재료물성치 측정 및 피로수명평가 시스템의 개발 (Development of Material Properties Measurement and Fatigue Life Evaluation System)

  • This paper describes the development strategy and contents of a fatigue life evaluation system, FLEVA. The system is composed of 4 parts; material properties, load histories, cycle counting and life prediction. The cycle counting is based on the rain-flow counting method and peak counting method, and the life prediction is performed based on the linear damage rule. Material properties(static, fatigue) are also provided as a database obtained by a computer aided test system. Case study is performed to verify the developed program.

  • 제한된 배터리를 갖는 노드로 구성되는 무선 센서 네트워크에서는 에너지 효율적인 MAC 프로토콜의 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며 낮은 듀티 사이클 동작이 에너지 소모를 줄이는 효과적인 방법으로 널리 사용되고 있다. 낮은 듀티 사이클을 사용하는 MAC 프로토콜에서 불필요한 에너지 소모 및 지연을 줄이고 전송률을 향상시키기 위해 Short Preamble 기법이 제안되었지만 송신 노드간의 경쟁을 충분히 고려하지 않아 불공정한 경쟁의 문제가 발생할 수 있다. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 본 논문에서는 Short Preamble에 우선순위 정보를 추가하여 수신 노드에서 적절히 송신 노드를 선택할 수 있는 Preamble Counting기법을 제안하였다. Preamble Counting을 사용함으로써 송신 노드간의 에너지 소모 및 패킷 전송률의 균형을 이룰 수 있음을 실험을 통해 확인하였다.

표면미소균열의 프랙탈 특성을 이용한 피로강도설계에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Design of Fatigue Strength using Fractal Character of Surface Micro-crack)

  • The shape of surface micro-crack is very irregular due to nonhomogeneous microstructure but is very important in respect to qualitative estimation of fatigue life. Fractal geomety can quantify the shape of surface mciro-crack. Fractal dimension is measured for surface micro-cracks with coast line and box counting method and estimates cycle ration in Al 2024-T3. The average fractal dimension $D_{favg}$ of surface micro-cracks has 3-parameter weibull distribution and location parameter is nearly constant but shape parameter decreases as cycle ration increases. The fractal dimension by coast line method is measured for individual surface micro-crack but the fractal dimension by box countin method is measured for all the surface micro-cracks under sampling area. Therefore, This paper shows fractal dimension $D_{fb}$ can predict cycle ratio $N/N_f$ more convenient than fractal dimension $D_{favg}$.

Fatigue life prediction of horizontally curved thin walled box girder steel bridges

  • The fatigue damage accumulation rates of horizontally curved thin walled box-girder bridge have been estimated from vehicle-induced dynamic stress history using rain flow cycle counting method in the time domain approach. The curved box-girder bridge has been numerically modeled using computationally efficient thin walled box-beam finite elements, which take into account the important structural actions like torsional warping, distortion and distortional warping in addition to the conventional displacement and rotational degrees of freedom. Vehicle model includes heave-pitch-roll degrees of freedom with longitudinal and transverse input to the wheels. The bridge deck unevenness, which is taken as inputs to the vehicle wheels, has been assumed to be a realization of homogeneous random process specified by a power spectral density (PSD) function. The linear damage accumulation theory has been applied to calculate fatigue life. The fatigue life estimated by cycle counting method in time domain has been compared with those found by estimating the PSD of response in frequency domain. The frequency domain method uses an analytical expression involving spectral moment characteristics of stress process. The effects of some of the important parameters on fatigue life of the curved box bridge have been studied.

  • 항공기는 다양한 임무를 수행함으로써 장기간 운영 시 비행시간 누적으로 인해 피로균열을 발생시킬 수 있다. 주익 구조물에 균열이 발생하면 수명단축 등 여러 문제점들이 발생할 수 있다. 이의 해결을 위해 피로임계위치(Fatigue critical location, FCL)에서의 균열진전 해석이 필요하다. 균열진전 해석을 위해서는 장시간의 응력 스펙트럼이 필요한데 실제 항공기에서 필요한 만큼의 데이터를 얻는 것은 막대한 시간과 비이 소요된다. 본 논문에서는 SwRI(South West Research Institute)보고서에 제시되어있는 임무별 단시간 하중배수 자료를 바탕으로 Peak-Valley Cycle Counting 을 진행하여 장시간의 응력 스펙트럼을 산출하는 알고리즘을 개발하였다.

