썬글라스용 반미러(Half-Mirror) 코팅의 분석과 설계 (Analysis and Design of half-mirror coating for sunglasses)

  • 국내외 썬글라스 반미러 코팅렌즈의 광학적 특성을 파악하기 위해, 분광광도계를 이용하여 반미러 코팅렌즈의 반사율을 측정하였으며, Macleod 프로그램을 이용해 계산한 결과와 비교 분석하였다. 또한 황금 색깔이 나는 TiN을 이용한 반미러 코팅렌즈를 설계하였고, 광학특성을 조사하였다. 반미러 코팅렌즈의 분석결과, 은색 투톤(two tone) 반미러 코팅은 금속 크롬(Cr)을 사용하였으며 경도를 증가시키기 위하여 크롬위에 $SiO_2$(또는 $Al_2O_3$)를 증착하여 사용하였다. 크롬 위에 증착되는 $SiO_2$의 두께는 10nm 정도가 적정한 것으로 판단된다. 칼라 반미러 코팅의 경우 디자인 결과는 각각 다음과 같다 ; blue 계열은 [air|$SiO_2$(66.3)|$TiO_2$(129.0)|$SiO_2$(62.9)|$SiO_2$(26.0)|$TiO_2$(120.3)|$SiO_2$(9.1)|glass]이며, gold 계열은 [air|$SiO_2$(60.6)|$TiO_2$(86.2)|$SiO_2$(13.5)|$TiO_2$(86.8)|$SiO_2$(214.38)|glass]이며, green 계열은 [air|$SiO_2$(74.3)|$TiO_2$(75.8)|$SiO_2$(44.3)|$TiO_2$(11.6)|$SiO_2$(160.8)|$TiO_2$(12.9)|$SiO_2$(183.3)|$TiO_2$(143.8)|glass]이며, silver 계열은 [air|$SiO_2$(21.2)|$TiO_2$(49.7)|$SiO_2$(149.3)|glass]이다. white 반미러 코팅인 경우는 [air|$SiO_2$(17nm)|$TiO_2$(43nm)(또는 $ZrO_2$)|$SiO_2$(87nm) polysiloxane($4.46{\mu}m$)|glass or CR-39]이며, 가시광선 영역(400~700 nm)에서 평균 19%의 반사율을 가지며 흡수가 적기 때문에 약 80%의 투과율을 보이는 white 타입의 반미러가 되게 된다. 황금빛 색깔을 띠는 반미러 코팅렌즈의 설계에 있어서 [air|$SiO_2$(170nm)|TiN(15nm)|glass]가 되면 CIE 좌표값은 거의 [air|Au(150nm)|glass]의 좌표값과 유사해지는 것을 볼 수 있었다.

Plasma nitriding on chromium electrodeposit

  • This paper presents some results of plasma nitriding on hard chromium deposit. The substrates were C45 steel and $30~50{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ of chromium deposit by electroplating was formed. Plasma nitriding was carried out in a plasma nitriding system with $95NH_3{\;}+{\;}SCH_4$ atmosphere at the pressure about 600 Pa and different temperature from $450^{\circ}C{\;}to{\;}720^{\circ}C$ for various time. Optical microscopy and X-ray diffraction were used to evaluate the characteristics of surface nitride layer formed by nitrogen diffusion from plasma atmosphere inward iCr coating and interface carbide layer formed by carbon diffusion from substrate outward Cr coating. The microhardness was measured using microhareness tester at the load of 100 gf. Corrosion resistance was evaluated using the potentiodynamic measurement in 3.5% NaG solution. A saturated calomel electrode (SiCE) was used as the reference electrode. Fig.1 shows the typical microstructures of top surface and cross-section for nitrided and unnitrided samples. Aaer plasma nitriding a sandwich structure was formed consisting of surface nitride layer, center chromium layer and interface carbide layer. The thickness of nitride and carbide layers was increased with the increase of processing temperature and time. Hardness reached about 1000Hv after nitriding while 900Hv for unnitrided hard chromium deposit. X-ray diffraction indicated that surface nitrided layer was a mixture of $Cr_2N$ and CrN at low temperature and erN at high temperature (Fig.2). Anodic polarization curves showed that plasma nitriding can greatly improve the corrosion resistance of chromium e1ectrodeposit. After plasma nitriding, the corrosion potential moved to noble direction and passive current density was lower by 1 to 4 orders of magnitude compared with chromium deposit(Fig.3).

