  • Lens designers generally refer to flat image fields and attempt to minimize the field curvature. Present-day CMOS image sensors for mobile phone cameras, however, are not flat, but curved. Sometimes it is necessary to generate an intentional field curvature according to the degree and direction of the CMOS image-sensor’s curvature. This paper presents the degree of curvature of a CMOS image sensor measured using an interferometer, and proposes an effective compensation method that minimizes the net field curvature through optimizing the air gap between lens elements, which is demonstrated using simulations and experiments.

  • In this article, generalized Sasakian space forms are investigated on W0 -curvature tensor. Characterizations of generalized Sasakian space forms are obtained on W0-curvature tensor. Special curvature conditions established with the help of Riemann, Ricci, concircular, projective curvature tensors are discussed on W0-curvature tensor. With the help of these curvature conditions, important characterizations of generalized Sasakian space forms are obtained. In addition, the concepts of W0-pseudosymmetry and W0 -Ricci pseudosymmetry are defined and the behavior according to these concepts for the generalized Sasakian space form is examined.

  • Objectives: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the buccolingual curvature at the apical one third in type II mesial canals of mandibular molars using the radius and angle of curvature. Materials and Methods: Total 100 mandibular molars were selected. Following an endodontic access in the teeth, their distal roots were removed. #15 H- or K-files (Dentsply Maillefer) were inserted into the mesiobuccal and mesiolingual canals of the teeth. Radiographs of the teeth were taken for the proximal view. Among them, type II canals were selected and divided into two subgroups, IIa and IIb. In type IIa, two separate canals merged into one canal before reaching the apex and in type IIb, two separate canals merged into one canal within the apical foramen. The radius and angle of curvature of specimens were examined. Results: In type II, mean radius of curvature in mesiolingual and mesiobuccal canals were 2.82 mm and 3.58 mm, respectively. The radius of the curvature of mesiolingual canals were significantly smaller than that of mesiobuccal canals in type II, and especially in type IIa. However, there were no statistically significant differences in radius of curvature between mesiobuccal and mesiolingual canals in type IIb and there were no significant differences in angle of curvature between type IIa and IIb. Conclusion: In this study, type II mesial canals of mandibular molars showed severe curvature in the proximal view. Especially, mesiolingual canals of type IIa had more abrupt curvature than mesiobuccal canals at the apical one third.

  • This paper presents the experimetal result on the viscoplastic response and collapse of the titanium alloy tubes subjected to cyclic bending. Based on the capacity of the bending machine, three different curvature-rates were used to highlight the viscoplastic behavior of the titanium alloy tubes. The Curvature-controlled experiments were conducted by the curvature-ovalization measurement apparatus which was designed by Pan et al. (1998). It can be observed from experimental data that the higher the applied curvature-rate, the greater is the degree of hardening of titanium alloy tube. However, the higher the applied curvature-rate, the greater is the degree of ovalization of tube cross-section. Furthermore, due to the greater degree of the ovalization of tube cross-section for higher curvature-rates under cyclic bending, the number of cycles to produce buckling is correspondingly reduced. Finally, the theoretical formulation, proposed by Pan and Her (1998), was modified so that it can be used for simulating the relationship between the controlled curvature and the number of cycles to produce buckling for titanium alloy tubes under cyclic bending with different curvature-rates. The theoretical simulation was compared with the experimental test data. Good agreement between the experimental and theoretical results has been achieved.

  • In the automotive industry, aluminum is widely used to reduce the vehicle weight. Aluminum curved extruded components are used for the design of frame parts. This study investigates the curvature extrusion process to produce the aluminum curved suspension arm. In the curvature extrusion process, the bending process is simultaneously carried out with the extrusion process. Firstly, porthole extrusion was investigated by using FE analysis to produce aluminum suspension arm. And then the bending process condition was determined to produce the final suspension arm with the required curvature. In this research, the guide roll movement causes the bending of extruded product. The moving distance and velocity of guide roll were controlled to meet the required curvature of suspension arm. Finally, the curved suspension arm was manufactured by the curvature extrusion experiment under the proposed curvature extrusion condition.

  • Due to the fact that 3D printing is applied to many areas of life, 3D printing models are often used illegally without any permission from the original providers. This paper presents a novel watermarking algorithm for the copyright protection and ownership identification for 3D printing based on the radius curvature of 3D triangle. 3D triangles are extracted and classified into groups based on radius curvature by the clustering algorithm, and then the mean radius curvature of each group will be computed for watermark embedding. The watermark data is embedded to the groups of 3D triangle by changing the mean radius curvature of each group. In each group, we select a 3D triangle which has the nearest radius curvature with the changed mean radius curvature. Finally, we change the vertices of the selected facet according to the changed radius curvature has been embedded watermark. In experiments, the distance error between the original 3D printing model and the watermarked 3D printing model is approximate zero, and the Bit Error Rate is also very low. From experimental results, we verify that the proposed algorithm is invisible and robustness with geometric attacks rotation, scaling and translation.

  • An optimal capturing trajectory for a moving object is proposed in this paper based on the observation that a single-curvature path is more accurate than double-or triple-curvature paths. Moving distance, moving time, and trajectory error are major factors considered in deciding an optimal path for capturing the moving object. That is, the moving time and distance are minimized while the trajectory error is maintained as small as possible. The three major factors are compared for the single and the double curvature trajectories to show superiority of the single curvature trajectory. Based upon the single curvature trajectory, a kinematics model of a mobile robot is proposed to follow and capture the moving object, in this paper. A capturing scenario can be summarized as follows: 1. Motion of the moving object has been captured by a CCD camera., 2. Position of the moving object has been estimated using the image frames, and 3. The mobile robot tries to follow the moving object along the single curvature trajectory which matches positions and orientations of the moving object and the mobile robot at the final moment. Effectiveness of the single curvature trajectory modeling and capturing algorithm has been proved, through simulations and real experiments using a 2-DOF wheel-based mobile robot.

  • Curvature extrusion process has several advantages in comparison to the conventional extrusion and bending process. In the curvature extrusion, the extruded part is directly bent during extrusion. Therefore, it does not need additional bending process after extrusion. In the curvature extrusion process, it is possible to produce curved extruded products that have a constant or various curvatures. It is essential that we predict the curvatures of the extruded product to meet the required curvatures. This paper proposed a theoretical model that can predict the curvature of extruded product produced by the curvature extrusion process. Using the proposed model the movement of guide tool that causes the bending of extruded product was controlled to produce the required curved automotive Al bumper back beam. The effectiveness of the proposed prediction model and the movement of guide tool were verified by the FE analysis and curved extrusion experiment.

  • Objectives: To investigate the change of the cervical spine curvature after whiplash injury. Methods: Clinical study carried out in 46 patients who already had neck pain and took a cervical lateral X-Ray in Jaseng Oriental hospital. these patients had whiplash injury whitin one year. We followed up the cervical lateral X-Ray after that. Cervical spine curvature was measured using four measuring method. Type of cervical spine curvature was analyzed by Jochumsen method, Ishihara Index. T-test was used. Results: By Jackson's Angle and Cobb's angle, it is tend to be more Iordotic curvature after whiplash injury. In Jochumsen method, Ishihara Index the cervical spine curvature was significantly increased their Iordotic angle(P<0.05). Conclusion: The results suggest that after whiplash injury, patients cervical curvature change more Iordortic curve.