  • 심해나 해상조건이 나쁜 지점에서 운영될 해양구조물의 설계시에는 파랑하중에 대한 구조물의 피로수명예측이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 랜덤파랑하중에 의해 해양구조물에 발생되는 응력의 bandwidth가 구조물의 피로수명예측 결과에 주는 영향에 대하여 연구하였다. 구조물의 동적거동해석은 비선형 점성저항력의 선형화를 통한 주파수영역해법을 사용하여 수행되었으며, 랜덤응력스펙트럼을 구하고 이를 바탕으로 피로해석을 수행하였다. 피로손상의 예측을 위한 랜덤응력 cycle의 산정은 narrow band cycle 산정법과 함께 wide band process 에 대하여 더 적정한 rainflow cycle 산정법을 사용하였다. 수심이 다른 지점에 위치한 2개의 구조물을 택하여 예제해석을 수행하였으며, 두 응력 cycle 산정법에 의해 얻은 피로해석 결과들을 비교하고 응력의 bandwidth의 영향을 분석하였다.

  • In this paper, the effects of the system parameters on the high cycle fatigue life based on structural dynamic analysis of a turbine blade are investigated. Conventional studies have forcused on the fatigue life of turbine blades with specific system parameters. However, each parameter has statistical deviation because of inhomogeneity of material property, tolerance, and operating conditions. Therefore a methodology that estimates the effects of system parameter on the fatigue lift deviation is demonstrated.

  • According to the delivery condition, the breakage of a product occurs when it is delivered to the customers. Therefore product's makers evaluate the durability under the delivery process by accelerated life testing. In order to conduct this accelerated life testing accurately, it is very important to identify the acceleration-factor exactly between on-road and accelerated life test condition. In this paper, the acceleration-factor is identified by applying linear damage summation law, rain-flow cycle counting and Dirlik theory under the conditions of the random vibration. And approximated FEM model of the connecting-pipe to the compressor is developed for fatigue analysis. This model is finally verified by comparing the experiment results to the numerical analysis results.

Fatigue Design of Mooring Lines of Floating Type Combined Renewable Energy Platforms

  • This paper presents the concept design procedure of a floating-type combined renewable energy platform based on hydrodynamic analyses and is focused on the fatigue design of taut-type mooring lines of the platform. Two types of combined renewable energy platforms are considered: a combination of wind turbine, wave turbine and photovoltaic energy plant and a combination of wind turbine, current turbine and photovoltaic energy plant. The basic configurations are conceptually determined from the understanding of floating offshore plants, while the main dimensions have been determined based on a hydrostatic calculation. Fully coupled hydrodynamic analyses have been carried out to identify the motion characteristics of the floating body and the tension histories of the mooring lines. The tension history is used for the fatigue life prediction based on the rain-flow cycle counting method. For the fatigue life prediction, tension life curves from API and the Palmgren-Miner rule are employed.

바이모달 스펙트럼 특성을 가지는 정상확률과정에 대한 다점계류라인의 피로손상도 조합기법 연구 (Fatigue Damage Combination for Spread Mooring System under Stationary Random Process with Bimodal Spectrum Characteristics)

  • The spread mooring system for FPSO is developed to explore deep sea area, in which swell is dominant. It is known that the tension response of mooring lines in this sea area shows bimodal spectrum. Assuming normal distribution of tension profile and Rayleigh distribution of tension amplitude, the power spectral density function (PSD) of the mooring tension under the bimodal stationary random process is applied for the calculation of spectrum fatigue. Three popular methods, which are simple summation method, combined spectrum method and Jioa-Moan method, are used to combine fatigue damages from bimodal spectrum characteristics. Each damage value is compared with damage using Rainflow Cycle Counting (RCC) method which is believed to be close to exact solution. Vanmarcke' parameter and RMS(Root Mean Square) ratio are employed to assess relative damage variations between from RCC method and from three combination methods. Finally the most reliable fatigue damage combining method for spread mooring system is suggested.
