Al 7075 합금의 크리이프 파단수명에 관한 연구( I ) (A Study on the Creep Fracture Life of Al 7075 alloy( I ))

  • High temperature tensile tests, steady state creep tests, Internal stress tests and creep rupture tests using A17075 alloy( $T_{6}$ ) were performed over the temperature range of 9$0^{\circ}C$~50$0^{\circ}C$ (0.4 $T_{m}$ ~0.85 $T_{m}$ ) and stress range of 0.64~17.2(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$). The main results obtained in this paper were as follows. (1) The activation energies for yielding at the temperature of 0.4 $T_{m}$ ~0.75 $T_{m}$ were calculated to be 25.7~36.5kcal/mol, which were nearly equal to the activation energies for creep. (2) At around the temperature of 9$0^{\circ}C$~12$0^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 10~17.2(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$), and at around the temperature of 200~41$0^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 1.53~9.55(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$) and again at around the temperature of 470~50$0^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 0.62~l.02(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$), the applied stress dependence of steady state creep rate $n_{measu}$ measured were, respectively, 3.15, 6.62 and 1.1, which were in good agreement the calculated stress dependence $n_{ealeu}$ obtained by the difference of the applied stress dependence of the Internal stress and the ratio of the internal stress to the applied stress. (3) At the temperature range of 0.4~0.43 $T_{m}$ , and at the temperature range of 0.52~0.75 $T_{m}$ and again at the temperature range of 0.82~0.85 $T_{m}$ , the activation energies $Q_{measu}$ obtained by steady state creep rate, respective, 26. 16, 34.9, 36.2 and 36.1kcal/mol, which were in good agreement with those obtained with the activation energies under constant effective stress and the temperature dependence of Internal stress. (4) At the temperature range of the 0.52~0.73 $T_{m}$ and under the stress level of 1.53~9.55(kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$), the stress dependence of rupture life(n’) measured was 6.3~6.6, which was in good agreement with the stress dependence of steady state creep rate(n). And at the same condition the activation energy for rupture( $Q_{f}$ ) measured was 32.0~36.9kca1/mol, which was also in good agreement with the activation energy obtained by steady state creep rate ( $Q_{c}$ ). (5) The rupture life( $t_{f}$ ) might be represented by athermal process attributed to the difference of the applied stress dependence of the internal stress and the ratio of the internal stress to the applied stress, and the thermal activated process attributied to the temperature dependence of the internal stress as $t_{f}$ = A'$\sigma$$_{a}$ {n(1-d $\sigma$$_{i}$ /d $\sigma$$_{a}$ )/(1-$\sigma$$_{i}$ / $\sigma$$_{a}$ )}.exp[{ $Q_{c}$ $^{*}$-( $n_{o}$ R $T^2$/ $E_{(T)}$) (d $E_{(T)}$/dT) - ( $n_{0}$ R $T^2$/ $\sigma$$_{a}$ - $\sigma$$_{i}$ ) (d $\sigma$$_{i}$ /dT)}/RT]. (6) The relationship betwween Larson-Miller rupture parameter and logarithmic stress was linearly decreased, so creep rupture life of Al 7075 alloy seemed to be predicted exactly with Larson-Miller parameter.meter.

AZ3l 마그네슘 합금의 고온 크리이프 변형특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Creep Deformation Characteristic of AZ31 Mg Alloy at High Temperature)

  • The apparent activation energy Qc, the applied stress exponent n, and rupture life have been determined from creep test results of AZ31 Mg alloy over the temperature range of 200$^{\circ}C$ to 300$^{\circ}C$ and the stress range of 23.42 MPa to 93.59 MPa, respectively, in order to investigate the creep behavior. Constant load creep tests were carried out in the equipment including automatic temperature controller with data acquisition computer. At the temperature of $200^{\circ}C{\sim}220^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 62.43~93.59 MPa, and at around the temperature of $280^{\circ}C{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 23.42~39.00 MPa, the creep behavior obeyed a simple power-law relating steady state creep rate to applied stress and the activation energy fur the creep deformation was nearly equal to that of the self diffusion of Mg alloy including aluminum From the above results, at the temperature of $200^{\circ}C{\sim}220^{\circ}C$ the creep deformation for AZ31 Mg alloy seemed to be controlled by dislocation climb but controlled by dislocation glide at $280^{\circ}C{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ .And relationship beween rupture time and stress at around the temperature of $200^{\circ}C{\sim}220^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 62.43~93.59 MPa, and again at around the temperature of $280^{\circ}C{\sim}300^{\circ}C$ and under the stress level of 23.42~39.00 MPa, respectively, appeard as fullow; log$\sigma$=-0.18(T+460)(logtr+21)+5.92, log$\sigma$ = -0.25(T+460)(logtr+21)+8.02 Also relationship beween rupture time and steady state creep rate appears as follow; ln$\dot$ =-0.881ntr-2.45

