In this study, the effects of the maximum grit depth of cut on the grinding characteristics were investigated. And AE signals produced during grinding processes have been studied to find out the appropriate AE parameters for assessing grinding processes. S45C steel has been ground under the conditions yielding removal rate of workpiece, 100, 200, 300 and 400rnm$^3$/min which was achived by altering workpiece velocity($\upsilon$) and apparent depth of cut(Z). According to the experimental results, the value of surface roughness increases but grinding power, energy rate of AE signal(AErms$^2$) and specific grinding energy consumed decrease with increase of the maximum grit depth of cut.

Research was initiated to investigate vegetation characteristics of native ('Pureundle' and 'Sewon') and introduced ('Brilliant' and 'Midnight') Kentucky bluegrass (KB, Poa pratensis L.) varieties by soil-seed applying system on a cut-slope in May 17, 2008. There were no statistic differences observed in soil hardness and soil moisture content while significant differences were observed in surface coverage rate, height and disease occurrence in native and introduced KB varieties. The introduced 'Brilliant' KB was highest in the surface coverage rate from the early period of seeding to August 11, 2008. The surface coverage rate of introduced varieties were high when compared to native varieties in their early growth stage. But native varieties reached to equal surface coverage rate with the introduced varieties when three months after seeding. The height of 'Pureundle' and 'Brilliant' KBs were high compared with Midnight and Sewon KBs. 'Pureundle' and 'Brilliant' KBs were damaged by disease whereas there were no disease occurrence in 'Midnight' and 'Sewon' KBs. Probably, the disease occurrence was close related with the height of KBs not with native and introduced KB varieties. These results indicate that the growth of KB on a cut-slope are statistically affected by varieties in early growth stage of this experiment but reach equal rate between native and introduced KB varieties in three months after seeding. This growth characteristics implies the huge potential of native KB varieties seeding for cut-slope vegetation. Considering that native KB varieties are adapted to a environment and have no risk of causing disturbance to the ecosystem compared to the introduced KB varieties, the use of them as native varieties for a cut-slope vegetation can be increased.

The experimental study for turning circular free fanned surface with TiN coated insert tool was conducted for different cutting conditions such as cutting speed, feed rate and depth-of-cut. For the fluctuation of 1.0mm depth-of-cut, the characteristics for machined surface and tool wear were less influenced by the feed rate and cutting speed than those of higher depth of cut. The higher surface roughness and surface precision were obtained in lower cutting speed. For the fluctuation of 1.5mm depth-of-cut, the higher surface roughness was obtained for the case of the lower feed rate of 0.05-10mm/rev and the higher cutting speed of 80m/min. For the fluctuation of 2.0mm depth-of-cut, the surface roughness and surface precision were too worse to machine the specimen And the flank wear on the tool was increased rapidly rather than the crater wear.

Because of the increasing tool cost for cutting hard-to-cut materials, abrasive water jet (AWJ) milling recently has been regarded as a potential alternative machining method. However, it is difficult to control the depth and width of cut in AWJ milling because they vary depending on many AWJ cutting parameters. On 27 conditions within a limited range of pressure, feed rate, and abrasive flow rate, AWJ cutting was conducted on titanium, and depth profiles were measured with a laser sensor. From the depth profile data, depth and width of cut were acquired at each condition. The relationships between depth and parameters and between width and parameters were derived through regression analysis. The former can provide proper cutting conditions and the latter the proper pick feed necessary to generate a milled surface. It is verified that pressure mostly affects depth, whereas abrasive flow rate mostly affects width.

