A study on the effect of design education on the operating of the long distance education -Focused on the Multimedia department of Seoul Digital University- (원격교육의 강의 운영에 따른 디자인 학습효과에 관한 연구 -서울디지털대학교 멀티미디어학부를 중심으로-)

  • There are 17 cyber universities granted by the Ministry of Education & Human Resources Department. Most of them have Design department and their educational purpose is practical education. However, their educational process is limited of teaching how to operate computer or production tools and has not offered practical training to students for pre-designer. But it does not mean that students in cyber university are lacking in capability of design. About hundreds of students will graduate from cyber university with a certificate of the completion of a design course on February in 2005. They look for achievement contrary to negatively social view. Because according to the record of 2004 Multi-media major in Seoul Digital University, 73% of them has worked in design field. The purpose of Cyber university is not to instruct a designer but do a lifelong education. I studied how to educate students in cyber university. In other words, I researched an educational methodology in cyber university for practical skill in design, an educational effect in various design contents, an educational process for current designers and beginners, a required education in reality, an limitation of online and an unique contents for design education. And then, I discussed how students in cyber university accept the value of design in online contents and improve their design abilities.

  • Humanity is experiencing a very fast-paced technological evolution. As technological systems evolve exponentially, societies are becoming more global and are starting to have impacts beyond their geographic demarcations. This implies that, the actions of a person who is across the ocean from where we live could have significant impacts on our everyday lives. This article explores the complexity of globalization, identifies a number of global issues, and looks at the University and the Science and Technology Parks as potential sources of human capital to tackle current and forthcoming global challenges, ranging from new energy sources to potable water distributions. The article focuses on current efforts that are taking place across universities and science and technology parks around the world. We propose a new methodology whereby interdisciplinary work can inform the development of multidisciplinary approaches to solve some of the most complex global issues such as cyber security and educating the next generations of global leaders, providing them them with the necessary skills to be successful in a globally distributed workforce.

  • Recently, the awareness of the domestic information security is very higher due to cyber war and hacking incidents. Yet, the information security professional is very scarce situation. In these circumstances are increasing of a opening the information security related departments of the domestic universities. And the Educational institutions are developed various curriculums. However, the domestic information security curriculum is different depending on the university or department. And there tends to be concentrated on the practical education rather than theoretical education. Therefore, in this paper will be analyzed to the Information security curriculum situation of the domestic Information Security related universities. This is expected to be utilized in a systematic curriculum development of the domestic information security education in a future.

The Development of the Multimedia Contents for the Fashion Information Analysis (패션 정보 분석 교과목의 원격교육을 위한 이러닝 콘텐츠 개발)

  • This study attempts to develop e-learning contents for the "fashion information analysis," which should be performed in combination of theory and practice in fashion education, in a recent Web-based education environment. The e-learning contents are developed by using the three steps of analysis, design and development. In order to analyze the requirements of curricula, the status and content of fashion information related curricular provided by general universities and cyber universities are analyzed, and then on the basis of this analysis the education objectives and detailed contents of e-learning contents are determined. Design and development of e-learning contents consist of the types, education menus and education form. The types of e-learning contents are developed into an education form combined with tutorial and practice/activity types. The education menus are comprised of syllabic, the profiles of professors and students, announcements, questions and answers regarding respect subjects, materials, and notes. Meanwhile, the education form consists of the following sections: "Before the Learning", "Learning", "Review Questions", "Final Review", "References", and "Practice", "Before the Learning" consists of two parts of a theory lecture that is composed of video clips and Power-Point presentations, and practice that consists of an audio(or video) lecture and illustration or Photoshop software execution window.

  • As the spread of COVID-19, the demand for interactive online class is increasing. Universities are introducing various types of online classes, but many problems arise in the field. Learners complain about the quality of the lecture, and professors have difficulty in preparing and conducting online classes. This study analyzed teaching & learning situation in interactive online class and drew teacher's pain point through case studies. Also, we suggested a method to solve the problem divided into a systemic approach and an administrative approach. The stable settlement of interactive online lectures is expected to accelerate the digital transformation of universities.

