  • Gas-assisted injection molding is an innovative low-pressure injection molding technique that can provide numerous benefits such as reduced part warpage, excellent surface quality without sink marks, low injection pressure, and greater design flexibility. However, the adoption of gas-assisted injection molding may cause unexpected defects if the gas channel design is not conducted properly. The objective of this paper is to broaden the understanding of gas-assisted injection molding by summarizing the design procedures and experimental results of the gas-assisted injection molding of a 17" flat monitor front cover. The gas channels were designed by using Moldflow(MF/GAS) simulations and a 450 ton injection molding machine with a 5 stage pressure control gas kit was used in the experiments.

  • The major problems of a plastic injection mould can be devided into two kinds, one is in mould another in injected parts. Most of defects of the former comes from mould design, such as, structure and working. The latter are weld line, warpage, sink mark, burning, flow mark, scratching, shading, black hole and so on. Most of problems in injection molding are difficult to find the reason because of complexity. The purpose of this paper is to improve the quality of plastic injection mould and parts with inquiring the counter plan and analizing troubles of the part of Flat TV Front Cover by flow control method and gas-assisted injection moulding. For minimizing defects of the injection moulded parts, computer aided simulation method for injection mould filling was used. Based on these numerical results, the guidelines of mould design and injection processing condition were established. As a result, the improvement of quality, such as minimizing surface defects of injection moulding parts and troubles in mould was achieved.

과대불판 사용 시 이동식부탄연소기 구조에 따른 열영향 연구 (A Study on Thermal Effects for Structure of Portable Butane Gas Stoves using Oversized Grill)

  • 본 연구는 과대불판 사용 사고 예방을 위한 안전기준 도입에 따라 이동식부탄연소기 구조에 따른 열영향을 분석하기 위해 수행하였다. 삼발이 높이가 다른 연소기와 용기 장착부 덮개 안쪽에 방열판을 설치한 연소기를 활용해 불판, 연소기의 용기 장착부 덮개 및 부탄용기의 온도를 측정하였다. 그리고 불판 및 화염의 열영향에 의한 온도 변화 경향을 분석하였다. 본 실험 범위에서 이동식부탄연소기 사용 중 안전장치가 작동하지 않는, 즉 안전하게 이동식부탄연소기를 사용할 수 있는 조건은 불판과 용기 장착부 덮개의 거리가 약 28 mm 이상이라고 파악되었다. 이에 비해 불판과 용기 장착부 덮개의 거리가 현저히 낮으면 불판의 열영향 뿐만 아니라 화염의 열영향이 직접적으로 부탄용기에 줄 수 있어 사고의 위험성이 크다고 판단된다. 또한 용기 장착부 덮개 안쪽에 방열판 설치 시 불판과 화염의 열영향 감소 효과가 있지만 부탄용기 과열에 따른 폭발 사고 위험성이 존재한다고 판단된다.

  • Plastic injection mould have two kinds of trouble, one is in mould another in injection parts. Most of defects of the former take the cause in a design like in structure and working, the later weld line, transforming, sink mark, burning, flow mark, scratching, shading, black hole and so on. Most of problems of the later is difficult for making a clear definitely the reason of defects because of complexible. The purpose of this paper is to improve the quality of plastic injection mould and parts with inquiring the counter plan and rouble of the part of Flat TV Front Cover by flow control method and gas- assisted injection moulding. For minimizing defects from injection moulding parts, this paper was investigated with using computer aided injection mold filling simulations. Based on these numerical results, I established guidelines mould design and injection processing condition. As a results I got the improve of quality, minimizing surface defects moulded parts and troubles in mould.

KALIMER IHTS의 SWR 초기 압력파 거동 분석 (Evaluation of the SWR′s Early Pressure Variations in the KALIMER IHTS)

  • 액체금속로의 소듐-물 반응사고에 따른 압력거동 분석을 위하여 한국원자력연구소 KALIMER 개발팀이 개발한 SPIKE코드의 해석 모형 및 알고리즘을 소개하였으며 검증 계산 결과를 제시하였다. KALIMER IHTS의 소듐-물 반응사고로 인한 계통내 압력 거동을 분석하였다. 소듐-물 반응사고의 초기는 압력파 전달과 질량 전달 영역으로 구성됨을 확인하였다. 압력파 전달 영역에서의 압력 거동은 계통의 설계 특성과 무관하나 질량 전달 영역에서는 Cover gas 체적과 파열판 파열 압력에 크게 의존함을 확인하였다. KALIMER IHTS의 초기 소듐-물반응사고 해석 결과는 적절한 Cover gas체적과 파열판 압력 설정을 통해 압력 진동이 설계 압력 범위로 조절할 수 있음을 확인하였다.

