A new spray chrysanthemum(Dendranthema grandiflorum) cultivar, "Golden Eye" was developed from a cross between "Rosa" and "Angaesoguk" by selection of seedlings and lines at the Flower Research Institute, Gyeongnam Agricultural Research and Extension Services(ARES) from 2004 to 2008. Its characteristics were investigated three times from 2006 to 2008 under condition of forcing culture in spring and retarding culture in autumn. The natural flowering time of "Golden Eye" was October 23th, and year-round production was possible by day length treatment. This cultivar was yellow in color, single in flower type for the spray type cut flower. Its capitulum was 2.4cm in diameter, and had 23.2 head per stem in autumn. Its ray floret was green central zone. The days to flowering under the short day treatment is about 49 days in spring season, and "Golden Eye" showed the vase life of 25.7 days in autumn. This cultivar was registered for a commercialization in 2008.
A new cultivar 'Daemang' ($Hibiscus$ hybrid 'Daemang') originated from the interspecific cross between $Hibiscus$$sinosyriacus$ 'Seobong' and $Hibiscus$$syriacus$ 'Namwon' to improve the flower quality in 2001. 'Daemang' was preliminarily selected as 'R-143' in 2003 for its stable flower quality with long red eye spot and named in 2006. The tree habit shows vigorous growth and is upright, so it can be used as a specimen tree or street tree. Characteristic tests such as leaf shape, leaf size, flower characteristics, flowering, and capsule size were conducted from 2004 to 2006. The characteristics succeed after grafting. 'Daemang' had pink color flower with red eye spot. The width of flower is 15.2 cm. Petal length and width are 8.0 cm and 6.4 cm, respectively. Leaves are 9.49 cm long and 8.72 cm wide. After the plant characteristics evaluation for 3 years (2004~2006), it was registered as a variety 'Daemang' in 2008.
Neutron radiography has been widely used in many research areas due to its different characteristics from X-rays. Neutron tomography is a powerful tool because it can clearly show the inside of an object that the eye cannot see. However, generally, commercial software is used for the reconstruction of neutron tomography. It means that maintenance costs are incurred and analysis is inefficient in some cases. In this respect, our own image processing code is required to reconstruct neutron images efficiently. In this study, an image processing code is developed for reconstruction of cross-sectional images from neutron radiography taken from the side of the object. Using the developed code, cross-sectional images of the sample are successfully reconstructed.

In this paper, we investigate cross-platform interoperability for natural language processing (NLP) and, in particular, annotation of textual resources, with an eye toward identifying the design elements of annotation models and processes that are particularly problematic for, or amenable to, enabling seamless communication across different platforms. The study is conducted in the context of a specific annotation methodology, namely machine-assisted interactive annotation (also known as human-in-the-loop annotation). This methodology requires the ability to freely combine resources from different document repositories, access a wide array of NLP tools that automatically annotate corpora for various linguistic phenomena, and use a sophisticated annotation editor that enables interactive manual annotation coupled with on-the-fly machine learning. We consider three independently developed platforms, each of which utilizes a different model for representing annotations over text, and each of which performs a different role in the process.

This paper proposes a hand-eye laser range finder (LRF) based welding plane recognition method for autonomous robotic welding. The robot welding is the process of joining a metal piece and the welding plane along the welding path predefined by the shape of the metal piece. Thus, for successful robotic welding, the position and direction of the welding plane should be exactly detected. If the detected position and direction of the plane is not accurate, the autonomous robotic welding should fail. For precise recognition of the welding plane, a line on the plane is detected by the LRF. For obtaining the line on the plane, the Hough transform is applied to the obtained data from the LRF. Since the Hough transform is based on the voting method, the sensor noise can be reduced. Two lines on the plane are obtained before and after rotation of the robot joint, and then the direction of the plane is calculated by the cross product of two direction vectors of two lines. For verifying the feasibility of the proposed method, the simulation with the robot simulator, RoboticsLab developed by Simlab Co. Ltd., is carried out.