Effect of Education Service Quality affecting Student Satisfaction in Cyber University (사이버대학의 교육서비스 품질이 학습 만족에 미친 영향)

  • This study investigates the effect of E-learning service quality toward users' learning satisfactions when moderating by users' study motivations at cyber universities. For this end, the E-learning service quality was measured with SERVQUAL which was widely employed in academic research area. From rich survey analysis, this study finds that the three factors of E-learning service quality such as concreteness, certainty, credibility and sympathy are statistically correlated with users' learning satisfactions, but the responsiveness is not. Also in order to test the hypothesis that the study motivation is a moderate variable, the three step regression analysis was applied. Finally, this research finds that the study motivation has the role of moderate variable to affect the users' learning satisfactions.

  • This study grasped the problem by examining the consciousness of professors about the e-Learning and reached a conclusion as follows. The understanding of the e-Learning in university should be reconsidered and diffused. To activate the e-Learning in university, the education system corresponding to course of the coming education should be introduced by hold the seminar and workshop periodically and establish vision and middle-short range policy for the e-Learning. Also, university should manage by characterizing a web-based class with the major for a learner hoping to take a cyber education course and propel contents development and interchange with a foreign university by concluding a convention for taking lectures having competitive power of an advanced country to make a worldwide university.

An Authoring Strategy for Cyber Learning Contents-based on Ontology (온톨로지 기반의 교육 콘텐츠 제작 기법)

  • Korean cyber universities now provide higher education service to learners but the courses suffer major limitations of low quality and inefficient format of their learning contents. Because of the absence of any standard authoring strategy for learning contents, tutors develop their own courseware with various formats and content structures. In addition, the lack of association between content learners causes them difficulties in finding and reusing related contents. In this paper, we propose an authoring strategy foradvanced learning contents based on SCORM and ontology. Our strategy improvesthe reusability and associativity of learning contents. We demonstrate the effectiveness of our proposed authoring strategy through developing learning contents such as understanding of digital contents.

  • The global impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on education has resulted in the near-complete closure of schools, early childhood education and care (ECEC) facilities, universities, and colleges. To help the educational system with social distancing during this pandemic, in this paper the creation of a simple 3D virtual tour will be of a great contribution. This web cyber tour will be program with JavaScript programming language. The development of this web cyber tour is to help the students and staffs to have access to the university infrastructure at a faraway distance during this difficult moment of the pandemic. The drone and matterport are the two devices used in the realization of this website tour. As a result, Users will be able to view a 3D model of the university building (drone) as well as a real-time tour of its inside (matterport) before uploading the model for real-time display by the help of this website tour. Since the users can enjoy the 3D model of the university infrastructure with all angles at a far distance through the website, it will solve the problem of Covid-19 infection in the university. It will also provide students who cannot be present on-site, with detailed information about the campus.

Difficulties that Female North Korean Defector Cyber University Students Experienced in their Social Work Field Practicum and Support Plan (여성 북한이탈주민 사이버대학생이 경험한 사회복지실습의 어려움과 지원방안)

  • There are increasing numbers of North Korean defectors. Many of them enter universities and major in social welfare in order to get jobs. As a required course, they must participate in field practicum and many difficulties are expected. This study aims to examine the North Korean defectors' practicum experience in specific, and to support more effectively in the field work education. To achieve this purpose, female North Korean defectors who go to G cyber university and have finished their field practicums, were interviewed in an in-depth interview. The data were analyzed with the open coding through the constant comparison method as Grounded theory's initial analysis. As the result, the following was found: 49 concepts, 18 sub-categories, and 7 categories. The categories include difficulties in the process of preparation for and beginning with various obstacles; confusion due to the differences between the North Korean and South Korean culture; tasks and functions that were not expected, personal relationships which were burdensome to them; feeling a lack of professional competence; inevitable environmental circumstances, and personal problems. Based on the results, suggestions for better support in field practice education in the side of universities, community agencies, individual students and the general society were addressed.
