Failure Prediction of Metal Oxide Varistor Using Nonlinear Surge Look-up Table Based on Experimental Data

  • The metal oxide varistor (MOV) is a major component of the surge protection devices (SPDs) currently in use. The device is judged to be faulty when fatigue caused by the continuous inflow of lightning accumulates and reaches the damage limit. In many cases, induced lightning resulting from lightning strikes flows in to the device several times per second in succession. Therefore, the frequency or the rate at which the SPD is actually exposed to stress, called a surge, is outside the range of human perception. For this reason, the protective device should be replaced if it actually approaches the end of its life even though it is not faulty at present, currently no basis exists for making the judgment of remaining lifetime. Up to now, the life of an MOV has been predicted solely based on the number of inflow surges, irrespective of the magnitude of the surge current or the amount of energy that has flowed through the device. In this study, nonlinear data that shows the damage to an MOV depending on the count of surge and the amount of input current were collected through a high-voltage test. Then, a failure prediction algorithm was proposed by preparing a look-up table using the results of the test. The proposed method was experimentally verified using an impulse surge generator

청소년의 건강행태가 현재 알레르기 질환 유병에 미치는 영향: 제15차(2019년) 청소년 건강행태 조사 자료를 바탕으로 (The Effect of Adolescent Health Behavior on the Prevalence of Allergic Diseases based on the 15th(2019) Korea Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey)

  • Purpose: The study investigated the effect of adolescent health behavior on the prevalence of current allergic diseases. Methods: The subjects were 57,303 middle and high school youth. Data were analyzed using Rao-Scott χ2 test and complex sample logistic regression analysis. Results: While controlling the affect of the general characteristics of the subjects, health behaviors affecting the current prevalence of allergic diseases were smoking, drinking, physical activity, eating habits, drug abuse, and mental health. Smoking behaviors affecting the current prevalence of allergic diseases were lifetime smoking experience, smoking days, liquid e-cigarette lifetime smoking experience, number of liquid electronic cigarette smoking days, e-cigarette lifetime smoking experience, e-cigarette smoking days, amount of smoking, second-hand smoking and drinking behaviors were lifetime drinking, drinking days, the amount of drinking, and severe drinking. Variables such as physical activity exceeding 60 minutes days, intake of energy and sweet drinks, water intake, habitual drug use and mental health behavior such as stress perception, weekday sleep time, subjective sleep satisfaction, depression, suicidal thoughts/ plan/ attempts affect current allergic diseases (p<.001). Conclusion: The results showed that current allergic disease related health behaviors in Korean adolescents. Therefore, considering these factors, it may be helpful to facilitate a health promotion plan for prevention and management of such diseases and to promote evidence-based health practices at school.

Body image distortion in fifth and sixth grade students may lead to stress, depression, and undesirable dieting behavior

  • The widespread pursuit of a thin physique may have a detrimental impact on the wellbeing of preadolescents. The influence of body image distortions on the lifestyles, dieting behaviors, and psychological factors was investigated in 631 fifth and sixth grade children in Kyeonggi-do, Korea. Children were classified into three weight groups (underweight, normal, and overweight) and three perception groups (underestimation, normal, and overestimation). Necessary information was obtained by questionnaire, and each subject's weight status was determined by the Rohrer index calculated from the annual measurement records, which were obtained from the school. According to their current weights, 57.4% of children were normal and 32.2% were overweight or obese, 16.6% of the children overestimated their body weight, and 55.2% had an undistorted body image. Overweight children had desirable lifestyles and dietary habits and presented reasonable weight control behaviors. Compared to those without distortion, the overestimated group had greater interest in weight control ($P$ = 0.003) and dissatisfaction with their body weights ($P$ = 0.011), presented unhealthy reasons to lose weight ($P$ = 0.026), and had higher scores for "feeling sad when comparing own body with others" ($P$ = 0.000) and for "easily getting annoyed and tired" ($P$ = 0.037), even though they had similar obesity indices. More subjects from the overestimation group ($P$ = 0.006) chose drama/movies as their favorite TV programs, suggesting a possible role for the media in body image distortion. These findings suggest that body image distortion can lead preadolescents to develop stress about obesity and unhealthy dieting practices, despite similar obesity indices to those without distorted body images. These results emphasize the importance of having an undistorted body image.

