  • Spectroradiometric light transmittance from 300 to 1,100nm in the greenhouse covered with the CEM BIO polyethylene film was greater than that in the greenhouse covered with polyethylene film (control). As a whole, solar radiation transmittance into greenhouse was a half level, due to shades caused by double layer covering, frame and equipment. Net radiation energy emitted throughout surface of the greenhouse covered with CEM BIO polyethylene film was 5,424.5W.m$^{-2}$ , which was lower by 2.9% as compared to that of the greenhouse covered with polyethylene film. Photosynthetically active radiation from 400 to 700nm of the greenhouse covered with CEM BIO polyethylene film was 3,861.2W.m$^{-2}$ , which was higher by 3.8% as compared to hat of the greenhouse covered with polyethylene film. Accumulated minimum air temperature from Oct. 7, 1997 to Oct. 16, 1997 of the greenhouse covered with CEM BIO polyethylene film was 100.5$^{\circ}C$, which was higher by 2.5$^{\circ}C$ as compared to that of the greenhouse covered with polyethylene film. As results, height, stem diameter, leaf count, leaf area, fresh weight and dry weight of green pepper plants and canopy production structure measured at 30 days after transplanting were enhanced. Mean fruit weight n the greenhouse covered with CEM BIO polyethylene film was 11.28 g and 1.25 g greater as compared to that in the greenhouse covered with polyethylene film, due to increased fruit diameter and flesh thickness. Percent marketable fruits produced in the greenhouse covered with CEM BIO polyethylene film were 96.1%, and was greater by 2.7% thant that of the greenhouse covered with polyethylnee film due to decreased infection, sterility, severe curve and twisted fruits. The green pepper yield of the greenhouse covered with CEM BIO polyethylene film from Nov. 19, 1997 to Feb. 3, 1998 was greater by 974 kg per hectare than that of the greenhouse covered with polyethylene film, but the total fruit had no difference.

  • This investigation has been carried out to examine the structure of digestive tract from Korean Leech, Erpobdella lineata, using light and electron microscope. The digestive tract is composed of mouth, pharynx, Oesophagus, six-chambered stomach, three-chambered intestine, rectum and anus. Stomach and intestine have not gastric or intestine ceca and consist of only straight tube. All digestive tracts from pharynx to rectum are covered with simple columnar epithelial cells. While the surfaces of endothelial cell of pharynx and rectum are covered with cuticular layer of about $0.3{\mu}m$ in thickness, stomach and intestine are covered with estimated $0.2-0.3{\mu}m$ and $0.5{\mu}m$ microvilli respectively. Circular folds were found only in first and second chambers of stomach, intestine and rectum, but not in pharynx and the other chambers (third to sixth) of stomach. The granules of $0.3-0.8{\mu}m$ and $0.5-1.0{\mu}m$ in diameter were observed in the cytoplasm of stomach endothelial cell. These granules were demonstrated to contain protein which showed a positive reaction to ninhydrin. It was also found that there are well-developed microvilli in the apical portion of intestine endothelial cell in which endocytosis occurs actively.

  • Concrete placed under hot weather condition suffers from larger slump loss, rapid moisture evaporation due to high air temperature. Proper measures for material, transportation and curing should be taken to prevent the quality deterioration of the concrete under hot weather condition. In Korea, Although the period of hot weather concrete in Korea occupies only 2 months, there are a lot of quality problems including plastic, drying shrinkage and cold joint. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to investigate and compare the temperature history and crack occurrence of the concrete, which was placed in the actual apartment house construction field under hot weather condition, in response to the application of surface covered curing blankets including PE film, single layer clear bubble sheet, white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet. Test results indicated that the application of white colored bubble sheet and aluminum metalized bubble sheet showed most favorable results in terms of reduction in temperature rise and crack occurrence as well as easiness in handling. But, due to light reflection by aluminum metalized bubble sheet, it is believed that white colored bubble sheet is preferable.

  • Experiments were carried out to find the varietal differences in histological structure and outer characteristics, and its relationships between each characters in the internodes of 15 barley varieties (5 covered barley, 5 naked barley and 5 malting barley). The length of 1st-3th internodes from the top was longer in malting barley varieties, covered barley varieties and naked barley varieties in the order, but of 4th-5th internodes was longer in naked barley varieties, covered barley varieties, and malting barley varieties in the order. The diameter of naked barley varieties internodes was much thicker that of malting barley varieties. The thickness of culm wall in 1st-3rd internodes was thicker naked barley varieties, covered barley varieties, and malting barley varieties in sequence and in 4th-5th inter-nodes was covered barley varieties, malting barley varieties, and naked barley varieties in the order. The number of large vascular bundles in covered barley varieties had more than that of naked barley varieties and malting barley varieties in 1st internodes. The size of large vascular bundles in covered barley varieties and naked barley varieties was larger than that of malting barley varieties. The size of large vascular bundles had significant positive correlation with thickness of culm wall and the diameter of internodes. The thickness of culm wall was negatively correlated with the length of internodes and culm, but positively correlated with the diameter of internodes.