Ni 합금강의 크리프 거동 (Creep Behaviours of 9% Ni Alloy)

  • 목적: 각종 기계 부품에 주로 사용되는 9% Ni 합금강의 고온 크리프 시험과 그 시편들의 파단면을 관찰하고 Larson-Miller 변수를 적용하여 상수 C값을 결정하여 합금강의 수명을 예측하는데 있다. 방법: 본 시험의 장치는 Andrade와 F. Garofalo 등이 고안한 레버-빔 형으로 제작되었고, 크리프시험 설정조건은 시험편에 미치는 영향을 알아보기 위하여 4가지의 온도조건과 4가지 응력조건을 설정하여 16가지의 조건 하에서 시험을 실시하였다. 결과: 크리프 시험온도가 증가함에 따라 크리프 변형에 따른 응력의 멱지수(n)는 3.97에서 3.55로 점진적으로 감소하는 경향을 보였다. 크리프 변형의 활성화에너지는 응력이 증가함에 따라 90.39에서 83.64 kcal/mol로 점진적으로 감소하였다. Larson-Miller 변수의 계산에 의한 상수 C값은 약 22로 계산되었으며, 사용온도가 제시되면 그 수명을 예측할 수 있다. 파단면의 SEM 측정결과 저온과 고온의 경우는 입내파단에 의한 취성파괴 현상이 나타났으며, 중간정도 온도영역에서는 입계파단에 의한 연성파괴현상이 나타났으며, 일부에서는 딤풀현상도 나타났다. 결론: 9% Ni 합금강에 대한 고온 크리프시험과 그 시편들의 파단면을 관찰한 결과를 제시하여 그 파괴현상을 분석함으로써 설비분야의 부품활용에 대한 기초설계 자료를 구축하여 장비의 수명예측에 유용하게 응용될 수 있다.

Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 미세조직 및 크리프 특성에 미치는 플라즈마 침탄 처리의 영향 (Improvement of Microstructure and Creep Properties of Ti-6Al-4V alloy by Plasma Carburization)

  • In order to improve the wear resistance of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, plasma carburization treatment was newly carried out without consumption of its good specific strength and fatigue life over the temperature. Effect of the plasma carburization was analyzed and compared with the non-treated alloy by microstructural observation, structure characterization and mechanical test. The plasma treated alloy formed a carburized layer of about $150{\mu}m$ in depth from the surface, where a fine and hard particles of TiC and $V_4C_3$ were homogeneously dispersed through the layer. The steady-static creep behaviors of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, using the constant stress creep tester, were investigated over the temperature range of $510{\sim}550^{\circ}C$(0.42~0.44Tm) and the stress range of 200~275 MPa. Stress exponent(n) was decreased from 9.32 of non-treatment specimen to 8.95 of carburized, however, the activation energy(Q) increased from 238 to 250 kJ/mol with the same condition as indicated above. From the above results, it can be concluded that the static creep deformation for Ti-6Al-4V alloy was controlled by the dislocation climb over the ranges of the experimental conditions.

  • Titanium alloy has widely been used as material for glasses frame parts because it has high specific strength. It is also light and harmless to human body. However, we have little design data about the mechanical properties such as the creep behaviors of the alloy. Therefore, in this study, creep tests under four constant stress conditions have been conducted with four different temperature conditions. A series of creep tests had been performed to get the basic design data and life prediction of titanium products and we have gotten the following results. First, the stress exponents decrease as the test temperatures increased. Secondly, the creep activation energy gradually decrease as the stresses became bigger. Thirdly, the constant of Larson-Miller parameter on this alloy was estimated as about 2.5. Finally, the fractographs at the creep rupture showed the ductile fracture due to the intergranullar rupture and some dimples.