대학병원 건강검진센터 내원자의 스트레스 지각 정도, 우울 증상 및 신체질환 이환율 (The Stress Perception, Depressive Symptoms and Medical Comorbidity in Healthcare Center)

  • 연구 목적 일반 인구에서 스트레스, 우울 정도, 신체질환 간의 관계와 우울증의 위험 요인을 확인하고자 연구를 진행하였다. 방 법 2009년 1월부터 2009년 12월까지 고려대학교 구로병원 건강검진센터에 내원한 일반인 1,764명에서 인구역학 자료를 조사하고 PSS와 PHQ-9 설문지를 시행하였다. 스트레스군, 우울군, 신체질환군을 구분하여 스트레스, 우울, 신체질환 간의 상관분석과 로지스틱 회귀분석을 시행하였다. 결 과 1,476명의 연구 대상자 중 198명(11.8%)이 우울군에 해당되었으며, 평균 PSS 점수(23.19점)와 평균 PHQ-9 점수(12.95점) 모두 정상군에 비해 높았다. 스트레스가 높을수록, 신체질환이 많을수록 우울 점수도 증가하였다. 여성, 최근의 건강이상으로 내원한 사람, 불규칙적인 운동과 흡연력, 협심증과 뇌경색 기왕력이 있는 군에서는 우울증의 위험도가 증가하였다. 결 론 본 연구에서 PSS, PHQ-9은 건강검진센터에서 정신건강 선별검사를 시행할 수 있는 유용한 기회를 제공하였다. 스트레스를 많이 받고 신체질환이 많을수록 우울증의 위험도가 증가하므로, 신체질환이 동반되었거나 건강하지 못한 생활습관을 지닌 개인에서 정신질환 선별검사가 필요하겠다.

영구임대주택 입주자의 관리비 및 임대료 체납 실태와 의식 (Issues and Perception on Management Fee and Rental Payment Overdue of Permanent Rental Housing Residents)

  • Permanent rental housing, the construction of which was strongly financed by the central government, is regarded as a social housing for those who fall within the lowest income bracket. Differing from "public rental housing", offered to tenants for sale after a five year rental period, this type of housing is intended for rental use on a long-tenn basis. At present, about 190,000 permanent rental housing units exist in Korea. According to a statistics, 15.6% of its residents did not pay their management fee and rental payment in 4 or more months in 2005, which places stress on the housing management. Based on the "eviction condition" stipulated in the tenancy agreement for permanent rental housing, a householder owning assets or a vehicle which is not used as his means of living, who is overdue with his management fee and rental payment for a long time, may be evicted from the house. However, there are many conflicts and problems between administrators/housing managers and residents in the process of enforcing this regulation. The purpose of this study is to explore the key issues associated with the present situation and the reasons why so many management fee and rental payment for permanent rental housing are overdue. For the purpose of research, data were collected from 10,990 permanent rental housing residents nationwide via a questionnaire survey in February 2007. One third of the respondents had an experience of more than 2 months overdue since they have moved in current residence. For further analysis, the respondents were divided into three groups, based on their working ability. The major finding showed that the group of respondents who have working ability required a more practical plan, such as employment, to have a sustainable life, while the other group of no labor force indicated a need for more housing allowance from the government. To suggest more specific alternatives for the subject of housing payment overdue, further comparison study should be performed between the residents of permanent rental housing and other low income tenants in private housing sector.

The Association of Anxiety Severity With Health Risk Behaviors in a Large Representative Sample of Korean Adolescents

  • Objectives: Anxiety disorders are the most common psychiatric disorders in adolescents and seem to occur the earliest among all forms of psychopathology. The aim of this study was to investigate the association of anxiety severity with health risk behaviors and mental health in adolescents. Methods: Data from the 2020 Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-Based Survey were analyzed. A total of 54948 adolescents responded to the 7-item Generalized Anxiety Disorder Scale (GAD-7) for the assessment of their anxiety severity as well as to the mental health and health risk behavior survey. Logistic regression analysis, t tests, and variance analysis of a complex sample general linear model were used to examine the association of anxiety severity with health behaviors and mental health. Results: After statistical adjustment for sociodemographic characteristics, the subjects in the severe anxiety group were significantly more likely to be current smokers (odds ratio [OR]: 2.08, 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.72-2.50), current drinkers (OR: 1.91, 95% CI: 1.67-2.19), experience habitual substance use (OR: 10.89, 95% CI: 8.22-14.42), have sexual intercourse (OR: 2.10, 95% CI: 1.76-2.51), and have unprotected intercourse (OR: 2.21, 95% CI: 1.67-2.92) than those in the normal group. Anxiety severity negatively correlated with sleep satisfaction and happiness, but positively correlated with stress perception, loneliness, depressive symptoms, and suicidality. Conclusion: Adolescent anxiety is associated with health risk behaviors and poor mental health. Thus, early screening and intervention for anxiety in adolescents could contribute to the management and coping of youth health risk behaviors in the community.

