  • Purpose: This study aimed to identify the factors influencing positive subjective health awareness of middle school-age multicultural adolescents in Korea. Methods: This study used data from the fourth to sixth waves of the Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study conducted by the National Youth Policy Institute. In this study, a panel logit model analysis was performed using the Eviews 8.0 program (p<.050). Results: Socioeconomic status (r=.02, t=2.13, p=.033), body satisfaction (r=.71, t=1.97, p=.048), and depression (r=-.74, t=2.35, p=.018) influenced positive subjective health awareness in multicultural adolescents. When multicultural characteristics were entered into a statistical model with environmental and personal characteristics, multicultural characteristics did not have a significant influence on positive subjective health awareness. Conclusion: Environmental, personal, and multicultural characteristics were related to positive subjective health awareness in multicultural adolescents; thus, an integrated approach considering those variables is recommended. Nursing interventions and educational programs are needed to improve the psychological status of multicultural adolescents and reduce prejudice about them. In addition, nurses need to be sensitive to multicultural characteristics and the developmental characteristics of multicultural adolescents.

These two countries are fast developing and looks promising in terms of economic power but lack the green marketing consciousness compared to other well developed countries. Many measures are being taken by various industries for the promotion of green awareness in these countries. The two countries are fast developing in the area of green marketing. Green marketing should improve its methods utilizing the cultural differences that is evident from previous research. In the near future, more active green marketing targeting and informing consumers of environmental benefits will be needed by taking ethnicity into consideration for further heightening of overall environmental awareness and initiative.

  • The present study proposes a model for literature-based instruction within the context of a fashion design curriculum at a Korean university. The fashion design market continues to grow. The fashion design market now requires more cultural-bound strategies and efficient communication skills. The literature provides authentic resources and is highly relevant to the development of students' culture awareness as well as language awareness. Alice's Adventures in Wonderland written by Lewis Carroll contains various cultural contexts of the Victorian Era. The text provides explicit knowledge of the era depicted in both illustrations and satire languages. This study instructs students to analyze and interpret texts and illustrations so that they can engage critically and analytically in reading text to increase culture awareness and language awareness. The integration of literature and fashion design can provide students an opportunity to explore language choice and acquire refined knowledge of the target culture. Along with the text, illustrations in the literature provoke student's imaginative and creative thinking skills. Students can think and discuss many issues that deal with Victorian values and reinforce creative thinking skills. In the final stage, students can design fashion inspired by Victorian values and present their own designs using the acquired languages. This eventually leads students to adapt to a new notion for the fashion market and become competent communicators in the fashion world.

  • This research purposed to verify the effects of children's peer attachment, community spirit, and multi-cultural acceptability on their adaptation to school. Also, I verified the difference of school life adaptation according to the degrees of peer communication, trust, alienation, community spirit, and multi-cultural acceptability. This research utilized Korean Children and Adolescent Panel Survey data to get more comprehensive and objective research result. As a result, the children who had higher peer attachment relationships (with more peer communication and better trust), higher community spirit, and higher level of multi-cultural awareness and acceptability adapted to school better. In particular, peer attachment had the highest effect on the children's school adaptation, community spirit next, followed by multi-cultural acceptability. Therefore, children's education needs to enhance their intimacy with peer groups, compliance with basic norms in school communities, and arouse rightful multi-cultural awareness in order to help them adapt to school better.

  • The value of culture receives the attention of the world in order to solve urban problems and revitalize cities. Cultural city policies are implemented in Korea and EU to revitalize cities by utilizing cultural values. Although the cultural city policy is effective for urban regeneration, it has not been verified whether it has a positive effect in terms of urban identity and customer-based city brand. This study investigated whether cultural and artistic infrastructure and cultural artistry, which are resources of a cultural city, have a positive effect on urban identity, and whether urban identity affects the brand recognition and the perceived quality of a city. For this study, questionnaires were collected from 208 people residing in Seoul, and empirical analysis was conducted on 206 copies of them, excluding 2 copies of insincere answers. The infrastructure and cultural artistry of cultural and artistic resources showed significant results in the positive relationship between the cultural specificity of urban identity, social system and growth potential. Cultural specificity of urban identity also showed a significant positive effect on city brand equity. In the case of the social system and growth potential of urban identity, there was a significant positive effect on perceived quality, but insignificant results were found in the relationship with brand awareness. Through the results of this study, practical implications can be drawn for cultural city policy implementation and city brand management.

  • Many Korean EFL (English as a Foreign Language) students do not have sufficient opportunity to develop cultural knowledge and information in their classrooms. EFL teachers also tend to ignore the teaching of culture. Even though culture is taught, it simply tends to deliver "fact-only" information from the viewpoint of a "tourist level rather than cultural awareness by comparing native with target cultural references. Teaching target cultural knowledge and information should be delivered within the native cultural frame, and teaching of culture must be an integral part of teaching and learning English. The research methodology was quantitative. Quantitative data was gathered from 83 Korean EFL teachers and 286 EFL students by questionnaire. Findings indicated that three of these independent variables (cultural inequality, English-only instruction, and Unoism) were significantly and inversely related to integration of culture.

  • Libraries have recently sought to diversify their roles to meet the changing needs of local residents, while faithfully playing the library's original roles. The creation of a complex cultural space and the provision of services based on it are one of the ways to expand its role. In this study, a surveyed and analyzed the awareness of the complex cultural space of the library and the preference and awareness of the program operated in the complex cultural space by conducting a survey on the users of the library currently operating the complex cultural space. As a result, first, it was found that they preferred information space, education space, and rest space in space preference. On the other hand, community space and experience space showed low preference. Second, they prefer educational programs, exhibition programs, and performance programs that utilize complex cultural spaces, but experience programs and community programs have low preference. Therefore, it is necessary to operate the program by providing exhibitions and performance spaces while providing information and education spaces to users. The librarian should also promote the fact that library can be only the space of information and education, but also the space where culture, healing, experience and communication take place. In addition, libraries should strive to improve user awareness of library space.

Methods: Cultural nursing competence was analyzed using Rodgers' evolutionary concept development method. A literature search using the keywords "cultural nursing competence", "intercultural nursing competence", "cultural nursing", "cultural health nursing", and "cultural competence" was conducted in PubMed, CINAHL, ERIC, and RISS on material published before 2015. Database and bibliographic searches yielded 35 records. Results: Cultural nursing competence comprised cognitive, affective, and behavioral domains. The critical attributes of the concept were sensitivity, equality, and activity. The analysis identified the following dimensions: awareness, openness, and coherence. The consequences of cultural nursing competence were personal satisfaction and social justice. The definition contained competence on both an individual and social level.
