Determination of Optimal Support Position and Stability for Manufacturing Filter Screen for Ships Using Wedge Wires (웨지 와이어를 이용한 선박용 필터 스크린 제작을 위한 최적 지지 위치 및 안정성 판단)

  • In this study, the optimal support position determination and stability determination of the wedge wire screen were performed for the production of the wedge wire filter screen with improved mesh screen. In order to manufacture a filter screen using a wedge wire, the support rod wedge wire is first installed according to the filtering capacity, and then spot welding is performed while rotating the profile wire. In the existing manufacturing method, it was manufactured using a 3m rod wedge wire and then cut according to dimensions, but it required the manufacture of a 6m cylindrical screen. Due to the increase in wedge wire length, it is difficult to manufacture stress concentration at sagging and fixed positions. In order to shorten the time of analysis, a single wedge wire was applied instead of a plurality of wedge wires. The reliability and validity of the interpretation were presented and the results were derived. After selecting the support point at the 2m position, structural analysis was performed on the entire filter screen to confirm stability.The purpose of this study is to identify the maximum deflection of the wire for the production of a 6m wedge wire screen and secure design basic data so that it can work safely through optimal support.

  • In recent years, the solar cell market has steadily grown with the demand for new energies. And wire sawing is one of the most critical processes in manufacturing solar cell wafer which is supposed to affect the breakage of wafers most during the process and afterwards. Generally, the defects of the wafers are generated from the structural vibrations of the machine. In the sawing process, the vibrations cause unnecessary normal stress on the cut surface of wafers, and eventually create the surface damage or leave the residual stress. In this study, the dynamic properties of a wire saw have been analyzed through the frequency response test and the computer simulation. And the effects of the design alterations have been investigated to stabilize the machine structure and further to reduce the vibrations. The result shows that relatively simple design alterations of supporting structure without any change of major parts of the machine can suppress the vibrations of the machine effectively.

Tension Wire Sensor of shallow failure detection for the real time slop stabilization (지표변위 감지 센서를 활용한 사면 안전감지 시스템)

  • Early detection of premonitory symptom of slope movement ensures tremendous saving of lives and repair costs from catastrophic disaster. Therefore, it is essential to constantly monitor the performance and integrity of both reinforced and un-reinforced cut slopes. We developed a novel monitoring system by using tension wire sensors. It's advantages are highly sensitivity, simple installation, large displacement measurement, durability of system, capability of remote sensing. Real-time measurement of slope surface movement is shown graphically and it gives a warning when the monitored value exceeds a given threshold level so that any sign of abnormal slope movement can be easily perceived.

  • Titanium alloys have lightness, high strength and good corrosion resistant characteristics, and broadly used in manufacturing parts for military and aerospace industries. And these alloys also are recognized for organism materials comparatively and used as fixing ones in the human body. Nevertheless thess alloys have excellent properties such as corrosion resistance, heat resistance, and good tensile strength, it is difficult to machine by traditional methods because of high hardness and chemically activated property. So higher tool wear is expected when cutting by tools. Therefore, it is required nontraditional machining process. And the mechanical characteristics such as surface structure and shape, hardness and bending strength are studied for wire electrical discharge machined and surface ground titanium alloys for various heat-treated conditions.

  • Forest roads failure is one of the most common problems caused by heavy rainfalls. This study investigated the characteristics on stabilization measures installed for cutting slopes failure of forest road resulted from heavy rainfalls. Three primary factors (slope length, slope gradient, soil type) affecting cutting slope failure were considered and stabilization measures were classified into two types (A type: wooden fence, vegetation sandbag, stone masonry; B type: wire cylinder, gabion, concrete retaining wall) through discriminant analysis based on their capacity of resistance to slope failure. Results showed that A type was mainly installed in such conditions as cut slope <8 m, cut slope gradient $30-40^{\circ}$ and soil type with soil while B type occurred in locational conditions as cut slope length >8 m, cut slope gradient < $30^{\circ}$ and > $30^{\circ}$, and soil type of gravelly soil and rock.

  • The major causes of electrical fire are classified to short circuit fault, overload fault, electric leakage and electric contact failure. The occurrence factor of the fire is electric arc or spark accompanied with such electric faults, specially short circuit faults. Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker (ELB) and Molded_case Circuit Breaker (MCCB), that is, Residual Current Protective Devices (RCDs) used on low voltage distribution lines cut off earth leakage and overload, but the RCD can not cut off electric arc or spark to be a major factor of electrical fire. As the RCDs which are applied in low voltage distribution panel are prescribed to rated breaking time about 30ms(KS C 4613), the RCDs can't perceive to the periodic electric arc or spark of more short wavelength level. To improve such problem, this paper proposes a prevention apparatus using the line voltage drop of neutral wire and some semiconductor switching devices. Some experimental tests of the proposed apparatus confirm the validity of the analytical results.

  • The automation of the machining and manufacturing process of press die is designed to shorten the working time by avoiding unnecessary repetitive works and to obtain subject articles with standard quality. Automation as used in this paper includes 3-D die design, machining center, wire-cut electrical discharge machining, and drawing works. This paper deals with research work on the automation of the machining and manufacturing process of the press die after 3-D die design using the Irp bracket for the control box sensor. The research was conducted under the same setting as that of die design.