Perceptional Change of a New Product, DMB Phone

  • Digital Convergence means integration between industry, technology, and contents, and in marketing, it usually comes with creation of new types of product and service under the base of digital technology as digitalization progress in electro-communication industries including telecommunication, home appliance, and computer industries. One can see digital convergence not only in instruments such as PC, AV appliances, cellular phone, but also in contents, network, service that are required in production, modification, distribution, re-production of information. Convergence in contents started around 1990. Convergence in network and service begins as broadcasting and telecommunication integrates and DMB(digital multimedia broadcasting), born in May, 2005 is the symbolic icon in this trend. There are some positive and negative expectations about DMB. The reason why two opposite expectations exist is that DMB does not come out from customer's need but from technology development. Therefore, customers might have hard time to interpret the real meaning of DMB. Time is quite critical to a high tech product, like DMB because another product with same function from different technology can replace the existing product within short period of time. If DMB does not positioning well to customer's mind quickly, another products like Wibro, IPTV, or HSPDA could replace it before it even spreads out. Therefore, positioning strategy is critical for success of DMB product. To make correct positioning strategy, one needs to understand how consumer interprets DMB and how consumer's interpretation can be changed via communication strategy. In this study, we try to investigate how consumer perceives a new product, like DMB and how AD strategy change consumer's perception. More specifically, the paper segment consumers into sub-groups based on their DMB perceptions and compare their characteristics in order to understand how they perceive DMB. And, expose them different printed ADs that have messages guiding consumer think DMB in specific ways, either cellular phone or personal TV. Research Question 1: Segment consumers according to perceptions about DMB and compare characteristics of segmentations. Research Question 2: Compare perceptions about DMB after AD that induces categorization of DMB in direction for each segment. If one understand and predict a direction in which consumer perceive a new product, firm can select target customers easily. We segment consumers according to their perception and analyze characteristics in order to find some variables that can influence perceptions, like prior experience, usage, or habit. And then, marketing people can use this variables to identify target customers and predict their perceptions. If one knows how customer's perception is changed via AD message, communication strategy could be constructed properly. Specially, information from segmented customers helps to develop efficient AD strategy for segment who has prior perception. Research framework consists of two measurements and one treatment, O1 X O2. First observation is for collecting information about consumer's perception and their characteristics. Based on first observation, the paper segment consumers into two groups, one group perceives DMB similar to Cellular phone and the other group perceives DMB similar to TV. And compare characteristics of two segments in order to find reason why they perceive DMB differently. Next, we expose two kinds of AD to subjects. One AD describes DMB as Cellular phone and the other Ad describes DMB as personal TV. When two ADs are exposed to subjects, consumers don't know their prior perception of DMB, in other words, which subject belongs 'similar-to-Cellular phone' segment or 'similar-to-TV' segment? However, we analyze the AD's effect differently for each segment. In research design, final observation is for investigating AD effect. Perception before AD is compared with perception after AD. Comparisons are made for each segment and for each AD. For the segment who perceives DMB similar to TV, AD that describes DMB as cellular phone could change the prior perception. And AD that describes DMB as personal TV, could enforce the prior perception. For data collection, subjects are selected from undergraduate students because they have basic knowledge about most digital equipments and have open attitude about a new product and media. Total number of subjects is 240. In order to measure perception about DMB, we use indirect measurement, comparison with other similar digital products. To select similar digital products, we pre-survey students and then finally select PDA, Car-TV, Cellular Phone, MP3 player, TV, and PSP. Quasi experiment is done at several classes under instructor's allowance. After brief introduction, prior knowledge, awareness, and usage about DMB as well as other digital instruments is asked and their similarities and perceived characteristics are measured. And then, two kinds of manipulated color-printed AD are distributed and similarities and perceived characteristics for DMB are re-measured. Finally purchase intension, AD attitude, manipulation check, and demographic variables are asked. Subjects are given small gift for participation. Stimuli are color-printed advertising. Their actual size is A4 and made after several pre-test from AD professionals and students. As results, consumers are segmented into two subgroups based on their perceptions of DMB. Similarity measure between DMB and cellular phone and similarity measure between DMB and TV are used to classify consumers. If subject whose first measure is less than the second measure, she is classified into segment A and segment A is characterized as they perceive DMB like TV. Otherwise, they are classified as segment B, who perceives DMB like cellular phone. Discriminant analysis on these groups with their characteristics of usage and attitude shows that Segment A knows much about DMB and uses a lot of digital instrument. Segment B, who thinks DMB as cellular phone doesn't know well about DMB and not familiar with other digital instruments. So, consumers with higher knowledge perceive DMB similar to TV because launching DMB advertising lead consumer think DMB as TV. Consumers with less interest on digital products don't know well about DMB AD and then think DMB as cellular phone. In order to investigate perceptions of DMB as well as other digital instruments, we apply Proxscal analysis, Multidimensional Scaling technique at SPSS statistical package. At first step, subjects are presented 21 pairs of 7 digital instruments and evaluate similarity judgments on 7 point scale. And for each segment, their similarity judgments are averaged and similarity matrix is made. Secondly, Proxscal analysis of segment A and B are done. At third stage, get similarity judgment between DMB and other digital instruments after AD exposure. Lastly, similarity judgments of group A-1, A-2, B-1, and B-2 are named as 'after DMB' and put them into matrix made at the first stage. Then apply Proxscal analysis on these matrixes and check the positional difference of DMB and after DMB. The results show that map of segment A, who perceives DMB similar as TV, shows that DMB position closer to TV than to Cellular phone as expected. Map of segment B, who perceive DMB similar as cellular phone shows that DMB position closer to Cellular phone than to TV as expected. Stress value and R-square is acceptable. And, change results after stimuli, manipulated Advertising show that AD makes DMB perception bent toward Cellular phone when Cellular phone-like AD is exposed, and that DMB positioning move towards Car-TV which is more personalized one when TV-like AD is exposed. It is true for both segment, A and B, consistently. Furthermore, the paper apply correspondence analysis to the same data and find almost the same results. The paper answers two main research questions. The first one is that perception about a new product is made mainly from prior experience. And the second one is that AD is effective in changing and enforcing perception. In addition to above, we extend perception change to purchase intention. Purchase intention is high when AD enforces original perception. AD that shows DMB like TV makes worst intention. This paper has limitations and issues to be pursed in near future. Methodologically, current methodology can't provide statistical test on the perceptual change, since classical MDS models, like Proxscal and correspondence analysis are not probability models. So, a new probability MDS model for testing hypothesis about configuration needs to be developed. Next, advertising message needs to be developed more rigorously from theoretical and managerial perspective. Also experimental procedure could be improved for more realistic data collection. For example, web-based experiment and real product stimuli and multimedia presentation could be employed. Or, one can display products together in simulated shop. In addition, demand and social desirability threats of internal validity could influence on the results. In order to handle the threats, results of the model-intended advertising and other "pseudo" advertising could be compared. Furthermore, one can try various level of innovativeness in order to check whether it make any different results (cf. Moon 2006). In addition, if one can create hypothetical product that is really innovative and new for research, it helps to make a vacant impression status and then to study how to form impression in more rigorous way.

