Miniaturized machine tool can be used to produce 3D features based on CNC and PC-NC technology in the micro/meso scale. Wide applications of CNC technology are developed and there are lots of know-hows in the cutting process and their CNC application. It helps micro/meso scale structure to machine components, which can be used directly for practical applications. In the present research, as the machine tool is miniaturized, the manufacturing machine tools costs less when compared to the equipment used in other micromachining technologies. Moreover, with advancement of micro tool technology, the cutting process can be used to produce micro/meso scale parts. In conclusion, the proposed system can reduce the cost by utilizing the current machining technology, and as a result, complex micro/meso parts can be produced efficiently with high productivity.

Transparent and hard materials such as sapphire are used for many industrial applications as optical windows, hard materials on mechanical contact against abrasion, and substrate materials for opto-electronic semiconductor devices such as blue LED and blue LD etc. The materials should be cut along the proper shapes possible to be used for each application. In case of blue LED, the blue LED wafer should be cut to thousands of blue LED pieces at the final stage of the manufacturing process. The process of cutting the wafer is usually divided into two steps. The wafer is scribed along the proper shapes in the first step. It is inserted between transparent flexible sheets for easy handling. And then, it is broken and split in the next step. Harder materials such as diamonds are usually used to scribe the wafer, while it has a problem of low depth of scribing and abrasion of the harder material itself. The low depth of scribing can induce failure in breaking the wafer along the scribed line. It was also known that the expensive diamond tip should be replaced frequently for the abrasion. (omitted)

With a conventional positioning apparatus, it is very difficult simultaneously to achieve desired driving ranges and precision levels at the sub-micrometer level. Generally, a lead screw and friction drive have been used as servo control systems. These have large driving ranges, and high-speed positioning is feasible. In this study, we present a global servo system controlled by a laser interferometer acting as a displacement measurement sensor for achieving positioning accuracy at the sub-micrometer level.

This experiment was conducted to evaluate the forage yield and quality and the possibility to provide Festulolium bmunii(Festuca pratensis $Huds{\times}Lolium$ mult~jlotum Lam.) as forage source in Korea. The Festuloliurn braunii were harvested at boot, heading and anthesis stage, respectively. The field trials were performed 6om 1994 to 1996 at the forage experimental field, College of agriculture, Chunpam National University. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. The date of boot, heading and anthesis stage of Festulolium bmunii observed in Taejon were May 12, May 23 and June 1 in 1995, and June 1, June 4 and June 9 in 1996, respectively. Winter survival percentage of Festulolium bmunii war ranged 6om 96% to 98% and summer survival percentage were 75-86%. It would suggest that Festulolium brawlii persisted well in the aspect of overwintering, while it wasn' t widely adapted to drought and high temperature in Taejon regions. 2. The CP content and DMD of Festulolium bmunii tended to decline as the growth stage advanced. The CP content and DMD of Festulolium bmunii were high at the boot stage and those at the anthesis stage were low. But fiber contents at the boot stage were lower than those at anthesis stage(P< 0.05). The yields of the DM and DDM with advancing the growing stage tended to increase, while there was no difference in the CPDM yields among stages. On the otherhand, the yields of DM and DDM at the anthesis stage were the highest (P< 0.05), but there was no difference in CPDM yield among stages. Based on the results mentioned above, it is suggested that Festulolium b m n i i has a possibility to use until the anthesis stage under the cutting regimes and that it has a potentiality to provide one of a good forage sources. %'ifqqiZ 43q *(College of Agriculture, Chungnam National Un~versity, Taejon 305-764, Korea)

