  • This study explored the perception of internet media credibility and influencing factors among college students who are routine users of internet-based media. Media literacy competences are of primary interest among others in that users' media literacy such as information evaluation, critical understanding of media, and information sharing are assumed to be related to media credibility. The results of analysis revealed critical understanding ability to be statistically significant and consistently influencing factor. Users with more critical view on media ownership, represented reality, commercial intention of media seemed less likely to trust internet media. Whereas media use motive for information was found to be a strong predicting factor, motive for pleasure showed no relationship with credibility. Based on the findings, suggestions for new research and limitations of the study were discussed.

  • The Korean films in the 1980s played an important role in impeding the interaction between the media and the audience. In terms of two mechanisms of money and power, the Korean films lost the function of publicity and were forced to disregard positive aspects of culture as a way of understanding society. As a mass medium, the film did not give people the space for critical thought and discussion on social reality. This study tries to discuss how Korean movies in the 1980s functioned as a bulwark of critical debate provided by the interaction between cultural texts and audiences through the notion of the public sphere. For Habermas, the public sphere provides a basis for critical analysis in order to reveal the relationship between media and economic and administrative power in a modern society.

  • This study aims to explore the impressive experiences of university students on YouTube media and to find ways to improve personal media as useful consumer information. 44 university students were selected, and data on the experience of using YouTube were collected and analyzed by applying the critical incident technique. As a result, the positive responses to personal media were derived from 'enhancing C2C information capabilities', 'consumer-centric usability', 'attractive information creators', 'a sense of the sameness', and 'fresh and entertaining information'. Negative responses were derived from 'spreading of harmful information', 'distrust in information creators', 'inducing excessive advertising and impulse buying', 'media addiction' and 'relative deprivation'. In addition, improvement of the personal media has been suggested. This study has differentiation and significance as a qualitative data for understanding consumer's perception and experience of personal media.

The subjects of this study consisted of a total of 51 children at age 5-6. The research had been implemented for 8 weeks integrated into daily activities of kindergarten children. Data were collected by interviewing with children using animations, and children-made-cartoons during the pre- and post-tests, and were analyzed quantitatively using rating criteria. The results of this study showed that there were significant differences found in children's abilities to reception, critical thinking, and creativity. This research made a major contribution to provision of a ground for developing an effective media literacy program for young children.

  • Understanding the adhesion behavior and characteristics of toner film is required to achieve image and text printing with high quality resolution. Toner can be considered as a thin film coating on a media such as paper or polymer film. Quantitative measurement of adhesion characteristics of the thin film is important to assess the reliability of the system. In this work the main objective was to investigate the adhesion characteristic between the toner and the media by ramp loading scratch test method. The scratch test may be used to obtain quantitative information about the adhesion of the film to the substrate. In the scratch test a diamond tip was used to scratch the surface of the toner film under an increasing normal load until the toner detached or fractured. The critical load (LC) was obtained from the experimental results. Also, the relationship between the critical load and the adhesive strength of the interface between the substrate and the toner was obtained by measuring the normal and tangential forces during the scratch test. Finally, theoretical analysis of the toner scratch characteristics was performed based on Benjamin and Weaver theory, Plowing model, and Laugier model.

  • The Code of Ethics for Newspaper Advertising in Korea, first implemented in 1976 and subsequently revised in 1976, 1996, and 2021, is a critical regulatory instrument for the country's advertising sector. However, the specialized domain of "advertising ethics," particularly the "code of advertising ethics," remains under-explored. This research addresses this scholarly gap, providing an empirical analysis of the 2021 amendment's revision trajectory. This study employs a robust methodological approach, integrating expert interviews and small-group AHP-based surveys. This approach allows for a comprehensive understanding of the revision needs, referencing existing ethical codes studies, and comparing similar ethics codes nationally and internationally. The research further investigates key challenges such as personal data protection and copyright issues in the rapidly evolving digital media landscape, while preserving the existing code's inherent value. The findings are expected to significantly contribute to the emerging field of advertising ethics in Korea, offering practical implications for future code revisions.
