Novel Compact Current Type Pulse Power Generator

  • This paper proposes a compact pulse generator fur NOx removal application for diesel automotive. The rising time is important factor to increase NOx removal efficiency in pulsed corona discharge method. Manufacturing cost and compactness of the pulse power generator should be satisfied for automotive application. The proposed pulse power uses a low voltage thyristor, a pulse transformer with the function of saturated magnetic switch, and series connected general diodes as opening switch to satisfy that requirements. With 200 resistor load, the experiment results show that the output voltage is 21kV, the rising time is about 21ns, and the pulse width (FWHM) is about 42ns.

Analysis and Implementation of a DC-DC Converter with an Active Snubber

  • This paper presents a soft switching converter to achieve the functions of zero voltage switching (ZVS) turn-on for the power switches and dc voltage step-up. Two circuit modules are connected in parallel in order to achieve load current sharing and to reduce the size of the transformer core. An active snubber is connected between two transformers in order to absorb the energy stored in the leakage and magnetizing inductances and to limit the voltage stresses across the switches. During the commutation stage of the two complementary switches, the output capacitance of the two switches and the leakage inductance of the transformers are resonant. Thus, the power switches can be turned on under ZVS. No output filter inductor is used in the proposed converter and the voltage stresses of the output diodes is clamped to the output voltage. The circuit configuration, the operation principles and the design considerations are presented. Finally, laboratory experiments with a 340W prototype, verifying the effectiveness of the proposed converter, are described.

Analysis and Design of a PFC AC-DC Converter with Electrical Isolation

  • This study presents a single-phase power factor correction AC-DC converter that operates in discontinuous conduction mode. This converter uses the pulse-width modulation technique to achieve almost unity power factor and low total harmonic distortion of input current for universal input voltage $90V_{rms}$ to $264V_{rms}$) applications. The converter has a simple structure and electrical isolation. The magnetizing-inductor energy of the transformer can be recycled to the output without an additional third winding. The steady-state analysis of voltage gain and boundary operating conditions are discussed in detail. Finally, experimental results are shown to verify the performance of the proposed converter.

  • 엑티브 클램프 포워드 컨버터는 고효율, 간단한 구조의 특징으로 PC 파워 시스템, 서버 파워 시스템과 같은 어플리케이션에 많이 사용 되고 있다. 특히 더블 앤디드 엑티브 클램프 포워드 컨버터는 작은 출력 필터와 고효율의 장점이 있으나, 변압기 오프셋 전류로 인해 변압기의 크기와 코어 손실이 증가하게 된다. 본 논문에서는 새로운 게이트 신호 조정을 통해 낮은 변압기 오프셋 전류를 갖는 새로운 더블 앤디드 엑티브 클램프 포워드 컨버터를 제안한다. 따라서 변압기의 크기와 코어 손실, 1차측과 출력 인덕터의 전력손실이 감소함으로써 높은 전력밀도와 고효율을 달성하게 된다.

  • This paper proposes a novel control method to minimize conduction losses of dual active bridge (DAB) converters for on-board chargers of electric vehicles (EVs). In the control method, two variables are regulated, which are the phase-shift angle between the primary and secondary full bridges and the switching frequency. From time-domain analysis, an optimal phase-shift angle is derived to achieve the minimum RMS value of the transformer current. The proposed method was implemented for a 3.6-kW SiC-based prototype to validate its effectiveness. A high efficiency over 97.3% has been achieved for a wide output voltage range.

  • To reduce harmonics in the AC line and achieve a unit power factor, A 4 paralled single phase PWM AC/DC converter has been proposed. In this paper, the coupling components are derived analytically from PWM converter input transformer model and control scheme to solve this problem is proposed. Unit power factor was obtained and the AC-side current harmonics were reduced. Simulation results show the usefulness of the proposed method and applicability to PWM converter in auxiliary block of high speed train.

  • This paper presents a high power-hybrid multilevel PWM rectifier with unity power factor. The features and advantages of the proposed PWM rectifier can be summarized as follows; 1) It realizes the high power high voltage AC/DC power conversion. 2) It uses no transformer which is bulky and heavy, 3) It has hybrid structure so that switching devices can be effectively utilized, 4) It produces high quality AC current even in high power high voltage applications, 5) The input power factor remains unity by simple modulation index control. The multilevel rectifier is analyzed by using the circuit DQ transformation whereby the characteristics and control equations are obtained.

  • In this paper, the inductive power collector using electromagnetic induction for the PRT{Personal Rapid Transit) system is suggested and some ideas for power collector design to improve the power transfer performance are presented. The proposed the inductive power collector is used for the PRT system, which has a large air-gap and demands a large electrical power capability. But, low output power is generated due to a loosely coupled characteristic of the large air-gap. Therefore, double layer construction of secondary winding, which was divided in half to increase both output current and output voltage was suggested. Also, model of power collector and parallel winding structure are presented, in addition, the performance of inductive power collector to alignment condition between the primary power line and the inductive power transformer was verified by computer simulation of 2kW model.

  • This paper is indicating the problems, which are the conduction loss on the high frequency transformer, the protection of rectification diode as the snubber loss and the stress of switching main devices, as be made high current and high speed in the phase-shift switching full-bridge DC-DC converter is used the power supply’s main circuit of high capacity. To improve those problems, in this paper, it is proposed that is the resonant circuit auxiliary can be reduced conduction losses and stabilized output control. And, it is constructed prototype of the power supply as the result of computer simulations.

  • In this study, we have been proposed the new type of a transcranial magnetic stimulation adopted a variable voltage capacitor with Cockcroft-Walton circuit and constant-frequency current resonant half-bridge inverter. This a transcranial magnetic stimulation has some merits compared with the conventional one. First, it doesn't require the high voltage transformer. And second, it has less switching losses, compact size and capability in adjusting the transcranial magnetic stimulation output energy precisely. In this paper, we have performed the output characteristics of a transcranial magnetic stimulation system which is well known as magnetic stimulation. The tested results are described as a function of pulse repetition rate and switching numbers of the half-bridge inverter.