The purpose of this study is to suggest the ecological management based on ecological characteristics of urban forest in Bucheon city. The actual vegetation area in the survey sites(7,426,587$m^2$) consisted of Robinuia pseudoacacia forest(61.6%; 5,574,168 $m^2$), Pinus rigida forest(6.1%), Quercus mongolica community(3.2%), Q.spp.community(2.9%), etc. According to the importance value of artificial planting forest, 58(/300$m^2$) survey plots were divided into 6 groups; 1) R. pseudoacacia forest, 2) R. pseudoacacia-Q.serrata community, 3) R. pseudoacacia-Q.mongolica community, 4) P.rigide forest, 5) P.rigida-Q.serrata community, 6) P.rigida-Q. mongolica community. As the result, the artificial planting forest was expected to the proceeded to Q. serrata community and Q.mongolica community. The ecological succesion stage in the survey sites (7,426,587$m^2$) was divided into 5 states based on actual vegetation, succession trend of artificial planting forest in Bucheon; 1) Stage of impossible succession(4.7%, 2)Stage of inducible succession(78.7%), 3) Stage of progressive succession(2.7%), 4)Sage of last succession(1.4%), 5)Stage of native plant forest(12.5%). The ecological management of urban forest was suggested as the management method for succession promotion, according to density controlling and native species planting in Bucheon. Individual numbers of R. pseudoacacia might be reduced to 6~8 individuals/300$m^2$ at canopy, 9~21 individuals/300$m^2$ at under-story by selective cutting in order to keep 63~70% of total basal area at R. pseudoacacia forest. Individual numbers of P.rigida might be reduced to 8~9 individuals/300$m^2$ at canopy, 27~30individuals/300$m^2$ at under-story by selective cutting in order to keep 68~75% of total basal area at P. rigida forest. 24 species that were selective by constancy analysis were chosen as the ecological appropriate species. Since, this studyis discussing the ares of urban forest and botanical ecology, it is suggested that a study on the relations between of environmental factors such as soil, climate, and vegetation will be performed in the future.
We investigated temporal changes of composition, habitat area, growth rate and elements content of hydrophytes at the artificial vegetation island (AVI) in Kyungan Stream within Lake Paldang. We also assessed nutrient removal rate through cutting off the emergent part of hydrophytes. The kinds of hydrophytes have increased from four species (P. australis, P. japonica, T. angustifolia and the Z. latifolia) at initial stage of installation to more than 29 species for 6-year operation. P. japonica was most dominant species at the AVI in 2006. The habitat area of have increased about 2.5 times compared to the initial planting area, occupying 63% of AVI's vegetation area. The incoming species of S. fluviatilis and B. frondosa have adapted successively and expanded habitat area in the AVI. The relative growth rate of P. japonica and P. australis was highest in spring sprouting period. Their hights and weights have increased until summer, by the time they were cutting off the emergent part. They started regrowth immediately after cutting and continued to grow until September and withered away in November. The carbon contents of P. japonica and P. australis have increased during growth phase, on the contrary, the nitrogen and phosphorus contents have decreased. By cutting off and removing the emergent part (leaves and branches) of hydrophytes twice from AVI, $17.6gN/m^2/y$ of nitrogen and $1.3gP/m^2/y$ of phosphorus was removed from AVI in 2006.
This study was carried out to observe the changes of Oiji quality during fermentation by preparing the samples with various functional ingredients (Chinese pepper(Sancho), onion, pine leaves) exerting antimicrobial effect. The pH values of all experiment groups decreased significantly in proportion to the ripening period(P<0.05). Control and Chinese pepper-added groups showed a rapid decrease in pH after 5 days of ripening, and Onion- and Pine leaves-added groups after 3 days of ripening. All experimental groups showed the lowest pH value at the 20th day of ripening. Rapid permeation of salt solution occured in all groups at the 3rd day of ripening. But the increase rate of salt permeation decreased gradually after 3 days of ripening. Lightness and redness in color decreased gradually in all groups, but the redness of Pine leaves-added group increased at the 30th day of ripening. Yellowness of control group was higher than that of others after 10 days of ripening(P<0.05), and the yellowness of pine leaves-added Oiji was the lowest among all after 5 days of ripening(P<0.05). The maximum cutting force of raw cucumber was observed at stem end followed by blossom end and middle part, and the Oiji samples also showed the same order at the early stage of ripening. In general, maximum cutting force of minor ingredient-added Oiji was higher than that of control and maximum cutting force was decreased at the 30th day of ripening. Onion-added group showed the highest value among all at the 40th day of ripening. Chinese pepper-added group was ranked low, but onion- and pine leaves-added groups were ranked high in sensory evaluation.

