  • Background Perineal defects are commonly encountered during the treatment of conditions such as malignancy, infectious disease, and trauma. Covering large defects in the perineal area is challenging due to its complicated anatomy and the need for functional preservation. Methods Fourteen patients who underwent reconstructive surgery with multiple perforator flaps for defects >$100cm^2$ in the perineal area were included in this retrospective cohort study. Characteristics of the perforator flap operation and postoperative outcomes were reviewed. Results Reconstruction was performed using 2 perforator flaps for 13 patients and 3 perforator flaps for 1 patient. Internal pudendal artery perforator flaps were mainly used for covering the defects. The average defect size was $176.3{\pm}61.8cm^2$ and the average size of each flap was $95.7{\pm}31.9cm^2$. Six patients had minor complications, such as wound dehiscence and partial necrosis of the flap margin, which were corrected with simple revision procedures. Conclusions Multiple perforator flaps can be used to achieve successful reconstructions of large perineal defects that are difficult to reconstruct with other coverage methods.

  • The purpose of this research is to draw out the factors affecting the residents' evaluation on valuable animal and vegetation and the naturality of vegetation seen near regional environment. With this purpose, Questionnaire research and vegetation survey focusing on area of types of vegetation and species of big trees were made in 30 points of midstream of Tama River, Tokyo, Japan. The questionnaire research was based on basin environment units in order to be reflective of regional natural environment. The vegetation was classified into 5 types according to its flora and observed the covering area of each points and types through the aerial photograph. In addition, the species of big trees in habitat were listed by the survey. Results as below came out by analyzing the outcome of the questionnaire research and vegetation survey by multiple regression. First, residents are most likely not to distinguish precisely between the quantitative and qualitative aspects of vegetation. Both of the researches are apt to be influenced by quantitative factors of vegetation. Second, residents are assumed to consider forest of big trees, inhabitant of groups of big trees, highly natural.

  • Knowledge about how to stabilize soil structure is essential to conserve soil systems and maintain various biogeochemical processes through soil. In urban area, soil structural systems are degraded with inappropriate management and land use and become vulnerable to erosion. We analyzed the structural changes of surface soils with different land uses, i.e., forests, parks, roadside green area, riparian area, and farmlands (soybean fields), in the Anyang Stream Watershed in order to find the factors influencing the stability of soil structure and the implication for better management of surface soil. Soil organic matter contents of other land use soils were only 18~52% of that in forest soils. Soil organic matter increased the stability of soil aggregates in the order of soybean fields < roadsides < riparian < parks < forests and also reduced soil bulk density (increased porosity). The lowest stability of soybean field soils was attributed to the often disturbance like tillage and it was considered that higher stability of park soils comparing to other land use soils except forests was owing to the covering of soil surface with grass. These results suggest that supply of soil organic matter and protection of soil surface with covering materials are very important to increase porosity and stability of soil structure.

  • In this study the physiological significance of the upper and lower body on thermoregulation and sensation are examined. Experiments were carried out on 4 females in a climatic chamber conditioned at $25\pm1^{circ}C, 50\pm5%$ R.H.. Before the measurements, subjects were exposed to 3 types of enviromental temperature: 1) $25\pm1^{\circ}C$ for 60 min.(ST), 2) $25^{\circ}C$\rightarrow35^{circ}C\rightarrow25^{\circ}C$ for about 40 min.(HT), 3) $25^{\circ}C$\rightarrow15^{circ}C\rightarrow25^{\circ}C$ for about 40 min.(LT) covering the upper body (U) or lower body (L) with garments. 1) $T_{re}$ was significantly higher in L than in U only in 57 condition. $T_{sk}$ and Temp. under the clothing were higher in U than in L in all three conditions. Thermal sensation was warmer in U than in L, and comport sensation was most comfortable in HT condition. 2) When the upper or lower body was covered or exposed, the mean skin temperature of the upper body was higher than that of the lower body. Following covering and uncovering the same area, the changes in skin temperature were greater in the upper body than in lower body, and covering the upper body produced a greater difference of skin temperature between body and lower body than covering the lower body. 3) In all environmental conditions, when the upper body was uncovered, the skin temperatures of the chest, upper arms and forearms dropped to a considerable degree, and when the lower body was uncovered, skin temperatures of the legs showed the same pattern. On the other hand, skin temperature of the thinghs showed only little change in all cases except forehead and back uncovered or covered in two clothing types.

