우리나라 장수촌(長壽村)의 생활습관(生活習慣)과 음식문화(飮食文化)에 관(關)한 고찰(考察)

  • In view of the results that we studied about living and eating habit of korean old people who live in longevity village, we can make conclusion as follows. 1. They have regular rising time, bedtime and living routine. Their bedtime is between 9 to 11 and rising time is before 6. It goes to show that they are keeping regular hours. 2. Generally speaking, most of long life peoples are physical labor: agriculture, fishery, housework, etc. 3. They are in balance with their eating habit. The most favorite food of longevity village's old people is made from toenjang which is fermented soybean paste. 4. The geographical features of longevity village are mountain region, coast and island. 5. Most of people who live long are illiteracy and only a few people of them has finished elementary school course. Moreover, in case of illiteracy, there are more unschooled woman compare with both sexes.

Experimental Investigation of the Hydrodynamic Force Acting on Ship Hull and Rudder in Various Wave Direction

  • In the past, traditional methods of research on ship maneuvering performance were estimated in calm waters. However, the course-keeping ability and the maneuvering performance of a ship can be influenced by the presence of waves. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the maneuvering behavior of a ship in waves. In this study, the force acting on a moving ship and a rudder behind the model ship will be performed in regular waves in Changwon National University (CWNU). In addition, the prediction force acting on the rudder in calm waters was carried out and compared with those of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Model test in regular wave was performed to predict the force acting on the ship and the rudder behind the model ship in various wave directions. The effects of wavelength and wave direction on hydrodynamic forces acting on the ship hull versus rudder angle is discussed.

  • International Maritime Organisation (IMO) regulations insist on reduced emission of CO2, noxious and other environmentally dangerous gases from ship, which are usually let out while burning fossil fuel for running its propulsive machinery. Contrallability of ship during sailing has a direct implication on its course keeping and changing ability, and tries to have an optimised routing. Bad coursekeeping ability of a ship may lead to frequent use of rudder and resulting changes in the ship's drift angle. Consequently, it increases vessels resistance and also may lead to longer path for its journey due to zigzag movements. These adverse effects on the ship journey obviously lead to the increase in fuel consumption and higher emission. Hence, IMO has made it mandatory to evaluate the manoeuvring qualities of a ship at the designed stage itself. In this paper a numerical horizontal planar motion mechanism is simulated in CFD environment and from the force history, the hydrodynamic derivatives appearing in the manoeuvring equation of motion of a ship are estimated. These derivatives along with propeller thrust and rudder effects are used to simulate different standard manoeuvres of the vessel and check its parameters against the IMO requirements. The present study also simulates these manoeuvres by using numerical free running model for the same ship. The results obtained from both these studies are presented and discussed here.

Psychosocial Adjustment in Families with Kidney Donor or Recipient (신장공여자와 신장수혜자를 가진 가족들의 사회심리적 적응)

  • The purpose of this study was to generate a grounded theory of how families with kidney donor or recipient coped with kidney transplantations. Interview data from twelve families involved in kidney transplants was analyzed using the grounded theory method. Data analysis revealed that “protecting the family” was the main theme that represented family member experiences. In order to maintain family function and to protect the family from breaking up, family members had to adjust the family structure from the traditional style of a husband-centered family, to one that was patient health -centered. The process of this adjustment was a very long and difficult one, taking several years from the recognition of the kidney disease to the kidney transplants. Family members, especially spouses, employed nine different strategies to deal with various problems and conflicts which occurred during the process : 1) paying attention to the patient's illness and complications ; 2) accepting the patient's illness as the family's illness as well ; 3) managing the patient's illness and complications that occured ; 4) being thrifty ; 5)supporting the kidney donor ; 6) accepting and replacing the lost roles of the patient ; 7) keeping composure and encouraging the patient ; 8) sustaining the patient's independence ; 9) self-restraining sexual desires. These findings suggest that there is a developmental process where family members adjust to a kidney transplant over time. There is also a need for increased social and psychological health services for all family members over the course of kidney transplants.

