A new nonlocal higher order shear deformation theory (HSDT) is developed for buckling properties of single graphene sheet. The proposed nonlocal HSDT contains a new displacement field which incorporates undetermined integral terms and contains only two variables. The length scale parameter is considered in the present formulation by employing the nonlocal differential constitutive relations of Eringen. Closed-form solutions for critical buckling forces of the graphene sheets are obtained. Nonlocal elasticity theories are used to bring out the small scale influence on the critical buckling force of graphene sheets. Influences of length scale parameter, length, thickness of the graphene sheets and shear deformation on the critical buckling force have been examined.

A new theoretical critical heat flux (CHF) model was developed for the forced convective flow boiling at high pressure, high mass velocity, and low quality. The present model for an intermittent vapor blanket was basically derived from the sublayer dryout theory without including any empirical constant. The vapor blanket velocity was estimated by an axial force balance, and the thickness of vapor blanket was determined by a radial force balance for the Marangoni force and lift force. Based on the comparison of the predicted CHF with the experimental data taken from previous studies, the present CHF model showed satisfactory results with reasonable accuracy.
In order to investigate control factors to critical current density, Ag sheathed Bi2223 superconducting tapes were fabricated using PIT process. Optimizing the reduction ratio of rolling, critical current density 7f rolled Bi2223 tape could be improved with the value of 15,000 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$(77 K, zero field). The correlation between J$\_$c/ and work inhomogeneity was revealed as a dependence of COV of measured oxide layer thickness.
Acoustic emission (AE) sensor was used to evaluate the wear-life of CrN-coated steel disks with 1 $\mu\textrm{m}$ and 4 $\mu\textrm{m}$ coating thickness. The relationship between Af and friction signal from scratch test and sliding test was investigated. The first spatting of CrN film was detected by AR signals in the early stage of coating failures, and overall failures by friction signals. Therefore, the conservative design for coating-life should be done using the results of AE signals. Using the percent contact load, the ratio of sliding normal load to the critical scratch load and the number of cycles to failure was measured to predict the wear-life of CrN film. On the wear-life dia-gram the percent contact loads and the number of cycles to failure showed a good linear relationship on the log coordinate. As the load percentage was decreased, the diagram showed that the wear-limits, at which the coated steels survived more than 35,000 cycles, were about 4∼5% of the critical scratch loads.
Intermediate annealing was carried out during wire drawing for uniform deformation of 500 m class Bi-2223/Ag HTS tapes. Wire drawing force was measured to evaluate the uniformity of wire deformation along the length. To prevent sausage and filament breakage of wire, drawing stress was controlled below 200 MPa by using intermediate annealing process. Thickness and width of the rolled tapes was measured 0.23 mm and 4.1 mm with low deviation $\pm$ 0.08 mm and $\pm$ 0.09 mm, respectively. The critical current of the 500 m tapes was measured 33.7 A $\pm$ 3.7 A by continuous critical current measurement system.
The bending buckling behavior of circular cylindrical shell is studied. The classical analysis by Love type solution and the package program LUSAS for the structural analysis are used to estimate the critical stresses of circular cylindrical shells under axial compression and bending loads. In this paper, the Love type of buckling equation is carefully investigated and numerical results are presented for a wide range of radius-to-thickness (R/t) ratios and length-to-radius (L/R) ratios. These results show that the maximum critical bending stress is about 30~80% greater than the critical compressive stress
In this paper aeroelastic behavior of 3-phase nano-composite beam-plate with double delaminations is investigated. It is tried to study the effect of carbon nano-tubes (CNTs) on critical flutter pressure of reinforced damaged nano-composite structures. In this case, the CNTs are appending to the polymer matrix uniformly. The Eshelby-Mori-Tanaka model is used to obtain the effective material properties of 3-phase nano-composite beam-plate. To investigate the aeroelastic behavior of delaminated beam-plate subjected to supersonic flow, it is assumed that the damaged segments are forced to vibrate together. The boundary conditions and auxiliary conditions at edges of delaminated segments are used to predict critical flutter pressure. The influence of CNTs and different delamination parameters such as delamination length, axial position and its position through thickness are investigated on critical flutter pressure.
In this study, the stability of laminated homogeneous and non-homogeneous orthotropic truncated conical shells with freely supported edges under a uniform hydrostatic pressure is investigated. It is assumed that the composite material is orthotropic and the material properties depend only on the thickness coordinate. The basic relations, the modified Donnell type stability and compatibility equations have been obtained for laminated non-homogeneous orthotropic truncated conical shells. Applying Galerkin method to the foregoing equations, the expression for the critical hydrostatic pressure is obtained. The appropriate formulas for the single-layer and laminated, cylindrical and complete conical shells made of homogeneous and non-homogeneous, orthotropic and isotropic materials are found as a special case. Finally, effects of non-homogeneity, number and ordering of layers and variations of shell characteristics on the critical hydrostatic pressure are investigated.
Vanadium dioxide (VO2) is a well-known material that undergoes insulator-to-metal phase transition near room temperature. Since the conductivity of VO2 changes several orders of magnitude in the terahertz (THz) spectral range during the phase transition, VO2-based active metamaterials have been extensively studied. Experimentally, it is reported that the metal nanostructures on the VO2 thin film lowers the critical temperature significantly compared to the bare film. Here, we theoretically studied such early transition phenomena by developing an analytical model. Unlike experimental work that only measures transmission, we calculate the reflection and absorption and demonstrate that the role of absorption is quite different for bare and patterned samples; the absorption gradually increases for bare film during the phase transition, while an absorption peak is observed at the critical temperature for the metamaterials. In addition, we also discuss the gap width and VO2 thickness effects on the transition temperatures.
This study investigates the influences of porosity on the stability of the orthotropic laminated plates under uniaxial and biaxial loadings based on the hyperbolic shear deformation theory. Three different porosity distribution are considered with three specific functions through the plate thickness. The stability equations of porous orthotropic laminated plates are derived by the virtual work principle. Applying the Galerkin method to partial differential equations, the critical buckling load relation of porous orthotropic laminated plates is obtained. After validating the accuracy of the proposed formulation in accordance with the available literature, a parametric analysis is performed to observe the sensitivity of the critical buckling load to shear deformation, porosity, orthotropy, loading factor, and different geometric properties.
