Microsurgical procedures are time-consuming and sometimes fatigue-inducing. However, a skilled assistant and scrub nurse can help surgery be performed more smoothly and rapidly. Three microsurgical simulation courses were held for perioperative nurses at our institution. Each course consisted of two lectures and two practice microsurgical sessions, and was evaluated with a post-course survey. The respondents all felt that their knowledge of microsurgical instruments, sutures, microscope set-up, and microsurgical skills had improved following the course. Many felt that their ability to predict what the surgeon would request during a microsurgical case improved, and that they were able to handle instruments and sutures better. The nurses also reported improved confidence in assisting with microsurgical procedures and tolerance of the long operative time in some microsurgical cases. Based on our experience, a basic microsurgery course for nurses can play a significant role in training effective and competent microsurgical scrub nurses.

Purpose: This study was done to Identify the effects of a communication training program on communication skills and interpersonal relationships. Method: A communication training program was provided to student nurses who were selected as participants during a course of clinical practice. Of the students 23 were assigned to experimental group and 22 to the control group. The experimental part of the study was done with the experimental group during 6 week program course. The control group received only a communication theory course. Results: Communication and interpersonal relations scores on the post-test in the experimental group were significantly higher than in the control group. Conclusion: This program allowed nursing students to advance their communication skills during their clinical trials. These are skills which are necessary for nursing practice. The study demonstrated that a group training program that can provide students with practical support by improving the personal relationship.
A nurse is give much weight in the professions of hospital.The effective achievement of a goal of hospital organization needs to get nurses to contribute the structure positively through the rational personnel management of the nurses.The operation of performance rating system is necessary to improve because the nurses hold negative opinions about the resonable management of that system in most Korean hospitals.Therefore, the prupose of this research was to suggest an efficient method to solve the problem in connection with the management of nurses performance rating system.The results of the study are summarized as follows.1. As the performance rating implies the evaluation of employee's functional accomplishment and ability, and essential condition of the job was surveyed according to the job analysis of nursing activities and nurse position.That is to say, Nusrses' performances and capability is estimated in comparision with the condition of the job. 2. It is required adequacy for evaluation factors in performance rating.That is, $\circled1$ as for those who work in psychiatry or newborn baby room they should be appraied in terms of different factors from those applicable to whom work in a general staffs. $\circled2$ Evaluation factors should be concrete so that the quality and quantity of work and the potential ability of them can be correctly appraised. 3. In order to realize the object of perfamance rating system, the training on chief nurses are quite important. Also, careful practices and continuous supplementary training are required before the system is introduced.First of all, the appropriate evaluation can be mad by continuing to record the rating objects every day for the purpose of obtaining the objectivity of rating. 4. In course of transfering of the position and training, the induction of self-rating system and presentation of self-description is required to supplement functionally the performance rating system. 5. For the efficiency of nurses' performance rating system, the results of performance rating system must be reflected in promotion, allocation and training course, which makes the nurses have the motives and the organization accomplish the goal of modern nursing through its activation.
Background: Although nuclear disaster is considered rare, its effects are serious, and we must prepare a system to enable an effective response. Materials and Methods: Since 2010, we have been offering a two-day seminar to provide current nurses and radiological technologists with basic knowledge and train them in radiation emergency medicine (REM) techniques. This training offers lectures to deepen each specialty from the perspective of REM, as well as exercises on ways to handle irradiated and/or contaminated patients. Participants were expected to treat patients according to the concept of REM. Results and Discussion: All participants learn to assess and decontaminate contaminated wounds through drills. The questionnaire survey for participants indicated that participants were satisfied with this training and wanted to attend again. Conclusion: We believe that this training course will provide a valuable opportunity for medical professionals to gain knowledge and expertise in REM.
Purpose: Nurses play an important role in ensuring patient rehabilitation and are involved in all aspects of multidimensional rehabilitation. Therefore, strengthening rehabilitation nursing education is vital to ascertain high-quality rehabilitation and optimum outcomes. This study examined the effectiveness of a new teaching reform-a modified Six-Sigma-based training program-against a conventional educational program on rehabilitation specialist nurses' core competencies, post-training performance, and satisfaction. Methods: A quasi-randomized controlled trial was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the modified training program. We recruited 56 learners from the 2020 training course at the Hunan Rehabilitation Specialist Nurse Training Base as the control group. Sixty learners from the base's 2021 training course were recruited as the intervention group. Data were collected in a consistent manner from both groups after the training program was implemented. Results: Those who underwent the modified training program showed better improvement in all core competencies than those who underwent the conventional training program (p < .05); the scores for theoretical knowledge, clinical nursing lectures, reviews, and nursing case management improved significantly following the teaching reform (p < 0.05). Further, overall satisfaction as well as base management and theoretical teaching satisfaction improved significantly (p < .05). Conclusion: The modified training program strengthens rehabilitation nurses' base management abilities; enhances their core competencies; expands their interest in and breadth, depth, and practicability of theoretical courses; and updates the teaching methods.