플라즈마 침탄 및 CrN 코팅된 Ti-6Al-4V 합금의 구조 및 Creep특성 (Creep Properties of Plasma Carburized and CrN Coated Ti-6Al-4V Alloy)

  • In order to improve the low hardness and low wear resistance of Ti-6Al-4V alloy, plasma carburization treatment and CrN film coating were carried out. Effects of the plasma carburization and CrN coating were analyzed and compared with the non-treated alloy by mechanical and creep tests. After plasma carburization and CrN coating treatments, the carburized layer was about 150 ${\mu}m$ in depth and CrN coated layer was about 7.5 ${\mu}m$ in thickness. Hardness value of about $H_{v}$ 402 of the non-treated alloy was improved to $H_{v}$ 1600 and 1390 by plasma carburization and CrN thin film coating, respectively. Stress exponent(n) was decreased from 9.10 in CrN coating specimen to 8.95 in carburized specimen. However, the activation energy(Q) was increased from 242 to 250 kJ/mol. It can be concluded that the static creep deformation for Ti-6Al-4V alloy is controlled by the dislocation climb over the ranges of the experimental conditions.

  • 본 연구에서는 이들보다 매우 간단한 IS법, 즉 초기 변형률법(ISM: initial strain method)에 의한 크리프 수명예측식을 고안하여, 현재 화력발전용 고압 로터강 에 사용되고 있는 1%Cr-Mo-V강과 발전소 효율향상을 위해 최근 국내최초로 개발된 12% Cr강에 대하여 도출하였고, 이 도출식이 앞에서 언급한 여러 파라메트에 의한 결과와 비교 평가하여 장시간 강도 및 수명예측식으로 사용될 수 있음을 입증하였다.

Gelatin Gel의 점탄성에 관한 연구 (The Viscoelastic Properties of Gelatin Hydrogel)

  • Rheological studies on the gelatin hydrogels were carried out by rheometer. In the temperature range of $32^{\circ}~90{\circ}C$, the viscosities of the gelatin hydrogels were measured. In order to observe the formation of gel structure, the stress-relaxation tests of the creep-curves were investigated. The structure of viscoelastic substance could be considered of a three dimensional crosslinked matrix. As the result viscoelastic coefficients were obtained by Maxwell element, which are correspond to the network structure. From the relationship between the stress-relaxation time and temperature, activation energy correspond to breaking the formation of gels was calculated to be 13.91kcal/mole.

Slip Movement Simulations of Major Faults Under Very Low Strength

  • Through modeling fault network using thin plate finite element technique in the San Andreas Fault system with slip rate over 1mm/year, as well as elevation, heat flow, earthquakes, geodetic data and crustal thickness, we compare the results with velocity boundary conditions of plate based on the NUVEL-1 plate model and the approximation of deformation in the Great Basin region. The frictional and dislocation creep constants of the crust are calculated to reproduce the observed variations in the maximum depth of seismicity which corresponds to the temperature ranging from $350^{\circ}C$ to $410^{\circ}C$. The rheologic constants are defined by the coefficient of friction on faults, and the apparent activation energy for creep in the lower crust. Two parameters above represent systematic variations in three experiments. The pattern of model indicates that the friction coefficient of major faults is 0.17~0.25. we test whether the weakness of faults is uniform or proportional to net slip. The geologic data show a good agreement when fault weakness is a trend of an additional 30% slip dependent weakening of the San Andreas. The results of study suggest that all weakening is slip dependent. The best models can be explained by the available data with RMS mismatch of as little as 3mm/year, so their predictions can be closely related with seismic hazard estimation, at least along faults where no data are available.

초고온가스로용 Alloy 617의 불순물 함유 헬륨/공기 중에서 고온부식 특성 (High Temperature Corrosion of Alloy 617 in Impure Helium and Air for Very High-Temperature Gas Reactor)

  • A very high-temperature gas reactor (VHTR) is one of the next generation nuclear reactors owing to its safety, high energy efficiency, and proliferation-resistance. Heat is transferred from the primary helium loop to the secondary helium loop through an intermediate heat exchanger (IHX). Under VHTR environment Alloy 617 is being considered a candidate Ni-based superalloy for the IHX of a VHTR, owing to its good creep resistance, phase stability and corrosion resistance at high temperature. In this study, high-temperature corrosion tests were carried out at 850 - $950^{\circ}C$ in air and impure helium environments. Alloy 617 specimens showed a parabolic oxidation behavior for all temperatures and environments. The activation energy for oxidation was 154 kJ/mol in helium environment, and 261 kJ/mol in an air environment. The scanning electron microscope (SEM) and energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy (EDS) results revealed that there were a Cr-rich surface oxide layer, Al-rich internal oxides and depletion of grain boundary carbide after corrosion test. The thickness and depths of degraded layers also showed a parabolic relationship with the time. A corrosion rate of $950^{\circ}C$ in impure helium was higher than that in an air environment, caused by difference in the outer oxide morphology.
