Marine radioactivity monitoring is critical for taking immediate action in case of unexpected nuclear accidents at nuclear facilities located near coastal areas. Especially when the level of contamination is not predictable, mobile monitoring systems will be useful for wide-area ocean radiation survey and for determination of the level of radioactivity. Here, we used a silicon photomultiplier and a high-efficiency GAGG crystal to fabricate a compact, battery-powered gamma spectroscopy that can be used in an ocean environment. The developed spectroscopy has compact dimensions of 6.5 × 6.5× 8 cm3 and weighs 560 g. We used LoRa, a low-power wireless protocol for communication. Successful data transmission was achieved within 1.4 m water depth. The developed gamma spectroscopy was able to detect radioactivity from a 137Cs point source (3.7 kBq) at a distance of 20 cm in water. Moreover, we demonstrated an unmanned radioactivity monitoring system in a real sea by combining unmanned surface vehicle with the developed gamma spectroscopy. A hidden 137Cs source (3.07 MBq) was detected by the unmanned system at a distance of 3 m. After successfully testing the developed mobile spectroscopy in an ocean environment, we believe that our proposed system will be an effective solution for mobile real-time marine radioactivity monitoring.
The effects of the crystallographic orientation and sample thickness on the magnetic levitation forces (F) and trapped magnetic field (B) of single grain YBCO bulk superconductors were examined. Single grain YBCO samples with a (001), (110) or (100) surface were used as the test samples. The samples used for the force-distance (F-d) measurement were cooled at 77 K without a magnetic field (zero field cooling, ZFC), whereas the samples used for the B measurement were cooled under the external magnetic field of a Nd-B-Fe permanent magnet (field cooling, FC). It was found that F and B of the (001) surface were higher than those of the (110) or (100) surface, which is attributed to the higher critical current density ($J_c$) of the (001) surface. For the (001) samples with t=5-18 mm, the maximum magnetic levitation forces ($F_{max}s$) of the ZFC samples were larger than 40 N. About 80% of the applied magnetic field was trapped in the FC samples. However, the F and B decreased rapidly as t decreased below 5 mm. There exists a critical sample thickness (t=5 mm for the experimental condition of this study) for maintaining the large levitation/trapping properties, which is dependent on the material properties and magnitude of the external magnetic fields.

We have synthesized $CaS:Eu^{2+}$ phosphor by using a sealing vessel and evaluated its photoluminescence properties. The method using a sealing vessel is simple and economical in comparison with other methods reported up to date. As an activator concentration was increased from 0.1 mol% to 4 mol%, the main emission wavelength of the phosphor was increased from 642 nm to 651 nm due to the crystal field splitting of 5d levels of $Eu^{2+}$ ion. Although the same amount of $Eu_2O_3$ was used, the concentration of the activator ions, which were reduced from $Eu^{3+}\;to\;Eu^{2+}$ and substituted $Ca^{2+}$ ions, was increased with increase of firing temperature. Therefore, the main emission wavelength was also. shifted from 645 nm to 651 nm with increase of firing temperature from $1100^{\circ}C\;to\;1300^{\circ}C$. The critical distance($R_{c1}=20.65\;{\AA}$) between $Eu^{2+}$ ions calculated from the critical concentration was well matched with that($R_{c2}=19.17\;{\AA}$) calculated from the Dexter formula.

We compared c-axis tunneling characteristics of small stacked intrinsic Josephson junctions prepared on the surface of pristine, I-, and HgI$_2$-intercalated Bi$_2Sr_2CaCu_2O_{8+x}$ (Bi2212) single crystals. The R(T) curves are almost metallic in I-Bi2212 specimens, but semiconducting in HgI$_2$-Bi2212 ones.· The transition temperatures were 82.0 K, 73.0 K, and 76.8 K for pristine Bi2212, I-Bi2212, and HgI2-Bi2212 specimens, respectively, consistent with p-T$_c$ phase diagram. Current-voltage (IV) characteristics of both kinds of specimens show multiple quasiparticle branches with well developed gap features, indicating Josephson coupling is established between neighboring CuO$_2$ planes. The critical current I$_c$ of I-Bi2212 is almost the same as of that of pristine crystals, but I$_c$ is much reduced in Hgl$_2$-Bi2212. In spite of expanded interlayer distances, the interlayer coupling is not significantly affected in I-Bi2212due to holes generated by iodine atoms. The coupling in HgI$_2$-Bi2212 is, however, weakened due to inertness of HgI$_2$ molecules and the expansion of interlayer distance. Relation between the superconducting transition temperature T$_c$ and the critical current I$_c$ seems to contradict Anderson's interlayer-pair-tunneling theory but agree with a modified version of it.