Analysis of land use change for advancing national greenhouse gas inventory using land cover map: focus on Sejong City

  • Land-use change matrix data is important for calculating the LULUCF (land use, land use change and forestry) sector of the national greenhouse gas inventory. In this study, land cover changes in 2004 and 2019 were compared using the Wall-to-Wall technique with a land cover map of Sejong City from the Ministry of Environment. Sejong City was classified into six land use classes according to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) guidelines: Forest land, crop land, grassland, wetland, settlement and other land. The coordinate system of the land cover maps of 2004 and 2019 were harmonized and the land use was reclassified. The results indicate that during the 15 years from 2004 to 2019 forestlands and croplands decreased from 50.4% (234.2 ㎢) and 34.6% (161.0 ㎢) to 43.4% (201.7 ㎢) and 20.7% (96.2 ㎢), respectively, while Settlement and Other land area increased significantly from 8.9% (41.1 ㎢) and 1.4% (6.9 ㎢) to 35.6% (119.0 ㎢) and 6.5% (30.3 ㎢). 79.㎢ of cropland area (96.2 ㎢) in 2019 was maintained as cropland, and 8.8 ㎢, 1.7 ㎢, 0.5 ㎢, 5.4 ㎢, and 0.4 ㎢ were converted from forestland, grassland, wetland, and settlement, respectively. This research, however, is subject to several limitations. The uncertainty of the land use change matrix when using the wall-to-wall technique depends on the accuracy of the utilized land cover map. Also, the land cover maps have different resolutions and different classification criteria for each production period. Despite these limitations, creating a land use change matrix using the Wall-to-Wall technique with a Land cover map has great advantages of saving time and money.

Methane Oxidation in Landfill Cover Soils: A Review

  • Migration of methane ($CH_4$) gas from landfills to the surrounding environment negatively affects both humankind and the environment. It is therefore essential to develop management techniques to reduce $CH_4$ emissions from landfills to minimize global warming and to reduce the human risks associated with $CH_4$ gas migration. Oxidation of $CH_4$ in landfill cover soil is the most important strategy for $CH_4$ emissions mitigation. $CH_4$ oxidation occurs naturally in landfill cover soils due to the abundance of methanotrophic bacteria. However, the activities of these bacteria are influenced by several controlling factors. This study attempts to review the important issues associated with the $CH_4$ oxidation process in landfill cover soils. The $CH_4$ oxidation process is highly sensitive to environmental factors and cover soil properties. The comparison of various biotic system techniques indicated that each technique has unique advantages and disadvantages, and the choice of the best technique for a specific application depends on economic constraints, treatment efficiency and landfill operations.

쓰레기 매립지 최종 복토층에서 가스 측정방법과 유출특성 해석 (Analysis of Flow Character and Gas Measurement from Final Cover Soil of sanitary Landfill)

  • 쓰레기매립장에서 복토층을 통하여 대기중에 유출하는 가스를 현장에서 단시간내에 측정이 가능한 밀폐형 chamber법을 제시하였다. 또한, 최종복토층에서의 유출가스 실측치를 모델해석으로 모사하여 다음의 결과를 얻었다. 1) 시간변화에 따른 chamber내(H=10-30 cm)의 농도 변화는 30분이내로, G.C의 분석시간을 고려하여 5분단위로 분석한다. 2)메탄산화 반응의 영향으로 $CH_4$/$CO_2$비가 복토층 표면근처에서 급격히 변화한다. 3)매립지 표면의 flux가 F =$10^{-5}$mol/($m^2$.s)일 경우에는 메탄산화반응에 의해 가스조성에의 영향이 있으나, F =$10^{-6}$moll($\textrm{m}^2$.s)의 경우에는 복토층내의 메탄가스 농도가 상대적으로 적으므로 메탄산화반응에의 영향이 적다.

소듐냉각 고속로의 커버가스 영역에서 열유동 해석 (ANALYSIS OF HEAT TRANSFER AND FLUID FLOW IN THE COVER GAS REGION OF SODIUM-COOLED FAST REACTOR)

  • The reactor head of a sodium-cooled fast reactor KALIMER-600 should be cooled during the reactor operation in order to maintain the integrity of sealing material and to prevent a creep fatigue. Analyzing turbulent natural convection flow in the cover gas region of reactor vessel with the commercial CFD code CFX10.0, the cooling requirement for the reactor head and the performance of the insulation plate were assessed. The results showed that the high temperature region around reactor vessel was caused by the convective heat transfer of Helium gas flow ascending the gap between the insulation plate and the reactor vessel inner wall. The insulation plate was shown to sufficiently block the radiative heat transfer from pool surface to reactor head to a satisfactory degree. More than $32.5m^3$/sec of cooling air flow rate was predicted to maintain the required temperature of reactor head.
