  • Ajax based on Java Script receives attention as an alternative to ActiveX technology. Most portal sites in korea show a tendency to reopen existing services by combining the technology, because it supports most web browsers, and has the advantages of such a brilliant interface, excellent speed, and traffic reduction through asynchronous interaction. This paper modeled and implemented a multilingual meta-search service using the Ajax and open APIs provided by international famous sites. First, a Korean query is translated into one of the language of 54 countries around the world by Google translation API, and then the translated result is used to search the information of the social web sites such as Flickr, Youtube, Daum, and Naver. Searched results are displayed fast by dynamic loading of portion of the screen using Ajax. Our system can reduce server traffic and per-packet communications charges by preventing redundant transmission of unnecessary information.

  • Motif which is a recurrent feature shared by a significant segments from the proteins belonging to different families can be used to predict functional or structural properties of the protein, or to describe features common to biologically related proteins. Although there are many existed motif databases, they are unstandardized and built up by different methods. so it is difficult to get enough motif information when researches use motif databases for classification, prediction, etc. Using logical integration of biological based on cross-references between these databases is the common solution for information tracking through www. However, the problem such as the motif resource tracking method for making a united motif information page emerges from cross-reference. In this paper we propose the motif resource tracking method based on the existed motif databases for easy and comfortable interface better than in the case of using each motif database. The result which is given by this method is the review of necessary information about any motif in PROSITE database.

  • The most widely used information searching method in the current internet environment is the keyword-based one, which has certain limitations in terms of precision and recall. Most major internet portals provide directory-based searching as a means to complement these limitations. However, that they adopt different classification schemes brings significant inconvenience to the users, and it consequently suggests a need to develop mapping gateway to provide cross-portal, or cross-directory information searching. In this context, this study attempts to develop a prototype system of intermediary gateway for integrated search, using the directory services of three major portals, Naver, Yahoo and Empas, and test its performance.

  • Xanthine Oxidase is an enzyme, which oxidizes hypoxanthine to xanthine, and xanthine to uric acid. It is widely distributed throughout various organs including the liver, gut, lung, kidney, heart, brain and plasma. It is involved in gout pathogenesis. In this study, we have performed Comparative Molecular Field Analysis (CoMFA) on a series of 2-(indol-5-yl) thiazole derivatives as xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitors to identify the structural variations with their inhibitory activities. Ligand based CoMFA models were generated based on atom-by-atom matching alignment. In atom-by-atom matching, the bioactive conformation of highly active molecule 11 was generated using systematic search. Compounds were aligned using the bioactive conformation and it is used for model generation. Different CoMFA models were generated using different alignments and the best model yielded a cross-validated $q^2$ of 0.698 with five components and non-cross-validated correlation coefficient ($r^2$) of 0.992 with Fisher value as 236.431, and an estimated standard error of 0.068. The predictive ability of the best CoMFA models was found to be $r^2_{pred}$0.653. The CoMFA study revealed that the $R_3$ position of the structure is important in influencing the biological activity of the inhibitors. Electro positive groups and bulkier substituents in this position enhance the biological activity.

  • In this paper, we propose a system that starts with the searching result of user's query and continuously offers new keywords related to the query. The primary purpose of the proposed system is to help users find information that the users cannot explain clearly. The proposed system obtains useful information by connecting different information sources, represents the information under an integrated schema, and offers a cross searching environment. In addition, it presents a visualized diagram that shows relations between keywords so that users can easily find the desired information. Therefore users can find information easily in an envirionment that is not limited to a certain site.

  • The growth of mobile commerce (m-commerce) has been accelerated around the world. Why do e-retailers have to put a great deal of effort for the distribution of their mobile apps? The literature has paid little attention to the influence of the introduction of an e-commerce app on shopping behaviors of consumers. By analyzing the dataset of 2,342 users in Korea, this study aims to broaden our understanding of mobile shopping app usage across competing e-retailers and different channels. We found that a user's prior usage of a specific e-commerce mobile app increases her subsequent usage of its website through a mobile web browser. Thus, mobile apps do not cannibalize the mobile web channel, and there could be a complementary relationship. We also found that a user's usage of competitors' apps is positively associated with her subsequent usage of a specific e-commerce app. Because many consumers search products and compare prices across multiple e-retailers, having a mobile app helps an e-retailer be exposed to more potential consumers. This study is among the first to study the role of mobile apps in e-commerce by showing the dynamics of cross-channel and cross-vendor usage by a user.

  • A 1kW-class horizontal axis wind turbine (HAWT) rotor blade is taken into account to investigate elastic characteristics in 2-D. The elastic blade field is composed of symmetric cross-ply laminated composite material. Blade element momentum theory is applied to obtain the boundary conditions pressuring the blade, and the plane stress elasticity problem is formulated in terms of two displacement parameters with mixed boundary conditions. For the elastic characteristics a fair of differential equations are derived based on the elastic theory. The domain is divided by triangular and rectangular elements due to the complexity of the blade configuration, and a finite element method is developed for the governing equations to search approximate solutions. The results describe that the elastic behavior is deeply influenced by the layered angle of the middle laminate and the stability of the blade can be improved by controlling the layered angle of laminates, which can be evaluated by the mathematical approach.

  • The objective of this study is the development of size discrete optimum design algorithm which is based on the GAs(genetic algorithms). The algorithm can perform size discrete optimum designs of space trusses. The developed algorithm was implemented in a computer program. For the optimum design, the objective function is the weight of space trusses and the constraints are limite state design codes(1998) and displacements. The basic search method for the optimum design is the GAs. The algorithm is known to be very efficient for the discrete optimization. This study solves the problem by introducing the GAs. The GAs consists of genetic process and evolutionary process. The genetic process selects the next design points based on the survivability of the current design points. The evolutionary process evaluates the survivability of the design points selected from the genetic process. In the genetic process of the simple GAs, there are three basic operators: reproduction, cross-over, and mutation operators. The efficiency and validity of the developed discrete optimum design algorithm was verified by applying GAs to optimum design examples.

  • The various services are required to user in time and space. It is important to provide suitable service to user according to user's circumstance. Therefore it is need to provide services to user through mining by latest information of user activity and service history. In this paper we propose a mining method to search association rule using service history based on spatiotemporal information and service ontology. In this method, we find the associative service pattern using level-cross tree on service ontology. The proposed method is to be a basic research to find the service pattern to provide high quality service to user according to season, location and age under the same context.

  • In this paper an efficient algorithm to estimate the volume and surface area and the reconstruction algorithm for 3-dimensional graphics are presented. The graph theory is used to estimate the optimal quantitative factors. To improve the computing efficiency, the algorithm to get proper contour points is performed by applying several tolerances. The search and the given arc cost is limited according to the change of curvature of the cross-sectional contour. For mathematical model, these algorithms for volume estimation based on polyhedral approximation are applied to the selected optimal surface. The results show that the values of the volume and surface area for tolerances 1.0005, 1.001 and 1.002 approximate to values for tolerances 1.000 resulting in small errors. The reconstructed three-dimensional images are sparse and consist of larger triangular tiles between two cross sections as tolerance is increasing.
