  • A structural-acoustic coupling problem involving fluid in a cavity divided with flexible walls and porous materials is investigated in this paper. In many practical problems, the use of finite elements to discretize the fluid region leads to large stiffness and mass matrices. But, since the acoustic boundary element discretization requires to put elements only on the surface of structure, the size of matrices is reduced considerably. Here, we developed a numerical analysis program for the structural-acoustic coupling problems of the multi-region cavity, using boundary elements for the fluid regions and finite elements for the structure. By considering sound transmission through layered systems placed in a cavity, the accuracy of the coupled acoustical-structural finite element model has been verified by comparing its transmission loss predictions with analytical sloutions. Example problems are included to investigate the characteristics of the multi-region structural-acoustic coupling system with porous material.

  • The propulsion system which apply the diesel engine with reduction gear as prime mover, generally installs the elastic coupling between engine and intermediate shaft, This coupling can isolate the vibratory torque excited by diesel engine, or the excess transient torque and moment occurring by external impact. So, diesel engine and reduction gear can safely operate by elastic coupling. Unfortunately, the elastic coupling for skimmer vessel was repeatedly broken by unknown vibration during the sea trial In this paper, the authors are searching for the possibilities and causes of the elastic coupling failure, via the global vibration measurement and the past incident investigation.

파워흐름해석법을 이용한 중고주파수 대역 소음해석 프로그램 개발 (Development of Noise Analysis Program by using Power Flow Analysis in Medium-to-high Frequency Ranges)

  • Power Flow Analysis (PFA) is introduced for solving the noise and vibration analysis of structures in medium-to-high frequency ranges. The vibration analysis software, $PFADS_{C{+}{+}}$ R4 based on Power Flow Finite Element Method (PFFEM) and the noise prediction software, $NASPFA_{C{+}{+}}$ R1 based on Power Flow Boundary Element Method (PFBEM) are developed. In this paper, the coupling equation which represents relation between structural energy and acoustic energy is developed for vibro-acoustic coupling analysis. And vibro-acoustic coupling analysis software based on PFA and coupling equation is developed. Developed software is composed of translator, cavity-finder, solver and post-processor over all. Translator can translate FE model into PFADS FE model and cavity-finder can automatically make NASPFA BE model from PFADS FE model for noise analysis. The solver module calculates the structural energy density, intensity of structures, the fictitious source on the boundary and the acoustic energy density at the field in acoustic cavities. Some applications of vibro-acoustic coupling analysis software to various structures and cruise ship are shown with reliable results.

디지털 노이즈와 휴대단말 안테나의 격리도 향상 방법 분석 (Analysis of Improvement Method of Isolation Between Digital Noise and the Mobile Handset Antenna Title)

  • 본 논문에서는 휴대단말기 내의 디지털 노이즈와 안테나 사이의 결합(coupling)으로 인한 수신감도 저하 현상을 특성 모드(characteristic mode)를 사용해서 분석한다. 우선, 안테나와 디지털 잡음의 결합 메커니즘(mechanism)을 분석하고, 카메라 노이즈로 인한 안테나 수신감도 열화현상의 개선 방법 중 하나인 그라운드(ground) 선의 디커플링 커패시터(decoupling capacitor, decap)의 역할에 대해서도 분석한다. 분석을 위해서 카메라 모듈의 FPCB의 디지털 신호 선과 그라운드 선을 PCB 그라운드의 특성 모드를 여기(excitation) 시키는 루프(loop)형 피더(feeder)로 모델링 했고, 그라운드 선과 커패시터를 추가한 개선 모델에 대해서 분석을 했다.

  • 간접접촉 심전도 측정(Indirect-Contact ECG)은 일상생활에서의 무구속 무자각 측정에 적합한 심전도 측정 방법이다. 본 연구는, 간접접촉 심전도 측정에서 크게 관측되는 60Hz 전원선 잡음을 줄이기 위한 새로운 방법으로, 공통모드 구동 차폐 방식을 제안하였다. 공통 모드 구동 차폐 방식은, 간접 접촉 심전도에서 사용되는 용량성 결합 능동 전극(Capacitive coupling active electrode)을 둘러싼 전기적 차폐(electric shield)의 전압을 공통 모드 전압과 동일하게 유지하는 방법이다. 이 방법은 공통모드 전압의 크기는 그대로 유지하지만, 의복 임피던스 차에 의한 공통모드 전압의 차동 모드 전환에 의한 잡음은 효과적으로 줄일 수 있다. 따라서 두 전극 사이의 의복의 임피던스 차이가 커서 공통 모드 전원 잡음이 심각한 간접 접촉 심전도 측정에서, 효과적으로 공통 모드 잡음을 줄일 수 있다. 실제 간접 접촉 심전도 측정에 제안된 방법을 적용한 결과로 이론적 예상보다는 60Hz 잡음 감소비가 적었지만, 60Hz 잡음이 크게 줄어드는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 의복 임피던스 차가 크게 발생하는 경우, 예상대로 잡음 감소비가 커짐을 볼 수 있었다. 제안된 방법은 접지 특성이 좋지 않은 측정 조건에서 전원 잡음을 줄이는데 유용할 것으로 기대된다.