Among various wavelength conversion technologies, that using the cross-gain modulation in laser diode makes it possible to deal with the high speed signal quite simply and efficiently. In this paper, presented was the applicability of an improved time-domain large-signal dynamic model as a CAD tool to analyzed the characteristics of SSGDBR(Superstructure Grating Distributed Bragg Reflector) laser diodes used for wavelength converters. Using this model, it was shown that this kind of wavelength converter can provide the widely tunable wavelength conversion of the high speed data above 10 Gbps. We also investigated the effect of input optical power and the bias current on the characteristics of the device such as extinction ration and eye diagram. The modeling results show very similar trend to the experimental reports.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate balance changes in young patients with neck pain by comparing postural sway velocity and velocity moment between young patients with neck pain and healthy subjects. METHODS: The cross-sectional study enrolled fifteen young patients with over 3-month duration of the neck pain and twelve healthy subjects between the ages of 20 and 30 years old. All subjects were measured their postural sway velocity and velocity moment during quiet standing with eyes open and eyes closed conditions. We compared the differences of postural sway velocity and velocity moment between neck pain patients and healthy subjects, and between eye open and eye close. RESULTS: Significant differences were evident in the anteroposterior and mediolateral sway velocity, and velocity moment of center-of-pressure (COP) between patients with neck pain and healthy subjects (p<.05), and in patients with neck pain in the eyes open and eyes closed conditions (p<.05). CONCLUSION: These results indicate that the balance of young patients with neck pain was worse than healthy subjects during quiet standing, and was especially lessened in the absence of vision. The finding may inform management program to decrease the balance deficits in young patients with neck pain.
Purpose: This study was conducted to examine the degree of senile macular degeneration in elders aged 65 or older and identify factors associated with senile macular degeneration in elders within communities. Methods: Participants in this cross-sectional descriptive study were 388 elders without cataract, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. Data were collected through face to face interviews using a questionnaire in an urban area from June 2010 to December 2011. To detect senile macular degeneration, the participants' self-tests were carried out with Amsler grid testing. Stepwise multivariate logistic regression was performed to evaluate the effects of health behavior and knowledge about eye health on senile macular degeneration. Results: The proportion of participants with senile macular degeneration was 11.6%. Factors that significantly increased the risk of senile macular degeneration included eye discomfort and history of ophthalmic examination (p<.05). Factors that significantly decreased the risk of senile macular degeneration included regular change of magnifiers, non-use of magnifiers, and knowledge about preventive effects of non-smoking and antioxidant vitamin intake on senile macular degeneration (p<.05). Conclusion: This study showed that programs for preventing senile macular degeneration were necessary for elders within communities and the results of this study can be used for developing those programs.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the Electromyography (EMG) of the upper limb during reaching tasks according to two heights in the sitting position. Design: Cross sectional design Methods: Fifteen hemiplegia, fifteen elderly, and fifteen healthy subjects have participated in this study. The targets (90% length of the subject's arm) were located at the two heights (the eye and xiphoid process). We have recorded EMG signals of seven upper limb muscles (anterior deltoid (AD), posterior deltoid (PD), pectoralis major (Pec), infraspinatus (Inf), supraspinatus (Sup), biceps brachii (Bi), triceps brachii (Tri)). The dependent variables were movement time(s), modulation ratio, working ratio, and the co-contraction ratio of the hemiplegia, elderly, and healthy at the reaching task. Two-way repeated-measures ANOVA (2-heights) was analyzed with the LSD post hoc test. Results: The study results were as follows: (1) The movement time to the target during reaching movement was significantly longer for the hemiplegia and elderly groups compared to the healthy group. (2) The modulation rate was significantly higher at eye height than the xiphoid height in AD, PD, Pec, Inf, Bi muscles, and the hemiplegia group and elderly group were significantly lower than the healthy group. Additionally, the modulation ratio showed a significant interaction between heights and groups. Conclusions: It is expected that the variables using the muscle contraction characteristics, the evaluation method of this study, can be used as an electromyography-based feedback method that can be objectively evaluated and quantified in clinical practice.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to determine the association between stigmatism and amblyopia. Methods: It was a hospital based, cross-sectional retrospective study conducted in Nepal Eye Hospital. Medical record of amblyopic children aged 13 years or younger from were reviewed. Children with amblyopic eyes due to simple astigmatism were included. Relation between depth of amblyopia with magnitude and types of astigmatism, orientation of axis was determined. Out of 139 amblyopic eyes of 82 children, 93 were simple myopic astigmatism and remaining 42 were simple hyperopic astigmatism. Results: Mean age of patients was 7.38±2.61 years. Visual acuity improved by at least one line in Snellen chart in 4/5th of eyes after astigmatic correction. Moderate amblyopia was found to be present in 45% eyes while severe amblyopia in 16% of eyes. With the rule astigmatism was found to be present in 88% eyes. Mean astigmatism was 2.47±0.98D and majority of eyes (67.7%) had high astigmatism. Depth of amblyopia was not associated with magnitude of astigmatism (p > 0.05) but number of lines improved with astigmatic correction was correlated with the magnitude of astigmatism (p < 0.001). Risk of amblyopia is more in high myopic astigmatism. Conclusion: Presenting age of amblyopic children was late in Nepal. Depth of amblyopia was not associated with magnitude of astigmatism.