다양한 박막을 증착한 디젤 엔진용 피스톤링과 실린더 블록의 마찰 마멸 및 스커핑 수명 평가 (Friction, Wear and Scuffing Life of Piston Rings With Several Coating for Low Friction Diesel Enging)

  • Wear and scuffing tests were conducted using friction and wear measurement of piston rings and cylinder blocks in low friction diesel engine. The frictional forces, wear amounts and cycles to scuffing in boundary lubricated sliding condition were measured using the reciprocating wear tester. The cylinder blocks were used as reciprocating specimens, and the piston rings with several coatings were used as fixed pin. Several coatings were used such as DLC, TiN, Cr-ceramic and TiAlN in order to improve the tribological characteristics. From the tests wear volume of piston ring surfaces applied various coatings were compared. During the tests coefficients of friction were monitored. Test results showed that DLC coatings showed good tribological properties. TiN and Cr-ceramic coated rings showed good wear resistance properties but produced high friction.

NEW PROGRESS IN TiN-BASED PROTECTIVE COATINGS DEPOSITED BY ARC ION PLATING

  • Titanium nitride and related overlayers produced by arc ion plating (AIP) are applied as commercial coatings in world-wide scale since the middle of 80s. Due to the achievements of low temperature deposition (LTD), they begin now to be used as wear and corrosion-resistant coatings for machine parts, besides applications on cemented carbide and high speed steel cutting tools. On the other side, TiN can be now applied successfully to brass, Al-alloy, ZnAl alloy articles as decorative coating through LTD. Various nitrides, carbonitrides, borides and other refractory compounds, such as (Ti, Al)N, TiCN, CrN, are used as the coatings for special heavy-duty working conditions instead of TiN since 90s. More and more multilayer coatings are applied now substituting single layer ones. Duplex processes are under development.

유도결합플라즈마의 전력이 TiCrN 코팅층에 미치는 영향 (Effects of ICP Power on the Properties of TiCrN Films)

  • In this study, TiCrN films were deposited on STS 316 Land Si (100) wafer by inductively coupled plasma (ICP) assisted D.C. magnetron sputtering. The effect R.F. power for ICP discharge on the mechanical properties of TiCrN films was investigated. XRD, XPS and FE-SEM were used for the structure analysis. Also the Micro-Knoop hardness tester and profilometer were used for measuring hardness of coatings and film stress respectively. As increasing the R.F. power for ICP discharge, thickness of coating was decreased from 1633 nm to 1288 nm but hardness was increased about $Hk_{5g}$ 4200 at 400 W. All of the XRD patterns showed (111), (200) and (220) peaks of TiCrN films. Surface morphology was studied using the profilometer. FE-SEM was used to know morphology and cross-section of the films. Structure of the films was changed dense as increased ICP power.

Industrial application of WC-TiAlN nanocomposite films synthesized by cathodic arc ion plating system on PCB drill

  • Recently TiN, TiAlN, CrN hardcoatings have adapted many industrial application such as die, mold and cutting tools because of good wear resistant and thermal stability. However, in terms of high speed process, general hard coatings have been limited by oxidation and thermal hardness drop. Especially in the case of PCB drill, high speed cutting and without lubricant process condition have not adapted these coatings until now. Therefore more recently, superhard nanocomposite coating which have superhard and good thermal stability have developed. In previous works, WC-TiAlN new nanocomposite film was investigated by cathodic arc ion plating system. Control of AI concentration, WC-TiAlN multi layer composite coating with controlled microstructure was carried out and provides additional enhancement of mechanical properties as well as oxidation resistance at elevated temperature. It is noted that microhardness ofWC-TiA1N multi layer composite coating increased up to 50 Gpa and got thermal stability about $900^{\circ}C$. In this study WC-TiAlN nanocomposite coating was deposited on PCB drill for enhancement of life time. The parameter was A1 concentration and plasma cleaning time for edge sharpness maintaining. The characteristic of WC-TiAlN film formation and wear behaviors are discussed with data from AlES, XRD, EDS and SEM analysis. Through field test, enhancement of life time for PCB drill was measured.

