In Korea, many nuclear power plants operate at a single site based on geographical characteristics, but the population density near the sites is higher than that in other countries. Thus, multiunit accidents are a more important consideration than in other countries and should be addressed appropriately. Currently, there are many issues related to a multiunit probabilistic safety assessment (PSA). One of them is the quantification of a multiunit PSA model. A traditional PSA uses a Boolean manipulation of the fault tree in terms of the minimal cut set. However, such methods have some limitations when rare event approximations cannot be used effectively or a very small truncation limit should be applied to identify accident sequence combinations for a multiunit site. In particular, it is well known that seismic risk in terms of core damage frequency can be overestimated because there are many events that have a high failure probability. In this study, we propose a quantification method based on a Monte Carlo approach for a multiunit PSA model. This method can consider all possible accident sequence combinations in a multiunit site and calculate a more exact value for events that have a high failure probability. An example model for six identical units at a site was also developed and quantified to confirm the applicability of the proposed method.
Although some successful recognition algorithms have been developed, most of them did emphasize on extracting accurate interpretations without considerations of manufacturability. Evaluating the manufacturability for multiple features leads to produce the machining sequences. In this paper, the A* algorithm guarantees the optimal setup sequences with minimizing the machining cost. Also, tolerances including surface roughness are converted to STEP formats to be utilized for more reliable process plans. Finally, decision tables are used to create the detailed operational sequences based on geometric tolerances and surface roughness. Machining parameters such as feed, depth of cut, and cutting speed for each operation are added to the routing sheet. Windows are presented to show how the entire system works for a sample part.
The purpose of this study is to estimate a landslide using the SLOPILE program from the slope reinforced by slope stability systems such as soil nailing and pile. To do this, cutting slope located at Donghae-Highway in Kwangwon-Do was considered. The behavior of slope was monitored for a long term by using instrumentation according to the reinforcement stages. The sequence of reinforcement stages was followed as pile installation, boring, soil nailing installation, anchoring and embankment. The result from this case study shows that the safety factor of slope depends on the reinforcement stage more or less.
Polysiphonia pacifica is rhodomelaceous red algal species that includes five varieties in Pacific Ocean: P. pacifica var. delicatula, P. pacifica var. distans, P. pacifica var. determinata, P. pacifica var. disticha, and P. pacifica var. gracilis. We here report morphology and phylogeny of P. pacifica to confirm the relationships among previously described varieties as a loan of type specimens from US and to assess phylogenetic relationships of closely related species using plastid protein-coding rbcL gene. Polysiphonia pacifica is distinguished by having creeping filaments attached by unicellular rhizoids not cut off by cross walls, four pericentral cells, ecorticate, trichoblasts rare, ultimate branchlets attenuate at the tip but not pungent, and tetrasporangia in long straight series in the ultimate branchlets. The protein-coding plastid rbcL gene sequence data show that P. pacifica is distinctly different from the superficially similar species, P. morrowii and P. stricta. However, the rbcL sequences of P. pacifica var. pacifica and var. disticha are identical though they have morphological variation.
This presentation aims to explore some possibility of non-segmental phonetics usually ignored in phonetics education. In pedagogical phonetics, especially ESL/EFL oriented phonetics speech sounds tend to be classified in two criteria 1) 'pronunciation' which deals with segments and 2) 'prosody' or 'suprasegmentals', a criterion that deals with non-segmental elements such as stress and intonation. However, speech involves more dynamic processing. It is non-linear and multi-dimensional in spite of the linear sequence of symbols in phonetic/phonological transcriptions. No word is without pitch or voice quality apart from segmental characteristics whether it is spoken in isolation or cut out from continuous speech. This simply tells the dichotomy of pronunciation and prosody is merely a useful convention. There exists some room to consider dynamic non-segmental phonetics. Examples of non-segmental phonetic investigation, some of the analyses conducted within the frame of Firthian Prosodic Analysis, especially of the relation between vowel variants and foot types, are examined and we see what kind of auditory phonetic training is required to understand impressionistic transcriptions which lie behind the non-segmental phonetics.
The Cut off-type progressive die for U-bending production part is a very specific division. This study reveals the sheet metal forming process with multi-forming die by Center Carrier type feeding system. Through the FEM simulation by DEFORM, it was accepted to u-bending process as the first performance to design of strip process layout. The next process of die development was studied according to sequence of die development, i.e. die structure, machining condition for die making, die materials, heat treatment of die components, know-how and so on. The feature of this study is the die development of scrapless progressive die of multi-stage through the Modeling on the I-DEAS program, components drawing on the Auto-Lisp, CAD/CAM application, ordinary machine tool operating and revision by tryout.

A cytosolic ascorbate peroxidase, hydrogen peroxide-scavenging enzyme, was characterized from Codonopsis lanceolata. The cytosolic ascorbate peroxidase cDNA (CAPX) was 983 nucleotides long and possess an open reading frame of 753 bp with 251 amino acids (MW 27.9 kDa) with pI 5.61. The deduced amino acid sequence of CAPX shows high homology to other known cytosolic APXs ($78{\sim}83%$), but the CAPX was clustered independently from compared ten plant APXs. The CAPX gene was highly expressed in leaf and stem tissues, but not in root. When Codonopsis leaves cut using scalpel were soaked in 1 mM hydorgen peroxide, the expression of CAPX gene was suppressed.
