). 따라서 지르코니아 라이너 처리는 지르코니아와 비니어 세라믹의 결합강도를 향상시킬 수 있는 것으로 사료된다.
