The purpose of this study is to investigate characteristics of hydromorpological structures that affect landscape preference and visual characteristics on the sections of the designated streams where have dynamic ecological characteristics. We evaluated the ecological status of the streams utilizing LAWA to assess hydromorpological structures of streams. We also investigated preference and visual characteristics of stream landscapes through Semantic Differential Scale(SD scale). The differences of visual images according to the characteristics of hydromorpological structures in the sites were analyzed by descriptive statistics, One-way ANOVA, and t-test. As a result, this study showed that sections represented as "good" ecological status are shown to be harmonious, beautiful, natural, and clean comparing to sections represented as "poor" ecological status. The hydromorpological structures that have significant impacts on the visual characteristics are considered as riparian vegetation, cross-sectional shape, and the artificial structures. Results of this study can help guide the stream restoration of the damaged stream to improving ecological function and positive landscape.

There is a lack of survey standard for cross-to-nature small stream. In this research, we analyzed cross sectional survey data of Sanggachun stream, calculated variant quantity of soil, and suggested a survey interval. Descriptive analysis of cross sectional survey data shows the trend of stabilization; mean interval of survey is 14.91m(min: 7.0m, max: 39m), mean cross sectional variances are $0.82m^2$(min: $-3.80m^2$, max: $8.11m^2$) in 2004, $0.24m^2$ (min: $-5.25m^2$, max: $8.55m^2$) in 2005. Calculating results of variance quantity based on data of 65 cross sections show similar trends in 15m, 30m, 45m, 60m but different with results of 75m, 90m with Post-Hoc Test in statistical verification. We suggested standard cross sectional survey length of cross section for natural style small stream as 50m based on fitting results of standard variation of erosion and cumulation quantity by survey interval.

The objective of this study was to develop the simple method to estimate ungauged river section for flood stage analysis. Damage prediction should be prioritized using hydrological modeling to reduce flood risk. Mostly, the geographical data using hydrological modeling depends on national river cross-section survey. However because of the lack of measured data, it is difficult to apply to many local streams or small watersheds. For this reason, this study suggest the method to estimate unguaged river cross-section. Simple regression equations were derived and used to estimate river cross-section by analyzing the correlation between the river cross-sectional characteristics (width, height and area). The estimated cross-sections were used to simulate flood level by HEC-RAS (Hydrologic Engineering Center's River Analysis System). The applicability of this method was verified by comparing simulated flood level between measured and estimated cross-section. The water surface elevation of the flood stage analysis was 6.56-7.24 m, 5.33-5.95 m and 6.12-6.75 m for measured cross section, for estimated cross section and for estimated cross section based on DEM elevation, respectively. Further study should consider other factors for more accurate flood stage analysis. This study might be used one of the guidelines to estimate ungauged river section for flood stage analysis.

A two-dimensional cross-section analysis program based on the finite element method has been developed for composite blades with solid, thin-walled and compound cross-sections. The weighted-modulus method is introduced to determine the laminated composite material properties. The shear center and the torsion constant for any given section are calculated according to the Trefftz' definition and the St. Venant torsion theory, respectively. The singular value problem of cross-section stiffness properties faced during the section analysis has been solved by performing an eigenvalue analysis to remove the rigid body mode. Numerical results showing the accuracy of the program obtained for stiffness, offset and inertia properties are compared in this analysis. The current analysis results are validated with those obtained by commercial software and published data available in the literature and a good correlation has generally been achieved through a series of validation study.

