  • This work aimed to evaluate the influence of culture conditions on laccase production in the co-culture of wood-rotting fungus with Trichoderma sp. The effects of infection extent, infection time, and culture filtrate of Trichoderma sp. on the laccase production by wood-rotting fungus in co-culture were examined. T. rubrum LKY-7 and T. longibrachiatum were selected as fungi which are effective in co-culture for laccase production. A significant increase in laccase activity was observed when T. rubrum LKY-7 was co-cultured with T. longibrachiatum in glucose-peptone liquid medium, yielding an increase of more than 5 times in laccase activity, as compared with control. Laccase production by T. rubrum LKY-7 during co-culturing was significantly influenced by the infection extent and the infection time of T. longibrachiatum. Maximal laccase activity was obtained when T. rubrum LKY-7 culture was infected by T. longibrachiatum after 3 days of cultivation at an inoculum size ratio of 0.5 to 1. The addition of culture filtrate or autoclaved mycelium of T. longibrachiatum to T. rubrum LKY-7 culture did not significantly enhance laccase production by T. rubrum LKY-7 as compared with control (mono cultures of T. rubrum LKY-7).

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to report the results of culture test at the time of removal of metal devices used for management of ankle fractures and for analysis of contributing factors. Materials and Methods: We reviewed medical records of 132 patients with lower tibia and ankle fracture who had their metal devices removed during the period from January 2010 to February 2014. Patients with clinical signs of infection were excluded. Culture test was performed by taking the granulation tissue around the metal device at the time of removal. We divided the subjects into two groups, culture positive and negative. We then performed a retrospective review of each medical record of multiple factors that might contribute to the culture results, including laboratory results, medical history, material and size of metal device, indwelling period, and whether or not it was open injury. Results: Among 132 cases, six were culture positive. Enterococcus was detected in two cases and the others were Staphylococcus. No significant difference in medical history of patients and laboratory results, including C-reactive protein level, was observed between the culture positive and negative group. Culture positive rate was 5.4% in titanium and 3.9% in stainless steel. In terms of metal size, culture positive rate was 5.1% in small plates, 6.7% in large plates, and culture negative in intramedullary nails. The average indwelling period of metal device was 61.5 weeks in the culture positive group, and 68.6 weeks in the negative group. Nine cases were open fractures and all were in the culture negative group. Conclusion: Whether or not the culture result was positive, there were no meaningful contributing factors. • Globalization, conversions, and OSMU (One Source Multi Use) in modern cultural industry is expanding fast, and global competition is soaring with a changing environment today. In fact, the development of one nation depends on its cultural creativity. Yet, there is an increasing need for a connection between space and culture since globalization homogenizes a nation's unique cultural identity and provides low level of utilization in digital cultural contents in terms of saving, conserving and maintaining data. In order to invigorate the cultural industry, there must be some information that provides public culture contents, which they can be freely searched, displayed, and re-produced. Ultimately, these public culture contents should be able to provide Culture Space. This text discusses how individuals produce the Culture Space, which provides digital information of time and space, from a relationship between culture and space. It also introduces the public Culture Contents service framework in order to provide culture information and combined Culture Contents.

  • Korea has a dark age in terms of culture in the last 20th century. Korea had been struggling between the Great Powers of the world in the imperialism and had sacrifice to keep our own culture itself. Japanese imperialist's a invasion, culture liquidation by Japan, Independence from Japan, Korean war and Influence by US are major bitter historical affair after close of Chosun Dynasty in the process of modernization. Therefore Korea couldn't stay in the center of world cultural core parts and was degraded as cultural consumption country which was provided oversea culture by other countries. Then Korea couldn't develop our unique traditional idea and culture. In the meantime there are both extreme phenomena; one is expulsion of other cultures absolutely and the other is only following western culture unconditionally like trimming policy in the end of colony age. These discreet and unfiltered western culture had been influenced Korea culture over the wide range strongly and resulted in cultural colony situation to produce western imitation culture without philosophy and traditional spirit. Even though Korea has met opportunity in the culture, we called "Han Trend", no formation of own culture is main reason for psychological panic. Korea furniture design is one of parts of lost of tradition culture and typical parts in reproducing western imitation culture. As a result furniture industry's major reason for loss value as exporting industry compared to other industries result in most of the furniture products without our unique identity. This situation become more deepen unfortunately. This report would like to suggest the direction of design with global competition capability and cultural identity to boost Korean furniture design industry by comparing, analyzing and speculating between design of Chosun dynasty and philosophy of modernism in western.
