  • This paper presents a new two-terminal numerical algorithm for fault location estimation and for faults recognition using the synchronized phasor in time-domain. The proposed algorithm is also based on the synchronized voltage and current phasor measured from the PMUs(Phasor Measurement Units) installed at both ends of the transmission lines. Also the arc voltage wave shape is modeled numerically on the basis of a great number of arc voltage records obtained by transient recorder. From the calculated arc voltage amplitude it can make a decision whether the fault is permanent or transient. In this paper the algorithm is given and estimated using DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) and the LES(Least Error Squares Method). The algorithm uses a very short data window and enables fast fault detection and classification for real-time transmission line protection. To test the validity of the proposed algorithm, the Electro-Magnetic Transient Program(EMTP/ATP) and MATLAB is used.

  • During faults, the voltage and current signals available to the relay are affected by the decaying dc component and harmonics. In order to make appropriate and accurate decisions, most of the relaying algorithms require the fundamental frequency phasor information that is immune to decaying dc effect and harmonics. The conventional Fourier ph as or estimation algorithm is affected by the presence of decaying-exponential transients in the fault signal. This paper presents a modified Fourier algorithm, which effectively eliminates the decaying dc component and the harmonics present in the fault signal. The decaying dc parameters are estimated by means of an out-of-band filtering technique. The decaying dc offset and harmonics are removed by means of a simple computational procedure that involves the design of two sets of Orthogonal digital OFT filters tuned at different frequencies and by creating three off-line look-up tables. The technique was tested for different decay rates of the decaying dc component. It was also compared with the conventional mimic plus the full cycle OFT algorithm. The results indicate that the proposed technique has a faster convergence to the desired value compared to the conventional mimic plus OFT algorithms over a wide range of decay rates. In all cases, the convergence to the desired value was achieved within one cycle of the power system frequency.

  • This paper proposed a novel SIT high frequency resonant inverter having drive signal phase shift control function. Phasor control type inverters using SIT can realize a power conversion on the high switching frequency with low switching loss. Especially, the high output power can be abstained by connecting the output voltage of two unit inverters In serIes. The stability of system using protection circuit for over current and the automatic follow-up control with load variation by PLL is presented. This inverter produce approximately sinusoidal waveform at a high frequency, switching frequency ranging from 180[kHz] to 220[kHz], and is applied to the 2[kW] induction heating. The operating characteristics of this inverter circuit are discussed from a theoretical point of view and compared with experimental results. results.

  • This paper deals with the design of a field oriented control system model for the high performance induction motor using Matlab with Simulink. The proposed control system model, which is not used the speed and flux sensor, contains IM model, Tranformation, Decoupling, FFOC(Field Flux Orientation Controller), Torque calculator and PI Controller to control speed, torque. Results present the stator and rotor flux phasor trajectory, the startup and transient response of speed, torque and stator current with field oriented control and the response to changes in reference speed with no load. This paper shows that the propose control system is more robust than other vector control system, and suggest the enchanced model, using Matlab with Simulink for the high performance in induction motor control.

The proposed algorithm is also based on the synchronized voltage and current phasor measured from the PMUs(Phasor Measurement Units) in the time-domain. This paper has separated from two part of with/without shunt capacitance(short/long distance). Most fault was arc one-ground fault which is 75% over [1]. so most study focused with it. In this paper, the numerical algorithm has calculated to distance for ground fault and line-line fault. In this paper, the algorithm is given with/without shunt capacitance using II parameter line model, simple impedance model and estimated using DFT(Discrete Fourier Transform) and the LES(Least Error Squares Method). • A linear transfer function for the output current control of frequency-controlled resonant inverters is proposed in this paper. The circuit of resonant inverters can be transformed into two coupled circuits through the complex phasor transform. The circuits consist of cross-coupled power sources and passive elements. The circuits are used to induce the state space equation, which is transformed into the $4^{th}$ order cross-coupled transfer function. The $4^{th}$ order cross-coupled transfer function is modeled into a $2^{nd}$ order linear transfer function based on a behavior analysis of the pole and zero locations that facilitate a simple and intuitive linear transfer function. The feasibility and validity of the proposed linear transfer function were verified by simulation and experiment.

  • Protective relay for transformer operates in general by comparing with the differential current and the restraint current. These kinds of currents are changed on magnitude and phasor during the fault according to winding type and vector group. This paper presents the differential and restraint currents and operational principle of differential protective relay for two-winding and three-winding transformer with graphical model. It is developed using MATLAB for an educational purpose on engineer related in power system and protection in university and power utility including large factory.

  • Distance relay identifies the type and location of fault by measuring the transmission line impedance. However any other factors that cause miss calculating the measured impedance, makes the relay detect the fault in incorrect location or do not detect the fault at all. One of the important factors which directly changes the measured impedance by the relay is series capacitive compensation (SCC). Another factor that changes the calculated impedance by distance relay is fault resistance. This paper provides a method based on the combination of distance and differential protection. At first, faulty transmission line is detected according to the current data of buses. After that the fault location is calculated using the proposed algorithm on the transmission line. This algorithm is based on active power calculation of the buses. Fault resistance is calculated from the active powers and its effect will be deducted from calculated impedance by the algorithm. This method measures the voltage across SCC by phasor measurement units (PMUs) and transmits them to the relay location via communication channels. The transmitted signals are utilized to modify the voltage signal which is measured by the relay. Different operating modes of SCC and as well as different faults such as phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground faults are examined by simulations.

  • A new active LED driver with high power factor (PF) and low total harmonic distortion (THD) compatible with a rapid-start ballast is proposed. An LC input filter is attached to the ballast to increase PF and reduce THD. A boost converter is then installed to regulate the LED current, where an unstable operating region has been newly identified. The unstable region is successfully stabilized by feedback control with two zeroes. The extremely high overall system of the 10th order is completely analyzed by the newly introduced phasor transformed circuits in static and dynamic analyses. Although a small DC capacitor is utilized, the flicker percentage of the LED is drastically mitigated to 1% by the fast controller. The proposed LED driver that employs a simple controller with a start-up circuit is verified by extensive experiments whose results are in good agreement with the design.
