The influence of traditional values on the development of fashion in Bali

  • Fashion as a field of cultural studies is a very complex field that is very interesting to discuss, especially in Indonesia as the very rich country in cultures and past traditions. This research will discuss the development of fashion in Bali, one area that is opulent in its cultures. Based on the research conducted by today's fashion development, Bali is still strongly influenced by factors inherited from traditional values that exist in the Balinese culture. This research is conducted by applying the qualitative method with the ethnography approach to unravel any factor in Bali so that it becomes the foundation and triggers the rapid development of fashion by still maintaining the values of the tradition. Considering that the values of tradition as a whole have a good impact on the preservation of the natural balance and various factors that exist in society, whether these factors still exist in other regions of Indonesia and they are possible to be developed in various regions of Indonesia. So hopefully the development of fashion in Indonesia as a whole can maintain the local content that characterizes the Indonesian Nation and have a positive impact on the balance of nature and also to the community in Indonesia and the world culture.

An Empirical Study on Moderating Effects of Espoused National Cultural Values on Internet Community Stickiness

  • Recently, the concept of web site stickiness receives attention as a measure of strategy to influence user's visit and behavior on web sites. Web site stickiness means site visit frequency and stay duration. This study investigates the moderating effect of espoused national cultural values on Internet community stickiness with the assumption that dimensional values of national culture can be internalized as individual’s espoused values. Espoused values (i.e., espoused national cultural values) are defined as the degree to which an individual embraces the values of his or her national culture. Our findings can be summarized as follows. First, femininity and power distance moderate the influence of user participation on Internet community stickiness. Second, uncertainty avoidance and power distance moderates the effect of social influence on Internet community stickiness. However, femininity and collectivism do not moderate the effect of social influence on Internet community stickiness. Third, uncertainty avoidance, femininity, and collectivism moderate the influence of network effect on Internet community stickiness. Fourth, masculinity does not moderate the influence of usefulness on Internet community stickiness.

  • 본 논문은 바울의 가치전도에 대한 니체의 비판을 목적으로 한다. 이 목적을 달성하기 위해 첫째, 바울과 니체에 앞서 가치전도의 길을 열었던 소크라테스의 경우, 가치전도를 통해 어떻게 그리스문화를 해체하고, 자신의 가치 중심으로 그리스문화를 재편했는지를 살펴본다. 또한 소크라테스의 가치전도 뒤에 숨어있는 '힘에의 의지'를 분석할 것이다. 둘째, 바울의 가치전도의 본질이 무엇인지 살펴볼 것이다. 바울의 경우 가치전도를 통해 좁게는 어떻게 그리스도교의 중심이 될 수 있었고, 더 나아가 유럽문명을 지배하게 되었는지를 추적할 것이다. 이때 우리는 예수의 가르침과 바울의 주장의 차이도 드러낼 것이다. 셋째, 니체의 바울 비판을 살펴볼 것이다. 니체의 바울비판의 핵심은 바울의 가치전도를 힘에의 의지의 관점에서 평가하는 것이다. 또한 우리는 니체의 바울비판의 문제점도 살펴볼 것이다. 넷째, 니체의 가치전도를 살펴볼 것이다. 니체의 가치전도는 소크라테스와 바울의 가치전도를 재전도 시키는 방식으로 성취된다. 그의 가치전도가 두 사람의 가치전도에 비해 삶과 세계의 이해에 어떤 장점이 있는지를 비판적으로 살펴볼 것이다.

Effects of Starter Cultures on Physicochemical Properties of Fermented Sausages

  • Fermented sausages prepared by inoculation with different starter cultures were analyzed for their physicochemical characteristics. Three types of fermented sausages were processed separately, without starter culture (control), with a commercial culture mix, and culture mix plus Lactobacillus plantarum (LP). On proximate analysis, two inoculated sausages showed an increase in moisture and fat contents (p<0.05). The inoculated sausages showed lower hardness and gumminess values (p<0.05) than control. The combination of starter culture with LP displayed the lowest chewiness and cohesiveness values and showed a more intensive red color (p<0.05). Two inoculated batches showed significantly lower pH values and water activity than control, in accordance with the increase in lactic acid bacteria (p<0.05). The inoculated sausages reduced the extent of lipid oxidation (p<0.05) and induced an increase in lauric acid, linoleic acid, eicosadienoic acid, and arachidonic acid, as well as they had a higher polyunsaturated fatty acid content and ratio of n-6 and n-3 fatty acids (p<0.05). The addition of LP to the starter culture in a suitable combination resulted in a positive effect on the physicochemical and microbiological attributes of fermented sausages.

병원조직에 있어서 간호사들이 지각하는 조직문화 프로필과 성과와의 관계에 관한 연구 - 병원조직을 대상으로 한 경청가치 모형의 경험적 검증 - (A Study on the Relationships between Cultural Profiles and Performances in Hospital Organizations : An Empirical Test of Competing Values Model on the Korean Hospital Organizations)

