  • Dredging and reclaiming on coast, harbor construction etc. of when construct, the interest about efficiency and accuracy of sounding by measurement condition very rise. However, there are only a few studies on the accuracy improvement concerning water depth sounding condition. In this study, among the precision decline main causes of sounding, 1 suggested the characteristics of sounding data acquired by echo sounder with increasing of turbidity and the critical turbidity range under a given transducer frequency. For this, I acquired sounding data by inputting turbidity inducer artificially in artificial water tank. And then achieved regression analysis. Conclusion are as following Sounding Capabilities can be divided into three ranges according to the turbidity . normal range, critical range and the range where data can not be obtained by an echo sounder. When the turbidity exceeds $217\~259$ NTU which was considered as critical range, depth sounding was impossible.

  • A lattice model based molecular clusters is presented to improve a classical equation of state(EOS) for volumetric properties in the critical region. The term is based on the two assumptions: (1) The Helmholtz energy is individually divided into classical and long-range density fluctuation contribution (2) All molecules form cluster near the critical region due to long-range density fluctuation. To formulate such molecular cluster, we extended the Veytsman statistics originally developed for the cluster due to hydrogen bonding. The probability function in the statistics is modified to represent the characteristics of long-range density fluctuation vanishing far from critical region. The proposed fluctuation contribution was incorporated into the Sanchez-Lacombe EOS and the combined model with 6 adjustable parameters has been tested against experimental VLE data for pure compounds. The combined model is found to well represent flatten critical isotherm for methane and top of the coexistence curve for the tested components.

The prediction results for caloric data are in good agreement with the experimental data.

  • In this paper an EGD generator of small capacity with the operating gases of $O_2,\;N_2$ and air is made and the electric characteristics in relation to energy conversion range length, corona current and gas pressure are investigated. The results are as follows: 1. There is a critical value in conversion range length for maximum open voltage and the critical value increases with fluid velocity. 2. The open voltage increases approximately linearly with corona current. 3. There is a critical value in the gas pressure for maximum open voltage and this pressure of gas decreases with fluid velocity in constant conversion range length.

  • Water heat transfer experiments were carried out in a uniformly heated annulus with a wide range of pressure conditions. The local heat transfer coefficients for saturated water (low boiling have been measured just before the occurrence of the critical heat flux (CHF) along the length of the heated section. The trends of the measured heat transfer coefficients were quite different from the conventional understanding for the heat transfer of saturated flow boiling. This discrepancy was explained from the nucleate boiling in the liquid film of annular flow under high heat flux conditions. The well-known correlations were compared with the measured heat transfer coefficients. The Shah and Kandlikar correlations gave better prediction than the Chen correlation. However, the modified Chen correlation proposed in the present work showed the best agreement with the present data among correlations examined .

  • We have frequently encountered the rapid changes that prevalent opinion of the social community is toppled by a new and opposite opinion against the pre-exiting one. To understand this interesting process, mean-field model with infinite-interaction range has been mostly considered in previous studies S. A. Marvel et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 110, 118702 (2012). However, the mean-field interaction range is lack of reality in the sense that any individual cannot interact with all of the others in the community. Based on it, in the present work, we consider a simple model of opinion consensus so-called basic model on the low-dimensional lattices (d = 1, 2) with finite interaction range. The model consists of four types of subpopulations with different opinions: A, B, AB, and the zealot of A denoted by $A_c$, following the basic model shown in the work by S. A. Marvel et al.. Comparing with their work, we consider the finite range of the interaction, and particularly reconstruct the lattice structure by adding new links when the two individuals have the distance < ${\sigma}$. We explore how the interaction range ${\sigma}$ affects the opinion consensus process on the reconstructed lattice structure. We find that the critical fraction of population for $A_c$ required for the opinion consensus on A shows different behaviors in the small and large interaction ranges. Especially, the critical fraction for $A_c$ increases with the size of ${\sigma}$ in the region of small interaction range, which is counter-intuitive: When the interaction range is increased, not only the number of nodes affected by $A_c$ but also that affected by B grows, which is believed to cause the increasing behavior of the critical fraction for $A_c$. We also present the difference of dynamic process to the opinion consensus between the regions of small and large interaction ranges.

  • This study presents a prediction methodology of thermodynamic properties by using RK-PR Equation of State in a wide range of temperature and pressure conditions including both sub-critical and super-critical regions, in order to obtain thermophysical properties for hydrocarbon aviation fuels and their products resulting from endothermic reactions. The density and the constant pressure specific heat are predicted in the temperature range from 300 to 1000 K and the pressure from 0.1 to 5.0 MPa, which includes all of the liquid and gas phases and the super-critical region of three representative hydrocarbon fuels, and then compared with those data obtained from the NIST database. Results show that the averaged relative deviations of both predicted density and constant pressure specific heat are below 5% in the specified temperature and pressure conditions, and the major sources of the errors are observed near the saturation line and the critical point of each fuel.

  • The spanwise flow structure around a rigid smooth circular cylinder model in cross-flow has been investigated based on the experimental data obtained from a series of wind tunnel tests. Surface pressures were collected at five spanwise locations along the cylinder over a Reynolds number range of $1.14{\times}15^5$ to $5.85{\times}10^5$, which covered sub-critical, single-bubble and two-bubble regimes in the critical range. Separation angles were deduced from curve fitted to the surface pressure data. In addition, spanwise correlations and power spectra analyses were employed to study the spatial structure of flow. Results at different spanwise locations show that the transition into single-bubble and two-bubble regimes could occur at marginally different Reynolds numbers which expresses the presence of overlap regions in between the single-bubble regime and its former and later regimes. This indicates the existence of three-dimensional flow around the circular cylinder in cross-flow, which is also supported by the observed cell-like surface pressure patterns. Relatively strong spanwise correlation of the flow characteristics is observed before each transition within the critical regime, or formation of first and second separation-bubbles. It is also noted that these organized flow structures might lead to greater overall aerodynamic forces on a circular cylinder in cross-flow within the critical Reynolds number regime.

  • We fabricated the YBCO films on LAO substrate using the TFA-MOD method and evaluated the effects of heat treatment temperature and film thickness on the microstructure, degree of texture, and critical properties. The calcining and firing were peformed at the temperature range of $370^{\circ}C-460^{\circ}C\;and\;750^{\circ}C-800^{\circ}C$, respectively. For the films fired at $775^{\circ}C$ after calcining at $400^{\circ}C-430^{\circ}C$showed highest critical temperature (Tc-onset) of 89.5 K and critical current (Ic) of 40A/cm-width which corresponds to critical current density (Jc) of $1.8MA/cm^2$. The highest critical properties are probably attributed to the formation of purer YBCO phase, stronger biaxial texture, and higher oxygen content, according to the XRD, pole-figure, SEM, Raman analysis. From the multi-coated films, the Ic increased from 39 to 169 A/cm-width as the coating repeated to four times, while the corresponding Jc was measured from once to be in the range of $0.8-1.2MA/cm^2$. Both Ic and Jc degraded as the coating repeated further, indicating that the optimum thickness is in the range of $1.0{\mu}m-1.7{\mu}m$.