  • High strength concrete is the occurrence of explosive spalling associated with high temperature such as a fire. The spalling causes the sever reduction of the cross sectional area with the exposure of the reinforcing steel, which originates a problem in the structural behaviour. The purpose of this study is to investigate the mechanical properties of lightweight mortar using perlite and polypropylene fiber for fire protection covering material. For this purpose, selected test variables were the ratio of water to cement, the ratio of cement to perlite, contents of polypropylene fiber. As a result of this study, it has been found that addition of perlite and polypropylene fiber to mortar modifies its pore structure and reduces its density. And it has been found that a new lightweight mortar can be used in the fire protection covering material.

  • Yongchonppong is liable to withering of leaf and it is lowering leaf value for the feed. In this respect, covering of the vinylon gauze over the feed has been carried out in the branch rearing system to sustain leaf value as itself. The covering of the vintlon gauze over Yongchonppong marks 7% and 9% increment of cocoon yield in dry season, spring rearing season, as compared to the non-covering of the vinylon gauze over Kaeryangppong and Yongchonppong, respectively. There was no significant differences in cocoon shell percentages of them. In more humid environment than average relative humidity in Korea the rearing results of "Yongchonppong" was improved by covering with vinylon gauze after feeding compared with the non-covered rearing. However, the vinylon guage covering was not effective for improving the rearing results of "Kaeryangppong". No effect of the vinylon gauze covering was seen in the area where it frequently rains and raining season lasts. In case of the non-covering of the vinylon gauze, Yongchonppong reduces repidly in the first three hours of exposure to the air, as compared to Kaeryangppong. The water content reductions rate of Yongchonppong in 6 hours of exposure to the air marks 7% to so when the dry vinylon gauze cover and 17 to 26% when the wet vinylon gauze covers, as compared to 58.8% of it for the noncovering of the vinylon gauze.f the vinylon gauze.

  • The re-analysis on the stable weight of the concrete armor unit (CAU) at the roundhead and the suggestion of the covering range at the roundhead with the increased weight of CAU were conducted. Tetrapods were applied to the tests and the three dimensional hydraulic tests were performed. The test results for the stable weight at the roundhead area were similar to the guides from Korean Design Standard for Harbour and Fishery Port (MOF, 2014) and Coastal Engineering Manual (USACE, 2005). The investigation of covering range at the roundhead of rubble mound structures armoured with Tetrapods was suggested that the length of five times of the design wave height from the tip of the superstructure was needed and appropriate. Both sides of the superstructure should be covered with increasing weighted CAU to satisfy the stability at roundhead area.

  • This article introduces a proposed lesson to help younger or lower level mathematics students conceptualize area. The objective for the proposed lesson was for the student to demonstrate an understanding of the concept of area by identifying the area, in square units, of polygons drawn on computer dot board constructed by computer software, Geometer's Sketchpad. The concept of covering is the key to develop the concept of the area. The article proceeded from rectangular figures, to right-triangular figures, to non-right triangular figures, then to polygons to find the area and develop the formula for the area of the figures. It is meaningful that this kind of materials can be developed within interactive computer environment since students feel successful in loaming and teachers use them directly in their measurement classes.

  • The Herschel Space Observatory is the European Space Agency's state of the art infrared space telescope launched into space on 14 May 2009, covering the wavelength range from 70-700 microns with 3 instruments SPIRE, PACS and HIFI. Large area surveys are being carried out by Herschel in the AKARI legacy fields at the North and South Ecliptic Poles and the AKARI All-Sky Survey provides additional synergy with the largest survey with Herschel, H-ATLAS, covering more than 500 square degrees. This paper reports on some of the early results of these synergies between Herschel and AKARI including the first comparison of the AKARI All-Sky Survey number counts with the deeper Herschel surveys.
