  • The brittle nature in most FRP composites is accompanying other forms of energy absorption mechanisms such as fibre-matrix interface debonding and ply delamination. It could play an important role on the energy absorption capability of composite structures. To solve the brittle nature, the adhesion between pines and composites was studied. Thermal treated pines were attached on carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) by epoxy adhesives. To find the optimum condition of thermal treatment for pine, two different thermal treatments at 160 and $200^{\circ}C$ were compared to the neat case. To evaluate mechanical and interfacial properties of pines and pine/CFRP composites, tensile, lap shear and Izod test were carried out. The bonding force of pine grains was measured by tensile test at transverse direction and the elastic wave from fracture of pines was analyzed. The mechanical, interfacial properties and bonding force at $160^{\circ}C$ treated pine were highest due to the reinforced effect of pine. However, excessive thermal treatment resulted in the degradation of hemicellulose and leads to the deterioration in mechanical and interfacial properties.

  • Commonly-used polymers are manufactured as versatile forms. Furthermore, continuous polymer fibers are recently manufactured using nylon or aramid fiber. One of common epoxy was also used to make polymer fibers. Bisphenol-A type was used as base epoxy whereas amine and anhydride were used as hardeners. Epoxy fibers was cured by stepping up the temperature to maintain the shape of epoxy fiber. Surface energy was measured to confirm the degree of interfacial adhesion by modified static contact angle method. After mechanical properties were measured via fiber tensile test, the evaluation of fiber fracture was proceeded. Tensile strength of epoxy fiber using amine type hardener was higher as 138 MPa than anhydride case as 70 MPa. Fractured surface exhibited different failure patterns at the cross-section.

  • A variety of creative convergence education studies have been conducted around the world, but the study of creative convergence education based on problem-oriented learning is insignificant. STEAM education development research for engineering human resources also recognizes important factors like ethics awareness and consideration, cooperation, leadership, and communication skills. This study developed a model of interdisciplinary classes between marketing and commercial English classes as a way to effectively learn to cultivate the creative and fusion talents required by modern society. A model was developed for the process of convergence classes to be developed for evaluation after class by designing courses, selecting subjects, designing classes, drawing questions, and developing problems, as well as for discussion of pre-convergence courses, class performance, and class evaluation. The Mongolian university discussed in this paper plans to introduce a suitable educational environment by developing a problem for interdisciplinary classes in marketing and business English. Based on the need to nurture talent required by the rapidly changing knowledge-based society, Mongolian universities should continue the strategy of fostering creative convergence talent through the convergence of technology. This is because creativity is the most important thing in the current situation.

  • Interfacial adhesion between fiber and resin are related to composites performance, so it is very important to evaluate them accurately. In this study, the interfacial properties of microdroplets under fatigue loading conditions were evaluated. The mechanical properties and interfacial adhesion of epoxy resin with dopamine were studied. Tensile specimens were prepared to evaluate mechanical properties and epoxy microdroplets specimens were used for the evaluation of interfacial adhesion. In addition, in the microdroplet fatigue test, the same diameter of the microdroplet was used and the experiment was performed under the same conditions. As a result, it was confirmed that mechanical and interfacial properties were improved when dopamine was applied to epoxy resin through tensile and microdroplet experiments. It is considered that dopamine improves the degree of curing of the epoxy resin and imparts hydroxyl groups to the epoxy resin to increase the mechanical properties and the interfacial adhesion between the glass fibers.

  • A high-speed traveling-wave photodetector (TWPD) with an InGaAs absorber is designed and realized. The bandwidth of the TWPD is measured using electro-optic sampling techniques. The bandwidth is 410 GHz, which shows that the RC limitation is overcome. While the TWPD shows a low responsivity of 0.06 A/W at 1,550 nm, this value can be improved through further optimization of the structure without a sacrifice in bandwidth.
