  • This study was conducted to ascertain the mediating effects of aggression in high school students' relationship with smartphone overuse and cyberbullying. Data were collected from 328 high school students in K city using self-report questionnaire. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 22.0 and AMOS 22.0. The results show that cyberbullying has a positive correlation with smatrphone overuse(r=.321, p<.001) and aggression(r=.397, p<.001). Smartphone overuse had a direct effect on aggression(${\beta}=.195$, p=.014) and aggression had a direct effect on cyberbullying(${\beta}=.260$, p=.007). In addition, the mediation effects of aggression on the relationship between smartphone overuse and cyberbullying were confirmed(${\beta}=.051$, p=.007). In order to reduce cyberbullying in high school students, it will be necessary to develop cyber ethical awareness education programs to reduce aggression as well as regulations on excessive use of smartphones.

  • Under the situation that the seismic vulnerability are a worsening problem in many world's megacities, the disaster preparedness including earthquake hazards is a matter of primary concern in the capital city of Korea, Seoul. Especially, because it is hard to move or dismantle the architectural heritages, the mitigation of earthquake damages is potentially more difficult than other structures. Moreover, in order to decide the proper preparedness plan against future earthquakes, it is very important to understand how soils pass the seismic waves to architectural heritages. In this paper, therefore, the ground condition and depth of bedrock was investigated by the MASW-method at heritages located in Seoul. Then one-dimensional seismic response analysis was conducted based on the distribution of shear wave velocity. As the major result of analyses, peak acceleration, site amplification factor and natural period are proposed in each site for recurrence period.

  • In the past, strong social bands, which had spontaneous communities, existed in Korean traditional society. However, while it's developing through industrialization; monolithic apartment houses were introduced which causes less interaction between neighbors. With the growing attention to the higher living quality, various schemes to revitalize the community spirits have been groped, including to improve in hardhearted neighborhood relationships and to cope with the dreariness in the city. With the development of the internet and the spread of 'digital home', the communities in cyber space have been especially revitalized since the information-oriented society. In a move to strengthen the communities in apartment complexes, this study tries to find the revitalization scheme for virtual communities in apartment complexes by analyzing the contents of its web sites and understanding the world of virtual community. These are compared and analyzed. The related virtual communities ("cafe" or "blogs") are also analyzed. The results are as follows. 1) There are some differences among the contents provided by apartment virtual community developing companies, still, it could be categorized into four types; "apartment complex introduction and management information" "community revitalization" "living guide" "individual services" 2) The contents provided by self-organized communities of residents neither require additional charge nor special membership for information while the formation is not systematized. 3) In the comparison of apartment virtual community developing companies with residents self-organized communities, "apartment complex introduction and management information" on freeboard, notice, request and Q&A, and "community revitalization" on communication board are both provided throughout the web sites. 4) The contents provided by apartment virtual community developing companies makes the information available in a wide range with managers, on the other hand, self-organized communities emphasize on showing attachment and concern of residents and requiring communications between neighborhoods.

  • Impact of online social network to cyber community has increased much attention recently. The biggest challenge in fostering a social network is to the extent whether it helps to build human capital network or social community. We propose what critical factors influence the formation of online capital network. The study uses three independent factors as motivation, self disclosure, and interactivity and two dependent factors as knowledge sharing and strengthening relationships to create virtual capital connection. Data collected from 256 university students to test the proposed model. The results of the study shows that all hypothesis are supported except one with strengthening relationship. Implications and limitations of this research are discussed.

The citizen-initiative has become an important concept in the direction of community welfare efforts. However, this concept has not been defined clearly in social welfare. In this context, the purpose of this study is to find how the practitioners of the social welfare practice field recognize the concept of citizen-initiative. In this study, concept mapping method was used to generate 59 statements about the citizeninitiative in 10 social workers in Seoul. Multidimensional scaling analysis and hierarchical cluster analysis are used to do mapping and grouping the 59 statements. The results are as follows. A total of 6 categories were derived. The six categories are named "Inducement of Participation", "Practice", "Procedure", "Awareness and Interest extension", "Expression of Opinion", "Attitude and Emotion". "Practice" category was revealed as a core category in the concept of citizen-initiative. This study is meaningful as a first step to discuss "what is the citizen-initiative?" and to make consensus in social welfare academic area and practice field.

Housing welfare is defined as living at adequate, affordable housing with stability and measured as substandard housing, unaffordable housing, unstable housing. This study was based on 2016 Housing Fact Finding Survey, sampled the households which their incomes are below 120% average income of city workers. This study controlled the socio-economic characters of householders to identify the difference of housing welfare performance between public and market rental housing. The study showed the ratios of public rental housing of substandard housing and unaffordable housing are not low. But It is revealed that the achievements of housing welfare of the public rental housing are better than market rental housing and the differences between them are more consistent after controlling the socio-economic characters of householders. The problems of substandard housing, unaffordable housing and unstable housing in market rental housing are more than public rental housing. This study provides the basis that the regulation for market tenant protection should be reinforced and the policy of public housing should be expanded and improved for housing welfare.

  • This study attempted to investigate cognitive load, vividness, and cybersickness in nursing students, in the last year of nursing college, who used a 360-degree video content for studying intravenous fluid infusion, one of the core fundamental nursing skills. The aim was to determine the correlation between the variables, and to decide whether the 360-degree video content can be used as an effective supplementary educational material in the regular curricula. This study, a descriptive research, was conducted from October 31, 2019 to November 14, 2019. The participants in this study were 64 students in the 4th year of nursing college at a university located in B City, South Korea. They were instructed to watch a 360-degree video content for intravenous infusion using a Samsung Head Mounted Display (HMD) while ensuring the safety of the students. The results showed that the scores, out of 7 points, for material design, self-evaluation, and physical effort for cognitive load in nursing students were 5.93±0.71, 5.92±0.71, and 5.64±0.74 points, respectively. In addition, the scores, out of 7 points, for mental effort and task difficulty were 2.55±1.08 and 1.94±0.75 points, respectively, and the scores for vividness and cybersickness in the participants were 5.82±0.84, and 2.57±0.98 points, respectively. Physical effort, self-evaluation, and material design for cognitive load in the participants were positively correlated with vividness (r=.379, r=.458, r=.507). In addition, mental effort for cognitive load was positively correlated with cybersickness (r=.684), whereas self-evaluation and material design were negatively correlated with cybersickness (r=-.388, r=-.343). Based on the results of this study, we believe that the 360-degree video content for intravenous fluid infusion can be used as an educational medium in regular and non-regular curricula. In addition, future studies are needed to specifically develop and verify teaching and learning methods on how to apply 360-degree video contents..
