Recently, correlated superposition coding (CSC) has been proposed to implement non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) without successive interference cancellation (SIC), without loss of spectral efficiency, in contrast to conventional independent superposition coding (ISC). However, correlation between signals has reduced the average total allocated power, which results in degraded performance. Thus, in order to avoid the reduction of the average total allocated power owing to correlation between signals, this paper proposes a cross-correlated quadrature amplitude modulation (QAM) NOMA scheme under Rayleigh fading channel surroundings. First, we design the cross-correlated QAM NOMA scheme. Then, simulations demonstrate that for the weaker channel gain's user, the symbol error rate (SER) performance of the proposed cross-correlated QAM NOMA improves largely, whereas for the stronger channel gain's user, the SER performance of the proposed cross-correlated QAM CSM NOMA degrades little, compared to that of the conventional QAM NOMA.
Purpose: This study was to identify activities and related problems on health promotion of public health nurses, and to investigate basic data proposed to revise strategies of Health Promotion Nurse Specialists (HPNS). Method: The subjects of this study were 787 public health nurses sampled by clustering of the entire nation of Korea. Data were collected by focus group studies and cross-sectional survey during April to October of 1999. Results: 13.3% of public health nurses took responsibility for health promotion projects and 45.9% were involved in health promotion work with in home care or other routine activities. Also, the factors public health nurses perceived as barriers to implement activities for health promotion were time limitation, lack of ability for planning projects, insufficient time for specialties, inadequate understanding about health promotion project. Conclusion: According to the study, they need to have special education and further technical support. These results have important implications for the establishment for the role of Health Promotion Nurse Specialist. Also, in developing systems and curriculums for Health Promotion Nurse Specialist, the major factors described above need to be considered carefully.
Objectives: This study is aimed at exploring the temporal developmental relationship of adolescent depression and parents' child-rearing attitudes, and to examine gender differences in the relationship. The middle school students of the 2011-2013 1st Korea Children and Youth Panel data were used for analysis and the sample consisted of 2.073 individuals. Methods: Research questions were answered through the Latent Growth Model and Autoregressive Cross-Lagged Model. Results: As the results of the Latent Growth Model show, adolescent depression declines as time goes by and there are differences in the depression felt by individuals. An autoregressive cross-lagged model and multiple group analysis were executed by gender. The results show significant gender differences in the relationship between depression and Parents' child-rearing attitudes. Parental neglect has shown differences influencing adolescents depression between males and females. However, in case of parental abuse, no differences between males and females were observed. Conclusion: The results of this study imply that the policy on depression should be carefully considered when preparing for interventions targeting adolescents by gender.
Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the mediating effects of health promotion behavior (HPB) in the relationship between anxiety and quality of life (QoL) in young adults living in the post-pandemic era. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive online survey design was utilized. Data on anxiety, QoL, HPB, and demographic characteristics were collected from 213 adults aged 19-35 years in Korea via an online survey in January 2024. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 27.0 and PROCESS MACRO 4.2 software. Results: Strong correlations were observed among anxiety, QoL, and post-pandemic HPB (PP-HPB) in young adults, and anxiety and PP-HPB were identified as significant predictors of QoL. The total effect of anxiety on QoL was significant (B = -1.40, bootstrapped SE = 0.10), with both the direct effect (B = -0.70, bootstrapped SE = 0.09) and the indirect effect (B = -0.70, bootstrapped SE = 0.11) being significant. This suggests that PP-HPB partially mediated the relationship between anxiety and QoL. Conclusion: This study highlights the importance of strengthening HPB with consideration of life changes since the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic to improve QoL among young adults with anxiety.
Purposes: This study was designed to survey current and past health promotion programs in schools and to assess the needs of health promotion programs based upon the opinions of health teachers. Methods: Self-report questionnaire were given to health teachers who attended board meetings in each province or who participated in a qualification training course in Daegu. The questionnaire was developed by authors and revised it based on experts' advice. Results: The most common health promotion programs were sexual education, sexual violence prevention, drug abuse prevention, first aid, dental health. In contrast, many mental health promotion programs, such as suicide prevention, ADHD, and those involving personality disorders were all relatively uncommon. The needs of health promotion programs showed almost same priority with health promotion programs that are being done. Conclusions: The development of effective health promotion programs requires input from students, parents, teachers, experts, and health teachers.