조경설계 스튜디오 교육에 대한 학생들의 인식 (Students’ Perception of Landscape Design Studio Education)

  • 본 연구는 조경설계 수업 전반에 대한 학생들의 인식을 조사하고, 설계수업 개선을 위한 방향을 도출하고자하였다. 본 연구는 점차로 대학교육이 절대적인 지식을 전달하는 실증주의적 배경으로부터 학생들 스스로가 지식을 구축해가는 구성주의적 교육방법으로 진화해야 한다는 가정을 둔다. 학생들이 설계수업을 어떻게 경험하고, 느끼고, 이해하고, 평가하고 있는지를 이해하는 것은 이러한 구성주의 철학과 관점을 바탕으로 설계수업을 개선하기 위한 첫 번째 단계이다. 본 연구에서는 설계 스튜디오 교육에 대한 이론적 연구로 교육철학의 변화, 스튜디오 수업의 기원과 변화, 건축분야의 설계 교육의 변화, 그리고 조경교육에 있어서 설계교육에 대한 논의를 고찰하였다. 이를 바탕으로 네 개 대학의 학부생을 대상으로 실시한 설문조사의 내용을 분석하였다. 그 결과, 설계수업은 학생들이 조경설계가로서의 진로를 결정하는데 긍정적 혹은 부정적 영향을 행사하는 것으로 나타났다. 절반 정도의 학생들은 설계수업에 대해 불만을 표시하였으며, 상당한 심적 부담감을 느끼는 것으로 나타났다. 특히 설계과정의 초기단계와 개념을 구체화하는 단계에서 가장 많은 스트레스를 받는 것으로 분석되었고, 진로에 대한 유보적인 집단이 설계수업에 대한 심적 부담감이 가장 큰 것으로 나타났다. 학생들은 스스로의 설계능력에 대해 부정적으로 평가하고 있었으며, 성적이 학생들의 설계능력을 잘 반영해준다고 강하게 믿지 않는 것으로 나타나, 보다 투명한 평가체계에 대한 고민이 이어져야함을 시사한다.