This experiment was to study the effect of pure mineral nitrogen fertilizing on seasonal distribution of dry matter yield and the advisable mineral nitrogen amounts on grassland. The results were as follows: 1. With longer regrowth periods the absolute dry matter yields and the nitrogen-efficiences due to nitrogen fertilizing increased substantially, whereas the quality declined at the relatively lesser cutting frequencies. 2. The first cut at 3-cut regimes, the first and fourth cut at 4-cut regimes, and the second and last cut at 5-and 6-cut regimes showed the highest nitrogen-efficiency, respectively. 3. By the sigmaformed process of production curve the most efficient mineral N-dressing rate per ha and cut was calculated: 42-56kg N on the 3-cut areas, 39-55kg N on the 4-cut areas, 38-47kg N on the 5-cut areas and 35-48kg N/ha/cut on the &cut areas. 4. In dependence on site and kind of calculation the economical borders were reached with the following dressings of mineral N/ha/cut: 90-100kg on the 3-cut areas, 70-100kg on the 4-cut areas and 50- 90kg on the 5-and 6-cut areas.
This study was conducted to develop the regulating methods for the optimal harvest stage of new sprout for woody plants, and to clarify the effects of storage condition and period on the growth of new sprout formed of Aralia elata cv. 'Jeongkwang'. Japanese angelica tree were collected in the Jangheung district of Jeonnam on 20. March, 2005, and those cut branches were stored at $5{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ and 80 to 90% of the relative humidity, and were cut in water. Survival rate of cut branches for Aralia elata cv. 'Jeongkwang' was significantly increased when that was used for the cutting after the collection with no storage. And those survival rate was much more increased when that was stored at 80 to 90% of relative humidity than 40 to 50% of relative humidity. Number of new sprouts formed which were not stored immediately after the collection 3.2 to 3.4, and that were stored at cold storage room before cutting and cut on 1. June and 1. August were 5.1 to 5.3. Leaf growth of cut branches cut in water on 20. March started at ten days after cutting, and that on 1. June and 1. August at one to two days after cutting. Slow and mature sprout growth of Aralia elata cv. 'Jeongkwang' which were cut in water were different by the cold storage periods. Nineteen days were needed for the mature growth of sprout when cut in water on 20. March, and thirteen days on 1. August.
The cylindrical cut is most frequently used in tunnel blast regardless of their dimensions. In this study the new parallel cut is proposed to raise advance per round, which is considered to be an elevation of the traditional cylinder cuts. The general geometric pattern of a new cut with parallel blast holes is proposed. The detailed burden and spacing between the central blasthole and those of the four section are also given. The blast results between new cut and traditional cylinder cut are given. The main results of this study are as follows. 1) The average advances per rounds in new cuts can reach 99.5% of drilling length. That of traditional cylinder cuts are known approximately 90∼95% 2) Specific charge weight of new cut compare to that of cylinder cut is approximately reduced 5% from 1.363 to 1.297 kg/㎥ 3) Specific drilling rate is also reduced 8% from 2.393 to 2.130 m/㎥ 4) Vibrations, fly rock, and fragmentation produced by the new blast are to be proved superior to those of the traditional cylinder cuts.
Even small changes in phosphorus concentrations in stream water could cause eutrophication because of very low level of phosphorus concentrations in natural waters. I investigated the impact of strip cut and clear cut on phosphorus concentrations in stream water at the Hubbard Brook Experimental Forest and investigated stream water phosphorus concentrations as a function of flow rate and season (as well as cutting history). Mean phosphate concentrations in the control (undisturbed forest) increased $1.9{\mu}g\;L^{-1}\;to\;2.6{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$, while strip cut treatment increased phosphate concentrations in stream water $2.2{\mu}g\;L^{-1}\;to\;3.7{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ during the same period. There was no significant effect of clear cut treatment on phosphate concentrations in stream water. No relationships were found between discharge rate and phosphate concentrations, but the magnitude of fluctuation were increased during two decades in undisturbed forest: $1-5{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ from 1963 to 1975 and $1-12{\mu}g\;L^{-1}$ from 1983 to 1995. Based on this study, forest harvests with buffer zone will not make a problem by imported phosphate to cause eutrophication in natural water.
Human leukocyte antigen (HLA) typing was performed in the diagnostic immunology laboratory of the Seoul National University Hospital. Among 611 HLA-DR tests, specific bead reactions suspected of being false positive and false negative in Lot 20 reagents were found. Therefore, we aimed to identify the factors causing cut-off corrections by examining cases where cut-off corrections were not made for 533 test results and cases where cut-off corrections were made for 78 cases after the cut-off corrections of specific beads. Frequency analysis was conducted to verify the demographic characteristics, and descriptive statistics were used to assess the humidity in the laboratory as a variable. Cross-tabulation was done to examine the association between cut-off corrections and demographic characteristics. Independent samples t-tests were conducted to verify the difference in humidity based on cut-off corrections. Finally, logistic regression analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between humidity levels and the rate of cut-off corrections, and results showed as the humidity level in the laboratory highs, the number of cut-off corrections decreased by a factor of 0.986. This suggests cut-off corrections rate increases when the humidity lowers. Therefore, it indicates that humidity in the laboratory is also a factor that affects HLA typing results.
This study was conducted to develop the industrial producing technology of sprout vegetables using the cut twigs of woody plants. We have cut the twigs of wild mulberry tree on 13 April,2006 to examine the sprouting rate as affected by the storage conditions on relative humidity of $40{\sim}50%$ and $80{\sim}90%$ under $4{\sim}6^{\circ}C$ temperature. And we have also investigated the sprouting growth following those storage period of twigs cut with $1{\sim}3$ buds. The longer storage periods, the less survival rate of wild mulberry twigs cut. The sprouting rate of cut twigs gathered on the day which had not stored at low temperature was 97.4%. And The sprouting rate at the relative humidity of $40{\sim}50%$ after storing at low temperature for 122 days were 34.2%, and that of at $80{\sim}90%$ relative humidity was 85.7%. The longer storage periods, the more the number, length and width of sprouts. Therefore, the twigs of a wild mulberry trees cut with $1{\sim}3$ buds were able to produce the sprout vegetables under the condition of temperature $4{\sim}6^{\circ}C$ and relative humidity $80{\sim}90%$.
