  • The active filter of current injection type is the device which eliminates the harmonics in ac line by injecting the harmonic compensating current into the ac side. And its harmonic reduction performance is entirely dependent on the control scheme of the current-fed inverter and the harmonic compensating current becomes the PWM wave by the inverter. This PWM compensating current can be determined by selecting the switching function properly which eliminates the harmonics up to any order with using no independent sources. The new injection current model is derived by the proposed method which is called the optimized injection method. The overall characteristics of the proposed method are investigated through digital computation and the feasibility is proved with experimental results obtained from the Z-80 microcomputer control of the active filter.

  • We present a device model for organic light emitting diodes(OLEDs) which includes charge injection, transport, recombination, and space charge effects in the organic materials. The model can describe both injection limited and space charge limited current flow and the transition between them. Calculated device current, light output, and quantum and power efficiency are presented for different cases of material and device parameters and demonstrate the improvements in device performance in bilayer devices. These results are interpreted using the calculated spatial variation of the electric field, charge density and recombination rate density in the device. We find that efficient OLEDs are possible for a proper choice of organic materials and contact parameters.

  • AC to DC converter that consists of relatively simple diode rectifier devices has been widely used in the field of the electric propulsion system. Also, since this rectifier includes large harmonics in the input current, a variety of researches have been developed to reduce the harmonics. The proposed method of this paper is to reduce the harmonics included in the input current of rectifiers and propulsion motor by injecting the output current of diode rectifier into the input of them. In addition, the proposed method ensures electrical safety through the respective isolation of the injection current, the source, and the loads using the Wye-Delta insulating transformer applied in current injection device that is installed in the input circuit of rectifiers and propulsion motor. The proposed method is simulated by applying to the electric propulsion ship that is currently operating. We confirm the validity of the proposed method compared with conventional power conversion system.

  • Enhancement of efficiency and luminance of organic light-emitting diodes was investigated by the introduction of a lithium carbonate ($Li_2CO_3$) electron-injection layer. Electron-injection layer is used in organic light-emitting diodes to inject electrons efficiently between a cathode and an organic layer. A device structure of ITO/TPD (40 nm)/$Alq_3$ (60 nm)/$Li_2CO_3$ (x nm)/Al (100 nm) was manufactured by thermal evaporation, where the thickness of $Li_2CO_3$ layer was varied from 0 to 3.3 nm. Current density-luminance-voltage characteristics of the device were measured and analyzed. When the thickness of $Li_2CO_3$ layer is 0.7 nm, the current efficiency and luminance of the device at 8.0 V are improved by a factor of about 18 and 3,000 compared to the ones without the $Li_2CO_3$ layer, respectively. The enhancement of efficiency and luminance of the device with an insertion of $Li_2CO_3$ electron-injection layer is thought to be due to the lowering of an electron barrier height at the interface region between the cathode and the emissive layer. This is judged from an analysis of current density-voltage characteristics with a Fowler-Nordheim tunneling conduction mechanism model. In a study of lifetime of the device that depends on the thickness of $Li_2CO_3$ layer, the optimum thickness of $Li_2CO_3$ layer was obtained to be 1.1 nm. It is thought that an improvement in the lifetime is due to the prevention of moisture and oxygen by $Li_2CO_3$ layer. Thus, from the efficiency and lifetime of the device, we have obtained the optimum thickness of $Li_2CO_3$ layer to be about 1.0 nm.

  • The theoretical current density equations for organic semiconductors was derived according to the internal carrier emission equation based on the diffusion model at the Schottky barrier contact and the mobility equation based on the field dependence model, the so-called "Poole-Frenkel mobility model." The electric field becomes constant because of the absence of a space charge effect in the case of a higher injection barrier height and a lower sample thickness, but there is distribution in the electric field because of the space charge effect in the case of a lower injection barrier height and a higher sample thickness. The transition between the injection- and bulk-limited currents was presented according to the Schottky barrier height and the sample thickness change.

  • In this paper. we give pressure stimulation into organic ultra thin films and detected the induced displacement current proper ties, and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition. In processing of a device manufacture. And electroluminescence(EL) from conjugated polymers has recently received great attention because polymer light-emitting diodes(LEDs) clealy have potential for applications such as large-area displays. The operation of polymer LEDs is based on double injection of electrons and holes from the elextrodes. followed by formation of excitons whose radiative decay results in light emission at wavelength characteristic to the material. In this paper, we fabricated the single layer EL device using $Alq_3$ as emitting material. According as turn on voltage could know about 5.5V in voltage-current characteristics and voltage rise, current could see that increase as non-linear, Current and ruminance can see that express similar relativity in voltage, and could know that ruminance is expressing current relativity.

  • Hole injection characteristics have been investigated with various metal anodes such as Ni, Pt, Cu, and AI for the top emission polymer light emitting diodes (PLEDs). Devices were composed of metal anode, Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) doped with polystyrene sultponated acid (PEDT:PSS), poly [2-methoxy-5-(2-ethylhexyoxy)-1,4-phenylene-vinylene] (MEH-PPV) and Al cathode. The hole injection from ITO anode has been also investigated for the comparison. The I-V characteristics of the PLEDs with different metal anodes were measured. The work function of the anode is strongly related to the hole injection of the device. The current density of the device with Ni anode with higher work function was higher than that of the device with ITO or AI anode at the same operating voltage.

  • We have investigated the effects of hole-injection buffer layer in organic light-emitting diodes using poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene):poly(stylenesulfonate)(PEDOT:PSS) in a device structure of $ITO/PEDOT:PSS/TPD/Alq_{3}/cathode$. Polymer PEDOT:PSS buffer layer was made by spin casting method. Current-voltage, luminance-voltage characteristics and efficiency of device were measured at room temperature with a variation of cathode materials; Al, LiF/Al, LiAl, and Ca/Al. The device with LiF/Al cathode shows an improvement of external quantum efficiency approximately by a factor of ten compared to that of Al cathode only device. Our observation shows that cathode is important in improving the efficiency of the organic light-emitting diodes.