This paper suggests a modeling technique for shape and volume prediction of fishes to cut them with identical weights for group meals. The measurement and prediction of frozen fishes for group meals are very difficult because they have a bending deformation occurring at frozen stage and a hollow by eliminating the internals. Besides there exist twinkles problem of surface caused by freeze and variable weights by moisture conditions. Therefore a complex estimation algorithm is necessary to predict the shape and volume prediction of fishes exactly. Hollow prediction, pattern classification and modeling for tails using neural network, integration based volume prediction algorithm are suggested and combined to solve those problems. In order to validate the proposed method, the experiments of 3-dimensional measurement, volume prediction and fish cutting for spanish mackerel, saury, and mackerel are executed. The cutting experiments for real fish are executed.

Sysnthesis and accumulation pattern or nonstructural carbohydrates in orchardgrass (Dactylis glomerata L.) cv. Potomac and Baraula, perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.) cv. Reveille and Semperweide and meadow fescue (Festuca pratensis Huds.) cv. Cosmos 11 and N.F.G. were studied under different meteorological environments and cutting managements. The field experiments were conducted as a split plot design with three cutting regimes of 6-7 cuts at grzing stage, 4-5 cuts at silage stage and 3 cuts at hay stage in Korea and West Germany from 1975 to 1979. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Accumlation of nonstructural carbohydrates in temperate grasses was influenced by grass species and regional climatic environments. Total nonstructural carbohydrates (TNC) of orchardgrass, perennial ryegrass and meadow fescue in Korea, taken as average of all cutting regimes, were shown a value of 4.39%, 6.08% and 8.01%, respectively, while those under cool summer climatic condition in West Germany accumulated to 10.42% (orchardgrass), 18.02% (perennial ryegrass) and 12.73% (meadow fescue). 2. Nonstructural carbohydrates in orchardgrass were accumulated mainly as mono-and disaccharose, while those in perennial ryegrass resreved as fructosan. The contents of fructosan and mono-and disaccharose were 1.34% and 3.04% for orchardgrass, 3.25% and 2.83% for perenninal ryegrass, respectively. Meadow fescue had a concentration of 3.93% fructosan and 4.08% mono-and disaccharose. 3. Synthesis and accumulation of nonstructural carbohydrates in temperate grasses were negative associated with increasing of air temperature (P$\leq$ 0.1%). Under hot stress during summer season in Korea, the contents of fructosan, mono-and disaccharose were decreased to about 0.34% nd 1.28% from a value of 1.34% and 2.69% in spring season. In Freising and Braunschweig, the concentration of reserved carbohydrates was less influenced by growing season. 4. Synthesis and accumulation pattern of nonstructural carbohydrates were shown a great respons to cutting frequency of the plants. Frequent cutting system under high temperature lowered the accumulation of reserved carbohydrates, especially fructosan and also caused to decrease the plant regrowth. However, under cool temperature, it shows a less differences of tructosan, mono-and disaccharose in the plants at all cutting systems.

The experiments were conducted to study the influence of growth location and cutting microelements macro-and on managements in temperate grasses in Korea and West Germany from 1975 to 1979. The field trials were designed as split plot with three grass species of Dactylis glomerata L., Lolium perenne L. and Festuca pratensis Huds under three cutting regimes at grazing stage, silage stage and hay stage. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. Concentrations of macro-and microelements in temperate grasses showed a different response to growth location and growing season. P concentration in the plants was decreased under hot stress in summer, whereas Mg and Na tended to be increased. The seasonal changes in K and Zn were not significant. 2. Morphological growth stage was to be found as an important factors influenced to mineral components. P and K contents in temperate grasses tended to be decreased as morphological development especially under high temperature in Suweon and Cheju. Ca and Mg were less affected by morphological stage and cutting managements. 3. Mean value of Ca/P ratio in the plants were 1.58, 1.33 and 1.21 for meadow fescue, perennial ryegrass and orchardgrass, respectively. Ca/P ratio in grasses tended to be increased as morphological development. 4. Zn deficiency in the plants occured in all grass species and experimental sites. Mean Zn concentration of the plant were 34.2%, 31.2% and 37.8% for Suweon, Cheju and Taekwalyong, respectivelly. Na deficiency occured in orchardgrass and meadow fescue, especially in taekwalyong. Cool temperature resulted in a decrease of Na absorption and accumulation.