  • As the environment related to hospital operation has changed very competitively in recent years, a need to reform the hospital management is ever growing. For that reason, it has become more urgent and strategically important for us to diagnose the organizational culture of the hospitals and to make efforts to change them towards more performance- and customers-oriented one. So far, there have been many studies done on the hospital organizations. However, this research distinctively attempts to base itself on the competing values approach in studying the organizational culture and empirically examine how different profiles of the organizational culture may have an impact on the organizational performances in hospital organizations. The results of this study has showed several interesting findings and posed the discussions to be dealt with. First, most hospitals selected for this research are characterized by the inner-oriented culture with more focused on 'hierarchy' and 'relationship-oriented' culture rather than on 'reform' and 'work-oriented' one. And the strong 'hierarchy-oriented' culture is a very general phenomenon in the sample hospitals. From these findings, we can inference that despite the recent efforts of most Korean hospitals for organizational change and innovation they still have long distance way to go. In addition, another important implications of this research has come from the analysis of the relationships between the cultural profiles and organizational performances. For this purpose, this research has conducted a series of cluster analysis and identified four distinct cultural profiles from the sample organizations. Several major findings are as follows. First, with respect to the dependent variable of 'job satisfaction' perceived by the nurses working in the sample hospitals, we found that the balance of competing organizational values had more positive impact on the job satisfaction. This result confirms the hypothesis of competing values model on the organizational performances. However, such result was not replicated on the other dependent variable, 'patients' satisfaction'. The reasons for these results and other discussions including the limitations of this study are suggested.

소비자의 가치 체계가 추구 의복 이미지와 의복 소비 가치에 미치는 영향 (The Influences of Consumers' Value Systems on Pursued Clothing Images and Consumption Values)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the women consumers' pursued clothing images and consumption values according to the value system. The data was obtained from questionnaires filled out by 305 women living in Seoul and Gyung-gi. For data analysis, factor analysis, cronbach's alpha, ANOVA and cluster analysis were used. The results of this study were as follows: First, value, pursued clothing images and clothing consumption values were consisted of various factors. Second, women's values influenced on the pursued clothing images and clothing consumption values. Third, according to value factors, women classified into four groups, And they showed different pursued clothing images and consumption values. Also they were differentiated with shopping frequency and age. Therefore, value system was the important factor which can suggest the women's pursued clothing images and consumption values and marketer should know the value system of targeting consumers.

  • Numbers of successful companies in the world develop The core values of action in order to produce effective human resource management and organization culture. Core values are belief, and values that are shared by all members to maintain organization. Also, The core values function as to inspire motivation and decision making for organization's identity and assist to settle their own unique culture. Therefore, this study is to figure out the effect of core values to the members of organization and management performance from small and medium company that is comparatively less focused to settle their own core values.

수단-목적 사슬 이론의 래더링 기법을 이용한 한식에 대한 한국인의 가치체계 연구 (Exploring Motivations of Koreans Towards Korean Foods: Application of Means-end Chain Theory Approach)

  • To enrich a country's food culture, it is essential that residents understand and care about that culture. Although various efforts to globalize Korean food have been made outside Korea, the importance of understanding Koreans' perception of and increasing interest in Korean food has been neglected. Thus, this study was conducted to identify the cognitive structures regarding Korean food among 30 Koreans living in metropolitan cities using in-depth laddering interviews based on the means-end chain theory. The most dominant cognitive structures toward Korean food were familiarity (attributes), ease of digestion and health (functional consequences), sense of responsibility and will to live (psychosocial consequences), and family affection and sense of achievement (values). In short, Koreans were found to consume Korean food to achieve perceived high-dimensional values rather than simply for its attributes or benefits. These findings have important implications for future strategies and policies aimed at increasing Korean food consumption by Koreans, as they suggest that underlying and symbolic values rather than the attributes of Korean food are more effective in promoting its consumption. Further studies on understanding perceptions and values using a larger Korean population are needed to preserve and further develop Korean food.

국제비즈니스에서 비교문화 연구의 재검토 (Cross-cultural Studies Revisited in International Business)

  • Growth of researches addressing cross-culture in international business is exponential. This article reviews the extant researches around the national culture and describes the various conceptualization of culture through discussion of some of popular models of national culture. This article presented some of the most important issues in international business surrounding globalization, especially convergence and divergence of cultures and cultural changes. Global rapid changes in international business environment request the reconsideration of the assumption of cultural stability and the simple view of culture, which tends to examine the static influence of a few cultural factors in isolation form other cultural factors and contextual elements. This paper identifies a valid cultural grouping and proposes the following typology of the possible methodologies in international business; Ethnological description, Use of proxies, Direct values inference, and Indirect values inference. Rather than selecting a single methodology, it appears to be more appropriate to use multi-method in the cross-cultural international business research. It has been shown that cultural change is intertwined with socioeconomic-institutional variables, and that these variables may also add to determine culture contemporarily. This paper also explained the dynamics of culture as multi-level, multi-layer constructs. According to this model, we may understand how the dynamic nature of culture conveys the top-down-bottom-up processes where one cultural level affects changes in other level of culture.

Effect of Organizational Culture on Corporate Social Welfare Activities

  • Purpose - Stakeholders play a vital part in the company's CSR activities and they are part of the company's achievement and affect the company's achievement or business objectives. This study aims to add insight into the already existing knowledge how the organizational culture can promote corporate social welfare activities. Research design, Data, and methodology - The current authors obtained text data for the possible practical suggestions which might be used for the creation of coding method. That implies that the present author investigated only trustable textual sources to provide for the possible solutions such as peer-revied sources and published book. Result - Research results indicated that organizational culture promotes corporate social welfare activities by making people know their values and understand how they come about. Not every community knows what its members want and how to achieve its needs. Sometimes, a community can obtain the values and principles of an organization and incorporate them into community values. Conclusion - Executive leadership and customers are part of society. Any strategy that influences their operation and works ethic influences the contact of the community. This research found methods vital in setting up an excellent culture that enhances profitability and the corporate social welfare activities through motivation and communication.