장애아동가족의 스트레스가 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향 - 가족탄력성 조절효과 중심으로 - (The Influence of Stress in Families of Children with Disabilities upon Problem-solving Ability - Centering on the Buffering Effect of Family Resilience -)

  • 본 연구는 장애아동가족의 스트레스가 문제해결능력에 미치는 영향에 대해 가족탄력성의 조절효과를 알아보고자 하였다. 연구대상자는 총 546명으로 특수학교에 재학 중인 유치원, 초 중 고등학교의 부모를 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하였다. 수집된 자료는 조사대상자의 스트레스, 문제해결능력, 가족탄력성의 특성을 알아보기 위해 기술적 분석과 상관관계, 그리고 조절 효과를 검증하기 위해 위계적 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 장애아동가족의 스트레스, 문제해결능력, 가족탄력성 간의 유의한 상관관계가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 장애아동가족의 스트레스와 문제해결능력의 관계에서 가족탄력성의 조절효과가 확인되었다. 즉, 가족탄력성의 신념체계와 의사소통과정은 스트레스와 문제해결능력에서 조절효과가 있는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이는 가족탄력성이 높을수록 스트레스는 낮아지고 문제해결능력은 높아진다는 것을 의미한다고 볼 수 있다. 따라서 장애아동가족이 스트레스를 낮추고 문제해결능력을 향상시킬 수 있도록 학교현장 및 지역사회에서는 장애아동가족의 가족탄력성을 높일 수 있는 가족상담 및 부모상담, 가족탄력성 프로그램의 개발 및 지원이 필요하다고 본다.

조직지원인식이 내재적 직무동기에 미치는 영향 : 일-가정 갈등 및 일-가정 균형의 인과관계 효과 검증 (Effect of Organizational Support Perception on Intrinsic Job Motivation : Verification of the Causal Effects of Work-Family Conflict and Work-Family Balance)

  • 본 연구는 의료기관에 종사하는 근로자들의 조직지원인식이 내재적 직무동기에 미치는 영향 관계를 분석하고, 이 과정에서 일-가정 갈등 및 일-가정 균형요인의 인과관계에 대한 유의성 여부도 확인해보고자 한다. 설문지를 통한 실증분석 결과를 살펴보면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 조직지원인식은 내재적 직무동기 뿐만 아니라 일-가정 균형에 유의적인 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었고, 일-가정 균형은 내재적 직무동기에 유의적인 양(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 조직지원인식은 일-가정 갈등에 유의적인 음(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 확인되었으나, 일-가정 갈등은 내재적 직무동기에 유의적인 영향력이 없는 것으로 확인되었다. 셋째, 의료기관 종사자들의 직무스트레스를 줄이기 위해서는 직무강도를 줄이고 능력에 적합한 업무량을 부여하며, 인력운영 및 업무효율성을 제고하기 위해 직무교육과 적재적소의 인력배치가 필요하다. 넷째, 긍정적인 조직지원인식과 내재적 직무동기 향상을 위해서는 현 직장에 대한 애착심을 높일 수 있고 다양한 유인체계로 조직의 문제를 자신의 문제로 인식할 수 있도록 지원 및 제도적 장치를 마련하여 장기근속을 유도하여야 한다. 본 연구의 한계점 및 향후 연구 방향은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전국의 의료기관 종사자들을 지역별, 성별, 의료기관별, 학업별, 소득별 등으로 분류하여 확장된 분석을 실시하면 더 가치있는 결과를 얻을 수 있을 뿐만 아니라 의료서비스 품질에 대한 평가도 가능할 것으로 사료된다. 둘째, 의료기관 종사자들이 속한 병원의 환경 불확실성이나 경쟁 정도에 따라 직장에서의 일과 개인적인 삶의 균형 지원제도에 대한 영향력이 종업원마다 미치는 정도가 다를 수 있으므로 이를 반영할 필요가 있다. 셋째, 조직지원인식은 조직문화와 조직형태 그리고 조직규모 및 업무특성, 근무연수, 근무유형 등에 따라 다르게 인식될 것이므로 이를 반영할 필요가 있다. 넷째, 최근 정부의 의료기관 정책에 대한 변화와 글로벌 경영환경에 발맞추어 병원들의 조직구조, 직무설계, 조직지원 방식, 동기부여 접근방식, 인사고과의 평가 방법 등 다양한 신 인사관리 기법들을 설문지에 추가하여 분석하는 것이 필요하다. 또한 최근 및 가까운 미래의 의료 트렌드를 반영해서 분석하는 것도 중요하리라 사료된다.