  • Blast resistant gates are required to be lightweight and able to mitigate extreme loading effect. This may be achieved through innovative design of a gate and its supporting frame. The first is well covered in literature while the latter is often overlooked. The design of supporting frame depends mainly on the boundary conditions and corresponding reaction forces. The later states the novelty and the aim of this paper, namely, the analysis of reaction forces in supporting structure of rectangular steel gates subjected to "far-field explosions". Flat steel plate was used as simplified gate structure, since the focus was on reaction forces rather than behaviour of gate itself. The analyses include both static and dynamic cases using analytical and numerical methods to emphasize the difference between both approaches, and provide some practical hints for engineers. The comprehensive study of reaction forces presented here, cover four different boundary conditions and three length to width ratios. Moreover, the effect of explosive charge and stand-off distance on reaction forces was also covered. The analyses presented can be used for a future design of a possible "blast absorbing supporting frame" which will increase the absorbing properties of the gate. This in return, may lead to lighter and more operational blast resistant gates.

  • This study was executed to analyze the vegetational landscape structure and administration planning of Younguan Royal Tomb forest by the classification and DCA ordination were applied to the study are in order to classify them into several groups based on environmental variables. Also Younguan Royal Tomb forest comparison of a pair of photographs taken in 1920s and 1990. Sixteen sites were sampled with clumped sampling method in september 1990 and five quadrats were examined in each site. By classification and DCA, the plant community were divided into two groups(A. japonica community, P. densiflora, Quercus acutissima community) by the humus. Pinus densiflora community of actual vegetion covered 15.9%, Alnus japonica 6.5% and Quercus community 65.6% of the total area. And the afforested vegetation of P. koraiensis. P. rigida and Juglans mandshurica covered 13.2%. DCA ordination showed that successional trends of tree species seem to be from P. densiflora, Q. aliena to Q. acutissima in P. densiflora community and from A. japonica community of the upper layer. By the comparison of couple photographs between 1920s and 1990 we can recognize the change of historical landscape composed of P. densiflora community, A. japonaca and those community shall be conserved by the disclimax method, i.e. the broadleaf vegetation in the underlayer in the P. densiflora community should be cleared out. Otherwise the vegetational landscape sructure in Younguan Royal Tomb is successed to progress succession to Q. acutissima landscape.

  • We have demonstrated a fluidic technique for self-assembly of microfabricated parts onto substrate using patterned shapes of magnetic force self-assembled monolayers (SAMs). The metal particles and the array were fabricated using the micromachining technique. The metal particles were in a multilayer structure (Au, Ti, and Ni). Sidewalls of patterned Ni dots on the array were covered by thick negative photoresist (SU-8), and the array was magnetized. The array and the particles were mixed in buffer solution, and were arranged by magnetic force interaction. Binding direction of the metal particle onto Ni dots was controlled by multilayer structure and direction of magnetization. A quarter of total Ni dots were covered by the particles. The binding direction of the particles was controllable, and condition of particles was almost even with the Au surface on top. The particles were successfully arranged on the array.

  • This study was executed to investigate the vegetation structure and to propose the administration planning of the Royal Ancestor's Shrine. Five sites sampled in the study area with the clumped sampling method. Pinus koraiensis community covered 27.3% and Quercus aliena community 61.5% of total forest area when considering the actual vegetation. This area of environmental impact grade 3 and 4 area covered 46.9% and it should be restored. The ecological diversity, i.e. species diversity and evenness, showed low class, and especially site 2 which was controlled the user's after 1985 showed the lowest value. Pinus koraiensis community which is a dominant species now in the study area shall be succeed to Quercus aliena community. Robinia pseudoacacia at the eastern wall shall be excluded step by step and it shall be replaced with native species gradually. Ailanthus altissima, Populus ${\times}$ albaglandulosa and Styrax japonica which had higher selection invaded conspicuously the bare land. As the administration planning of the study area, Pinus koraiensis and Styrax japonica shall be thinned out gradually and it shall be replaced with Quercus aliena and Acer palmatum.