Chinhae Bay, included small ports, is the region which the red tide phenomenon is occurred frequently in summer season. Field sampling of 4 cross-sections in the bay resulted in detailed informations on cross-sectional velocity distributions, salt concentrations and discharge during one consecutive tidal cycle in summer season, 1983. High velocity cores reoccur two times a semi-diurnal tidal cycle at the same cross-sectional location, lower layer, in Kadok Channel during the spring tide. The tidal exchange ratio was estimated by Eulerian method. The range of exchange ratios in central Kadok Channel are 9.3-17% at the spring tide and 16.9-21.8% at the neap tide. On the other hand, its range in Masan bay-mouth is 8.7% at the spring tide and 2.0% neap tide, respectively.
With an aim of considering the warping restraint effect, the results of the comparative study for several cases on the correction of the warping functions for the theoretical analysis of composite thin-walled beams with chord wise asymmetric closed cross-sections are presented in this study. To solve this problem, it is necessary to correct the warping function so as to satisfy the warping equilibrium condition like 1) without moving the position of the pole, 2) with only modifying the shape function using the existing pole, and 3) with moving the position of the pole. The cross-sectional characteristics of the cases were compared with each other. Finally, the cases were compared in order to correct the warping functions. The case 2) was observed to be more speedy and simple in computation compared to others.

The purpose of this study is to examine morphometric characteristics in a channel bend reach. The new shape factor is suggested that channel deformation rate of cross section (${\Delta}A_s$) showed the variation of concentrated location of force due to the current and the variation of erosional section in alluvial channel. In the downstream direction the meaning of decreasing "${\Delta}A_s$" is the stability of channel bed. This study was analyzed morphological characteristics of cross section-width of channel ($W_s$), width to the thalweg ($W_{th}$), maximum depth ($D_{th}$)-on the Guem River, and typical cross sections in channel bend were proposed. The channel migration rate (M) for the study river was represented that the zones of curvature ratio (R/W) with 2~4 were larger 12% than other zones.
Recently a limited section of trackbed with ballast at KTX railway were reported to have settled down and led to problems such as reduced speed and passenger discomfort. Therefore, an urgent remedy for the settled trackbed is required to recover normal operation of KTX trains. In this paper, a new technique is proposed to visualize the elastic modulus of cross sections at railway trackbeds under ballast for practical identification of potential settlement. The proposed technique is based on ICSW technique, enabling use of impact source and overcoming inherent limitations of CSW method. To verify validity and feasibility of the proposed method, the method was employed to construct cross-sectional images of elastic modulus of two railway trackbeds and compared with other tests such as SASW, PBT, DCP and portable FWD tests.
Morphometrical data for diploid and induced triploid cherry salmon, Oncorhynchus masou were analyzed prior to the spawning season to compare their commercial values. The following traits were measured with the diploids and induced triploids : ungutted and gutted body weight; body length; dressing percentage; condition factor; gonad weight and gonad index; belly thickness; viscera weight; viscera index; body circumference at the pelvic, dorsal and anal fins; area of the cross sections at the pelvic and dorsal fins; two belly thickness traits measured on each cross section; total height, height and width of each cross section; three body shape traits; and nine cross section shape traits. Body length and body weight of diploids were larger than those of induced triploids and dressing percentage, gonad weight, gonad index, viscera index, and liver index were also larger in diploids. However, induced triploids showed higher values in one belly thickness trait and some section shapes than diploids. Differences in body traits were due to the sterility of induced triploids. Therefore, induced triploid cherry salmon appears to have greater potentials for the commercial values than their diploids.
DICOM(Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) imaging plays a significant role in the diagnosis and treatment of the human body, and design modeling is a technology of planning shapes in three dimensions according to the purpose. In this study, we converge these two technologies to observe the relationships of the cross-section, volume, and surface area to the morphological changes of the external ear canal. The experiment applied medical imaging technologies to acquire sections of the human body to create and divide centerlines using 3D shapes extracted from 19 external ear canals by applying stereolithography and 3-matic program. The results showed that the cross-sectional structure of the external ear canal had various shapes, such as oval (38.5%), semicircular (28.2%), mixed (17.9%), square (10.2%), and wrinkled (5.1%). In addition, the cross-sectional area of each phase increased as the length of the external ear canal increased, and the volume and surface area decreased towards the direction of the eardrum. However, the surface area reduction rate was relatively low. This indicates that the structure becomes irregular towards the direction of the eardrum.