The ecological background of a restoration project is complex and difficult to betermine without experimentation. A useful context for experiments is the well-studied process of natural succession, because the factors that drive or inhibit succession are also at work during reclamation (a form of primary succession) and restoration (which often resembles secondary succession). Using experimental studies on urban wasteland reclamation, we have tested for factors that stimulate or inhibit succession during early phases of woodland development in the Northeastern United states. The emphasis has been on mutualisms (seed dispersal, pollination, and mycorrhizae) and microsite limitations in the recruitment, growth, and reproduction of woody plants. Using plantings of seeds, seedlings, and clusters of reproductively mature plants on abandoned landfills, we have observed that (1) soil microsite deficiencies lead to very poor germination (<0.1$\%$) and seedling survival (<0.01$\%$) of most native species; (2) seed dispersal by birds is a significant and reliable source of woody plant recruitment; however (3) proximity effects are strong, with most (up to 95$\%$) of seed rain falling in the vicinity of planted clusters that are closest to putative seed sources; and (4) remnant natural woodlands are critical components of the recruitment process. To emphasize the last point, in one case, we found that the destruction of approximately 50$\%$ of nearby natural woodland vegetation led to a commensurate decline in seed rain. In another case, we found that the species richness of recruits was strictly limited by the species composition of nearby source plant communities, with no evidence of community enrichment by long distance dispersal over 5 years. We conclude from these results that the size and proximity of remnant natural populations are critical considerations when planning reclamation and restoration programs that rely on natural successional processes.
Solar towers, which often has a large aspect ratio and low fundamental natural frequency, were extremely prone to large amplitude of wind-induced vibrations, especially Vortex-Induced Vibration (VIV). A tiny Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) with conveniently adjustable eddy current damping was specially designed and manufactured for elastic wind tunnel tests of a solar tower. A series of numerical simulations by using the COMSOL software were conducted to determine three key parameters, including the thickness of the back iron plate and the conductive plate (Tb and Tc), the distance between the magnet and the conductive plate (Td). Based on the results of numerical simulations, a tiny TMD was manufactured and its structural parameters were experimentally identified. The optimized values of the tiny TMD can be conveniently realized. The tiny TMD was installed at the top of the elastic test model of a 243-meter-high solar tower, and a series of wind tunnel tests were carried out to examine the effectiveness of the TMD in suppressing wind-induced responses of the test model. The results showed that the wind-induced responses could be obviously reduced by the TMD, especially in the cross-wind direction. The cross-wind RMS and peak responses at the critical wind velocity can be reduced by about 86% and 75%, respectively. However, the maximum reduction of the responses at the design wind velocity is about 45%, obviously less than that at the critical wind velocity.

For a basic engineering education Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method was adopted in order to pursuit the learner acquisition of critical knowledge, problem solving proficiency, and self-directed learning strategies by measurements of various physical and biological units, by calculation of errors in experimental data, by leraning energy conservation law and equation of motion, and, by analysis ability on data patterns through Elliptical Trainer(ET) exercise. The results show the ET may be a good experimental tool for understanding the PBL method. A sample syllabus was provided for one semester use, and by use of data obtained by self-directed and creative learning, the results of three groups for the PBL problems proposed by using ET were (1) the slope of angle was 23.5o in the diagram of energy exhaustion against velocity (GROUP A), (2) the angle range between the maximal and minimal energy exhaustion against weight loss was 15.0o ~ 26.5o (GROUP B), and finally (3) the angle was varied by 51.0o in the diagram of weight loss against distance (GROUP C).
The spatial dose distribution was measured with ionization chamber as preliminary study to evaluate operator dose and to study dose reduction during neuro-interventional procedures. The zone of operators was divided into four area (45, 135, 225, and 315 degree). We supposed that operator exist on the four area and indicated location of critical organs(eyes, breast, gonad). The spatial doses were measured depending on distance( 80, 100, 120, and 140 cm) and location of critical organs. The spatial doses of area of 225 degree were 114.5 mR/h (eyes location), 143.1 mR/h (breast location) and 147 mR/h (gonad location) in 80 cm. When changed location of x-ray generator, spatial dose increased in $18.1{\pm}10.5%$, averagely. We certified spatial dose in the operator locations, Using the results of this study, It is feasible to protect operator from radiation in neuro-interventional procedures.
Parody, which is the device of humorous Postmodernism artists, has been from the comic immitation with the popular and well-known object. It's expressive techniques are very various such as similarity, transformation, exaggeration, irony, parados, inversion etc. and also it can be used another techniques of designer's will and ability based. Parody's effect consists of satire, mockery, scorn, ridicule, unexpectedness, defamiliarize, playfulness, wit, respect, esteem, wonder and so on of the original. So parody has a critical distance from the original, whichis the object of immitation. Ultimately, the expression of parody can be as extensive as from an ironic and funny inversion still containing the respect for the original to a contemptuous mockery. Nowadays Parodists have a tendency to use parody actively in order to criticize the real world or to meet the past with ironic recontextualize. And parody include the specific characters of postmodern design. So parody is widely known as a effective forms of expression in now-a-days our environment surrounded with the postmodern esthetics, and it's request will be increased rapidly. As a part of art, parody is apt to use widely in Fashion too. And from a historical standpoint it is to reconstitute the past with a critical eye and finally to become a new technique to create the new Fashion style with an intention of extension of design area.

Cellular and castellated steel beams are used to obtain higher stiffness and bending capacity using the same weight of steel. In addition, the beam openings may be used as a pass for different mechanical fixtures such as ducts and pipes. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of different parameters on both elastic and inelastic critical buckling stresses of steel web plates with openings. These parameters are plate aspect ratio; opening shape (circular or rectangular); end distance to the first opening; opening spacing; opening size; plate slenderness ratio; steel grade; and initial web imperfection. The web/flange interaction has been simplified by web edge restraints representing simply supported boundary conditions. A numerical parametric study has been performed through linear and nonlinear finite element (FE) models, where the FE results have been verified against both experimental and numerical results in the literature. The web plates are subject to in-plane linearly varying compression with different loading patterns, ranging from uniform compression to pure bending. A buckling stress modification factor (${\beta}$-factor) has been introduced as a ratio of buckling stress of web plate with openings to buckling stress of the corresponding solid web plate. The variation of ${\beta}$-factor against the aforementioned parameters has been reported. Furthermore, the critical plate slenderness ratio separating elastic buckling and yielding has been identified and discussed for two steel grades of DIN-17100, namely: ST-37/2 and ST-52/3. The FE results revealed that the minimum ${\beta}$-factor is 0.9 for web plates under uniform compression and 0.7 for those under both compression and tension.