  • In event of selecting construction materials, taking ones found easily around make embodied energy saved. The earth construction could be an eco-friendly engineering from a views of keeping the embodied energy. The pour earth method construction, as one of earth constructions, improves liquidity of earth-mixed properties to build walls or foundations. This study is aimed at evaluating possibilities as to machinery constructions using pumping cars or excavators to be applied on natural non-dried earth which are purchased from sites neighboring to subject building. The study showed that the pumping car used construction was smoothly carried out without any remarkable difficulties and further, a compressed strength was found to keep a certain degree to possibly construct low-story buildings. However, it showed some different levels as to a compressed strength by locations of buildings. In the construction course, we couldn't use remicon plants or a remicon due to field conditions and we are forced to take excavators in compounding or mixing works. But, it is evaluated that actually liquidity or compressed strength will be better than in case of using machineries like remicon plants. These results make us determine that the wall construction using machineries is possible.

  • Recent research suggests the various applications of Model Predictive Control on vehicle systems. In numerous cases, nonlinear tire models such as the Magic Formula, which are highly complex and are more detailed than necessary, are used. This paper presents a nonlinear tire model that excludes the region of negative slope but expresses the nonlinear properties of tire well enough for tracking the lane of a racing course. The proposed inverse tire model can also be used to calculate the slip angle from the tire force. Thus, the model can be utilized to design the Model Predictive Controller.

  • This study was carried out to develop a basic form of planning hull type fishing boat. G/T 10ton class is selected as object hull form, and hull form is designed in Chosun University. A series of test results of LCG variations for S different LCG points are presented in this paper. The test was performed in Davidson Laboratory, and the scope of tests include resistance, trim and sinkage.

  • The stern boat deployment system was investigated to evaluate the capability of launching and recovering rigid hull inflatable boat (RHIB) via the stern ramp. The main parameters to launch and recover RHIB were tested at the design stage. The combined hydrodynamic effect of the stern wake and the water jet flow made it difficult to maintain the maneuvering and sea-keeping ability of RHIB approaching to the stern ramp. The safe recovery course was proposed to maintain the directional control of RHIB and to reduce the combined hydrodynamic effect in the transom zone. To evaluate the feasibility of RHIB recovery, the stern sill depth was measured in various conditions and the ramp availability time was obtained. Also, the experimental percent time operability (PTO) test was performed by the number of successive launching and recovering operations.

  • Oxygen consumption by Clonorchis sinensis (C.S.) was observed in a medium of valuable pH of KRP, lack of certain electrolytes of KRP and of glucose, acetic acid or propionic acid was added to KRP. The results were as follows. 1. In a different solutions, KRP with or without $0.4%-glucose$, $0.9%-saline$ solution, the variation of oxygen consumption by C.S. was not significant. 2. Oxygen consumption by C.S. was inhibited by the solution of KCI, $CaCl_2$, or $MgSO_4$ in a 0.9% solution of saline. 3. Under the acidity, oxygen consumption was enhanced but under the alkality, it was inhibited. 4. Oxygen consumption by C.S. was inhibited by acetic acid or propionic acid in KRP solution. 5. C.S. keeping in KRP solution for a long duration, oxygen cosumption was reduced in the course of time.

  • In 2010 Manila Conference, the revised STCW (International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers) of IMO recalled that a large percentage of maritime casualties and pollution incidents are caused by human error. Therefore, education and training improvement will play important role to reduce maritime casualties. From this, we focus on improving safety during sailing through upgrading the education and training for Korean cadets by updating maritime education and training program. In terms of a maritime education program from some of the maritime universities in the world such as United States Merchant Maritime Academy(USMMA) Philippine Merchant Marine Academy(PMMA), are compared to the Maritime University in Korea. As a result, we suggest an effective education system.