Genetic knowledge for oncology nurses is important in Korea because oncologists are incorporating genetic counseling and genetic testing into their practice. The purpose of this paper is to describe our method of developing the first academic cancer genetic risk assessment and counseling course for Korean nurses. A one-week (non-credit) cancer genetics counseling program was constructed for master's level Korean oncology nurses. The course emphasized basic genetic concepts and principles the genetics of cancer; hereditary cancer syndromes; family history assessments; pedigree construction; risk calculation; surveillance recommendations and treatment options ethical, legal, social, and psychological issues inherent in genetic testing. The goals of this program are to: 1) provide a comprehensive knowledge base for nurses who are currently expanding their scope of practice into the genetic counseling role 2) introduce this knowledge to nurses who want to use it in their practice; and 3) provide cancer genetic knowledge and resources to Korean nursing faculty who plan to incorporate this knowledge into existing master's courses. This academically-based course is recognized as valuable by nurses, nursing faculty, and physicians. With this new knowledge nurses can begin toexpand their role in delivering comprehensive cancer care services.

Purpose: This study was done to identify the effectiveness of CPR training for nurses in the 6-sigma course. Method: The participants were nurses and doctors who worked in the medical center. For data analysis, the SPSS/PC14.0 program was used. Result: The total 11 categories of the primary problems were revealed on the recognition of carrying out CPR by nurses and doctors. After understanding the nurses' CPR knowledge and the practical ability, the survey showed 14.97 points and 67.12 points. After the education, the scores were increased from 14.87 to 23.25 in knowledge and from 67.12 to 93.43 in practical ability. The 6-sigma problem was ended as worked up the management plan and understood the changes over the management improving team. Conclusion: This study carries an emphasis on understanding of various CPR performance problems applied with 6-sigma in ward. In addition, improvement activities in relation to policy of hospitals suggest the high possibilities that the application of the improvement activities could be extended into the entire hospitals.
Critical thinking is essential to implementing the nursing process requiring timely decision making. The study examined the effects of a critical thinking course for nurses in the RN-BSN program. The study used a pre- and post-test design with a control group. The experimental group was a convenience sample of 24 working nurses attending a health college. The control group was 24 fellow nurses. The nursing process-based critical thinking course was provided to the experimental group two and half hours a week for 8 weeks. Teaching methods included lectures followed by a summary and quiz, brainstorming and action learning, and lecturer feedback. A pamphlet about views of professional occupation was provided to the control group. The data were collected using self-report questionnaires and analyzed to examine differences in the test scores before and after the intervention. The scores of critical thinking disposition, problem-solving process, and clinical competence increased significantly in the experimental group but did not in the control group. The difference between the two groups was also statistically significant in critical thinking disposition, problem-solving process, and clinical competence. It is necessary that a robust educational program or training to enhance critical thinking ability of nurses are provided in clinical settings and that nurses keep going on thinking critically in their practice.
There is an important concern regarding the First-line nurse manager's leadership because of the recognition that effectiveness of Leadership in this position results in benefits for the whole health care organization. So knowledge and practice of effective leadership behavior are now more essential to nursing than ever before. First-line Nurse Managers must be effective leaders to meet today's challenge because staff nurse, patient are affected by them. So the purpose of this study was to identify and to analyse the need for Leadership program of First-Line nurse managers in university hospitals. There were three major purposes of this study. First, identify First-line nurse managers general characteristic, second, identify their experience of leadership training, third, identify and analysis their demands for leadership training program. The subjects for this study was 167 First-line nurse manager randomly from 18 university hospitals in Korea. The data were collected through questionnaires from Oct. 13th to Nov. 20th, 1997, data was analysed using frequencies and percentages. Especially the steps of analysis of descriptions were as follows: Initial analysis centered on the identification of the demands of first-line nurse managers. Later analysis collapsed the demands into broad categories. From the collect data, 283 demands of first-line nurse managers were identified. These demands were then sorted into 3 broad categories that included : Self development as first-line nurse managers, relationship with others, and practice. The result of the study were as follows ; 1) Most of nurse managers(79.6%) had leadership training course and had good experience to improve self leadership. 2) Their demands of leadership training course are as follows First, for self as first-line nurse managers, they want to learn leadership theory, identify their leadership style and then develop their leadership skill. Second, for others as first-line nurse managers, they want to improve their communication skill, empowering others, relationship with others. Third, for patients as first-line nurse managers, improve their knowledge of practice. From the above finding, this study can be suggested the following; 1. Develope a leadership training course to improve first- line nurse manager's leadership skill according to their demands, so they will be better able to lead staff nurses for organization purposes. 2. When develope leadership training program, it must be contained the factors which first-line nurse managers want to learn.
School health promotion is related to reinforce on various roles of school health teachers including health instruction, health services, healthful school living. In this aspects, there would be necessory for qualified continous education proceed to activate roles of school health teachers. So the objectives of this study are first, to develop curriculum framework for inservice training of health school nurses, second, to descrive of curriculum objectives, third, to state of curriculum objectives and learning methods. There were used study methods as literature review, expert conferencing and workshop. Major results are as follows; 1. Curriculum framework for inservice training of health school nurses was constitute of major variables of health care model and direct services role of school health teacher such as health service, health instruction and healthful environment area. 2. The curriculum for health instruction were different from elementary school and middle school. 3. Time distribution for curriculum was composed of that health service is 12hours, health instruction is 96 hours and healthful environment is 12 hours. 4. The learning methods for inservice training were suggested to intensify positive attitude through the discussion and practical exercise. 5. The curriculum objectives were classified by total, area and a course of study and time summary table was suggested. In conclusion, the developed curriculum would be contribute to improve of practical ability for school health teachers. And to increase of inservice training effect, there should be operate in order to participate trainees activately and to be educate concurrently. Also, there are necessary for execute in series of the program such as standized text developing by course, evaluation index developing and instructor education etc.