Dynamic response uncertainty analysis of vehicle-track coupling system with fuzzy variables

  • Dynamic analysis of a vehicle-track coupling system is important to structural design, damage detection and condition assessment of the structural system. Deterministic analysis of the vehicle-track coupling system has been extensively studied in the past, however, the structural parameters of the coupling system have uncertainties in engineering practices. It is essential to treat the parameters of the vehicle-track coupling system with consideration of uncertainties. In this paper, a method for predicting the bounds of the vehicle-track coupling system responses with uncertain parameters is presented. The uncertain system parameters are modeled as fuzzy variables instead of conventional random variables with known probability distributions. Then, the dynamic response functions of the coupling system are transformed into a component function based on the high dimensional representation approximation. The Lagrange interpolation method is used to approximate the component function. Finally, the bounds of the system's dynamic responses can be predicted by using Monte Carlo method for the interpolation polynomials of the Lagrange interpolation function. A numerical example is introduced to illustrate the ability of the proposed method to predict the bounds of the system's dynamic responses, and the results are compared with the direct Monte Carlo method. The results show that the proposed method is effective and efficient to predict the bounds of the system's dynamic responses with fuzzy variables.

  • Numerical analysis techniques have been applied to obtain the vibroacoustic characteristics of the simplified model of a passenger-car cabin. Two kinds of coupled vibration-acoustic analysis, such as one-way coupling and full coupling, have been carried out via the interface between the results of vibration analysis by FEM and acoustic analysis by BEM. The comparison of two coupled analysis results show the fluid-structure interaction in terms of the coupled effect of the vibration and noise.

Balance Winding Scheme to Reduce Common-Mode Noise in Flyback Transformers

  • The flyback topology is being widely used in power adapters. The coupling capacitance between primary and secondary windings of a flyback transformer is the main path for common-mode (CM) noise conduction. A Y-cap is usually used to effectively suppress EMI noise. However, this results in problems in space, cost, and the danger of safety leakage current. In this paper, the CM noise behaviors due to the electric field coupling of the transformer windings in a flyback adapter with synchronous rectification are analyzed. Then a scheme with balance winding is proposed to reduce the CM noise with a transformer winding design that eliminates the Y-cap. The planar transformer has advantages in terms of its low profile, good heat dissipation and good stray parameter consistency. Based on the proposed scheme, with the help of a full-wave simulation tool, the key parameter influences of the transformer PCB winding design on CM noise are further analyzed. Finally, a PCB transformer for an 18W adapter is designed and tested to verify the effectiveness of the balance winding scheme.

  • In turbo-machines operated at high speeds through gear speed increasers a precise coupled analysis of lateral and torsional vibrations is required to achieve highly reliable designs with low vibration and low noise levels, where the vibration coupling is due to the gear pair mesh stiffness. In this paper, applying the generalized coupled lateral-torsional finite element model of a gear pair element, has been analyzed a coupled lateral-torsional vibration of the prototype 800 RT turbo-chiller rotor-bearing system with a bull-pinion gear speed increaser. Results have shown that the coupled torsional natural frequencies have decreased due to the coupling effect of lateral vibration and particularly, the 2nd torsional natural frequency and its mode shape have had big changes. However, changes of lateral vibration characteristics have been noticed only at high lateral whirl natural frequencies above 15,000 rpm.

승용차 차실모델의 진동 및 소음특성에 관한 연구 (A Study on the vibration and noise characteristics of vehicle compartment model)

  • It is desirable to predict the noise and vibration problems of a passenger car in its design stage for a better ride quality. Dominant frequencies of the noise inside a car range from about 50 Hz to 300 Hz and these are frequently caused by the coupling of the acoustic normal modes of the compartment cavity and structural modes of the body. In this paper, car interior noise problem is investigated in view of vibration-acoustic modes coupling and numerical simulation is performed on the interior noise. In the simulation, experimental modal data of the vehicle structure are utilized to improve the accuracy of the analysis. The results are in good agreement with those of experiment on a half scaled vehicle compartment model. Especially, strongly coupled modes can be predicted, which give useful informations to solve noise problems of real car at design stage.