Comparison of HVOF Thermal Spray Coatings of T800 and WC-Co Powders

  • Hard chrome plating has been used in surface hard coating over 50 years both for applying hard coating and re-building of worn components. Hard chrome plating solution and mist pollute environment with very toxic $Cr^{6+}$(hex-Cr) known as carcinogen which causes lung cancer, High velocity oxy-fuel (HVOF) thermal spray coatings of WC base cermet and Co-alloy powders are the most promising candidates for the replacement of the traditional hard chrome plating. Surface properties, wear, and friction behaviors of micron size Co-alloy (T800) and micron size WC-l2Co (WC-Co) have been studied for the application as hard coatings. The temperature dependence of wear and friction behaviors of T800 and WC-Co have been investigated at the temperature of $25^{\circ}C$ and $538^{\circ}C$ for the application to high speed spindle.

  • The application of UHSS sheet is being expanded up to 50% to reduce the weight of automobiles and improve safety. However, due to the high strength and low elongation of the ultra-high tensile strength steel sheet, product defects such as spring back and mold defects such as cracks and chippings also occur. In this study, Pin/Ring on Disc and Spiral wear tests were conducted to evaluate the durability of Ti/Cr-coated molds for forming 1.2GPa grade UHSS sheets. Component analysis and thickness were measured for each coating layer, and hardness and adhesion were investigated to determine mechanical properties. Combining the results of various wear tests, it was found that the TiAlN coating had the best wear and sticking resistance.

금속 임플란트 소재의 내마모성 향상을 위하여 적용되는 질소 이온주입 및 이온도금법의 한계 (Limitation of Nitrogen ion Implantation and Ionplating Techniques Applied for Improvement of Wear Resistance of Metallic Implant Materials)

  • 금속 임플란트 재료들의 마모저항을 향상시키기 위하여 질소 이온주입 및 이온도금 기술을 적용하였다. 질소 이온주입 된 초내식성 스테인리스강(S.S.S)의 마모이온용출 특성을 S.S.S, 316L SS, TiN코팅된 316S SS와 비교 평가하기 위하여 탄소로 원자흡수분광분석기를 이용하여 시편들로부터 마모용출된 Cr과 Ni 이온량을 측정하였다. 또한, 저온아크증착법을 이용하여 TiN, ZrN, TiCN코팅된 Ti(Grade 2)원반의 마모저항을 비교하였고, 질소이온주입 및 질화물 코팅된 표면충의 화학적 조성은 SAES(scanning Auger electron spectroscopy)를 이용하여 분석하였다. 질소 이온주입된 S.S.S 표면으로부터 마모에 의하여 용출된 Cr과 Ni 이온량은 표면처리하지 않은 스테인리스강들에 비하여 크게 감소하였다 그러나 인공고관절에 걸리는 하중조건 하에서 실행된 마모이온용출실험에서 이온에너지 100 KeV로 질소이온 주입된 표면층은 20만회 내에서 쉽게 제거되었다. 질화물 코팅된 Ti 시편들의 마모저항도 크게 향상되었고, 그 마모특성은 코팅층의 화학적 조성에 따라 크게 차이가 났다. 코팅두께 3Um의 코팅시편들 중 TiCN 코팅된 티타늄이 가장 높은 내마모 특성을 보였으나 같은 하중조건 하에서 disk(Ti)-on-disk 마모실험에서 그 질화물 코팅면들의 마모 무게감 소비는 1만회 아래에서 모두 Ti의 마모비와 유사하게 전환되었다. 본 실험으로부터 얻어진 연구결과에 의하면, 100 KeV 질소이온주입 및 두께 3$\mu\textrm{m}$의 길화코팅된 표면층의 경우 표면 경화충의 깊이가 충분치 않아 높은 하중을 받는 임플란트의 마찰부위에 사용하기에는 한계가 있음을 보였다.

툴 표면처리 및 온도가 AZ31 마그네슘 판재의 드로잉성에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Tool Surface Treatment and Temperature on Deep Drawability of AZ31 Magnesium Alloy Sheet)

  • The square cup drawing of magnesium alloy AZ31 $(aluminum\;3\%,\;Zinc\;1\%)$ sheets was studied by experimental approach in various temperatures (200, 250, 300, 350, $400^{\circ}C$) when blank holding force (BHF) was controlled in real-time. And so on, the drawability was measured with the different die and punch coating. The square cup drawing test was performed by three different coated punches (CrN, TiCN, Non-coated). BHF was set about 2.0 KN, forming speed was 50 mm/min, blank thickness were 0.5, 1.0mm and the cup size was 40 mm by 60 mm after forming. The experimental data of square cup drawing test show that the tools coating and temperature were effect on the drawbility.