Purpose: The purpose of study was to identify the influence of parenting efficacy on health promotion behavior during early childhood and to provide baseline data for developing health promotion programs. Methods: This study was a cross-sectional survey research study. The participants were 202 parents of children in early childhood selected by convenience sampling. From October 1 to October 8, 2008 data were collected using structured and self-report questionnaires. Results: The mean score for parenting efficacy for these parents was 3.54, and health promotion behavior had a mean score of 3.21. The health promotion behavior was statistically different according to the child's health status, fathers' smoking habits, and mothers' eating habits. Parenting efficacy (17%) was the best predictor, followed by child's health status in early childhood (2%), and mothers' eating habits (1%) which together explained 20% of the variance in health promotion behavior during early childhood. Conclusion: The findings indicate that parenting efficacy of parents is an important factor for enhancing health promotion behavior in early childhood. Therefore, health professionals must establish strategies to improve the parenting efficacy of parents in order to promote health promotion behavior for children in early childhood.

Purpose: To explore the level of health status and health promotion lifestyle, and the group differences in health promotion lifestyle among Seoul citizens who participated in free hypertension screening. Methods: This study was a cross sectional descriptive design. The administered questionnaire included the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP II), perceived health status scale, and demographic questions. Blood pressure was measured by researcher teams. Data were collected from July 2 to 6, 2004 in the waiting area of subway stations 7 in Seoul. The study subjects were 168 adults. Results: The average age of the respondents was 55.45 years and 38.7% of them perceived themselves as healthy, while 44% did not know their own blood pressure. Among the participants, 44.6% were classified as 'prehypertensive', and 36.9% as having high blood pressure. The mean score of health promotion lifestyle was 2.62 and the order of subcategories of health promotion lifestyle was interpersonal relationship, spiritual growth, nutrition, stress management, physical activities, and health responsibilities. The subcategories of health promotion lifestyle differed significantly by age, sex, job, and smoking. Conclusions: It is important to encourage adults to participate actively in health promotion. In addition, health promotion programs should be developed and implemented based on group differences.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of an integrated health promotion program provided by one community health post by comparing this program with more traditional health promotion programs provided by other institutions. Methods: The participants in this study were 110 selected local residents from I city. Of them, 55 residents participated in the integrated health promotion program in the community health post, and the other 55 participated in a program at another institution. SPSS 21.0 was used for descriptive analysis. Result: Scores for program effects, satisfaction level, quality of life related to health and depression were higher for the integrated health promotion program offered by the community health post compared to health promotion programs of the other institution. The differences were statistically significant. Conclusion: The findings of the study indicate that the integrated health promotion program can be helpful for community health posts in being successful in future plans to meet the needs of residents. Use of this program will also contribute to the development of community health posts but sustained research efforts need to be channeled into these programs.
Objectives: We aim to investigate association between health behavior, interpersonal/organizational environment and job stress among government officials. Methods: Through health examination and a survey, this cross sectional study investigated 543 government officials working at Central Government Complex in Seoul, Korea. Health behaviors included alcohol drinking, smoking, moderate exercise and food frequency. Interpersonal environment was measured by health behavior practices of significant others and social support for health promotion. And the measures of organizational environment included facilities for exercise, health related norms and health supportive organizational systems. Job stress was assessed by short version of Korean Occupational Stress Scale(KOSS). Results: The level of job stress among female officials was higher than that of male officials. Multivariate logistic model suggested that higher job stress in male officials was significantly associated with lower position(OR=0.267, p<.01) less grain intake(OR=0.642, p<.05), lower level of social support(OR=0.810, p<.01) and abdominal obesity(OR=2.407, p<.05). On the contrary, female officials' stress level was negatively associated with healthy organizational environment(OR=0.725, p<.05). Conclusions: It is suggested that addressing job stress require tailoring intervention by gender characteristics and integration of interpersonal and organizational level approaches.
